WRIGHT has been the Canes best CB so far ....

Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | September 27, 2017 at 08:39 PM

I meant Young, not Wright. Typo from autocorrect. Sorry

BigWindyCane1

If the Canes come out and run the ball effectively on Duke and Rosier doesn't turn the ball over, the Canes should win in a blowout. IMO, the Canes can run the ball at will on Duke.

I think the Canes defense will likely improve. The strength of this DIAZ defense is stopping the run, and Duke under Roper wants to run to set up the pass. If the Canes continue to stop the run on early downs and Duke gets into third and long situations, Duke will struggle mightily on offense.

The talent gap between these programs should show itself IMO

BigWindyCane1

One sports betting site is pushing the line on the Miami v Duke game to -7 in favor of the Canes, after opening at -5.5.

Message tonight from President Julio Frenk states in part as follows:

[W]e have confirmed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office that, at this time, it is investigating a potential tie to one member of our coaching staff and a student recruit.

While we are alarmed and disappointed, we are steadfast in our belief that we must also act with the highest level of integrity and commitment to the pursuit of truth. To that end, we have pledged our full and complete cooperation with the Department of Justice probe as well as to the NCAA, with whom we will jointly review any relevant matters.

WRIGHT has been the Canes best CB so far, and Bandy has been second best. I would also like to see Dean get some burn. The few plays Dean was in the Game at the end, he was all over his man. Dean may struggle with tackling, but No catches on Dean.

That said, I will have to trust the coaches' judgement for now, but Delaney and Jackson must get at least a pick or pass defenses during the game. It's up to them. Performance speaks volumes.

Nah but he's better than JJ lol

Anyone else think Knowles is better than Redwine?

slim32

Because of his size and flexibility I think they are using him very well. At this stage in his career it might be better longterm. Dont wanna burn a guy out that's his size in run support especially in short yardage or obvious run situations.

Carter should be making a strong push to start by the end of the year!

Posted by: nemo2002 | September 27, 2017 at 02:17 PM

Maybe! The only thing is the FBI has no evidence as far as recordings, messages, etc. So to bring charges on a coach would be tough. Now I guess the NCAA could do something when they get involved.

thirstybuzzardcane

No doubt, TonyCane!!!

They just said on ESPN that 2.5 million of Pitinos salary is from Adidas...how is that allowed?

Posted by: UMike | September 27, 2017 at 01:14 PM

It is my understanding that a university can provide that a specified portion of a coach's "compensation package" will come from one or more third parties (for "non-coaching" activities such as endorsements, TV and radio shows, etc.), which payments are guaranteed by the school. But I could be wrong!
Regardless, I have no evidence that UM stuctures it's basketball (or football) contracts this way.

nemo2002

I heard there is no evidence against Miami. The only thing they got is a coach from another school that ratted out one of our coaches. That's the only reason we were in the FBI report.

Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 27, 2017 at 12:06 PM

UM has never been one of "the good old boys". Miami is a villain and the NCAA would love nothing more than to be able to use their alleged involvement in this mess to sweep this under the rug IMO. The smart play here is to dig in like all the other schools do lately. Hell UNC just won a National Title while under the umbrella of what appears to be the greatest academic scandal ever alleged.
UM needs to defend the program and clean it up "in house". There is no advantage to going to the NCAA and falling on the sword.

TheeMackJones

ESPN/DraftExpress' J. Giovany projects Nassir Little as a NBA 1st Round selection ( One and done kid. ).

This latest NCAA scandal is just the beginning. I'm just wondering when the Pax Americana GESTAPO goes after major college football. Heck, the G-Men may be currently investigating major college football. Yikes.

Don't shoot. Don't shoot G-Man. LOL This is want the thugs and goons called FBI coppers back in the day.

" There’s also a perception that the NCAA committee on infractions isn’t sufficiently motivated to severely punish the few instances of blatant cheating that the enforcement division uncovers. Oh, and one more thing. NASSIR LITTLE is the Orange and Green elephant in the Miami recruiting machination. The kid played for an Adidas team- the same team who's director is in jail. In other words, there's a decent possibility that the kid is involved in the on going investigation, and the kid is a MAJOR TARGET of Jimmy L's program.

I'm just wondering if he's one of the numerous prep stars who was offered either $ 100,000 dollars or $ 150,000 dollars. OUCH.

RCCF

Nah, Im correct...

