The University of Miami women's tennis team enjoyed a quality finale to the Miami Spring Invite Saturday, notching eight victories against representatives of No. 13 Ohio State and No. 21 Kentucky at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
With the help of dominating victories and dramatic comebacks, No. 19 Miami finished the day with an 8-2 record, including a 5-1 mark in singles play.
"We talked about wanting a strong finish going into next weekend," coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews said. "Everybody is ending on a high note, everybody is playing solid tennis. To be able to do that just shows our level of commitment."
The Hurricanes played four doubles matches against the Buckeyes and recorded three victories, in which they did not lose a single set. Senior Sinead Lohan and freshman Ulyana Shirokova were most convincing, posting a 6-2 victory over Emily Smith and Amanda Meyer.
The duo of sophomore Dominika Paterova and junior Daniella Roldan triumphed 6-3 over Mary Beth Hurley and Olivia Sneed.
Sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba and junior Ana Madcur earned the last doubles victory with a 6-4 win over Commodores Fukuda and Sanford.

The staff recruits by geography NOT position. Rumph is assigned Fla west coast. So while obviously he hasn’t beep elite, Richts seems to beleive he can eventually.

HELLO........Rumph is 100% CANE
Stop the Shenanigans!!
Kids are told all kinds of BS and believe it, when the truth is right there in their faces.. The U is still DB U and the laws of the land say if U can't see that and believe it for yourself then U aren't the kid for us...
Does Georgia have more DB's in the League than The U? (4)
Does LSU? (8)
Does Bama? (7)
The U:
Carolina Panthers-
Corn Elder, Ladarius Gunter
Chicago Bears-
Deon Bush
Denver Broncos-
Jamal Carter
Green Bay Packers-
Herb Waters(although he played WR while at The U)
Jacksonville Jaguars-
Tracy Howard
Los Angeles Chargers-
Rayshawn Jenkins
Pittsburgh Steelers-
Artie Burns
SanFrancisco 49ers-
RayRay Armstrong (played S for The U, LB for the NFL)
Adrian Colbert
Let the man live!! Thank U

Even w/the Technicalities and If's, 5th's, and Wishes....
Miami has as many/more DB's who play productive downs than any of the schools either one of those boys are looking at attending.
ALSO the biggest Names in DB don't and haven't been produced by ANY of the aforementioned schools so why do these kids think it will start with them? Kind of like why would ANY star WR go to Nebraska when in EVER they have NEVER produced 1?
Cmon People...
Let the Fans keep Fanning
Coaches Keep Crootin!

You guys ever consider the fact that maybe its not that easy recruiting elite talent to a .500 P5 school like UM?
These kids only know miami as a lower rung (in the power 5) football team. Their entire living memory is of Miami losing to FSU for almost a decade, getting beat up by uva, etc etc. The U doesn’t not mean to them what it means to us.
It May be that Perception will have to change before we start consistently winning recruiting battles for the 5*s. One 10 win season won’t do it, especially when the last 3 games were Ls.

Alabama QB who started one half of one game getting 10-1 to win the Heisman.

He didn't get in in time. 1 course ran over. Not a huge deal. He has the playbooks and can work out with the team because he's signed. Just means he won't start classes until May.

You bring in a high school coach because he already has relationships with the kid's. Relationships go a long way in recruiting. Why else would you bring in a high school coach?

I would think the primary reason to hire a coach is for that coach’s ability to.. u know... coach.
If Richt hired Rumph in order to insure that he brings in his former players then Richt made a poor decision and should correct it. He should also reevaluate his staffing philosophy.

So you're saying this isn't the norm... coaches don't bring in one recruiter on staff... so out of NINE coaches it's wrong to bring in ONE for recruiting?
Just an example...Is Banda better at coaching or recruiting?
If this was going on at fsu or uf we would all be laughing at em... true or false?

I assume he could judge his coaching ability by looking at previous work, like any other job.
Also, I’m not saying that Richt didn’t hire Rumph to open a pipeline to AH, I just doubt it based on Richts own track record w elite classes. I don’t see Richt as the kinda guy to feel he needs somebody else to close. I could be wrong.
If Richt did hire Rumph for recruiting, then depending on what happens in 2 weeks, Rumph should be let go.

Epi well Lets examine all these Power 5 teams and see where they rank vs only Power 5 schools I believe you will retract your statement. Because their are a bunch of Power 5 schools who fatten up on Non Power 5 schools for their record so you might want to check that statement you made about Miami being a bottom rung Power 5 school IJS.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | January 23, 2018 at 04:45 PM

Based on the last 10 years Miami has been at best a very middle of the road team. But my point wasn’t a judgement on Miami, but speaking to the expectation we have juxtaposed against the image of our program to an 18 year old.
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | January 23, 2018 at 04:53 PM
But to answer your question, I’d throw out a wild guess that vs P5 the average team was about .500.
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | January 23, 2018 at 04:56 PM
Last 5 years Miami is 29-21 vs Power 5(including 1 independant Notre Dame) just in the 14 team ACC only) Clemson, FSU, and Louisville* that has more wins than Miami. So Miami is number 4 outta of 14 teams. So that means 10 teams right there outta 64 in one conference. Matter of Fact Notre Dame has less wins vs Power 5 schools in last 5 years so with ACC plus the 5 game annual agreement with Notre Dame Miami would be 4th outta 15 Power 5 ACC/Independant schools in last 5 years. So 11 outta of 65 Power 5 schools. I havent checked Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 , SEC yet. U still believing bottom rung Brotha Lol. At this point I am thinking Miami might be lower upper rung or at the very least middle rung vs Power 5.Because its stinker teams in every league and just with ACC/Noter Dame I just listed half of the Bottom Rung and I can guarantee you VT, Notre Dame, NC State, GT, UNC, arent bottom rung lol.

But thats great stuff Epi gave me another reason to research.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | January 23, 2018 at 05:20 PM
Are u really trying to sell me that UM has been playing good football the last decade plus?
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | January 23, 2018 at 05:22 PM
No bowl wins in a decade. No ACC ship. No division ships. 0-7 vs in state rival. 1-309 vs ranked teams. 3 coaches In a decade. Empty stadium. Completely irrelevant in every way.
That’s what this program was thru the eyes of everybody but us fans, who still see the ghosts of championships past lurking in the shadows.
Thru that prism, Richt has to get credit for bringing in the talent he already has. It’s also understandable that the perception of Miami as “that school” won’t change in a single 10 win season.
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | January 23, 2018 at 05:36 PM
Did I fucking say that Jesus Fucking Christ. I said the last 5 years. Stop moving the Fucking Goal posts just take the info I give you and if you dont believe it research it for yourself. But hey if you want to play mental fucking gymnastics have at it.
