Your Miami Hurricanes rolled into the ACC Championship game for the first time in conference history and ran full speed ahead into the mighty Clemson Tigers.
The Hurricanes wound up stumbling over their own two feet and then proceeded to show everyone exactly how to execute a perfect face plant.
We scored it a perfect 10.
The Canes got mauled without mercy by the Tigers 138-3. OK, OK, I know the real score was only 38-3 and that was bad enough because the game was never even close as Miami was held scoreless until late in the game. In fact the tough loss felt even worse than that for the fans who had bought into the hype of this turn around season brought to you courtesy of the "Turnover Chain".
And even though it may have ended on a sour note, a turn around season it was as the Canes did not lose a game until the final week of the season, won the Coastal Division and played for an ACC conference championship.
That my friends IS progress.
It became clear against Clemson that your Miami Hurricanes are indeed at least 2-3 years away from possessing the talent and depth and the confidence (read: Swagger) that comes with knowing you can compete with and beat anyone. At least that is what most people believe and what everyone is telling us.
The defense and Manny Diaz led the way in the Canes big improvement in 2017. Now the offense and Mark Richt must do what the defense did; get better, and get better fast if the Canes will to climb back into the National playoff picture.
The 2017 Miami squad reached as high as #2 in the Country before being exposed by two really good defenses and by revealing a seriously challenged offense that needs both better play calling and better play at every position across the board, especially at quarterback.
Sure, the ending is not what the fans would have wanted nor what the coaches and players would have chosen. But like it or not it is what it is until the next haul of talent reaches Coral Gables in the form of the 2018 recruiting class.
Until then we will prep for the bowl game that remains TBA but is likely an Orange Bowl invitation. But hang tough Canes fans, all that we learned is that the "Turnover Chain" can only take a turn around season so far.
You wanna compare STATS or WINS? I take wins all day! People don't realize how different the game would be if Kaaya was here... d-linemen would be having a field day sacking him... and we all know how rattled he gets. He would have needed a whole new grill after this season. He was a sitting duck! How many people actually thought we would have the season we had with Rosier... but now people wanna sh*t on him???
Personally I don't want Kaaya or Rosier... but if I had to choose I'm rolling with Rosier

1. Better than expected season but Pitt didn't have more talent than us and though Clemson should have beat us there is no excuse for losing the way we did. We scored the same amount of points against Clemson as the Citadel and Kent State.
2. Beat Wisconsin and we had a good season.

1. U are correct Sir.
2. There IT is right there.

But 2 things you can't take away from Rosier that Kaaya NEVER did...He beat FSU, and He led His team down the field to do it...in thrilling fashion...CONVINCINGLY!

Makes sense to roll with a QB that completed 51% of his passes this season in conference and had 8TDs and 7 picks down the stretch of the season.

Oh how quick we are to forget...
Remember the bowl game last year where it took Brad until the end of the 2nd qtr to get a 1st down... and just what was his grade for that game??? I remember Coley needing a ladder for some of his passes. It also seems like I kinda remember a pass thrown so poorly that everybody thought it was deflected...

Give Perry a shot for bowl game and call Pre-spring training
Posted by: SinisterCane | December 04, 2017 at 10:58 AM
Kaaya completed well over 60% of his throws last year. I always say Kaaya ain't all that but his accuracy would have blown out the teams we struggled with. He wouldn't have missed nearly as many throws as Nosier did.
This year's TEAM was better. Not Nosier. How anyone can watch us play and give credit to Nosier for the wins is foolish at best...
Posted by: CoCane | December 04, 2017 at 11:01 AM
TSully,
beating any FSU team after dropping 7 straight is the best sauce!

Rosier & the OL seemed to wear down this season, they got figured out maybe... maybe they got tired... maybe their luck ran out. All I know is earlier in the year, he wasnt THIS bad. Yeah he missed throws and went 3 and out, but he also threw some nice TDs to Berrios, etc. Lately though, last few games, he's been so, so awful.
Posted by: His Royal Dudeness | December 04, 2017 at 11:06 AM
Nosier's ability to run allowed Richt to call plays his philosophy is more comfortable with.
Richt isn't comfortable calling a west coast offense style of plays.
Nosier is garbage but is the type of QB Richt wants. Too bad because the way the OL pass protected this year Kaaya could have balled out. I don't think we lose to Pitt with Kaaya.
Still would've lost to Clemson.
Kaaya missed some throws at times but nowhere near as much as Nosier...

Coke...if it wasn't for Berrios' long punt return vs FSU, Kaaya wouldn't have led us down the field to almost tie the game.
Vs UNC...all we needed Him to do was drive us down the field and tie the game, He couldn't do it.
Vs VT...that game was a cluster all the way around, but Kaaya played like garbage that game.
Vs ND...all we needed Him to do was drive us down the field and tie the game, He couldn't do it.
Vs FSU His 1st 2 years as starter, all we needed Him to do was drive us down the field and tie the game, He couldn't do it...TWICE!
Notic a trend here?...He never put us in position to win the game, only tie.
Kaaya was mostly the reason we lost 4 games in 2016.

