Duke? So Now we are talking about Duke?
We start talking about an ACC Title and now we are talking Duke?
Duke will get squashed like a love bug on a windshield in Gainesville by the Miami Hurricanes. They will go splat and be humiliated, no glory found here.
Book it, bet it, frame it, post it, tweet it and put your videos on all of the social media platforms. The game is over before it begins.
And do NOT acted shocked by these comments. This is easy, this is child's play. We will take this game, the Coastal Division and this conference by storm.
Why am I so confident? Because there are 10 things Canes fans do not know about this team. Ten important keys not yet revealed.
There are ten secrets to their success that they have been hiding, disguising and obfuscating until now. Only three will be revealed against Duke. The rest are saved for other ACC opponents. And they are going to be effective.
Like lobster and butter. Trust me!
Great and dominant performance by the Canes last night. This Canes team should beat FSU next week. Time to end that seven game losing streak to FSU, and to start and establish a Canes’ win streak in the other direction. The Canes are a much better team this season, and fortunately, they seem to be steadily improving each game. I get the feeling that the Canes have several areas they can improve on, and they seem committed to doing so. The Canes have the talent to run the table for the rest of the regular season, and if they do, the ACC championship is a real possibility. If they continue to improve, this could be a season to remember in Canes football history.

We dodged a major bullet there.

Agreed. Delaney played better. According to NFL Focus, coming into last night's game, Malek Young led the ACC in pass efficiency against. Young covered Junior wide receiver TJ Rahming, Dukes All-World WR, one-on-one most of the night. Ramming had nine passes thrown his way but he only caught two to gain 27 yards. Young may not have turned his head around on a few passes, but he can cover.
I was also pleased to see Jhovante Dean play more. Dean can really cover. They tested him, and couldn't complete a pass because he was right there. Michael Jackson has a nice tipped pass that led to Pickney's interception. And speaking of Pinckney, he proved to me once again that he can be truly spectacular and athletic when he is on his game.
I am pleased because IMO, I can see steady improvement in the Canes talented defense, with more room to get better. Diaz got them to tackle better. This defensive line is full of future NFL players. Coach Kul is doing a great job.

A major improvement was a lack of penalties for the canes.

Joe Jackson is a man. That kid is the most impressive young defensive player I've seen here in a long, long time.
Also thought Chad Thomas had an underrated game. He caused a ton of disruption other guys finished off.

We've won eight in a row, with the offfense averaging 39 a game over that span.
Like I said, sometimes the other teams going to make plays. It's hard to objectively criticize 40 per.
Posted by: Go Canes! | September 29, 2017 at 11:15 PM
We lost 4 in a row last year running headfirst into 8 man fronts, and throwing deep. Last night we again ignored the middle of field with the D rushing... everybody.
We've left yards on the field, which will kill us vs. better competition.
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | September 30, 2017 at 10:52 AM
^^^ I should add tho that the D looked improved over the first couple games.

Walton's long gain, Richard's TD's and Berrios's TD all happened exploiting the middle of the field didn't they?
Rosier's long designed run to the 1 was also called to exploit the middle of field.
Someone called those plays right?
Did Richt call a perfect game? Of course not.
But to call him a liability when we've won eight straight while averaging nearly 40 a game is really splitting hairs.
Posted by: Go Canes! | September 30, 2017 at 11:13 AM
Good morning brother Canes!
SOUP you were spot on with the prediction.
What I saw. ..
Rosier - steady, calm, can run(what an advantage)..still developing but helping this team.
Def - better than last 2 weeks. ..solid at times, DBs were quicker to cover and point of attack. DL had some good pressure on passing downs...run Def pretty good.
WR - AR is a difference maker and problem for opposing defs. BB is working on being a 5th round pick to the stinking Patriots...hope not. .
Oh yeah Duke's front 7 is pretty damn good.
Had we executed more effective this game is 49-6.
God bless you and Go Canes! !

Yes Epi.
The d will have ups and downs cause there are no senior starters.
We need to lay points on teams with no mercy just in case the secondary has lapses against quality oppnents.
Redwine is coming on strong at free safety.
He was everywhere.
Posted by: TruCane81 | September 30, 2017 at 11:20 AM
I got to admit, there were a few times I had some Golden West flash backs lol... But overall looked good. Love how we actually make halftime adjustments on D

Rosier > Kaaya
Posted by: SOUP | September 30, 2017 at 10:46 AM
I agree Soup.
This system is Malik's wet dream.
He looks comfortable and knows where to throw most plays.
He reads the field and does not predetermine many throws.
Our qb can take us a long way if we stay versatile and DO WHAT IS WORKING.
Posted by: TruCane81 | September 30, 2017 at 11:24 AM
Redwine, Young, Pickney stood out for me on D. Richards, Berrios, Walton, and Rosier on O.
Posted by: 30CINCO | September 30, 2017 at 11:27 AM
I really like the way Young plays.
Too often you see guys get beat and not stay in the recievers hip pocket and always give up completions waving at a ball they can not see.
I always wondered why more guys did not ignore the qb and ball and just play the recievers hands.
Young is showing how a less talented db playmaking wise can be an very effective member for his unit.

