Surprisingly enough it turns out that the University of Miami defenses' "Turnover Chain" is all the rage. The funny thing is that the entire college football world knows that only in Miami could such a simple thing become so famous.
But hey, when you add up the most watched ESPN Game Day of the year, way too cool South Beach, way too rich Alex Rodriguez, so beautiful Coral Gables and smoking hot Jennifer Lopez, well, it is clear that we have got it going on!
So yes, the Miami Hurricanes "Chain Gang" is back in action and better than ever in South Florida. The coaches thought it up, the players love it, and the fans can't get enough of it. The national media is eating it up and the college football world does not know what to make of it.
The stats show that Miami ranks second in turnover margin with a +15 ratio and 5th in total turnovers gained with 24. Now that is very impressive!
It is often said that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Recently we have seen that the Turnover Chain looks unbreakable and is here to stay.
And to the rest of the college football world we say this: Choke on it!
Uno!

I don't think so. Miami will likely give him a raise - not to $11.2M - but probably around $5M. If we win the NC this year, maybe a bump to $5.5 or $6M, maximum. I just don't see Richt leaving like that.

As per PBP: Miami safety Jaquan Johnson continues to be recognized as one of the top players in the country.
He was one of four defenders and 15 in total named semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. Five finalists will be named Nov. 29. The winner is announced Dec. 7.

I don't know that CMR even wants more money from the school.
He likely has more socked away than he or his family will ever need. This year he made more than $8 million before he gave a cool million to the school for the indoor practice facility.
Really don't believe he is driven by that. But we are likely going to have to pony up again to keep all our assistants, like what we had to do for Coach Kul after last season.

FSU hasn't been the same since the whole alleged thing with Jimbo's wife/ex and that Gator Taylor Jacobs. I don't know what comes first the chicken or the egg(theoretically). However it's been downhill since that whole fiasco. Going from kissing on screen to a joke. Hey it's life but I don't know why he wouldn't want a fresh start somewhere else. It's been downhill since then.

Great teams have this trait:
Just 7.69% of the TDs allowed by @CanesFootball this year have come from plays being run from outside of the Red Zone. This is the lowest percent of any FBS team in 2017.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | November 16, 2017 at 06:42 AM
This one too:
Opponents are scoring TDs just 30% of the time they get to the Red Zone against the @BadgerFootball defense. This is the best at the FBS level. Next best are @NIU_Football and @CanesFootball.

Just checked and their are 238 tickets available to purchase on Hurricanesports.com The Athletic Site of our Miami Hurricanes to a Hard Sellout. I aint talking secondary market like Stub Hub those tickets are already accounted for in ticket sales. so in closing if the remaining 238 tickets get purchased between now and Saturday. I expect they will be gone by Today if not tomorrow morning. The Attendance the last 3 Games will be 63,932 for Virginia Tech, 65,326 for Notre Dame, and 65,326 for Virginia. Wowza. and we will have drawn over 406,000 for the 7 games combined for averaging over 58,000 fans this year. We averaged over 58,000 fans last year as well but in 6 games. So if we are averaging 58,326 in a 65,326 Stadium Capacity I will gladly take that. that's a 89% usage. I can dig it. keep it going.

Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | November 16, 2017 at 12:23 PM
Kevin Sumlin is so, so overrated. They’ve given him every possible thing a coach could want or need all he does is underachieve.
Record with Johnny Football is 20-6
Record without him is 30-19
He’s a dead man walking.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | November 16, 2017 at 12:30 PM
Posted by: CaneRock | November 16, 2017 at 12:01 PM
And you have to ask yourself why is a true freshman starting.
He’s had multiple 4-5 Star QBs sign and bolt there the last few years.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | November 16, 2017 at 12:44 PM
Go Canes! you could say the same thing about Jimbo and Winston and/or Cook. Fisher's record without Winston is atrocious.

That program itself is a serial underachiever for all the so called talent that they get...Sumlin's got em' as relevant as they've ever been and probably will be. Like I said, the only way I fire Sumlin is for a HR hire like Kelly.
Posted by: CaneRock | November 16, 2017 at 12:58 PM
CR they’ve invested literally hundreds of millions into that program this decade. He’s had very good recruiting classes.
They should be a lot better.
This year he’s gotten them to six wins but they’re against Nichols State, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas in OT, South Carolina, New Mexico and the Turds by 2.
Oof.
They should be better.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | November 16, 2017 at 12:30 PM
You think to highly of the program. Name me an occassion when that program was any higher than the best of Louisville or Baylor at their peaks. They have also spent 9 figures on their programs. A&M ain't worth the feces coloring of their uniforms. Honestly Houston is the sleeping giant in that state. Houston has a Heisman winner more recently than A&M does and a much better recruiting base.
Posted by: HillViewCane | November 16, 2017 at 01:32 PM
Terrance...if you build it (winning streak), they will come.
I only wish Yamma Yamma was on the sidelines of The Rock to complete the picture.
Posted by: Tonycane | November 16, 2017 at 01:41 PM
I was wrong about that Heisman part. I forgot Manziel. I stand by the rest
Posted by: HillViewCane | November 16, 2017 at 01:41 PM
Having been in Austin for a while now...I’m not sold on Houston as tha sleeping giant. To awaken, they would have to retain an Art Briles or Tom Herman. Right now they are a way station for young, promising coaches. There was a window of opportunity for Houston had Herman stayed, but that’s closed for now. And Houston is not part of a Power 5 conference, and will likely never be part of the Big 12 due to political issues with UT. I think Houston’s ceiling is equivalent to the level Texas Tech achieved under Captain Mike “Sprarrow” Leach.
Texas A&M is it’s own unique case. They are fanatical about football, but will always be #2 to UT in perception. And they cannot stand it...to the point that they switched conferences. A&M actually thinks that they can land Nick Saban..and that said they are crazy enough to put together a ludicrous enough package at the expense of the university to actually make it tempting.
Posted by: Tonycane | November 16, 2017 at 01:49 PM
I judge them based on how they’ve recruited. Sumlin’s classes have been excellent over his tenure there, Top 10 nationally over the last 5 years.
https://n.rivals.com/news/rivals-top-50-recruiting-teams-of-the-past-five-years
The last four years he’s gone 8-5, 8-5, 8-5 and is currently 6-4 without a single quality win.
Those are Al Golden numbers with better recruiting classes, better facilities and no scandals.

