Conversely, hopefully they overlook what you say, too. Stop dry snitchin' the fanbase...it's just as bad as the fans who say, and/or do, negative things.

We have no clue what these kids want to do so let them make the decision they feel is best for them.

Rivals or whoever came out with the recruiting media blitz was the worst thing to happen. Nothing like giving 16 - 17 year olds alot of attention and the fans something else to worry about.

BigWindyCane1

The Canes currently ranked #13 in the Sagerain college football rankings and #14 in the ESPN rankings. That should translate into a respectable ranking to finish the season and more momentum going into recruiting season January 11th through national signing day.

I think most recruits who saw the Canes play realize that this team that finished the season is much better than their final ranking. This is a very good football program on the way up to greatness

raizecane

honestly, this is the worse time of year for me to read canespace. Why? Because of recruiting. I love getting solid info from some of you but others guess to what a kid is going to do, knock the coaching staff because we didn't go after a certain kid, etc.....

To me, it is ok to provide positive input but we really should leave the negative stuff out of it. We have no clue what these kids want to do so let them make the decision they feel is best for them. Me personally will gladly wait until after signing day to either praise or criticize the class of 2017. Carry on......

Says the guy whose go to line is "screw em! If they think they might be interested in another school, then they aren't true canes".

If we only took your definition of "true canes" the team would literally just be us canespacers.

1mg of Epi

So that would be 3 more 4* and give us the coveted 12 4*. The recruiting class is on schedule of expectations and improvement from last year. I don't understand the complaining...

The Dude,

You typed the same thing I did. What did you fix?

Posted by: CoCane | January 01, 2017 at 08:50 PM
Nobody is complaining. Quite the opposite. Just saying recruiting isnt taking off until there is improvement on the field.

I'm not a recruiting guru, but I know the most coveted recruits have been elsewhere for a while.

Oh...Dudes drunk again. He needs help.

BigWindyCane1

Pouncy is a good recruit, and if the Canes pick up that transfer from ND that played at STA, plus 1-2 other targets, I would be satisfied with the WR class

Coolmac758

Our Fans Complain About Everything. Hopefully the Recruits overlook what You Say. Someone was saying they weren't impressed with Pouncey, but we have one receiver. If You know Football that kid has more talent than Harley. Just be Quiet. Also We have coaches now that have to recruit kids that were 2 or 3 years old when we were relevant. Be Quiet. Our Defense is Going To be Elite next year. Let's get Two Good Corners be aise We Have Safeties. That Offensive Line and Play calLing on Offense Needs to be Fixed or Improved. Past Forst, Run Second.

Happy New Year Canespace fam!
TruCane, you must be in the Orlando area, you need to come down to a game with the rest of us next year.

VA - you are right, we need to have some bigger wins. Winning will cure alot. There is no doubt the coaching is better.

Dude on a Pale Horse

And players like AQM wouldnt have come without AG...

Need to take another step in recruiting. Richt has not had the impact on recruiting that we expected. Turns out he probably had little to do with UGAs year in/out recruiting. Need to get to a dozen 4 and 5 star kids per cycle.

Herbieibis

We're going to need a couple dt's, have one so far but he will probably have to r.s. To gain weight. Even though everyone comes back at that position, heard rumors Jenkins may leave, if norton has a good year he will probably go along with Willis. Got enough to get us through next year but could lose 5.

CaneRock

Bout' the only position we've missed on so far in recruiting, is WR, and maybe TE. Everything else is solid, IMHO.

I really like this Billy Gibson kid, reminds me of DB2.

1mg of Epi

Recruiting has already improved dramatically. Don't think guys like Dee Jay, DJ, Mc Farland and others come here without these coaches here. We've got playmakers coming in at a ton of positions.

Let's see what CMR can pull off at WR down the stretch before deciding we've got so far to go.

Posted by: Go Canes! | January 01, 2017 at 04:43 PM

Class is ranked what... 15? That's pretty much where Al was. Praying we get some blue chips, but I suspect some more work needs to be done on the field. I'm not knocking Richt... I don't think any other coach we hired would've done appreciably better.

VA Cane

pales compared to NC sorry

Dude on a Pale Horse

Did McFarland committ, or did Go just assign a kid to Miami that hasnt decided yet?

VA Cane

Yes winning and facilities help but winning big games and your conference division and then the conference ship gets us noticed by the big time recruits.

This is true too...but only to a certain degree...National Championships kicks the door in. Saban, Urban...hell Dabo now...and other teams that are in the quest for it all....thats what this new, selfie, win now kid wants...and hell who can blame them. right now, if i was a defender or OL...or RB,.....Bama is the place to go....and though they do not pass that much...i bet Sark, taking over for Kiffin, develops that kid to be a better passer next year.