These bloggers used to throw Daggers at Running QB's there were even guys who Truly didn't want TeddyB... He's not a pocket passer, Miami runs a Pro Style Offense we don't want a QB going outside of what we know and running the ball. This was the Narrative for over 4yrs in this place so exaggerated it is Not.. They've been this way since the days of Omar so yea it's true, and the fact that Malik is even remotely getting a virtual handshake from any to few in this crew is shocking..

Sarasota 'cane

Great breakdown on State of the U of the timeline of UM's alleged involvement in this mess. I do not see any direct link or phone conversation that was tapped with a UM rep on the call. Plausible deniability is in play. Whoever coach 3 is they at least had the good sense not to talk over the phone.
I'm all for fixing this mess but the AD and the school need to do it "in house" this time. There is no advantage to "falling on the sword" with the NCAA. They will BBQ UM if UM admits to any of this.

Oh by the way 12%

raizecane

I just love the fact that MR can get out of the pocket and run for a first down and in one case last week, a TD. That just gives D-cord something else to game plan for.

WWIN

Where was this perfect Kaaya at that I missed seeing???

He OVERTHREW and UNDERTHREW WR's all the time... threw into double and triple coverage but DB's just dropped the ball and didn't come up with the picks. That's how stats can be deceiving... and this was his last game here with a month to prepare!

WWIN

You wanna go back to what we were talking about yesterday? We can... I'm always up for it! Lol

It's only been two games, but my thoughts on this Kaaya/Rosier thing are the same. I saw some missed throws I thought Kaaya would of easily made, but I also saw Rosier make plays Kaaya could of never made.

Yes Rosier made a couple of great plays with his legs and had a fine game overall. I have been very pleased with what I've seen so far from him.

But he also threw what could have been a catastrophic pick late in the game, which is something he's apparantly been dogged by his whole time here.

He's been solid and played very well. But that hasnt made me forget what could have been a fourth year starter who ended his career here putting up very big numbers without ever turning over the ball.

In my opinion that's the formula that will win us the most games offensively.

I hope Malik can avoid those kind of throws as we progress into the meat of our schedule.

Old Skool

Insomnia brigade research from the New York Times

The complaints announced Tuesday left tantalizing clues that what was alleged may only be the tip of the iceberg. One of the agent's involved urged the payment be increased because one of Adidas rivals was coming in with a higher number.

Also the investigation started in 2015.

Checked in to make sure all the Canespace family were doing good and accounted for. Sadly I see lots of politics being discussed as much or more than years ago. That was the reason I took a break from my favorite Canes site of all-time.

When I go to Canes games I don't care if jets fly over the stadium, if paratroopers fly into the stadium,if players stand kneel or loosen up I don care if the guy next to me stands, sits, puts his hand over his heart, or picks his ass, I don't care if soldiers, Boy Scouts,or clowns carry flags around. All I care about is if the Canes coaching staff gives us the very best chance to win the game, and that every player plays to the best of his ability and never quits.Going to games is a big investment in time and money nowadays root the Canes home and f all the media circus crap. It's POSSIBLE, that we're only named because a recruit was offered money to come to Miami (an Adidas school) by an Adidas exec.

This scenario clears Miami and it's coaches, and would piggyback on Bilas' point that some schools were a victim.

God please let this be what happened ^^^

thirstybuzzardcane

Richt needs to call plays like he did in the second half of the game last week. He really attacked all parts of the field.

thirstybuzzardcane

Agree TheeMackJones! Like to see the corners play more press and the DL go to town. Its the recipe for disaster!

TheeMackJones

Although Alabama and Clemson's quartebacks are no where to be seen in the Top 30 passing efficiency stat. Those two defenses make up for that anomaly. hUh.

Now if Miami's defense begins to play like a Top 20 defense. Then Miami will be SCARY good! No ifs, buts or what ever.

TheeMackJones

My main man, Rosier, is No. 15 is the nation regarding passing efficiency! Ouch. And that' s with only two games under his belt this season. Wow.

The kid from Toledo is No. 14 in the nation.

Oh, and one more thing. Duke's starting QB has ' NO. 81 passing efficiency ' rating.

Now if Miami's defense gets off to a good start. Then Miami will roll and roll and roll this Friday! No ifs, buts or huh.

thirstybuzzardcane

Jay Bilas said in at least one of these cases, the SCHOOL was the victim. God please let that be University 7. AKA, Miami.
