Big win indeed.......

Go Canes!

If he can somehow win one here, he'll belong on the Mt Rushmore of UM coaches.

Fraser, Schellenberger and Morris need a fourth....

CaneRock

Great win. Gonna be tough, but I'd still like to win at least 2 outta the last 3.

Ariz:

Interesting note on grad transfers

It is very likely that Miami pursues grad transfers at BOTH corner and safety.

Not saying they will actually land two guys, but if everything works the way they want, then it is very much in the picture for them to land two grad guys at DB.

Dee Delaney from The Citadel is visiting this weekend and Miami likes him at CB. No safety names set in stone just yet but remember more names will emerge after spring as some guys decide to move on from their current schools.

Ohio_Cane

I know it's for the 2019 class, but we lead heavily for the nation's #1 and #3 RB's. Noah Cain and Nyquan Wright.

VfB_Cane

An ACC road as impressive as they come:
* only two days of rest
* on the road
* against a ranked team
* with only 8 scholarship players available
* of which 4 are freshmen
* in overtime
* after the potential game winning shot at the end of regulation didn't count

Incredible.

CaneRock

Huh, and all this time I thought Wright was C/O 18'. Crazy that Him,Cook, & Tyrese Cooper all played on the same youth football teams.

Ohio_Cane

FYI, RB Jalen Patterson (who's committed currently, and has been for almost 2 years) is being dropped by Miami. Staff not recruiting him at all. Committed to Golden and never decommitted.

Interesting. Kid is the #67 overall recruit in the ESPN 300.

CaneRock

Delaney would be a great get. How in the world did He fly that much under the radar coming outta HS...

Need help understanding. What is the difference between a non-commitable offer and no offer?

UMike

Im pretty sure the term "non-commitable offer" is a term made up by FSU fans. I'm not even sure such a think exists... just a term used by a fan when their team loses a recruit.

Non-commitable offer: We're offering U a scholarship to our school, pending other player's decisions. If they choose us, U can't come here. If they don't choose us, U can.

No offer: We don't want U

CoCane

Yeah... What is the deal with Patterson. Why don't we want him?

We have 2 MUCH better RB's committed, and don't need a 3rd.

Go Canes!

I think every school sends out a ton more offers than they have spots.

I'd guess as certain positions start taking shape (Lingard and Davis) the other ones holding offers from become a "non-take".

Ohio_Cane

Golden literally gave out 300 offers in 1 recruiting calendar. Anyone think we were taking all 300?

BINGO

TonyCane

Ohio, I wonder if other schools do the same thing. For instance, does Rice or App State offer everyone in the ESPN 300, just so they get their names out there?

BEERicane

Rice is actually a superb school. They offer and receive transcripts, then admissions offices says "Nope" then the coaching staff says, I tried and held up my end of the deal so they can retain their job and cast blame for their shiftiness on the institutional standards.

Pretty great setup for coach Bailiff

100% positive they all do it.
]
Now, sometimes a coach or staff member will talk to a kid and say "hey, we're willing to offer you a scholarship, do we have any shot with U?"

If the kid says, "no chance, my top schools are Bama, Miami, etc", then they won't offer.

I see kids posting all the time about offers they're getting from small schools like App State, Montana, etc and they're a top 50 player in the country. They know they have no chance, but they know their name will be out there.

CaneRock

I think Patterson's getting pushed out more at DB than RB.

Recruiting's a fuqed up game. My son's teammate had 3 offers from FIU,FAU, & USF. But guess what?...all three schools changed HCs after last season, and they all dropped His offer, ain't that some $h!t???
Good kid & football player, karma's a b!tch.

Musings of a wild-eyed meandering DECADES long Hurricane ' football ' fan. huh.

Firstly, don't ' sweat it ' Cane fan. Your men's basketball team will ABSOLUTELY be in the Tournament Which Matters the Most. No not the N.o I.nterest T.ournament. duh.

Secondly. Yes I know ' politics ' shouldn't be uttered in forums such as this Orange and Green entity. Nevertheless, I can't help myself. So please give me a break. LOL

For example, I opined that it would be SPECIFICALLY OPEN SEASON on Black men and those sissy liberals. With Donald John Trump as America's 45th POTUS.

Well, your boy Donald John Trump has recently signed a new ' executive order,' which gives law enforcement agencies much BROADER POWERS AND AUTHORITY!!

Now U can ' infer ' what those new police ' powers and authority ' will lead too and what not.

But I still hold to my cards regarding ' open season ', and I wouldn't want to be a Black man in the USA today! Well at least an uppity, arrogant, radical Brother man. huh.

Now I understand why Mr. Jim Brown ( The greatest NFL running back, by the way. ) gave SUPPORT and great umbrage to one Donald John Trump recently.

Oh, and one more thing. Go Canes!

Happens ALL the time.

Imagine a kid who's been committed to a school/coach for a long time, and all of a sudden, the day before NSD, his offer is pulled to be given to someone better who wants to flip?

Now, imagine that kid had shut down his recruitment for the last year plus. Where's he gonna go? Sure, someone will take him, but who? Probably a smaller school than who he was committed to.

That happens, too. Recruiting can be a dirty game, and is part of the reason these kids don't "shut their recruitment down" as often as we fans would like. Some do it for attention, sure. But some do it to protect themselves.

Go Canes!

It's good to be in this position for a change. Lingard and Davis are the best RB recruiting class in years, but it also says the Canes coaches aren't just looking at stars and rankings, but recruit based on what they have actually seen and evaluated themselves

247Sports' Still-too-early Top 25 countdown: No. 19 Miami

TonyCane

If Cook does want to come, let him. Competition. Is not bad.

BigWindyCane1

ESPN Way to early top 25:

16. Miami

2016 record: 9-4, 5-3 ACC
Returning starters: 6 offense, 8 defense, 1 special teams

Key losses: QB Brad Kaaya, RB, Joseph Yearby, WR Stacy Coley, TE David Njoku, G Danny Isidora, CB Corn Elder, FS Rayshawn Jenkins, S Jamal Carter Sr.

Outlook: After winning nine games, including Miami's first bowl victory in a decade, Mark Richt's first season as coach of his alma mater was an undeniable success. Miami's defense under coordinator Manny Diaz was much improved, even with the Hurricanes starting three freshman linebackers. If the Hurricanes are going to improve in Year 2 under Richt, they'll have to find a replacement for quarterback Brad Kaaya. The program's all-time leading passer is leaving early for the NFL draft. Sophomore Malik Rosier, who has thrown 61 passes the past two seasons combined, is the favorite to replace him, but freshmen Jack Allison and Evan Shirreffs might also get looks. The Hurricanes will play three of their most difficult ACC games on the road in 2017 -- at North Carolina, Pitt and Florida State.

For more on how the Hurricanes will look in 2017, check out Miami's recruiting profileInsider and ESPN RecruitingNation's class rankings.

Reading between the lines in Richt's statements I would say there is a greater than 50% chance that we have a Freshman QB in 2017.

100% agree.

HOWEVER, it would be a shock if he did. Especially with Lingard and Davis already committed. Although, FSU just had a ridiculous RB haul this past NSD, so U never know.

I second your notion!

TonyCane

Ohio, remember when USC had nine five-star running backs on their roster about ten years ago? Still hard to believe that they could credibly sell an opprtunity to each player that they were bringing in. I've never seen anything that has come close to that.