The rise of clemson since Dabo took over....thats why my guy Clelin went there....he was RS last year...but he said DS sold him on not just an ACC title....he convinced him Clemson was going to be in the title playoffs.....so looks like he sold him right.

NC is what it is all about...you usually have to win the conference....but it plaes compared to the NC. I heard all these PSU people trying to convince the nation the Big Ten title still meant something...Rose Bowl...maybe a while back... but if it aint the NC it is secondary.

I think CMR will get better and better...it will take a couple seasons...the question is not to be back in the top 25.....I want to be in the Top 4...and we will have to see how it unfolds.

Go Canes!

Herbieibis

Our recruiting is the same as it has been for years, a 5 star here and there 6 or 7 four stars and a bunch of 3's. Golden took to many not rated players and offered ships to camp players who were below average who jumped on those ship offers. We still have big needs at certain positions that ever year that aren't filled with quality. A couple of years we couldn't get qb's and then it was wr's, then, and it still is a problem today of getting defensive tackles, true dt's, not someone I have to put 40 lb's of bad weight on. Now we need cb's and wr's. Yes winning and facilities help but winning big games and your conference division and then the conference ship gets us noticed by the big time recruits. We've heard numerous times recruits say they grew up u fans only to sign with someone else. Fsu has had a better strong hold in So. Flo. Than we do. Now u look at the top 25 players in the state and we have one verballed so far, this has to change or 8 to 9 wins is about the best we can hope for.
College football tends to run in cycles, So. Cal was the thing in the mid 2000's, then it was Flo. And since 2009 it's been Bama. The way they keep recruiting there looks like there is no end in sight. 6 five stars to date for this recruiting year, Osu has 5. U watch these games and u can see the talent gap on both sides of the ball. As tough as Washington played defensively they were just out talented. Clemson is loaded at the skill positions and is really the only team that has enough talent on both sides of the ball to beat Bama. We need that kind of talent. Clemson doesn't have the depth of talent Bama has but first team offense and defense they do. That' all we need for right now is to get the first team offense and defense strong and the rest will fall in place.

Go Canes!

VA Cane

Hopefully this year adds some....positive vibrations and light to our program.

I watched some of the HS game on ESPN....Jeff Thomas was dynamite. He is very fast...but quick, great change of direction....I remember someone on here saying he's tough...east St Louis....but may have grade issues. I saw we are on a well...long list of recruiters...Bama, Michigan, OSU, Neb, Ville, FSU....he is wanted by a lot of teams...he looks good, seemed like a good kid in post game....he is the kind of dynamic player we need...change a game....we may have a shot....hope he can get grades straight...looked good breaking long runs!!!

1mg of Epi

You are correct VA. We won't see any big improvement in recruiting till perceptions change. Miami is to these kids kids what SMU was to us when we were kids.. a program with a colorful history.

VA Cane

As a positive, I think the 5 wins including the bowl game have shed some light on our glorious past; these kids parents and relatives DO remember The U...the great U!

I think the facility upgrades, the young freshmen playing well, the D....and the improvement of staff...and CMRs presence have helped revive us. We are NOT back yet, but I think we are farhter on the path than ever before....under Clappy we dropped off....and we sunk under RS, died under AlPa....we never were close to being back under any of them.

Now it is brighter, we are moving in the right direction, and by continuing wht we did the last 5 games, we can have a big year in 2017.....and if all goes well....really shine nationally in 2018...I hope so, all UM fans deserve it!!

VA Cane

Think about Jerry Jeudy..hes watching Bama play in the playoffs.....winning and playing for another NC....why not go there? Who wants to play in some little bowl, when you are playing on 12/31.....with the nation watching....to go to the NC?

I would still pick Bama....title matter...while little bowls are just......nice....meaningless...but nice to these kids.

I am like Jimbo...every game, every bowl is important and must be won....not these kids they are short sighted, narrow minded, and selfish...many of them not all.

VA Cane

I think people think regardless of the U, I am going to places to where I can play for titles. Bama, OSU, Clemson, FSU....and even lower programs like Washington, OK, Ok State, USC.....they have some kind of relevancy.....

when we died....after the Fiesta....(well it was several years into clappys regime...for me 2003 fiesta....) we died big....we fell off the map...we sucked...then RS burned so many bridges with his bad rep as a person...hateful resentful behavior....that killed FL....then AlPa came in and destroyed things....the program is unknown...these kids have no idea about 2001 team and others.....and do not care...in their minds little u is like USF, FIU, FAU.....just another average team in FL not big time...who has no cred with winning...hopefully CMR and the team improves our image...i would think so....i look forward to better recruiting and a good 2017.

