More bad news TD...

Though former UM star David Njoku (who turned pro) was a tight end, Dugans said Evidence will not be a tight end here.

β€œHe’s a receiver.”

Wilder wasn't even really a take for us! He'll be a special teams specialist for us tho!

thirstybuzzardcane

Anyone know why the game is not on TV. I have xfinity and its channel 435. The guide shows its suppose to be on but its not.

thirstybuzzardcane

Anyone having problems with watching the game? I can't even watch it on my phone because ESPN blacked it out.

Hurricanes winning 34-31 at halftime. It's a good game. I think it's on channel 33 in Miami

JCane

Remember the second half vs. Duke? Yuck, so far.

Overall a really nice NSD, imo. Never hurts for next year's offensive recruiting needs (ie RB) to point out an up and coming really good OL to have in front of them, along with the rest of the group (ie WRs with great speed, etc.). All we need is a developing QB, and what RB wouldn't be thrilled to be in the middle of this offense coming in with the 2018 group? The opportunities should be amazing.

nemo2002

WWIN . . . without more stars will UM ever beat teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and FSU for another national championship?

If any statement has ever deserved a "There it is right there" it's this comment by CMR:

Ariz: Richt says the recruiting process has turned into a 3-4 year process these days. Said relationships begin at the 8th and 9th grade level

Canes men basketball losing by 19 with 1:41 left. 4 assists and 13 turnovers

Memo, let the Herb answer that star question. FAT chance that, that will happen. Bama brings in 20 4 star players or better every year, talent stacked 3 deep and a majority of each class is red shirted. They is no hurry to play them but with us we can't Rs but maybe 6 or 7 because of depth issues that we seemily miss at a couple positions every year. Fsu gets it, especially on defense where every year their bringing in elite Dee tackles and db's. We act like there is no urgency to bring in DT's, we brought one in last year and one this year. The one reason our Dee is better is that we finally got some talent at that position that, and a coach. Depth of talent at a couple positions continues to cause us problems and we shouldn't be sitting here with only one back this cycle and only adding 2 cb's. No back up plan and probably are sitting there with 4 ships in our pocket. I saw this Davis kid verbal to Pitt and he was the number 15 back and under armor A-A but to my knowledge we didn't go after him. I like our class, especially the speed at wr and the haul at o-line. 15 years is a long time to wait. We just can't keep missing at positions of need or getting linked at the witching hour.

Herbieibis

Sorry Nemo hit the wrong letter.

BigWindyCane1

The Canes were 9-4 this season, with a chance to improve this upcoming season. The Canes have NFL caliber talent on the two deep roster, but probably not enough depth. Still, there will be more quality depth this upcoming season than last season. There is enough talent on this roster to win the ACC coastal, but everything has to fall into place and the Canes must avoid injuries at key positions.

I like wins on NSD just like everyone else, but I like wins in the fall even more. This staff will develop this roster and I think the Canes will take a step forward this season

Ohio_Cane

It is NOT a debate. Thomas beats Harley. Pretty easily actually. Harley is a speedster, but Thomas has ELITE speed.

BEERicane

We shall see if Thomas makes the grades to get in.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | February 01, 2017 at 10:24 PM

They both have elite speed. This would be a close race imo.

CaneRock

Richt's never won more than 9 games with either a true or RS-Fr at QB.

9-4 with Stafford (True Frosh) in 06'.
6-7 with Murray (RS-Fr) in 10'.

Yes! Hell...we've been producing just as many NFL players as ANYBODY these last 5yrs and we've been down! What do you think is going to happen when we add good coaching to that formula???

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: 1mg Of epi | February 01, 2017 at 11:39 PM

The counter is that UGA always recruits, but I agree with you. I really think SoFL is just the scumiest place to recruit too. Coaches I think direct kids away from Miami. Whats up with Shannon? Dude was black listed as Miami's HC, but now as FU DC he's closing kids. Hmm...

Dude on a Pale Horse

With all of Miami's natural advantages, there's zero reason that Richt cant establish Miami at the top of the Coastal forever, unless of course, he's a sh*tty HC. I really wish he would have hired a really qualified OC and stopped the bs. He's not an outstanding OC and ultimately I think it we will just be a 9 to 10 win team until he sees the writting on the wall. His play calling will always hold us back I think, but everywhere else he will do really well.

Go Canes!

USC hired from within. The majority of those coaches have been there since Sark got hired. Helton has been there since 2010.

And don't you think CMR and Co planting seeds about how UGA is the only place for those kids from the time they're in 8th grade plus the relationships the new coach built at Bama combined to make them an exception rather than the rule?

CoCane

We got robbed in Espn's class rankings. We have more overall commits, top 300 commits and more 4* then #11 Texas A&M, #10 Auburn and #9 Clemson. The f*ck sh*t is endless...

CoCane

We have a top 10 class...

Go.. there have been people telling our recruits Miami is the place to be for yeas too.

raizecane

In his first full recruiting cycle, Kirby Smarts hauls in the #3 class. I am guessing Georgia fans are not missing CMR at this moment.....

And we have a coach who couldn't possibly have deeper relationships to 305 schools in Rumph.

LSU is another example.

After reading this...

http://totalfratmove.com/alabama-football-is-the-best-car-dealership-in-the-country/

I'm tempted to say that Miami should not only use a luxury car dealership, but brazenly make three year contract offers to recruits and publish the financial details. No paper bags, but contracts in Halliburton briefcases. And when the NCAA cries foul, when ESPN says that this is the worst thing in college football and a determinet to the students who are engaged in some athletic endeavors, I'd say

WHAT ABOUT ALABAMA?

Go Canes!

Again, LSU hired from within and kept most of their staff, only upgrading big time at OC with Canada.

They would follow that up with... "you're NOT Bama!"

Raize Georgia Fans are pissed at that 8-5 record in 2016 compared to 10-3 in 2015. Also pissed that Miami finished 9-4 and ranked in 2016 when Miami was preseason unranked. Compared to Georgia who was preseason ranked in the top 20 but finished ranked in the top 40. Their are a bunch of Georgia Alums/Fans who are really skeptical of the Kirbster and really miss CMR.

Valid point. Does anybody know how many kids we signed from Georgia??

Raise we signed 2 from Georgia they were teammates at same high school. Dee Jay Dallas and Z. Hillery. From Brunswick Georgia.

And UGA has been pulling classes like that for years.

It's not a new thing, CMR has been doing it.

You either can make the sale, or you can't...has very little to do with "relationships".

Brown was recruiting McFarland since the 10th grade, He got beat.

No excuses for Rumph losing Edwards & Henderson...no way in hell UF's DB coach had a longer relationship with those 2 than Rumph.

I mean what's next, do these coaches have to be in the delivery room cutting the umbilical cord to get kids to come to UM?

No excuses.

Terrance Sullivan

Lol Rock.

CaneRock

But to give these coaches the BOTD, they're recruiting against a lot of things that are out of their control.

When a kid goes to Tuscaloosa,Gainesville,Athens,Baton Rouge, etc, and sees anywhere from 80K to over 100K in the stands, that's tough to recruit against.

IMHO, that's tougher to recruit against than "relationships".

raizecane

If I am the NCAA, I am keeping an eye on Maryland. For the previous 4 years, they landed the 40th or worse recruiting class. However, first year coach D.J. Durkin has given Maryland the 18th best recruiting class in 2017. And we know what happened at the last minute with McFarland.