Anyone who thinks the Chain will be an Afterthought Next Season
PLEASE DON'T CELEBRATE ONE DEFENSIVE RECRUIT FROM THIS CYCLE......NOT ONE....THEY ALL ARE COMING FOR THE CHAIN!!

Cane Rock stop the foolishness. Its a bad look. His Royal Dudeness sorry I aint beating my chest beating a 6-6 FSU team. Thats horsecrap. If FSU was this bad over the last 7 years and that Jimbo was the Coach and BK, SM, and J12 couldn't beat those teams then U all would have a point. Let me bring some memory to your memory 2010 FSU 9-4, 2011 FSU 9-4, 2012 FSU 12-2 and ACC Champs, Orange Bowl Champs, 2013 14-0, ACC Champs and National Champs, 2014 13-1 ACC Champs and Playoff Team, 2015 FSU 10-3, 2016 FSU 10-3 and Orange Bowl Champs, This Year FSU is 6-6 but yall beating yall chest lol. I guess we gonna beat our chest beating a 3-9 UNC team lol. Stop the damn madness. That's like us beating our chest beating a 6-6 Virginia. LOL. and I am going to give yall crud, because yall gave us crud when we brought up beating a 9-4 Georgia Tech a 10-3 West Virginia, and 8-5 Pittsburgh, etc last year but the same ones beating they chest this year was trashing our team last year and clowning our QB because the Hate is real. I am just calling a spade a spade. OH yeah and lets add some memory I remember some on here saying the Florida win in 2013 was meaningless because that Florida team was like 4-8 but those same people are bigging up the win over 6-6 FSU this is pure comedy. keep it consistent Canespace Family love ya but the changing gears like a 10 speed is a bad look.

They (Clemson) literally have double the 4 & 5 Star players we do...
Posted by: Go Canes!! | December 04, 2017 at 04:54 AM
Careful about comparisons there young man, because if you use that logic then you have to apply it when Miami has more star power than the other team, like when Miami played Pitt, right?

CaneRock Miami vs Virginia Tech last Year BK was 23-38 for 328 yeards 2 Touchdowns and 1 INT. Yea he cost us the game lmao. 2017 Virginia Tech vs Miami Malik Rosier was 11-22 Had 3 Total Touchdowns and 3 INT's lmao yea that was the primary difference. U cant make this stuff up lol. In 2016 we lost 37-16 and in 2017 we won 28-10. But in 2016 it was all BK fault but in 2017 it was all MR greatness lol Man i am dying laughing at this. Thanks for the comedy.

BETTER team??? Kaaya had... Coley,a healthy AR, Lewis, Njoku, Herndon, Walton, Yearby, Gus, Williams, Darling, Isidora...
I'll take last year's team for $500 Alex!

Just "spit-balling" but would he lose his red shirt if he played in the bowl game? I'm ridin' with Rossier myself. Let Perry develop over one more spring and summer and then we'll see what he's got next fall...against LSU!! LOL!!

Miami possessions vs VT in 16':
PUNT,PUNT,FG,INT,PUNT,PUNT,PUNT,TD,PUNT,TD,PUNT,PUNT,DOWNS,DOWNS.
Oh and, Kaaya was sacked 7 times.

And let's not forget we have another 4* dual-threat QB coming in next season as well. The kid we flipped from Kentucky looks 10x better than the kid from IMG. And have any of you all watched film from our new TE from Las Vegas? The kid was born with glue on his hands. If (Big if) either of our 2 QB's of the future are the real deal then we can make a run at the 'ship in 2019-2020 with the supporting cast that Richt is building around this team!!

What you've failed to notice is that the outcome of the UM vs fsu can determine the rest of your season. Had we lost I think our season would be a lot different and the same can be said for them.
Have you forgotten what happens to us right after losing to them?
Anyways... EVERYONE knows when you're playing a rival THROW THE RECORDS OUT THE WINDOW

For God's sake pick a day this week for "final arguments" on this Kaaya-Rossier B.S. This "trial" has dragged on for far too long!! It serves no purpose since Kaaya left last year.
Kaaya AND Rossier left it (leaving it) all on the field for our team. They are Hurricanes to the bone!! That's it!! Case closed!!

Agreed WWIN. The turnover chain was televised like crazy - basically it was never meant to be. But the kids and recruits love it. Best bling in college football!

Sarasota It will end when the ones that keep throwing BK under the bus for all the ills of the program his 3 years here. I love both BK and MR and appreciate all they have and continue to contribute to Miami just gonna keep it 100 on this topic. That's all nothing more nothing less.

Some of us knew we werent talented enough before hand. I said we'd need a miracle to win.
Posted by: His Royal Dudeness | December 03, 2017 at 11:36 PM
Yeah Dude, you were right.
I was just hoping we could come out like Ned and get a jump on em. We can beat anybody if we do that.
The loss don't bother me so much as Coach putting his tricks back in the bag when the team was finding its identity and messing with the simmering mojo he worked so hard and so masterfully to build.
You don't do shit like that.
When Richt is in, we can beat anybody right now.
But beating my Clemson would require damn near perfection. I don't hold that game against him.
