Remember in the first half of the FSU game I said the canes were a second half team? Yup.

Yea gotta worry. They run that lightning fast O, which could be trouble for our secondary, but I think our front 7 has a feast.

Tongue in cheek, but this team reminds me of Ohio state 2002. Irony???

๐Ÿ˜‚ LOL. The thought crossed my mind too. But I don't think this team will face a juggernaut in the championship game, and the refs will certainly not help the Canes win a championship with a bogus call

Expext them to try and complete quick short passes to neutralize our rush. On D, they'll also try to force Rosier to make plays from the pocket. We need Richards back at full health so we can get some dynamic plays from WR. Also we've got to feed our beast in Herndon. Our OL has got to give Malik a clean pocket and Homer 4 or 5 real good looks.

BigWindyCane1

These guys have FORTITUDE and it has been a long time since we can say that.

Posted by: TruCane81 | October 14, 2017 at 09:26 PM

No doubt. The Canes defensive stops in the fourth quarter were championship-level defense, no doubt. Diaz made adjustments on defense that were subtle but very effective. Diaz and Kul figured out GT's blocking scheme and made some slight adjustments in the defensive alignments.

The Canes' plays on offense during the final drive speak for themselves. The catch by Langham was a little luck, but elite level skill and will. Plays are called, but Rosier decided to go to Langham even though the safety was playing over the top. Normally, the QB would want to go to the left side where there was single coverage, but Rosier went to the receiver he trusts, Langham. Great play on 4th down by receiver and QB. Hopefully, we get Richards back soon to take this Canes offense to a whole new level. These Canes are very confident. They have experienced making plays in clutch moments when it really counts. The Canes are championship level and caliber

Right now, I dont care how we look winning, so long as we do. Much of the Coastal is just filled with bad teams. We need to get to that VT & ND stretch undefeated so we can withstand a) a loss in the ACC & b) a loss on our AP ranking. If we can do that, we should be in position for our first Coastal title, and our first trip to the ACC CG. If we do that, we just need to not get embarrassed on national TV. Finally there will be the bowl game or playoffs. We need to win our bowl game so that we have positive momentum closing on a top 5 class, deep in talent.

I believe it. Look at all the good teams going down with a loss to inferior teams this weekend. Great teams find a way to win under adversity, when things aren't going well. I was very impressed with how the Canes team struggled to win and made plays under pressure in the fourth quarter on both sides of the ball. The Canes stayed together and never gave up, no matter how bleak.

I don't think the Canes have hit their stride yet. The Canes have not yet learned how to execute this offense and defense at a consistent high level. Last season, the all the Canes 9 wins were blowouts (approx 14+) and the losses were close (approx -7). The difference is this year, the Canes are now winning the close games that they lost last season. There are reasons for it, but those reasons are to wait and see where

I noticed that the Canes left a lot of plays out there today, and the hope is as the season moves along, the Canes will start executing consistently and at a High level, as the Canes started to do at the end of the 2016 season when they won five games in a row by double digits.

Go Canes!

U know I'm right.

We are "cham0ionship level Epi.

We just dont have complete championship depth.

If we call a good game, there is only one team in the country that is head and shoullders above us.

Even they can be had with our offensive weapons

Everyone else has shortcomings just like us.

For us to actually overcomre our shortfalls and go from championship level to actual champion, we need something from Richt we have only seen once in Coral Gables: Call a great game from start to finish.

We have had the talent for a dark horse run for years.

Just never had the coaching.

We do now. They just have to go from very, very good to the next level, which is Saban and Meyer territory.

Neither can I. OL, CB, S, RB depth... anything else I'm missing? They arent there yet. This is a team that could win the Coastal or finish 2nd. Clemson would likely handle us in the ACC CG. The defense is good enough to keep us in every game we play. When the rest of the team catches up to our front 7, then we will be back. If we keep hitting milestones and goals, I figure we can talk of being back in 2019-20 season. I dont think Richt is organized enough on O for that to happen. Then again, Rosier isnt elite, just capable, so if Perry develops by next year into a QB that gives people problems, we could be a playoff team a year ahead of time.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Did anyone mention #10 Auburn lost?

Dude on a Pale Horse

We are at least #9 right now. If #5 UW falls and #2 Clemson drops lower than us, we could see The U at #7.

Dude on a Pale Horse

If UNC could do us a solid and beat VT next weekend, I'd be super grateful. We've got to go undefeated into that game to win the Coastal.

Why is coach so reluctant to go back to the strategy that lead to the offenses best performance against a power 5 school since he has been here?

I laughed out loud when I read this.

Only cause unc sucks and that was my first reaction to the idea of them beating tech.