After 5 straight very good to great recruiting classes his team is 3-7 in it's last 10 conference games going back to last season. This at a time where outside of Bama and Georgia the whole SEC reeks.

If we finish out our schedule 12-1 by any combination you choose and just two of three potential NFL level Juniors stay, where do we open next season?
My guess was 5-7. He was saying potentially Top 3.
We lose no Senior who wont be replaceable, though Herndon would be the closest one if I had to choose. Got two studs coming in but it's hard to bet on high school kids at that position.
The rest of this team will be stacked with young but experienced and talented players.

Top 3, without a doubt. Canes have a lot of talent returning, and these coaches really develop players. If the Canes retain these coaches and they players keep developing, CMR might have a run like the Canes did under Johnson and Ericson.

Diaz has been named a Broyles Award candidate, but I definitely think that CMR is a Coach of the Year candidate when the Canes finish their regular season 11-0. If the Canes make the CF playoff, CMR WILL be COY.

What sucks tho is how much pre season rankings mean at the end of the season, and how a loss late in the season is weighed more heavily than an earlier one.

Ahmmon Richards – 0/4
Richards hasn’t dropped a pass the last two weeks but only 3 of his 10 targets have ended in a completion. For the season only 17 of his 48 targets have been completed. Cager did well filling in for Richards against Notre Dame, catching both targets — including his best catch of the season, a 28-yarder on fourth-and-9. All four of Herndon’s targets were caught. He has caught 70 percent of his targets on the season and leads the team in YAC with 327 yards.

Cant call it a flop.
He is struggling thro7gh injury, rustiness, and being gameplanned against as a top 5 national reciever.
He is still ALWAYS OPEN and give everyone else so much more room to work.
He is an unselfish player but frustrated because he is not living up to his alpha dog reputation.
This adversity will make him better in every way.
He will emerge as one of cfbs top wide outs of the new millinium.

I know he's been injured but he's been back in the lineup for a month, that's more than enough time to clean the rust.

Walton would be KILLING IT if he was here.

I agree.
We're where we are even tho we're missing out two best offensive weapons.

The fact we’re doing this without Walton and Richards makes the work of this team, especially the defense even more incredible.

Please stop saying everything I say, right before I say it.

I still remember 11.10.07. Last game in the OB, 48-0.
10 years may have gone by, but I will never stop wanting the Canes to beat the piss out of Virginia every time we face them.

Between Richards being injured and the amount of bad throws Rosier has gave him I can see why he is struggling. That is not a knock on Rosier who has made some great throws but been a lil off Target with AR82. Might have to do with his time away and being out of sync. Also teams started to anticipate those quick slants.

Based on his earlier stats, he'd have 1,231 yards and at least 9 TDs right now. He'd be the clear front runner for the Heisman Trophy.

Walton's injury is this season's biggest let down because I think we missed a Heisman Trophy season. He would have been spectacular.

Agree UMike.

Assuming no upsets last 2 weeks, this will clearly be the best ACCCG in the game's history. Only once before did it even feature 2 top-10 and ('15 Clem-UNC) let alone 2 in top 3.

I'm curious what the NFL thinks about drafting Walton. I'd imagine most teams want to see another year out of him. Imagine for just a second a RB stable of Walton, Homer, Dallas, Lingard, Davis. Thats pretty outstanding. I'd stack that up with anyone.

Gin....I totally agree. We could beat them 56-0 each year and I would
Only feel a moderate degree of satisfaction.

Watched part of the Notre Dame game again last night and I was struck by how much positive emotion this team has had and displayed...and Instarted comparing that to Randy Shannon’s team in 2009 and 2010...no emotion, no celebration, almost like robots at times. Was Randy that against celebrating success? Was it a school edict?

Let The Herb talk about Richards for a moment. The dude has had a hammy issue since August and trying to play through it has to be tough. In watching him at UNC, he doesn't have that burst and he seems to be rounding his routes out, instead of sharp cuts. Yes Rosier is not the most accurate passer but with Richards not being 100% doesn't help. Cager seems to have gotten over the fear that held him back earlier. We have plenty of weapons on offense to get the job done. It seems for the last several years every time we get a top notch WR we get 2 good years out of them. Coley and Dorsett were the same way. Got hurt and gave us maybe 2 good years.
If everyone comes back we will be ranked in the top 3. We only lose Chad Thomas, Moten and Delaney off the defense and on offense only Mcdormet, Darling and Herndon, that I can recall. If Norton, McIntosh, Jackson and Johnson come back somebody will be wearing some severe ass whoopings.
As far as the Wahoos are concerned, we may be a little sluggish to begin with but 34-13 sounds good enough. It's hard to play at an elite level every week but hopefully we have all the sluggish games out of the way.

I'll take 34-13....but prefer 48-0 payback!
Just win baby, just win.
On the Chain....I Fricking love it!
It's classic Canes!
Furthermore. ..it has instilled a "I want that chain!" attitude amongst the def...these dudes are looking for every opportunity to wear that mutha!
And that my friends is pure genius.
God bless you and your family and go Canes!!
Get some!
