Dear Brad,
We thought you had a good chance at being a really great QB.
Your stats were impressive, but the big games and big wins just did not come.

There is no doubt that Brad Kaaya is a good person, player and teammate.
We can only wish him well at the next level.
Makes us proud Brad!
✋ how was Joe Mixon, oh nevermind, Mr.Kaaya how would you like too.....

Brad was a heck of a player, imo he was much better than many here give him credit for.
He certainly wasn't the best we've ever had here. He certainly had flaws.
But he helped us win a heck of a lot more than he made us lose.
Looking forward to a new chapter under center.
Going to be an interesting 2017 that's for sure.

A year from now, everyone will be bemoaning the premature departure of QB Brad Kaaya from the Hurricanes . . . including BK himself.

Goodbye Bradley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: SinisterCane | January 04, 2017 at 07:26 AM
Kaaya won't be starting for anyone next year so his only regret may be missing playing instead of backing up Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers or some other established QB.
Doesnt matter anymore. He's gone.
The only important thing going forward is that Epi is a big, fat jerk.

Gino Torretta won the Heisman Trophy in his senior year at Miami.
He has no issue with Brad Kaaya giving up any chance to do the same.
Torretta, who won the top award in college football in 1992, said he supported Kaaya’s declaration he will enter the NFL draft a year early, and said he will likely have a good pro career.
“You look at what he’s done: [throwing for nearly] 10,000 yards, [holding nearly] every record [at UM],” Torretta said on WQAM. “If he thinks there’s a chance to win a national championship based on what they have coming back, then you make a different decision.
“Just a hunch, but when you get your tooth broken” — as Kaaya did against Florida State — “and I think he’s been knocked out a time or two this season,” Torretta said. “I think he’d rather get paid to be knocked out.”
Torretta, a Sirius XM commentator, said Kaaya experiencing a college head coaching switch “will work in his favor” in the forever-changing NFL. Asked if he would recommend an NFL team draft him, he said it depends on the scheme and coaching staff.
“I like the kid,” Torretta said. “I think he’s done everything Miami’s ever asked and hasn’t complained, even though he’s had some crappy teams and some crappy schemes at times. … He can make all the throws. He could improve his mobility a little bit, but some of that stuff is [him being asked] to stay in the pocket.
Assessing him from a physical standpoint, Torretta said Kaaya has “fine” throwing velocity, “he can make the deep comeback, the 15-, 20-yard out route, which is the hardest throw in the game,” and is “a lot bigger than you think [and] will run a faster 40 time than you think.
“You always need good quarterback play in that league because of the injuries those guys have. I see him being very successful at the next level.
“It all comes down to the guys around him.”

If you look at his personal stats, obviously he broke all my records a long time ago. I think it’s really hard to compare guys who played in my era or [Ken] Dorsey, who had phenomenal talent around him.
“Name one guy Kaaya’s played with who could even play with Dorsey. I don’t think you can compare. I think he’s been a great kid, a hell of a player, done the best with the hand he was dealt.
“‘Quarterback U’ became Quarterback U because of great players around [the quarterbacks] and great defenses.”

I could only think of maybe a few at the WR spot. Dont think any of the RB's see the field, not the TE's, none of the OL, maybe Flowers. But if there is any, its a short list.

Put Andre alongside Richards, McGahee, Gore or Portis next to Walton, McKinnie next to KC, Taylor or Reed next to one of our safeties and what's our record this year?
Just one of those guys change our season. Now imagine having all of them.
Kaaya will be missed, now it's time to move on.

Coley, Richards and Njoku
2002 Outside of Andre Johnson and TE Winslow the WR was OK

Kaaya win not be missed

Yup...mmmmmmm hm...now I see what Blu was talkin' about. Gonna be hard to keep this kid off the field next year, and good luck keepin' em' at UM beyond 2020:

Coley is a no.
Richards probably, but he's gonna be one of Miami's greatest ever, IMO.
Njoku may translate to back then, but I think he's Shockey's backup.

Perry is ridiculously athletic and talented. MUST ADD WEIGHT. Kid is a bean pole.

Winslow and Johnson were receiving threats with Beard playing the possession guy. A Johnson Winslow Coley and Richards combo would have been sick

Mcgahee was a beast. ..pure speed and power. ..Edge...Portis...all start ahead of Duke. ..love Duke. ..but he fumbled a couple games away. ..if I recall. But, his runs vs BC fresh yr were a thing of beauty.
Anyone think Njoku would look great in Fins gear on Sundays? They surely don't want bellichek to get his hands on him. ...
God bless you and Go Canes!

Right now I'd love to see vegas set the odds on Perry vs. the field for 2017 starting QB, then see it again if Allison and Rosier each throw up a 5-12 for 80 in the spring game.
Posted by: Go Canes! | January 04, 2017 at 10:56 AM
The argument can be made a few players Kaaya had could be plugged into the Dorsey era, guys like Coley, Duke, Flowers, Richards, Perryman, but Doresy had elite UNITS all around. Doresy had elite RB's, TE's, OL, the entire defense etc. Had automatic kickers and punters, had elite returners etc.

That line-up isnt all that impressive IMO... but some talent there. I think Homer will get a lot of carries, the WR's will be talented but very very thin.

Posted by: UMike | January 04, 2017 at 11:54 AM
IMO, no way Evidence comes in and starts over Cager. Cager was playing great before he got hurt. I think Mullins will have an impact and Berrios is underused.