Then I thought, " but Clemson just lost so..
....".

Would be nice. Unc is good for a sneaky upset, even when bad. They could sneak vt or US!

Acc is scary this year.

There is only one thing for certain in this league this year.

The Miami Hurricanes DO NOT QUIT!

No other team in the league has shown our fight and resilience. This bodes well for a playoff shot going forward.

The d will have let downs, but are solid and can take us where we need be, especially playing with the lead.

Offensive execution on players parts, starting with Rosier, is definitely an issue.

My problem with Richt is not helping them develop rhythm quicker with a more creative variety of "easy" plays and ignoring basic passing concepts that are unstoppable when actually used.

Much less talented teams are outperforming us statistically all over the nation. It is making games unnecessarily perilous.

We are favored from here to the acccg.

Think about that.

When teams run plays that work on us, they do it over and over, til we stop it and win or dont and lose.

Why does our otherwise brilliant coach not do the same?

On the game winning drive, he ran the same play some 6 times though. Lets be clear though, Richt is an average OC at best. Bubble screens (although well exectuted) and deep throws are all this guy calls... I take that back, he did try to have Rosier complete a 10 yard out to Harley, lol. Richt isnt making life easy on his QB. I love Richt as a CEO. He'e easy going, honest, charismatic, etc, but he really needs to fire himself as OC if we are going to take the next step. Its just too big of a job.

Stuck in 2000. Really not that creative or innovative. He's had way more talent than everyone we beat.

VfB_Cane

Yesterday at around 2:30 p.m. OC Mark Richt went to see HC Mark Richt.
Here's the inside scoop:

Richt (OC) to Richt (HC): Hey Boss, we've got an issue. I came up with a great idea for another last minute winning drive.
Richt (HC): So what's the problem?
Richt (OC): I think we're so much better than GT that this game is over by the third quarter. I thought about calling the same unsuccessful play everytime we get close to the end zone, but that might not do it.
Richt (HC): I could talk to Manny to spot them two easy touchdowns after long drives in the first quarter.
Richt (OC): Sounds good. But what if we still got it under control at halftime?
Richt (HC): Then I call an onside kick to start the second half which we fail to pick up. Braxton is smart enough to stay away from the ball.
Richt (OC): Boss, you're simply the best. Can't wait to show what we're going to do at the end.
Richt (HC): Just being curious - doesn't Malik complain that he'll look like crap in the first half again?
Richt (OC): Not at all. He's so happy that he no longer has to hold a clipboard and watch failure, he'll do anything we ask him to.
Richt (HC): Nice. See you later.

Oh v fib that's some funny Shiite right there

TruCane81

Lol vfb you are sick.

Go Canes!

I think the whole "We are more talented on offense than the teams we face every week" right now is utter bs.

There were multiple series on offense yesterday where we had two copletely green true freshmen at WR along with Berrios, another true freshman at RG and Choc our third stringer at RB.

Not to mention a pretty streaky QB making only the sixth start of his careers

We are not nearly deep or experienced enough on offense for the claims some are constantly rhrowing out there.

You act as if losing the two most important players we have on offense dont matter or impact how DCs have to game plan for us.

We've won 10 straight fellas, some of them against damn good defenses.

Ron Mayflower

1mg of Epi, looks like you have a personal grudge against Richt. We have a QB who is way off in his throws and cannot complete simple direct throws at times. You expect the OC call throws to the middle of the field? Well, the ball will be intercepted. In some cases there are plays to the middle of the field, but our QB misses them like he did yesterday on the penultimate drive. Malik is what he is and our coaches are playing him to his strengths.

Great meeting Co, Thirsty and seeing KY, 86, Raize and others-who-do-not-blog-and-shall-not-be-named LOL.

VA that place was loud and crazy. When the rain came in we knew it was a good omen and got louder.

Canes did not bring their A game but I will take the W. Manny did a good job adjusting and making GT run east/west. We were lucky on the Langham catch - I think there was single coverage on the other side. Again, Cager could not get separation this game. Pinckney was all over the place until he got injured, I hope he is ok. Also was their first TD good? Replay looked like he bobbled the ball and did not have possession

Go Canes!!!!

When Richt is good, our deficiencies DON'T matter. Nobody expects 100 points a game.

Just more variety of concept utilyzing the talent on hand and the way defenses play us.

This will prevent the LONG scoring droughts that put games in jeopardy.

The running joke since Richt got here is when is he gonna open the playbook? We all realize the vanilla nature of his attack and it does not look like the smooth, aggressive efficient attack of less talented offenses all over the nation.

CGNC

go - well maybe next week - we hung out unitl they tore down .their tent LOL. It was wicked hot yesterday too
