Can't wait to see what happens when these kids start to talk about who knew what, when they knew about it and what they did when they found out.

Can someone explain to me what has happened with Delaney? Did he play a different type of defense at Citadel? This guy was supposed to be a stud and he seems to have all the tools - so what is going wrong with him? It seemed that Toledo was just abusing him all day long.

He's playing scared, thinking too much maybe? Seems slower and rigid. Maybe just not the talent we thought.

LOL...so let me get this straight...NASCAR, a "sport" that has it's roots in criminality, their great grandparents killing cops to defy the actual law in the Constitution, has a problem with BLACK MEN exercising their 1st Ammendment rights?...LOL. Phuck NASCAR, they disrespect the flag by every race by flying the Confederate flag.

CaneRock

Shame too, NASCAR was once something to be proud of, took American automotive engineering to a new level, pushed the envelope and inspired American muscle cars...SMH.

Yea CR never understood that whole flying a foreign flag confederate thingS

Never been MORE proud of NASCAR.

Never been MORE ashamed of you Rock.

Go Canes!

This NFL kneeling thing has been politicized and bastardized beyond recognition at this point and has run the course of being an effective tool in raising awareness of any issue.

It's time to move on from it in my opinion.

In hindisght a much better initial face for that movement than Kapernik would have gone a lot farther in delivering an important message.

Showing up with a Che and Fidel Castro shirt after his protest destroyed his credibility from the onset and inevitably marginalized what serious men like Michael Bennett and others had to say after the fact.

There isn't a sport out there more "fan friendly" then NASCAR. I have been to many races and they treat every fan the same regardless of skin color.

And just because they are called "good ole boys" doesn't make them racists as you seem to be putting them in that category. JMO

Never watching NASCAR again! Don't care how many touchdowns they score!

UMike

What I hate is none of these organizations, NASCAR, NFL, NBA etc have actually tried to fix or help the issues that sparked the initial protest. It has become all about the anthem, all about the flag, all about politics, all about media and not at all about police brutality and racial injustice.

This was almost a dead issue until our President reignited and fanned the flames. I respect the opinions of people against taking a knee, but I also respect the players taking a knee and the reason for it. It was actually a veteran who suggested to Kap that he takes a knee. I think refusing someone's right to peacefully protest is one of the more un-American things you can do. Disagree all you want, but respect their rights.

NASCAR is extremely different culturally then other sports, so I wouldn't expect less from them. I am not saying they are racist at all, but if over 95% of the drivers, owners, crews, fans etc come From mostly white rural areas, how would I expect them to be aware of racial injustice or police brutality?

For me I refuse to let politicians, the media or our very own President put hate in my heart. If you want to take a knee I got your back. If you want to take a stand I got your back. I just ask you listen to the other side and find middle ground... Don't ignore or hate because your political "side" wants you to.

UMike,

you are correct in the above statement. the answer would be the same way that the whites who protest along with the African Americans and you see on the street hurling rocks and breaking windows know.....I am willing to bet 95% of those are not aware of racial injustice or police brutality either.

Its just sad that this country seems more divided in the last 10 years then in the previous 10. We are going the wrong way....

raizecane

Posted by: WWIN | September 26, 2017 at 09:43 AM

*************************************

When did this start being offensive? I am curious to know. I am 53 years old, attended many many sporting events in my life time and it never seemed to be an issue until recently....just saying.

UMike

Raize... I would like to respectfully disagree. First let me say I will never Support violence or damage to property etc, those are criminals not protestors. But to the point, I grew up in mostly black and Latino areas and I'm well aware of racial injustice, ive seen it first hand. So I believe whites who protest (not riot) side by side with blacks are aware.

UMike

I do agree we are going the wrong way. I wish President Trump would of said some along the lines of "while I do not agree with the way in which these athletes protest, it is their right to do so." Or "while I believe our national anthem is not the time to protest, I also think we need to do more to address the issues being protested."

Our politicians cannot wait to divide us...and sadly unlike me and you, the country as a whole cannot sit a talk, exchange thoughts and reasons and actually listen. Much easier to pick a side and stick with it

raizecane

We can respectfully disagree (its all good).....I believe most are out there because they disagree with the current president but that just this Cubans opinion, .... never the less, I think we as nation need to be more concerned about NOKO at the moment. That dude is just plain nuts and I fear its going to get really ugly and soon.

You know how it's some things that you put up with or shrug off till you finally get tired of it... this is one of those things for me.

I can't speak for everyone but as a black man I find a song written by a racist slave owner very offensive! And for me and my people to pretty much be forced to stand at a attention when this song is played says a lot about where this country stands. I just want for us to be treated equally. If it was a song offensive to whites I would feel the same way!

Serious question... do you honestly think that the anthem and flag was created with good intentions for ALL race's?

Probably not, but that doesnt mean it cant be. Keep in mind, this country wasnt created for my black brothers and sisters, at least not overtly. Anti-slave founders (many of which owned slaves) had to use some trickery to punt the football onto later generations. I will say this much WW, many blacks are in the military, and to many of them, the anthem which speaks of bravery & grit in battle applies to every generation, not just those that fought in the war of 1812, so my white grandfather that faught in WW2, Korea & Vietnam, its about him, and its also my about my black grandfather, a 25 year Marine with several tours in Vietnam. So I ask you, how much does original intent really mean? As Jefferson once said, "I like the dreams of the future rather than the history of the past." He was a believer that the dead shouldnt govern the future. We get to decide what it all means. Last thing, football players are not protesting the anthem itself, they are protesting against police brutality and a criminal justice system that allows cops to get away with murder. Big difference.

My best guess would be no. Funny thing, my wife always says that "America the Beautiful" should be our national anthem.

Ohio_Cane

Oh, and mark me down as "not caring" whether someone stands, kneels, sits, stays in the locker room, or comes out for it.

I respect the flag and national anthem, and I DO stand for it, but I respect those who feel the need to not do that for whatever reason, as long as it's not intentionally disrespecting our country and those who have fought for her.

Thats because you are a solid American, that respects the 1st A, even if (not saying you dont) you dont agree with the issue being protested.

COTDAMMIT stick to CANEZ football.

CaneRock

My apologies to you Raize & SOUP. I should've been more specific in my original post on the matter. I just take issue with people like Richard Petty that want to persecute & exile other Americans for exercising their 1st Ammendment rights, when more than likely His ancestors ended up in America because of persecution.

Go Canes!

What's happening in this country today just makes me sad.

Seeds of progress planted decades ago by truly great men have been purposely destroyed by a previous administration hell bent on making issues with race the rule rather than the exception and now this red haired buffoon is taking a sledgehammer to any remaining sign of growth.

Hundreds of millions of tolerant, accepting white Americans being pigeonholed into terms like racist, xenophobe or nazi only exacerbate issues. Just as portraying any protester, black or white, as anti-cop or even anti-American is disgraceful.

We're better than this. At least I hope we are.

As long as we talk about that, and not how much labor is getting screwed, its okay. The poorer the masses become, and the further away we get from the American dream, the more they will cling to these issues.
