The Tale Of Two Halves

It was the worst of times. It was the best of times. 

That was the tale of the Miami Hurricanes football game against Toledo on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium before the good guys won convincingly 52-30.

In the first half the Hurricanes looked, well, like some smoldering dog crap.

Then, in the second half they looked like, well, the steaming cream of the crop. As fans, most were so angry in the first half that they would have fired the coaching staff and team. Then suddenly, a different team arrived. 

At that time we saw a completely different team wake up, smell the coffee, and dominate the second half. So the question remains: "Who are these Miami Hurricanes?" We are convinced that the answer is sure to follow...

Just watched the duke game again. Not impressed. While QB is good. He is not Logan. Their receivers not explosive like Toledo.

The pass rush is excellent.

Teams are quick passing because its so scary.

We gotta chip and bump recievers to disrupt timing, make the qb go to his second and third read, giving our guys a chance to make sacks and cause bad throws.

If our opponents KNOW a slot reciever will be WIDE OPEN EVERY play on a 3 step drop like has been the case the first two games, it wont matter if the dline is LT, JJ Watt, Reggie White, and Warren Sapp.

The rush will be in consequential if we dont eliminate the constant free releases and unaccounted for recievers pre snap.

No he isn't. He's going to live and die by that front four pass rush again this season and he'll end up having another good year by the end of this one to go with his competent one last year. The doofus you're referring to never even had one good season, just historically bad one after historically bad one no matter how cuffed regarding tempo the other half of the team played to try to protect the swiss cheese scheme that GD couldn't stop slurping up. I know that's a low bar to clear but they're still using smoke and mirrors this year to hide problems on the roster so it'll have to suffice for one more signing day. Good thing it'll be an early one I guess.

Is it just me, or does it seem that in the last ten years the University of Florida has more felonies and other high crimes and misdemeanors than any other school in the country...by far?

Perhaps the NCAA can make a special allowance for the Gators and allow them 105 scholarship players and 35 signees a year. That way UF can continue to field a competitive roster while allowing for the legion of players who have off the field issues.

It's absolutely NOT ridiculous to say the least. Now if U only had the eyes to see, then you would know it's a GOOD OL' BOY SYSTEM run by the NCAA. And Florida ( And the SEC. ) are just a few members of that system. Along with the vast majority of the Power 5 schools. Of course, there's always exception to the rULes. dUh.

When he was competent, at worst, for the year. Compared to five seasons of doofus and fatso stealing cash from the AD, that'll do fine and he can get better as he gets to use the entire playbook instead of the first few pages.

I will be watching this game very closely to see how the team, especially the defense, responds to its mistakes. The defense was better against Toledo than it was against BETHUNE Cookman. The defense will have to take another step forward against Duke. If I see improvement, that gives me hope that the coaches and players are capable of making adjustments and correcting their mistakes. Reduce missed tackles and assignments, and the defense will improve a lot.

The results I saw on the field made me very angry, but the wins and some honest reflection has led me to cool down. I will reserve my judgement on the defense until during and after this Duke game. I want to see how the Canes respond.

Canes opened as a -5.5 point favorite at Duke, but are now a -6.5 favorite. Vegas likes the Canes, although some Prognosticators are picking Duke. This could be an early test for the Canes. A win could launch a great ACC run, and extend the current winning streak to seven - now of the best Canes win streaks in the last decade.

At times, He wasn't all that last year either. 2 of the TDs we gave up last year vs FSU, were because of some of His bizarre underneath coverages...the same bizarre underneath coverages we've seen the first 2 games this year.

Oh, I presume there are exceptions. I understand that the game is being played. One school can have a coach with car leasing locations that is "leasing" to his players without a thought of impropriety, and another school can be thought of as worthy of the death penalty because a rogue booster gave an athlete 100 dollars.