Duke will win 8 or 9.
They are a decent team that can beat you if you slip.
I know they a basketball school but so what lol.
This was a strong win no doubt.
But we want killers!
This group can beat anybody if we play like killers.
We can use quick passes to get up 3 tds against ANY DEFENSE in cfb.
Unleash the pass rush and there is your 6th national title in 2017.
Its right there!
But we gotta be RAZOR SHARP.
We not razor sharp yet but I will take game to game improvment.
The fsu secondary is way over rated and the offense is overwhelmed.
We should beat them by 20 by passing short to set up the run.
Lets get razor sharp. 12-0 aint a pipe dream.
We just gotta kill.

Posted by: TruCane81 | September 30, 2017 at 11:33 AM
Little bit of playing the result there imo. LIke I said, other teams pay their coaches, have scholarship players and make adjustments too.
Feel this tells the real story about our offense starting with the second half of the ND game when CMR started being a lot more creative and aggressive:
Notre Dame + 10
Pitt + 17
Virginia + 17
NC State +14
Duke +10
WVU +3
BCU + 10
Toledo +18
Duke +14
We havent been outscored in any second half in the last nine games and can't thing of many situations where I thought there was a legit chance we were going to lose.
Again, he isn't calling perfect games but as a whole, we are crushing other teams after initial and halftime adjustments have been made.
Posted by: Go Canes! | September 30, 2017 at 11:52 AM
Pat Bethel is going to earn NFL paychecks someday! Just U wait and see.
Man, the sky is the limit for Bethel, and he will absolutely IMPROVE as the season progresses! No ifs, buts or hUh.
In other words, with the steady gradual improvement of Bethel, Miami will have ' four ' defensive tackles playing significant minutes the rest of the season.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 30, 2017 at 12:00 PM
One reason, among others, why this system works better for Malik, is because no hips, hoe handle hips SKINNY Bradly was never a THREAT to run. Also, the man was slower than the day is long. huh.

Oh and WWIN I'm in Nashville all day today
Posted by: UMike | September 30, 2017 at 12:07 PM
No Go, this is a CONSISTENT PATTERN FOR OUR COACH.
I LOVE RICHT'S OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY!
The problem is he does not believe his eyes enough in the film room.
We run the ball well, we win, period.
Teams always try to stop our run first. We have Miami talent at reciever so they play us over the top.
This leaves huge swaths open ALL GAME EVERY GAME
underneath in the middle of the field.
When we go there consistently, we are a top five offense two years running,
Why do we NOT go there CONSISTENTLY?
Missing these kinds of keys, like not recognizing how much better Kaaya was in 3 step drop will cost us a return to true dominanance.
It is frustrating because Richt has been MASTERFUL at everything else.

This is Miami's THIRD game. While other teams have played FOUR or FIVE games now!!!! So I wouldn't be too concerned about the offense. Heck, once Rosier and the offense gets their GROOVE. Then Miami's offense will be a lot better and CONSISTENT too. dUh.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 30, 2017 at 12:19 PM
By the way, anybody with a pulse knows Richt knows quarterback play and whatnot. For instance, that stud QB from Washington state he delivered to Georgia, is currently ' No. 10 in the nation ' pass efficiency. The kid is a RS-freshmen, and MANY Cane fandom thought he would follow Richt to Miami. hUh

Richards is the best WR in college football. No defense should cover Richards one-on-one. Richards is a legitimate threat to score any time he touches the football. A healthy Richards will make this offense very explosive going forward, and open up more opportunities for other receivers and RBs.
I agree that CMR is holding back a little. I also see that Rosier, who had a great game, has room to improve.
Walton's stats weren't good, but I thought he played great with the opportunities he had. The offensive line, especially Donaldson, was inconsistent, but they did a good job on Travis Homer #24's TD run(perfect play called against the blitz and McDermot's great second level block downfield created the running lane for the TD), and a few other plays.

Its like we got Moss and Welker.

Herndon is an nfl tight end and can win EVERY game for us.
If we used Herndon properly, we can take Clemson or Bama in a shoot out.

Very valid point. Lot's of work still to do. Hopefully the offense will exploit things more definitively and the defensive backfield continues to improve as we get better conditioned and get more reps.
Also, Malik has been great and made some lights out plays but we need him to take care of the ball a little better once we have the lead and control of the game.

Amari Carter brings the wood.
I wish he was ready to play more minutes against fsu.
Say what you want about his coverage, but Jamal Carter's physicality was one of the reasons for the defensive turnaround last year.
Jaquan is talented but does not have that smae ferocity that intimidates opponents and helped hold fsu below average last year.
Posted by: TruCane81 | September 30, 2017 at 02:09 PM
Watching college football games like USC v Washington and Wisconsin v Northwestern, makes me feel that the Canes should be ranked higher.
The Canes have a lot of room for improvement, and as long as they continue to improve as they did the first three games, the Canes can have a very special year

It is turning out to be such a great decision to cancel Arkansas St. game. It would have been a waste of time. Arkansas St. is now 1-2, after losing to SMU 44-21 last week. The ASU AD and HC look like fools now.
CMR is really running a great Canes program right now. The Canes are in a great position to actually contend for an ACC championship

Which makes it even more inexplicable most of the game was spent not doing it. Ya know how we used to watch the same play destroy us.. over and over...3, 4, 5 times each drive? Exploit it till they stop u. Not once or twice in the first and last 5 minutes of the game.
We r leaving yards and points on the field.
