Let me play 😈 advocate here... haven't played that in awhile lol! On this Kaaya situation...

Who's to say he's better than Rosier, Shariffs, Allison, or Perry??? Just because you start doesn't mean you're better.

We just needed a QB that could run a little, move in the pocket, not fold under pressure, and be able to throw to open receivers this year. IMO if our other QB's can't do that they're wasting scholarships here.

P.S. I love Kaaya... he's a great kid! I think he'll improve if he does come back which I think he did these past 4.5 games

The Dude

Hows this? Nick Saban, Rams?

Go Canes!

And it's funny how you don't notice when others want Kaaya out the door so that Allison or Perry can develop, even at the expense of wins.

Btw those other two are our backups next year. As a casual fan you probably didn't know that.

Go Canes!

That was me. But since your limited IQ only allows you to understand bits and pieces of larger concepts, I can understand why you didn't get the context in which it was said.

86Cane

Losing 3 of the 4 games, as we did this year, that we shouldn't have lost is what's killing us. Play calling, qb play and our o-line all played a part in our losses. It' great we finished with 4 wins but we should beat those teams.

Posted by: Herbieibis | December 12, 2016 at 09:08 PM

Wait, wait, WAIT...I thought someone here said that what does losing two more games really matter anyway? Now who was that???

The Dude

Posted by: TonyCane | December 12, 2016 at 08:44 PM

If Richt doesnt hire a big time OC, then he's no Dabo either. But Richt said he got bored being a CEO and wants to call plays. This is Miami's Achilles heel. Manny Diaz can build something elite. Time to get an OC that gets results and steps on necks. If Richt doesnt, we're not coming back, just slightly better than what we've had. A bunch of 8, 9 and 10 win seasons coming our way.

Herbieibis

Yeah go to bama and catch 30 passes a year but have a chance to win a ship every year, tough decision!
Got to win the big games period, if we are going to get some of these big dogs. Winning the big games, has been our albetros. Losing 3 of the 4 games, as we did this year, that we shouldn't have lost is what's killing us. Play calling, qb play and our o-line all played a part in our losses. It' great we finished with 4 wins but we should beat those teams.
As I said before the recruits we have, for the most part are good. We need great. I don't see a wr I'm excited about, nor a rb. We have one de that they will convert to a dt. We have depending on what cite u look on 5 to 8 (4) star players, this ain't going to get us where we need to be. We have and must win this bowl game.
If kaaya comes back we have a chance to roll and even though the herb thinks he has bricks for feet, he gives us the best chance and not some greenhorn. Defense should be stout next year. It would be a shame to have waste that with a first year starting qb. The year after 2018 we can deal with.

Go Canes!

We don't need to wait for anyone to retire.

We've picked up a lot of quality local guys already. Ford, Bandy, Garvin and the rest are super talented players and we've added Dee Jay, DJ from Sacramento and hopefully McFarland from up north.

Nor flipping Jeudy sucks but we're adding national recruits that wouldn't have looked at us before.

Need to win 10 games and the Coastal next year and continue to add every year.

It's not going to happen overnight and we do need to keep the Jeudys of the world, but getting to a very talented and deep 85 is just as important.

It's saying he's torn between winning multiple championships at Bama and staying home and being near his mom.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 12, 2016 at 04:35 PM

One thing is that Nick Saban in 65 years old. He'll turn 66 next October. It's more than feasible that by the time that Jeudy is entering his junior year that Saban will be retired or back in the NFL for one last go.

There's no guarantee that when Saban goes that Cristobal or any of the other potential successors continue that level of success. That's one thing I've learned watching Miami and UT football since 2001. Success can ebb away quickly. Texas went from a NC appearance in 2009 to a 5 win season a year later.

The other thing - I will keep saying this - there is no way that college football programs can continue to spend on athletic programs the way that they are currently doing so. There will be a backlash, and places like Ohio State, Alabama, and Texas will be in the spotlight.

TonyCane

While I'm encouraged about the future because of this staff and how they e recruited in their 11 months at Miami, I'm also discouraged with kids leaving home to play for someone else. We will not be elite again until we land kids like Jeudy, Dalvin, etc, year after year, every damn year. Maybe 2018 kids will start it.

(We're still going to have a top 12, maybe top 10 class)

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 12, 2016 at 08:15 PM

We won't get those kids until we start winning ACC championships. It's very hard to pry those kids away from an Urban Meyer or Nick Saban when they are competing for national championships each year.

Richt's model for success should be Dabo's. Build up the program to a point where it is winning ACC Championships and in the national championship tournament. Dabo's talent level two years ago was not much greater than Golden's.

