2016-17 Team Highlights
Miami defeated three ranked teams this season, downing No. 9/6 North Carolina, No. 10/11 Duke in Coral Gables, and No. 18/19 Virginia on the road.
This is the third-straight year and the fifth time in Coach L’s six seasons that the Canes have defeated two top 15 teams.
After receiving votes in at least one poll each of the first 16 weeks, Miami entered the national rankings for the first time in the 2016-17 season at No. 25 in both the AP and USA TODAY Coaches Poll on Feb. 27.
Jim Larrañaga has posted five 20-win seasons in his first six years at UM and the Canes have won seven or more ACC games each season under Coach L.
Senior Davon Reed is the recipient of the ACC's 2017 Skip Prosser Award, presented annually to the top scholar-athlete in ACC men’s basketball. Reed will graduate in May with a degree in sports administration and double minors in communications and marketing.

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG had five-star quarterback Kellen Mond last season, but now he’s off to Texas A&M. The Florida powerhouse should be sitting pretty with four-star Artur Sitkowski after his performance at the adidas tournament.
Sitkowski, a Miami commit, had one of the strongest arms here. He delivered excellent passes all weekend, was fluid and comfortable in his drops and was absolutely the team leader.
Rated as the fifth-best pro-style quarterback in the class, Sitkowski made a claim for an even higher ranking. He could be a special quarterback down the road for the Hurricanes.

His numbers last year were very bad.

Agreed.
He's impressing in 7v7, though, which is better than the opposite.

Everyone here knows that as soon as young Mr. Sitkowski puts on a helmet with "The U" on it he will instantly become a first round NFL draft pick just like my boy Kaaya.

Rayshawn Jenkins
Rayshawn Jenkins helped himself a lot today:
Bench Press: 19 reps
40-yard Dash: 4.51 official
Vertical Jump: 37 inches (T-4th best among safeties)
Broad Jump: 128 inches (10.7 feet) (3rd among safeties)
Jenkins had a great day. No, an AMAZING day! He outran plenty of corners and was given props for his fluidity during drills.
Jenkins and Kaaya had great combine performances and should move up draft boards

I'd do it...ITU:
"Former Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich spent multiple days at the University of Miami last week according to multiple sources.
Helfrich met with Miami head coach Mark Richt and other staff members. He was also at team workouts.
Richt served as the Hurricanes’ offensive play-caller last season, his first at Miami, and the Hurricanes ranked eighth in the ACC (out of 14 teams) in total offense and sixth in scoring.
Helfrich, 43, spent four seasons at Oregon (2009-12) as the offensive coordinator under Chip Kelly guiding a spread offense that was ranked highly nationally in several categories.
Helfrich took over as head coach when Kelly left to be the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Helfrich went 37-16 in four seasons (2013-16) including winning a Pac-12 championship in 2014. He was fired at the end of the 2016 season following a 4-8 year, Oregon’s worst in 25 years.
Miami will be looking to replace three-year starting quarterback Brad Kaaya, who left as the school’s all-time passing yardage leader.
Six quarterbacks are in the running to be the next starter including junior Malik Rosier, sophomore Evan Shirreffs, redshirt freshman Jack Allison, junior walk-on Vincent Testaverde, freshman Cade Weldon, and freshman N’Kosi Perry, who will arrive in the summer.
Spring practices at Miami begin on March 21."

Richt said they talked football. My god I hope it turns into a hire, Miami will be a legit Playoff contender with him. Exactly what Ive been saying.
Posted by: Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 7) | March 06, 2017 at 08:12 PM
I doubt they hire him. He was just there in a consulting role, to get some Cuban food and to enjoy the warm weather. Oh and maybe Joe's Stone Crabs and stroll on South Beach.
Posted by: 86Cane | March 06, 2017 at 08:18 PM
The fact that they even brought him in almost puts Mark Richt in "can not be questioned mode" for me. That is what big time football looks like.
God, I dont pray much because you dont really exist, nevertheless I go with my wife every damn Sunday to church to support her. If you can do me this 1 solid... Well, I might have to reconsider some things. Yours truly, Dude, Amen.

Posted by: Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 7) | March 06, 2017 at 08:20 PM
You know what else Go? I believe Helfrich was the guy behind the string of unknown guys that had success there also, like Thomas and Masoli.

Richards and Thomas in that O... A complete nightmare for everyone.
Posted by: Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 7) | March 06, 2017 at 08:23 PM
If we can hire a Helfrich, we'd be starting at a catagory 4 next year. I imagine Rosier would start next year and we'd beat FSU like a drum.

Probably, and Im not trying to say he will get hired, but it could have been that he needs to think or Richt does.
Posted by: Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 7) | March 06, 2017 at 09:02 PM
If I were Richt it would go like this:
1. Invite him for a free trip to the 305 for some sun and fun and then to casually talk "offense".
2. If he impresses the hell out of me, then we talk. If not keep stepping and go see South Beach.
3. If we decide to talk, the questions are simple: How much? When can you start? Are there any skeletons I need to know about? And lastly what play calling strategy and sharing can we agree on?

I am almost certain that is NOT what she said?
Posted by: 86Cane | March 06, 2017 at 11:17 PM
Just the fact that Richt brought him in is encouraging. If we end up w an offense that leans into its speed and skil players we could be competitive nationally next year.
Posted by: 1mg Of epi | March 06, 2017 at 11:28 PM
I am told that we are going back to the fullback, 2 TE and screen game. Keep it close to the line of scrimmage.
I am told that Richt only brought him in to disclose the weaknesses of the spread and how to attack it on defense.
He is NOT gonna be hired here.

Epi honestly I don't know. This is my Floor expectations. Obviously I hope we win the ACC because if we do that we are most likely in the playoff. And once you get to the playoff we have at the very least a 25% chance of winning a National Championship.

If that was all that was there, he would be in business.
But you will also see poor pocket awareness, freezing under pressure, and inconsistent footwork.
He doesnt suck. Just not a sure fire first rounder.
But Christian ponder was a first rounder, so I digress.

"God" is there, "He" is just alot different than we think.
But I am praying with you.
It may not seem like much, but this is a big deal. Golden visiting the Cowboys is completely different from this.
Remember when Saban brought Kiffin in for "consulting"? Nothing really happened at first then all of a sudden it was announced Kiffin was Bama's oc. He almost helped them get a fbs title with a true freshman qb and called many brilliantly designed plays.
Saban brought Kiffin in to kick the tires.
Richt is doing the same thing with Helfrich. He is thinking about a move.
The only thing working against us is Saban is a defensive coach, so hirirng Kiffin had more to do with a philosophy change.
Richt hiring Helfrich goes directly at who Richt is as a coach ego wise. He wanted to be hc and oc with mixed results. Will his ego allow him to accept that it didnt work out and make the best decision for the program?
Grab your popcorn. This will be fun.

Posted by: TruCane81 | March 07, 2017 at 09:12 AM
For the record I have Brad as a late 2ND round or early 3rd round pick. Basically a day 2 pick. So I expect him to be drafted between 52-65.

Anyone from the blog near Clearwater that would be familiar with a treatment facility named Operation Par? Friend of mine went there and needs to find a councelor/doctor/psychologist that treated him a few years ago. It's a French name that he doesn't know how to spell. First name is Sanis or something of the sort.
Any help appreciated
