The Miami Hurricanes will be looking to extend their winning streak to three straight games when they take on host FIU at FIU Baseball Stadium on Wednesday, March 7. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. on 790 The Ticket and WVUM 90.5 FM.
Senior lefthander Michael Mediavilla (0-2) will oppose FIU righthander Nick MacDonald (1-0).
The Hurricanes (5-6) are coming of back-to-back wins against Maine that earned them their second series win in three weekends to open the year.
Miami won a 15-inning thriller, 7-6, on Saturday night, despite twice falling behind in extra innings.
Miami fell behind 6-5 in the top of the 15th but plated two in the bottom half, with the game-winning run driven in on the bat of freshman Alex Toral. The game was the longest for Miami since a 17-inning game against Florida State in 2015.
The Hurricanes had a quick turnaround time for Sunday's game, which began at 11:30 a.m.
"It was a really emotional game [Saturday]. To win that and come back and score two [in the 15th] was a great thing," head coach Jim Morris said. "I had trouble going to sleep. I was at the park by 8 o'clock the next morning."
Must win Game for our Miami Hurricanes!

Chirinos: Little tidbit from Mark Richt this morning: He said injured Canes DB Malek Young is doing well as he continues recovering from neck surgery, added that Young has told UM staff he'd like to help coach this season and there exists a possibility he may get involved with track team.

I'll just leave this here:
An audited financial statement released by the NCAA on Wednesday showed the governing body of college athletics generated nearly $1.1 billion in revenue during the 2017 fiscal year.
It's from CNN today.

Per PBP: Elsewhere, guard Lonnie Walker was named an All-ACC honorable mention β the first Miami rookie to get a spot on an all-league team β and was named to the all-freshman team. Another freshman, Chris Lykes, finished third in the sixth man of the year poll. Sophomore forward Dewan Huell earned two votes (ninth place) for most improved player.

Sadspace.
So many great bloggers run off.

My question for the day is where are all the guys who NEVER post here except to whine like 10 year old girls about the once a month or so spin into politics, moves or whatever during a down time.
You offer nothing except a quarterly or every six month post scolding those who kept this place going.
Now you can put your big boy pants and carry the blog for a while.
Not.

Yet MANY find it absurd to say "Pay the Kids"
Not only that, FORCE them to take money, management, and investment courses
Payment should be in Tiers
Tier 1 Athletes = Highest Paid = Grades = Character
Tier 2 Athletes are basically a step below that
Tier 3 Athletes are basically on their way out or basically not cutting it

Exactly 86. I am more worried about next year and the years to come. I am not sweating this year. Its the classic victory lap. U just roll with the punches. But we need to be ready for great improvements in the coming years and I personanly would give our HCIW one year to show me something if its not improved national coaching search would be in full effect. BTW we need the AD and Athletic Program to improve the Light! He has seen better days.

The Miami Hurricanes fell to crosstown foe FIU Wednesday, dropping a close midweek affair, 5-3, at FIU Baseball Stadium.
Miami (5-7) erased an early 3-0 deficit by the middle innings, but a sixth-inning sacrifice fly proved the difference for the Panthers.
Freshman Freddy Zamora continued his hot streak at the plate with his fourth straight multi-hit performance (2-for-3). He also reached on a walk and extended his hitting streak to seven straight games.
Senior lefthander Michael Mediavilla struck out a season-high eight batters and walked two in 4.1 innings. Outside of the two early Panther home runs, Mediavilla allowed just one hit.

Key 18th-hole birdies from junior Dewi Weber and sophomore Renate Grimstad secured the University of Miami golf team the Hurricane Invitational title on the final day at the Biltmore Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.
Despite trailing late in the day, No. 24 Hurricanes won their third title this spring after shooting a final round of 292 and a tournament total of 866. Miami held on to its three-stroke lead over Oklahoma going into the final day after the 16th-ranked Sooners shot a 292 final round. OU completed the tournament with a score of 869, besting Coastal Carolina (290 on the day) by one stroke.
"It was a wish come true today that we win our third out of four tournaments," said Miami head coach Patti Rizzo, who has now led the program to 42 top-five finishes since taking over in 2010. "When you are a coach, you always ask yourself, 'When is it going to be my turn? When are things going to go my way? When is my team going to get it together?' So far, it has been great."

As snow blanketed the Big Apple Wednesday, the Hurricanes managed to put up shots on both sides of the East River as they continued preparations for the 2018 ACC Tournament.
Miami had a shoot-around at Brooklyn's Barclays Center in the morning before heading back to Manhattan for a late breakfast and another practice session.
That's when New York's latest snowstorm hit, forcing the Hurricanes to call an audible. The prep school where they held practice yesterday closed due to the storm so the team instead trekked a few miles to the Boys & Girls Republic in East Village.
Back in Brooklyn, the tournament itself tipped off in earnest today with four second-round matchups. The Hurricanes are the third seed this year, which means they don't play until approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.
