However, Kendrick Norton, who most inside the program thought was headed to the league, did not receive a grade that he considered satisfactory — the latest talk is that he will return for his senior senior as well.

I loved Kendrick Norton on air guitar, an instant classic! Lol

Dem Canes!!!

BigWindyCane1

Canes beat Pitt on the road, 67-53. Good road win to open conference play.

BigWindyCane1

Canes winning at Pitt 61-40, with 6:13 left in the game

His Royal Dudeness

11-2 would be one heck of a year!

BigWindyCane1

Bruce Brown got going. Lawrence having a great game. Moving forward in ACC play, Canes need to find their groove and cut their turnovers though.

BigWindyCane1

Miami men’s basketball 38-22 at Pitt, with 16:59 left in second half. Canes going on a run to close out the first half and to begin the second half.

BigWindyCane1

Current bowl records by conference

ACC is 4-4, with 2 games left.
SEC is 1-3, with 5 games left.
PAC 12 is 1-7, with 1 games left.
Big Ten is 5-0, with 3 games left.
Big 12 is 5-2, with 1 game left.

CoCane

Wow...

The hoops team is overrated so far. Brown and Walker are not lottery picks.

CoCane

I'll be @ The game tonight. Just got tickets.

Who else is going?

roachcane77

Agree on the Clay Helton statement...

OK. Louisville clock management CLOSE to being as bad as USC's. Wow, they just let time tick away like it means nothing with no timeouts remaining. Crazy bad!

Another ACC bowl loss...

roachcane77

SEC is 0-2, with seven games left.
PAC 12 is 1-6, with two games left.
Big Ten is 3-0, with five games left
Big 12 is 4-2, with two games left

Yeah, how bad was USC last night vs. the OSU Suckeyes?
These guys talk about how GREAT Sam Darnold is? Sorry, I don't see it. Highest interception rate among major college QB's? And yet, he's going to be drafted as the #1 QB? I could think of 3 or 4 QB's I'd take before him.
BTW, the USC CLOCK MANAGEMENT in the 3rd and 4th quarters may have been the worst I have EVER SEEN. Miami would ROMP over those sorry Trojans.

However, we have a tougher task ahead tonight with the Badgers.

Let's Go CANES!

mark from Atlanta

Sellout to stop the run...man cover ...Rosier use the qb draw...won't be easy. ..they were undefeated for a reason. ...

God bless you and your family!

U could put Dabo Swinney on that short list above. Dabo has laid the foundation at Clemson over the past ten years. Clemson, also, will have played in three consecutive CFP games, winning it all once, and playing in the national championship game the other time. Swinney has coached Clemson to a couple of major bowl games other than the CFP bowls . Also, since 2012 Clemson has won ' 11 or more games ' each season. That's what happens when a program is on SOLID FOUNDATION. Of course, those game changing players help winning matters and all that. hUh.

The bottom line: Cane fan will get an accurate reading of where Miami is during Richt's ' third and fourth seasons. ' So hopefully Miami is playing on the last Monday of the season in either ' 18 or ' 19. hUh.

TheeMackJones

Program altering players come and go. It's the head coach, and his assistants to a lesser degree, whom keep the program on solid foundation. Enter Nick Saban, and Urban Myer to a lesser degree.

For instance, once Vince Young went to the NFL, Texas never continued that national championship drive and what not. Enter the several head coaching changes and what not.

TheeMackJones

And we need what I would call a six star player to emerge - someone whose talent is so overwhelming that it cannot be schemed against and it alters the direction of the program - like Suh, V Young, M Vick , or L Jackson.

Posted by: TonyCane | December 30, 2017 at 08:14 AM

LOL... For instance, your boy by Suh DIDN'T alter that Nebraska CornSUCKER program! Yeah, yeah, yeah. Suh, and their defense, won ten games during his junior and senior seasons. But that Herbie CornSUCKER team NEVER won any ' conference championships, ' while Suh was in stinking, small town, capital town Lincoln.

Heck, Nebraska DIDN'T even play in any MAJOR bowl games during Suh's tenure. Think Orange, Sugar, Rose or Fiesta bowls. hUh.

Matter of fact, once Suh went to the NFL, Nebraska and Pellini continued to win 9 games per season, and NEVER won a conference championship. Also, once Suh was gone that Herbie CornSUCKER team NEVER played in a conference championship game. Ouch!

So if your thinking of Suh altering Nebraska. Perhaps playing in ONE conference championship game- but not winning it- was a momentary universal change for the better. hUh.

