Agreed. Great info OGV! CMR is the best HC that UM has had since Butch in his heyday. CMR is overdue for an historic run this season!

Sarasota 'cane

Glad to see the coaches and the school are not just going to roll over in this investigation. As they say in old movies, "They got nuttin!" This is a "he said, he said" story, and none of the UM staff turns up on any of the wiretaps.

With the firm denials of the UM staff, the AAU coach, and the amily of the recruit, the whole story hinges on a crooked money-man and the Adidas rep. I don't care what UM did or didn't do, play this hard and close to the vest and make the FBI PROVE their case beyond a reasonable doubt. There is no reason that UM should not contend for, nor excuse themselves from a run at the ACC Title and another shot at a Sweet 16 birth in March!!

An average of two to three 'big' wins over ranked or rival teams regardless of rank a year before he got to UM and had gold-hen-girl-loser-for-life-against-the-primary-rival-dude ruin the streak in the regular season. I'd say he's overdue if anything for a breakthrough ahead of schedule then. He's also winning games at UM at a higher clip percentage-wise right now than he did for his entire career in the SEC, for what it's worth.

Yes, that's true! But it would have been fun, if, toward the end of the game, we ran a multi-lateral play (and we scored), if only to reinforce our image as the most brazane college football program in the country.

Troy, Memphis and App State can't say that and I think they are still one step below where UCF and USF are now and where they are headed. UCF and USF are now blessed with good coaching and that is a difference maker that they did not have before.

Posted by: 58 Straight | October 02, 2017 at 08:35 PM

The State of Florida produces more talent now than it did when Schnelly and Butch were coaches. The amount of talent being produced today is astounding. I once heard Willie Tagert comment on that on a recruiting trip at Traz Powell when recruiting his QB from Miami Jackson. It's enough 3-4 star talent (if you can qualify them to play) to feed multiple high-level programs.

BigWindyCane1

If you have ever been to UCF and their 50,000 students their Coed talent level is right up there with Miami. Yeah, I said it.

Posted by: 58 Straight | October 02, 2017 at 05:54 PM

I've recently toured both UCF and USF campuses, and both have definitely built a program with more coed talent than any program in the country. Lol. FAU and FIU aren't far behind. They just haven't caught up with the academics and athletes yet

58 Straight

Terrance...there is one BIG difference: UCF and USF's access to top talent in Florida. The big three can only take their respective 85 each and while the 5 stars will continue to shop themselves around to the top 5 HOT schools/coaches of the day I think UCF and to a lesser extent USF will eventually get to the point where they have enough local grown talent of 3 stars dotted with the occasional 4 star that could make them very competitive and maybe even take them over the top.

Troy, Memphis and App State can't say that and I think they are still one step below where UCF and USF are now and where they are headed. UCF and USF are now blessed with good coaching and that is a difference maker that they did not have before.

"what the latest with Walton??

Posted by: raizecane | October 01, 2017 at 03:43 PM"

He said he tweaked his ankle again and they expect him to live in the training room this week, so he'll be all numbed up again on it for the game against the primary rival.

The champagne is in the fridge getting cold starting right this moment, it's up to Smart Mark and company to get the cork out of the top now . . .

Terrance Sullivan

UCF has a puncher's chance, USF doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell.UCF is in the category with UConn, Cincinatti, Memphis, Houston,BYU, Boise State, Air Force, NAvy, Colorado State, San Diego State, SMU, East Carolina, on maybe if the Power 5 all go to 16 teams if they dont then they will be where they are at.

1mg of Epi

If Tom petty ain't dead yet, he will be. Soon.

Terrance Sullivan

Not happening USF and UCF ain't moving into the big time any time soon and will remain the 4th and 5th wheel. The reality is the Miami, Florida State, and Florida gets Grown People Money 30 million dollars or more before first ticket sold and have Athletic Budgets of 70 million-110 million annually. While USF and UCF gets roughly 5 million before they sale their first tickets and have Athletic Budgets of roughly 25 million to 30 million annually. It's a similar set up when people make comparisons to say Troy and UAB compared to Auburn and Alabama, or Memphis compared to Vanderbilt and Tennessee, or Georgia Southern, Georgia State compared to Georgia Tech and Georgia, or Appalachian State, East Carolina, Charlotte compared to North Carolina State, North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest. Unless USF and UCF makes into a Power 5 conference they will be in their lane. They need to worry about keeping FAU and FIU out of their lanes lol.

Go Canes!

Ariz: The Canes will practice in the Dolphins bubble tomorrow morning. Weather didn’t look good for practice tomorrow

Sarasota 'cane

I would further add that I kinda feel sorry for UCF and USF...but I really don't. I don't want a diluted talent pool on signing day like they have in Texas and California. "F" 'em. UM, FSU, and UF built this shyt, they can have the scraps! BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Go 'canes!!

Sarasota 'cane

Posted by: 58 Straight | October 02, 2017 at 05:54 PM

I would agree but for the demise of the Big East and the creation of the Super Conferences. They all but relegated these schools on the "outside looking in" to also-ran status with regards to competing for ships, and as such they will miss on a lot of the 4-5 star talent who want to compete at the highest level.

UM, FSU, and UF will always be part of the "Big 3" until further notice!!

What do you spacers think about the idea that UCF and USF will be better than FSU and UF longterm because Tallahassee and Gainesville suck as cities?

Posted by: HillViewCane | October 02, 2017 at 02:02 PM

On this issue I side with the progressives. As in young progressive students who prefer the new urban life and its progressive ideals over the good ol boy networks in Trailerhassee and Trashville.

Change is happening all across college football and the playing field is being leveled especially IF you take a long term view (10+ years). UCF and USF are in MUCH better cities than UF and FSU. For this reason alone I think UCF and USF, IF they can win, will definitely pull SOME talent out of Gainesville and Tallahasee and YES even Miami.

If you have ever been to UCF and their 50,000 students their Coed talent level is right up there with Miami. Yeah, I said it.

If the Canes beat every Coastal Division pretender this season (as they are very capable of doing), it will not matter.
