The University of Miami released its 2018 football schedule Wednesday, highlighted by a nationally televised, season-opening matchup with LSU, as well as six home games at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Hurricanes kick off the 2018 season on Sunday, Sept. 2, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, against the Tigers in the 2018 AdvoCare Classic – UM's first meeting with LSU since the 2005 Peach Bowl and the first regular season meeting between the two schools since 1988. The game will be televised on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET. Miami's last visit to the Dallas area was its 1991 Cotton Bowl win over Texas.
Miami's home schedule includes non-conference games against FIU and Savannah State, as well as games against ACC rivals Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. The Hurricanes posted a 7-0 regular season mark at Hard Rock Stadium in 2017.
Miami enters the 2018 campaign following a strong 2017 season in which the Hurricanes posted a 10-3 record – UM's first 10-win season since 2003 – and won the ACC Coastal Division title for the first time in school history. Head coach Mark Richt was named ACC Coach of the Year and Walter Camp National Coach of the Year.
I love DJ but he aint here building the program daily anymore. His job as a former athlete is to stick up for the program, well done by him. Thats our job as fans also, but here we can take things deeper and talk about our concerns, DJ isnt in OUR bubble.

Nah. Still show up, we as a fan base need practice too. Besides, we will win every one of them at home next year. We need to be the program that we are proud of.

Dynasty Miami is built on Tyson Campbells and Patrick Surtain Jrs. We all know that.

Posted by: His Royal Dudeness | January 19, 2018 at 08:06 PM
Sorry but I totally disagree with this.
Cane dynasties have always been built on a mindset.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | January 19, 2018 at 08:21 PM
Great teams are built on talent.
SMH...Shannon & Golden used to utter that "Miami mindset" gibberish, got us nowhere.
Ice Harris did a better job of getting kids from the HS He coached at than Rumph.
If you can't get kids you used to coach from pip squeaks, whatever, but to use that "Miami mindset" bull$h!t because you can't seal the deal is a cop-out.
Posted by: CaneRock | January 19, 2018 at 08:45 PM
They failed because they were bad hires.’
When were we last dominant?
The our roster had a team loaded with guys most people never heard of before they got here.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | January 19, 2018 at 09:03 PM
Not saying we don’t have to have talent. But our great teams had a mental toughness and toughness we haven’t had a roster full of in a long time.

And desire /\/\
Posted by: Go Canes!! | January 19, 2018 at 09:12 PM
I hear ya' Go Canes, but like I said, if He can't get those kids, whatever, but using cop-outs like "Miami mindset" is not a "Miami mindset". Just keep it on the hush and keep it movin'.

I beg to differ. Miami was built on great coaches maximizing their speed advantages and coaching and drilling the hell out guys. That swag was built by talented players overcoming impossible practices as a team.

CIS:
When Pete said we have a better chance with Surtain than Campbell, my initial thought was that Pete is emphasizing how little of a chance we have with Campbell. Not that we have a good chance with Surtain. Its like saying we had a better chance of hitting the lottery than getting the model. After Sileo Jr posted his update, I thought there must be some smoke here. So maybe I took Pete's info incorrectly. When I took a look at Surtain’s timeline on 247. You're right. His actions tell a different story than the one I believed to be true.
Starting in October, Rumph visited Surtain and 2 weeks later, he named LSU his leader. A week after that (November 4th), Surtain Sr was in the stands for the VT blowout, and left with plenty of positive things to say about Miami. A week after that game (November 11th), Surtain Jr was in the stands watching us destroy Notre Dame. The day before the ACC Championship game, 2 coaches from Bama visited. The day after the championship game, he got a visit from Diaz, Banda, Rumph, and Kuligowski. Two and a half weeks later, the supposed LSU lock didn't sign early. A week after that, he was at Miami (without Silvera, Chatfield or Campbell), watching our Orange Bowl practice. Two weeks later, he used his first official visit on LSU. Didn’t commit. Three days later, he was back at Miami.
Combine the increase in communication with some of the other rumors… his dad trusting Richt most, his mom wanting him to stay home, his close friendship with Chatfield and the Surtain’s not being sold on coach O. If/when he visits us (or vice versa) after his Bama visit, it’ll be pretty damn difficult to deny he has legitimate interest in Miami.
Posted by: SinisterCane | January 19, 2018 at 10:39 PM
Yeah I live in Browsed. There is more smoke around Surtain coming then Campbell. At the end of the day, no one knows. I'll just wait until they sign...

