On a day of personal bests, led behind seven made 3-pointers and 26 points by senior guard Davon Reed, the University of Miami men’s basketball team edged out NC State, 84-79.
Looking for the series sweep, the Hurricanes fell behind early, trailing 21-11 at the halfway mark of the first half.
However, the Canes clawed their way back to even the score at 30 apiece, with less than five minutes to go in the half. Another run, sparked by a Dennis Smith Jr. 3-pointer, helped the Wolfpack enter the locker room leading 45-36.
Following two made free throws by Abdul-Malik Abu, Miami (15-7, 5-5 ACC) tallied a 15-5 run to take their first lead of the second half, 53-52.
With 8:30 left to play in the game, Miami trailed NC State, 61-58. Led by back-to-back 3-pointers, from sophomore Anthony Lawrence Jr. and Reed, the Hurricanes took the 64-61 lead that they refused to give up.
As Smith responded with a three of his own, freshman guard Bruce Brown knocked down his own shot from beyond the arc, while junior point guard Ja’Quan Newton nailed a jumper, to give the Canes a 69-64 lead.
With a pair of free throws, with 4:07 left to play, sophomore center Ebuka Izundu surpassed his career-high, hitting his 15th and 16th points of the game.
In the closing 30 seconds of the game, Lawrence set his own career high with a couple made free throws to give him 19 for the game. Following a made 3-pointer by Terry Henderson, Brown ended the game with an electrifying dunk.
NC State (14-10, 3-8 ACC) finished the night shooting 27-for-48 (56.3%) while Miami finished 31-for-62 (50.0%). The Hurricanes outscored the Wolfpack 48-34 in the second half. Four Hurricanes scored in double figures: Reed (26), Lawrence (19), Izundu (16) and Newton (13).

Falcons 41, Pats 20.

It hurts seeing James Whie (St. Thomas) and Devonte Freeman (Miami Central). I saw them both play in high school, and Shannon didn't recruit them. White played with Giovanni BERNARD, another player Shannon didn't recruit. Butch did recruit him though while Shannon chased lesser players
I don't think CMR will have multiple big misses like that.

I thought they had a music show at halftime?
Sorry this crap sucks; no talent!!

A whole lot of props, very little substance...
I'll still give Lady GaGa the business. She got that "venus fly trap". Strait man eater!

VACane...I am definitely not a GaGa fan but it was OK all things considered.

The Patriots have an uphill battle at 28-3, with 8 minutes left in third quarter

What a colossal choke job by Atlanta. How does Ryan take a sack that potentially costs them the SB.
Posted by: Go Canes! | February 05, 2017 at 10:18 PM
OMG worst choke ever!

Brady Pats did what it takes...60+ minutes...you never quit. They executed even way down; unfortunately for ATL they stopped executing and doing what put them up. Brady is incredible, and the OL really stepped up. great game thats how it is done!!!

Brady just solidified himself as the second greatest quarterback of all time. Well done Patriots.
Of course, number one remains Dan Marino.

Bad decisions from Matty Ice, the HC and OC gift wrapped another SB for the Pats. I feel for ATL's fans...

VA Cane, as a coach what were the top three mistakes you saw that the Falcons made in the second half?
The one that stuck out to me was snapping the ball with 17 seconds left consistently in the fourth quarter.
Posted by: TonyCane | February 05, 2017 at 11:06 PM
Didn't know this:
Most Pass Yards in Postseason Game
1986 Divisional Bernie Kosar 489
Super Bowl LI Tom Brady 466
2011 Wild Card Drew Brees 466
Posted by: Go Canes! | February 05, 2017 at 11:12 PM
Lol Dan is top 5 all time, but Tom is the greatest I just threw up in mymy mouth.

VA - I'm not a fan of her pop tunes, but check out some of the duet stuff GaGa did with Tony Bennett. She's got some talent.
So depressed the Wonder Twins of Evil won yet another SB. Falcons had em tho and blew it. After Julio's "most athletic catch I can remember in a SB", ATL had it won. Don't take a sack. Don't hold. Do kick a field goal...ahhhh
Oh well, gotta admit it was a comeback for the ages. Just sick of B squared.
On stars....they very much matter when talking percentages. But not so much with individuals. Stars don't measure heart and too many 4-5 stars have had the world given to them since they were 6 yrs old. Adversity hits them eventually and many crumble.

TC I agree with you about snapping the ball; take more time to see what the Pats are doing to counter them.
The back completely missing the blocking assignment on the Matty Ice fumble...big error...
The holding call, which was obvious, you cannot make that error....
Ryan several times, but in that last sequence especially, taking the sack and pushing them back further
get rid of it...throw it in the seats.
I really felt The O rushed...but when the Pats started coming back you need to look a little longer before rushing the attack.
Brady showed a lot of poise...the whole team did they never really panicked....thats a big key to coming back.
Sad for Atl, respect for Pats!!!! Never Quit!