1mg of Epi

1mg... you right! And actually I think these kids think it's cool to burn UM and play the game with em!

Posted by: WWIN | January 01, 2017 at 01:12 PM

Seems like it. Only way that changes is to win. A nasty D will help our image too.

BigWindyCane1

Richards is a very special player. Richards will continue to strike fear in defenses and draw double teams going into next season.

I am anxious to see how Mullins has developed and will perform. I thought Mullins, Richards and Bruce were the best receivers in one class for the entire country, getting the best from Miami-DADE, Broward and Palm Beach Counties in one recruiting class. They were all big time playmakers in high school, and Richards did not disappoint. Bruce is gone, but Mullins is still here. If he picks up the playbook, he will make some plays for the Canes next season

And the last 12 years we are average at best, to many coaching changes, can't even win the coastal division, etc, etc!

WWIN

I can understand Harley not coming but not Jeudy!

Jeudy's mind set should have been... I'm not going to UM as long as Golden and Co are still there but I'll go if they hire a good staff.

Harley was invited to Paradise Camp and was the best WR there according to multiple people and still didn't get a offer!

1mg of Epi

Then what the hell is going on? Why dont we have 4 & 5 star TEs knocking down our door?

Posted by: The Dude | January 01, 2017 at 12:30 PM

UM isn't sexy anymore. High school seniors today have no memory of Miami as anything other than a second rate program.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Then what the hell is going on? Why dont we have 4 & 5 star TEs knocking down our door?

CaneRock

All good points Go Canes.

Even guys that come to UM as 2 or 3* TEs (Walford & Njoku), get drafted in the top half of the draft.

Hell, even guys that didn't come to UM to play football (Graham & Swoope), get drafted, or make somebody's roster some type of way.

Go Canes!

Only thoughts on yesterday's game outside of the obvious is if you're Jerry Jeudy, why the hell would you go to Bama.

The starting QB is only a freshman and there's no sign he's ever going to be used as a passer, Ridley is already higher up the pecking order and he's been basically eliminated from the offense and you just lost your offensive coordinator so you have no idea what's coming next year and beyond.

Outside of rare, rare situations WR at Bama and TE at FSU is where careers go to die.

Development and game planning are superior to recruiting SHORT TERM.

Getting the most out of lesser talent anda confident, charismatic pitch is the key turning around a struggling program by getting recruits excited about building something special.

Better playcalling ( I will beat this horse ad nauseum until changes are made) would have made us THAT program right now.

Quarterback grade: Brad Kaaya, 58.4

While Miami QB Brad Kaaya amassed 282 passing yards, 65 percent of his yardage was collected after the catch by his receivers. Regardless, Miami walked away with the bowl victory and Kaaya led the way by tossing four touchdown passes to four different receivers.

Here you go again... I posted GRADES for both players! The same grades that everyone has been usually lately... but since that GRADE didn't look good for Kaaya you had to search for something else 😂.

Kaaya was ONLY pressured SEVEN times on 35 attempts. He didn't make any throws that you couldn't have made.

While on the other hand Francois was pressured NINETEEN times on 32 attempts... imagine how many sacks that would have been for Kaaya. But let's keep complaining about how bad our O-line is lol!

Another thing...Kaaya has had NFL talent to work with EVERY YEAR here so can we stop this talk about him not having the talent around him like Francois and etc..

CR, I agree with most everything you post, but not this.

All Brad needs is consistently good playcalling to be a very good to great COLLEGE QB.

He is a good college qb. Just don't hang him out to dry and he will make plays.

The big thing is keeping him out of 3rd and long ALL GAME like he was ALL YEAR because of run run sack punt.

Design the play so he can throw quick and not think to much cause he gets antsy. This is no surprise with the way our line has whiffed.

He aint Peyton Manning or Vince Young, but he does have the tools to be a heisman winning SYSTEM QB .

Problem is, Richt's system sucks for talent on hand.

Go Canes!

No I actually thought you meant QBR since we were discussing both QB's bowl performances. I dont know what that stat is, I guess some type of season long rating.

You see, the key to playing devils advocate is to actually have a valid point about what's being discussed.

When staying on topic, which would you rather have:

24-34 passes, including 19 of your final 21 passes with four touchdowns, no interceptions and 282 yards

Or

9-27 with two TDs, an interception returned for a touchdown and 222 yards.