TheeMackJones

The SMART MONEY went on mighty Wisconsin ' late! ' Yikes.

In other words, on Friday AM Wisconsin was - 4 1/2.

Now the line is... Wisconsin - 6 1/2.

The bottom line: Vegas loves this swing in betting action, because probably 51% of the cash flow is on mighty Wisconsin, and 49% of the cash flow is on Miami. So Vegas will make MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS on the ' vig'. ( That's the ten percent which is laid down on a particular wager, i.e., a ten dollar wager is an eleven dollar wager. hUh. )

Sarasota 'cane

Gameday! I hope everyone is having a great Christmas/holiday week depending on your beliefs. If we finish big today I think it will be worth a stud recruit or 2 in February. Patrick Surtain, Jr. would look good in a Hurricane uniform! Talk to you all later at kickoff.

I think that bottom line, roughly a quarter of the foundation is set. We need three more consecutive classes of the same caliber of Storm 18, and we will then be Top 5 in the nation in terms of talent. That’s not to say that we cannot win it all earlier, but it requires the 2015 - 2017 classes to over perform. And we need what I would call a six star player to emerge - someone whose talent is so overwhelming that it cannot be schemed against and it alters the direction of the program - like Suh, V Young, M Vick , or L Jackson.

Teee heee heeee.

Double the drafted players and you say it doesn’t mean they were more talented.

I guess Golden was SO BAD he even made OTHER teams lose to FSU during the 59-9 run they had.

They were deeper and more talented than us over the last half dozen years. It’s proven by every measurable way possible—-Recruiting class rankings, wins and losses, award winners and players drafted. Golden sucking doesn’t change that.

Thank Goodness the pendulum is swinging back our way again and we’ll hopefully start a nice long streak of our own.

His Royal Dudeness

Saban, Carroll & Swinney would look at this O when the season is over and say, "I need someone that can get my defense more points," and then they'd do that.

I think Richt looks at his O and says, "My system will work with the right players."

His Royal Dudeness

What is coach Richt? I think he's a type (Saban, Carroll, Swinney) that may think of himself as a different type.

His Royal Dudeness

Posted by: 1mg of Epi | December 30, 2017 at 04:23 AM

Depends on the coach. In the end Miami cant just get "its fair share" of SoFL talent, Miami needs to get the cream on top. I think some coaches are outstanding recruiters 1st, and they stack blue chips until they are on top, Saban & Carroll come to mind. There are those that are innovative minds that can just win. They (Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer) can get the most out of what they got until people decide to get on board. Ultimately they want to do the same thing, stack as many players as possible. Last there are the coaches that just see things where others dont. When these guys (Chris Petersen, Butch Davis) get well known enough, they get their blue chips but also take chances on certain traits they like and hit homeruns. All of these guys have stream lined systems. A recruiting machine, a practice machine, a development machine, etc.

1mg of Epi

^^ does elite talent lead to NC contention, or does NC contention lead to elite talent?

Those guys gotta stay home. What’s Richt gotta do to make it happen?

His Royal Dudeness

I think Miami's defense is only scratching the surface of what they can become. Stats-wise The U is up there, but athletically we arent really close yet. If we start bagging elite Miami recruits every year (like Campbell & Surtain), this D can really take it to the next level. Coach Kul is a great teacher, if he can haul in 4 & 5 star DL recruits, we can take this D to the next level. Right now I dont think our defensive talent level is all that good. Its just a great system with some good players. McIntosh is supposedly our best NFL player, but he only got a 3rd round grade. You think anyone every gave Seant Taylor a 3rd round grade? Thats what Im talking about... loaded with freak athletes.

His Royal Dudeness

Rosier starts tomorrow so he's my QB. We gotta get behind him tomorrow and show him he's our dude. I'm done with Rosier or Kaaya bashing. We are about to go into a veeeerrrrryyyyy long offseason people. We need a win!

CANES had a margin of error of about 4 points vs Clemson even if had beaten Pitt. U guys don’t see the National perspective a lot of the time. Our big wins came at home. Significant road wins?... can’t count FSU this season. Barely beat them anyway. Beat GT by 1, UNC by 5, etc. No way a 1 loss CANES team gets in ahead of 1 loss Bama. Just my 2 cents.

I personally LOVED watching this team! Most fun I’ve had in > a decade. Great group with huge heart & fighting spirit.