Sinister, you know youre my bro, but I try my damndest to not blame kids, unless your Kyle Wright. I blame the coaches. Especially for UNC and ND, 2 very winnable games but Richt shit the bed badly. He also did against VT, but still probably not a realistically winnable game.

Perspective Sinister, perspective. He played for the worst HC in Miami history. 0-3 against FSU? Uh duh. We never should have even been close to those guys. They have way more talent especially in the trenches. Also, FSU did go on to win a title one of those years and competed for another. Only a f*cking idiot give the HC/QB all the praise when winning. Same thing when they lose. He's flawed. Its not all his fault, especially that AG was his coach. And Sinister, Brad is the best QB on our roster right now. We'd be lucky to have him come back. You never want to rush a freshman in. Besides, what if it aint the QB and its the sh*tty system? You gonna rip Jack or N'Kosi for 3 years? Brad committed to Miami and stuck with us under really sh*tty circumstances. Lets show him at least some gratitude and not rip him relentlessly. Was JPP a 5? I thought a 4? Programs rise and fall all the time. Last thing Miami needs is a rise in Tampa and Miami and Fort Lauderdale. We wont lose the very few 4 and 5 star kids we actually get, but we very well could lose some 3s that are promised more playing time. Especially if Richt keeps struggling against teams like ND. Lose those 3s long enough and you could lose a 4. Lose too many 4s and youre snowballing.

Lunatic ranter everyone raved about at UF?

Four losses, only scored 30 points three times all season, less than 20 five times.

Now today some are beginning to fear FIU and FAU, think our coach is a chump who wastes time on a 5 star who visits on a whim and was just bored, yearn for a true freshman with no passes as our only hope and we're destined for the middle of the road.

Smh.

Embarrassing.

We're oozing freshman all Americans, won our last four by blowout, already have a Top 10 recruiting class that's rock solid and getting better, the beast defensive coordinator everyone wanted and CMR at head coach.

Boise State started getting a 4 star kid every other cycle. Plus 3 star kids all the time that Power 5 schools wanted. Houston got a 5 star DT everyone wanted under Herman. USF gets 4 star and 5 star kids from time to time and USF was ranked #2 in the country fairly recently. Louisville wasnt a power 5 when it got Brian Brohm and beat us all the time for kids we wanted, Bridgewater etc.

And they were number two ten years ago in the 2007 season for like a day. And for the record USF has never gotten one single five star kid ever! Check the pst classes if you don't believe me. Exactly how many collegiate passes has Allison thrown? So you're basing this idea that he can do everything better based on what?

INCLUDING the INT against the Irish, over the second half of the season Kaaya threw 191 passes. Eleven went for touchdowns and two were intercepted. One of those INTs was clearly not his fault, one clearly was.

“Miami and West Virginia play a bowl game so I’m going to determine off of that,” Harley said on Friday night after winning a third consecutive state championship at St. Thomas Aquinas. “Whoever wins that’s where I’m going. It’s about the coaches at the end of the day.”

My point... Its at the very least the "Mike Harley Bowl."

Butch and Strong may not get the 5 stars.....but it aint like we are getting them either. While many of these kids may not have been born when BD was building the greatest college team ever.....their parents, coaches, teachers, brothers, cousins, parents friends....etc....in HS football crazy FL were around. They know who BD is....a lot of people know and remember him....and it is a fact....he built the greatest college team ever at the U.

Strong is younger and he has a strong reputation. You build great teams with 5s and 4s.....but depth you get the 3s 2s....even unwanted guys and you coach them up.....make them good players!Butch got a lot of guys that were not 5s.....look at his great teams...lot of those guys were unknown!!!

Fact is it will remain to be seen if CMR can pull the greats.....he did pretty good keeping the AlPa class here....but can he recruit the elites? dont know. The top dogs can come to FL.... Bama, OSU, USC, OK, Clemson MI....and point at us and say....not even in our class, not contender, not top 10.....and they are right. We are not Top 25 per rankings.....we WERE elite at one time....been a while. We are not an elite program, and we have not pulled truly elite guys in a good while ...though we can get there again....but BD CS will get peoples attention.

We got to the point with Clappy, Onion, and AlPa where even after 12 poor seasons....I think all 3 thought we are the U, we can get whoever we want......keep believing that dream. I think CMR will be aggressive, respect the competition and go hard after all kids.....never think you cannot get out recruited.....I think BD being in the area ought to challenge our staff to work really hard....never doubt the competition.

I hope we can pull JJ; cross them folks!!!

I do hope Njoku stays....great kid ....I think BK is not ready...but we will see.
