The Hurricanes have won a road game against all but three league opponents: Virginia (0-3), Wake Forest (0-2) and Louisville (0-1).
Larrañaga Wins 600th Career Game
Coach Jim Larrañaga won his 600th career game at Pitt on Jan. 14, improving to a 600-395 mark in 33 seasons as a head coach. Larrañaga’s 600 wins place him at 47th in all-time NCAA victories and 14th among active coaches (as of games through Jan. 12). Of those 14, five are in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, including four from the Atlantic Coast Conference. In his career, Coach L has won 27 games at American International, 170 at Bowling Green, 273 at George Mason and 130 at Miami. He is one of 15 coaches all-time with 100 or more wins at three D-I schools, four of whom are actively coaching. If we get Thomas and Harley that is ALOT of speed. With Nojoku we get an excellent RZ target with enough wheels. Pouncey seems to be a good all around rec.
Those 4 would be a huge injection of talent and we have a pretty good chance of landing this haul.

Your right, it's always great to be a Hurricane. However, what is happening today will directly impact all of us and our kids so it's kinda important.

If Harley still chooses WV it' will be the most epic troll job ever.
After all is said and done he's still a S Fla kid. I hope he's not doing that to his hometown team.

Throw in Anthony McFarland (RB) and Jhavonte Dean (CB), and its a good recruiting year. Throw in another offensive tackle and I am very overjoyed Canes fan.

Ten recruits who could flip before National Signing Day
Jhavonte Dean, CB, Alabama
Dean emerged as the No. 4 cornerback in Scout.com’s 2017 junior college rankings while excelling at Blinn College in Brenham, Tex, but he played his high school football at South Dade Senior High in Homestead, Fla. That’s why it’s no surprise he’s showing interest in Miami. After visiting the program earlier this month, there seems a decent chance Dean could join head coach Mark Richt’s first full recruiting class in Coral Gables. Dean would be a promising addition to a Hurricanes secondary that’s already set to bring in highly coveted Christopher Columbus (Fla.) High safety Trajan Bandy and should compete for playing time right away following the departure of second-team All-ACC member Corn Elder.

The mix of a huge catch radius guy like Njoku and the 2 speedsters will really make it alot easier for a QB.
Speaking of Njoku, David is going to kill it in the NFL. He is getting high praise and they still dont realize this guy is just getting started.

Hope these dreams come true, with the wr's and also a possibility of Holmes coming in from N.D. The Herb is looking ahead and after next year we could be out 5 DT'S, that's if Willis and Norton leave early, so although we have Ford we still need to add another DT or we could be a sieve waiting to happen.
Posted by: Herbieibis | January 20, 2017 at 05:46 PM
The Canes have two very good DTs in Norton and Willis. The best tandem the Canes have had in a decade. They can be special and will be the anchor of the D. Coach Kul really knows what he is doing. Kul moves Willis to DT, and he has his DTs among the leaders in TFLs on the team.
With the returning LBs, I don't think opponents will run the ball effectively on this Canes defense at all. This will be a top 10 defense. The DL recruits will exceed expectations.

Windy,
Don't forget about McIntosh.
Posted by: CoCane | January 20, 2017 at 07:26 PM
Definitely- McIntosh is a beast! NFL prospect for sure!
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | January 20, 2017 at 07:39 PM
Yeah McIntosh and Knorton were the starters

If we get those WR's we won't pick up Holmes...he's a backup plan in case we don't get those others
Posted by: WWIN | January 20, 2017 at 07:52 PM
I agree WWIN
Posted by: CoCane | January 20, 2017 at 08:36 PM
WW,
what do we have to lose in taking Holmes? I say bring the kid in, he's got the speed to contribute at KR. We are pretty far under the scholarship limit as it is.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | January 20, 2017 at 08:43 PM
He's what a Jr? So he counts for 2 years... I say bring him in regardless, but wait until the other guys sign their LOI so he doesnt scare anyone away for whatever reason.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | January 20, 2017 at 08:45 PM
Does taking Holmes set a bad precedent though? We dont want kids to think if it doesnt work out at the school you spurned Miami for, then you can always come home again.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | January 20, 2017 at 08:48 PM
F*ck Holmes

Coaches prefer freshmen over transfers...plus what has Holmes really done to make him a must-get???
Also how many WR's do you want on the roster because the 2018 class is loaded and I heard that we're supposed to be getting 5-6 in that class

Three key commits in the next 72 hours?
I think maybe yes.
Posted by: Go Canes! | January 21, 2017 at 06:42 AM
They are 100% a joke, because Garvin is a monster. While "stars matter", people don't realize part of the ranking is based on how many subscribers a certain fanbase has for that site.
Committed to Bama and Bama has 100k subscribers and that recruit will have a higher rating than if he flips to Miami and we have 50k subscribers. Just an example, not anywhere near exact numbers, obviously
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 18, 2017 at 12:49 PM
That's why the only one I pay attention to is ESPN rankings Ohio. We got 9 four stars on there and like only 4/5 on all the other sites. ESPN is very objective in the rankings and doesn't play the BS subscriber game like rivals, scout and 247. 247 is pretty good but let's be honest, scout and rivals are dead.

More than any other player on the Canes roster, McIntosh's growth from a backup DE into a top tier DT demonstrates the ineptness of the previous staff under DNo and Golden. Now, with the Canes DL under the guidance of coach Kul, the Canes will regularly have high NFL draft picks on the DL. The Canes might have had an NFL prospect this year if AQM didn't have such an attraction to expensive cars.
The Canes don't have many DL recruits, but Johnson, Ford, and Garvin are the kind of traditional "Miami (as in old school Butch, JJ, etc.)" recruits that this program was built on - Explosive off the ball, athletic, hard-working, well-conditioned, loves making plays and has fun out there. These traits matter more than stars or hype. Size and stats alone don't cut it. This seems to be the biggest shift in recruiting focus under CMR. I think a few coaches under the previous staff, like Hurley Brown, tried to recruit traditional "University of Miami-type" players, but Paul Williams, DNo and Golden extended offers to too many recruits that lacked those key traits.

On a side note, my 11 year old broke his arm in a basketball tournament Dec 4th. He just got cleared to play yesterday. His team is in another tournament today. First game...AGAINST THE TEAM THAT BROKE HIS ARM.
My son's team does lose, but he scores 15 in his return (almost half the team's points) and has an outstanding performance. That's how you come back from adversity!

What happened to Rivals? Was it cutbacks to staff? Or did word get out about their flawed weighting?