Buuuut.... overachieved a little. Truly a 2 loss team that stole one in the big scheme. Shoulda woulda coulda. Look beyond this years and last years QBs. What was our 3rd down conversion %? Is 1st & Goal inside the 5 a passing down? Are the next two also passing downs? It all starts up front.

But we were more talented.

What was Kaaya's excuse with more talented teams?

Posted by: CaneRock | December 29, 2017 at 08:18 PM

I know the bar is always moving to fit a position, but we haven't been more talented than FSU or ND in years.

Both guys had big games against both opponents.

Kaaya threw for more yards and TDs than Winston as a true freshman.

He also threw for 400+ AND 3 TDs as a sophomore in Tally rallying us from way down to the lead in the 4th.

Last year he and Francois were lucky to survive the game.

Malik had a pretty bad game this year but made an unbelievable throw throw at the end to win it.

It's so myopic to put these games on just the QB.

Three of the last four years Dalvin Cook has been moer important than any of the guys under center.

1mg of Epi

And I remember the 18 times Kaaya was sacked during that 4 game losing streak.

I also remember the 2 games where He had countless opportunities to take the team down the field to at least tie the game vs UNC & ND.

Dorsey's first opportunity to take us down the field and win the game vs FSU...aced it.

Rosier's first opportunity to take us down the field and win the game vs FSU...aced it.

What was Kaaya's excuse with more talented teams?

I hope the shoulder injury was the cause of regression. Because, I still remember the 19-44 FSU game. Plus the horrible first halves against GT and Duke. Plus he was way off against UNC before he hurt the shoulder. Hopefully he is on tomorrow...

I’m praying he’s healthy and goes 25-25 for 500 and 5 TDs on Saturday.

Now go take another nap.

TheeMackJones

Weve got to make momentum and ride it into an all 4 qtrs victory. We can do this. Watch Malik kill it with big play completions to Thomas and Berrios. We need Cager to abuse Wiscy's CBs on 3rd down. OL has got to make the run game happen.

However, Wisconsin absolute BELIEVES Miami is S-O-F-T and all that! And they intend to go for an early TKO and what not.

Heck, and I ain't even yapping about the Wisconsin fan base, I'm opining about the team!

The bottom line: If Miami doesn't throw the first punch to Wisconsin's face, and continue to throw ' hay makers. ' Then the game could get seriously UGLY!!!!!!!! OUCH.

TheeMackJones

Shame on that ' go cane!! ' Bloody shame on that bUbba! That good ol' boy was CHITTING on #12 for the latter part of the season, and all that. hUh

Yet now the news has finally leaked, that #12 was playing with an awful injured shoulder and what not.

Bottom line: Has that ' go canes ' have NO SENSE of DECENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and one more notion. #12 was having a decent passing season prior to the severe shoulder injury. ( Yeah, yeah, yeah. He ain't the second coming of my main man JOHNNY UNITAS. So what! ). So his drastic drop in passing production was simply an ABERRATION of the injury sort and what not.

Now on Saturday night, I look for #12 to CRAP in that ' go canes ' face, and all his doubters!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Metaphorically speaking mind U.

At this point Id be so disappointed if Campbell went to UGA. He's the type of game changing athlete that Miami needs to start bringing in more of, next level kids.

Ohio_Cane

Regarding Heritage Fab Four, Silvera is locked in, Chatfield is likely, Campbell is very possible, and Surtain we have a shot at.

IMO, Surtain coming will depend on how his OV goes, which is the last weekend before NSD, which is a bonus for us.

If Williams wins out at this point, then he's probably crazy gifted and a bunch of dudes are gonna transfer.

Perry or Rosier are the most likely I think. I'll tell you man, I'm less than impressed with the guys that will be playing tackle next year. St. Louis really needs to step up and hopefully we have an answer at the other tackle spot. If there were ever a year to use a bagman to land an OT, this is the one. I'd hate to see any QB get killed out there, especially a young one like Perry. Thankfully the Coastal is trash and we can roll through it without seeing to many trouble teams.

His Royal Dudeness

The Pitt game sucked because it reaffirmed the idea that Richt will always lose 1 he shouldnt. Would have been nice to see him get that monkey off his back.

Go Canes!!

Most teams that take a bad loss come out embarrassed, fired up and ready to run through a brick wall. Especially when the game is basically the first playoff game.

Regardless, using your own numbers, we weren’t getting in over perennial winner Alabama if we somehow went from losing by 35 to 17.

His Royal Dudeness

Wisconsin would be silly to pass I think, thats where Miami gets ya. Wisconsin will try and do what they always do, bully the DL and have a RB make a LB miss.

