No BRUCE Brown in the NCAA tournament. It would be nice to beat Loyola, then probably Tennessee and make the sweet 16. If they make it that far, then Making the elite 8 from this bracket is achievable. Cincinnati is the #2 seed, and Virginia is the #1 seed. UVA is the toughest opponent in that bracket, and the Canes wouldn’t see them until the Regional finals.
Not a bad bracket. The Canes have a puncher’s shot
Ive heard 2018 will be I Formation heavy. I like this a lot for our run game, and for our QBs. A few things if we are going to go this route. 1) we need a TE that can set the edge and blast LBs while also being a threat. If Hartley can get Jordan blocking, Miami can really cause 3rd and short damage. 2) If this is true then Richt must believe in the freshman FBs ability to stick LBs. I could also see Irvin at FB. 3) If Searels is the coach for the job, then Donaldson will clear out every DLman he goes against next year. I think this really suits our interior line talent.
From his freshman All America write up. He must have blocked someone.
Donaldson cracked the starting lineup the moment he stepped on campus, working with the first-team line during the spring. At 6-6, 350 pounds, he certainly looked the part. In all, he ended up starting 10 games for the Canes, and the results were exceptional, with Miami rushing for 4.3 yards per carry before contact when running behind right guard.
Donaldson is a massive OL. I think he wants to play tackle, so we will see if he can get his conditioning up. Donaldson will be a key component in a physical run game.
Although the Canes may be less experienced on the OL, they will clearly be a lot more talented on OL. I think CMR feels that he is finally getting enough talent on the OL and in the backfield to establish a consistent run game. A true fullback will also help. No disrespect to the spread passing game, but nothing looks more beautiful and pure in the game of football than watching a team line up and run power football, and just steamroll the defense.
I agree with his Royal Dudeness in that a solid blocking TE is also important in the run game. Michael Irvin III will have to improve a lot as a blocker because last year he was completely pushed into the backfield on some plays. The Canes will need another Herndon-type, who was probably our best blocker (at any position) at times last season.
I'm not doing the calculating. I just happened to see it, but as a Canes fan, I'd prefer to live by Hans Solo's maxim that Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan wrote from him in the Empire Strikes Back: "Never tell me the odds." I like it when, as happened as UNC, moon balls become death stars.
Ragging on Donaldson because he had a "bad game" against Wisconsin is the most Soup evaluation ever.
He had a great overall year but because he didnt look good against a Top 10 defense that started six Seniors and five Juniors he all of a sudden can't block.
The kid was 18 or 19 years old playing against grown ass men. He will improve this year and the next and will leave here as a 1st to 3rd round pick.
Chris Low: With all of the high-profile coaching jobs open this year, @MarkRicht had several inquires, but told me there wasn’t anything he felt like he owed it to himself to listen to. “I don’t even let myself go there. This is it for us ... until they throw me out or I retire.”

1. I agree.
2. Because your magic crystal ball says so?
Go Canes never met a Cane he didn't LOVE or wasn't the best football player he EVER met!
Donaldson has talent and POTENTIAL but he needs LOTS of work to be great or even really good. He is poorly conditioned, has bad footwork at times and questionable balance and mobility.
He wants to be a T because he wants a big pay day. He is NOT a tackle he is a G. This is not HS where you can just fall on a smaller guy you outweigh by over 100 pounds and 6 inches shorter than you. You need lateral movement, balance, mobility, vision, good footwork and technique.
Can Donaldson get there sure. Will he get there? That remains to be seen how much desire and drive he has and how smart and coachable he is to match his physical build/skils.
So times up! And just as I suspected nobody stepped up to the plate to start a new blog. Everybody loves to sit around and criticize and complain but never take responsibility to actually fix, change or improve things. So typical of our world today.

Yes I love all Canes players, but your comment about me thinking each is the best ever is laughable.
As is your assessment of Donaldson at tackle considering, of course, he played guard the entire season.
So the only one "crystal balling" is you, when you evaluate a player at a position he didnt even play.
The reality is guy started every game he played here if healthy. We averaged over four yards a run behind him BEFORE contact. He was a first team freshman All American.
So yes, it's a total stretch to say he'll continue to progress.

1. Everyone here and all across the Country from Hawaii to Hialeah knows that you are the biggest and blindest HOMER when it comes to the Miami Hurricanes. You are so incapable of objective observation that it IS laughable. The same exact player who wears orange and green who you would call all world could wear garnet and gold and be a scrub.
Here is an example to prove the point: Terrance is a self proclaimed Hurricane homer. Yet look at his clearly objective and fair and balanced review of Danaldson's play against Clemson and Wisky. You are so completely incapable of thinking much less posting anything remotely close to that that it IS laughable.
2. You saying he is going to improve is using a crystal ball. Look at how many first year players who starred early had sophomore slumps. Too many to even count. A completely objective review of Donaldson's play by actually watching him perform on the field shows that he is better suited for G than T as of right now. If he grows into his size, becomes better conditioned, has better footwork, is more balanced over his feet and can be more mobile then yes he could play tackle. But that is asking a LOT. You can stick to hyperbole, I will stick to what's on film. Film doesn't lie.
3. Improvement requires all of things I previously stated: drive, desire, vision, footwork, mobility, learning, accepting coaching, diet, weight training, etc. Just being the biggest guy on the field does not make you the best player on the field.
4. When I said "fat, slow and lazy" I was really just talking about myself, not Donaldson. LOL
Glad you stuck around buddy. Hopefully we can catch up at least the spring game.

I let it ride. 86, Solar and MiamiMike had my back LOL. Let some of these things ride, life is too short.
And 86, I remember a long time ago you even provided an additional page for people to post comments that were political or whatever they wanted and it got out of hand so quickly you had to take it down LOL. Remember?
At this point in time it appears that people are so entrenched in their opposite belief systems that reasonable debate and discussion and compromise have gone out the window.
The chance of swaying someone to your position or convincing them that one side is right or the other wrong is basically non-existent. So there is really no need, and there is certainly no place for it here on a SPORTS blog, to even try to convince people otherwise.