If you can fly into LAX and drive south it would be worth your while.
Everything starting just south of L.A., Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa and Dana Point are incrediblly beautiful.
It's worth the days drive it will take you, including the stops I mentioned above, to get to San Diego.

Great we get some stiff from the Illini. When we have to start reaching for grad transfers to fill needs, it means we ain’t recruiting the position hard enough and don’t have stacked in order to absorb early departures. Don’tget The Herb wrong, it’s better than nothing but would rather have a kid 3 to 5 years instead of a one and done. Colbert and Delaney both got hurt and missed several games in the one year they were here. Go get a Jucco, who at least will be here two years.
We should have 8 to 10 ships left. Unless I missed someone, I counted 74 players with ships.
Posted by: Herbieibis | January 20, 2018 at 09:53 AM
the ILLINI kid has the the "Cane Fire" don't know if you saw his ejection or not, but the kid has it lol...
Funny his Ejection showed it but he has it and it just needs to be CANE'd..
Posted by: RCCF | January 20, 2018 at 11:11 AM
You take a grad transfer when u don’t have a better option, so don’t see how u have a problem w it. Colbert was an important piece for the year he was here, and even recruited for us. I’ll take a Colbert every time.

I was thinking drive down to Vegas for the night. Then come through San Bernardino because the wife has family there. Then my family has 2 time shares, 1 in Carlsbad on the beach, the other at Lawrence Welk Resort. I did that LA thing once before when I was about 16, unfortunately it was because I was there for a funeral. I'll have a 2 & 4 year old with me so driving for pleasure, and sights like that will be hard to get them to appreciate.

There is one 5 Star and 33 4 Star DTs on the ESPN 300.
That's it.
Ohio State got three, Bama, Clemson and Tennesee got two (their two are both from Tennessee). Scanned a little bit and didnt even see us offering a lot of the "3 Star" guys which makes me wonder if we even thing a lot of them can even play.
We got the only one defensive tackle south of Lake Okeechobee and he's a Top guy at this position. DT has never been a strongsuit for south Florida. We don't have had a lot of down here.
This thing about stacking guys at that position is way easier said than done.
So calling a guy a stiff who's experienced and produced similar numbers to Norton last year is kind of a head scratcher.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | January 20, 2018 at 11:49 AM
TD having a 2 and 4 year old totaly changes things. Definitely not the kind of experience they'd enjoy at that age.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | January 20, 2018 at 11:50 AM
P.S. Briggs is listed as a DE.
If he is actually a DT, getting him would give us two 4 star DTs.

Dont get me wrong, but our program has done JACKSH*T for what 15 years? We are still patching holes here, not just with recruits, but it looks like with coaches too. Unfortunately we have no one that can play 1 tech with Ford, so if a 6'3" 310 pounder came from the moon to help out, we have to take him. As I have been saying though, depth is built from the bottom up and we need a reputation of having our sh*t together for a few years first. Storm18 is only the beginning imo. We need years of this to compete for the ACC & the Coastal year in and out. I want to see how the 18 kids are managed because that will tell me if these guys understand how depth is built, or if we are just gonna keep patching holes.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | January 20, 2018 at 11:49 AM
It may be easier said than done, but it must be done, even if it means bringing in DEs like Briggs and moving them over. We have to have 2 per class on the roster. Sometimes that will mean we need 3 in a cycle. Because DT is tough in SoFL, we have to be keeping a player in our pocket for the following cycle, I think it will give us leverage in getting kids to sign on the early signing day.
Posted by: His Royal Dudeness | January 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM
X. Peters could challenge for starting time right away.
Posted by: His Royal Dudeness | January 20, 2018 at 12:35 PM

Bama literally offers about every single one of em as sophomores snd stops
Communicating w them as appropriate. Probably one of the things having an army of consultants allows u to do

Former player. Now a sports talk show host (Cali I think). He did the wqam hurricanes post game Show back in golden’s first couple years. He was fired for talking about how insanely stupid the D was and saying Al wouidnt succeed.
He’s got the bona fides, but on recruiting I wouldn’t put any more weight to his words than any other peripheral character.