2 things:

(1) Offense has got to let the defense know that they came to play. It doesnt take all TD drives. A FG, then a TD, then a FG and all of a sudden Miami can be up 13-0. Wham!!! Thats when the defense hits you with a Bandy pick 6 or a Johnson strip sack. Now Wiscy is looking up at 19-0 like what just happened? Stay on track and score points, FGs WILL win this game. Wiscy needs to be in a down big position at the and they will fold up with no way to come back.

(2) If Miami can get that Turnover Chain out early or if one of our LBs can blast Taylor or Hornibrook early, and I mean blast em, we can shake those guys.

Weve got to make momentum and ride it into an all 4 qtrs victory. We can do this. Watch Malik kill it with big play completions to Thomas and Berrios. We need Cager to abuse Wiscy's CBs on 3rd down. OL has got to make the run game happen.

The way our season played out, with nail biting wins against inferior competition gave us zero margin for error.

We had to win in Charlotte to get in.

1mg of Epi

^^^ if you’re suggesting that the team would’ve been more focused going in to the CG undefeated, I disagree. They were the #2 team in the land on the last Saturday of the regular season, with a chance to finish 1st and have a argument for the playoffs... and they gave us one of the worst choke jobs I’ve seen in CFB.

1mg of Epi

didn't beat Pitt so we don't know what the outcome would have been.

We woulda beat Pitt had Rosier played better but you shouldn't need a QB to beat 4-7 Pitt. Look what Navy did to Virginia yesterday

Posted by: WWIN | December 29, 2017 at 11:24 AM

Rosier hitting on one or two of the 165 that he missed vs Pitt, in no way affects the talent/depth/coaching disparity vs Clemson.

A win vs Pitt would’ve given us more leeway to get in with L to clempson, but in no way impacts what happened on the field.

Go Canes!!

Rosier completed about half his passes against our P5 opponents.

Hope the shoulder was a big part of that because if he only completes 50% against Wisky we’re going to have a very tough time winning.

Hope he’s healthy, focused and the team balls out at home.

Herbieibis

We better be able to cover Whisky’s TE’S or it will be a long day for us. Clemson ate us up with short passes and no the score wouldn’t have been that bad had we recover 2 of those fumbles that were turned into td’s and we missed on the bomb to Thomas who was 10 yds behind the db, plus missing a Fg.
Rosier gives us the best chance, of any qb on our roster, at this point to beat Wisconsin. No sense in burning Perry’s R.S. and Sheriffe’s sux. If they were going to burn Perry’s rs they would of done it long ago.
Rosier is just nerve racking erattic and that is the main problem with sustaining drives.
The defense will have to play, like they did against the Irish in order for us to win.
As far as recruiting goes, we just need to keep adding talent and keep the Dee line stocked with it. Since we finally figured out that stars do matter we really aren’t stocked with it at Linebacker. Not saying we aren’t good.
Silvera, if he does in fact sign will be great but we need more than one and Briggs is is a 50/50 guy at this point. We haven’t been on Swartz that hard and he was a Gator lean at one point. Ezzard is the one guy they are after. Campbell is a definite need. Don’t see us getting Surtain. I’ll be satisfied if we can just land Campbell. Richt will need to get the spatchula out to get a few of these guys and with a good showing I think it puts us over the top with a few of the above mentioned players.
We are not that far behind Clemson but QB is where they have the biggest edge, that and the O-Line.
It won’t be long Spacers before we are back to the shits and giggles, and our arrogant bragadosius ways. Oh it’s true, it’s dam true!

Regardless, we're gonna need Rosier next year whether y'all like it or not.

Look at 2 of the teams on the playoffs this year, Clemson & UGA.

If Fromm keeps His commitment to Alabama UGA doesn't go to the playoffs.

If Kelly Bryant's injury was season ending Clemson doesn't go to the playoffs.

You either need a good starter & competent backup, or a lot of prayers if you don't have a good backup.

Clemson marched up and down the field with ease against our D... scored 21 straight I believe.

Rosier's strength is throwing the deep ball and back shoulder... his weakness is throwing over the middle short intermediate routes... for him not to be able to complete ONE deep ball something had to be wrong. His percentage went down like 10% AFTER the injury... You yourself know he was never as bad as the last 3 games.

You can't because we didn't beat Pitt so we don't know what the outcome would have been.

We woulda beat Pitt had Rosier played better but you shouldn't need a QB to beat 4-7 Pitt. Look what Navy did to Virginia yesterday
