Well it appears that somebody may have got upset about blowing a 6 run lead in the ninth inning recently? Only time will tell but it looks promising.
Junior Andrew Cabezasimpressed in his second straight Sunday start, and the Hurricanes finished off their first sweep of Virginia since 2008 with an 8-1 win at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
Cabezas, who was moved to the rotation prior to the team's series at Duke last weekend, was in control from the outset against the No. 24 Cavaliers.
The fiery righthander went six innings for the second time in a week, helping clinch Miami's first sweep of the spring and marking Virginia's first time being swept on the road since March 2015.
Cabezas struck out a season-high eight batters. He walked two, scattered three hits and surrendered just one run in a 90-pitch effort. While Cabezas (2-2) was sharp again , he was also the benefactor of some early offense for the second straight weekend.
The Hurricanes (12-11, 6-3 ACC), who scored seven runs in support of Cabezas last Sunday, plated four runs in the game's first two innings to jump out to an early 4-0 lead against the Cavaliers (13-10, 3-6 ACC).
"Knowing my teammates picked me up and scored those early runs, it made me a lot looser," Cabezas said. "I was attacking the zone a lot more. It's something I should be doing regardless but the fact that my team responded as quick as they did gives you much more confidence."
Freshman Isaac Quinones led the charge offensive with his third straight multi-hit game (2-for-4). Seven of Miami's nine starters had at least one hit, as the Hurricanes out-hit the Cavaliers for the third straight game.
It was Quinones who put Miami on the board in the first with a two-out, two-run double.
The Hurricanes strung three straight two-out hits off Virginia starter Bobby Nicholson (1-1) to take the lead. Singles from seniors Hunter Tackett and Michael Burnsset the stage for Quinones, who drove a 1-2 pitch to left field to score both runners.
"I was looking for one pitch, really. I sat back, waited on the pitch I was looking for and got an inside fastball," Quinones said.
As he has done countless occasions over the past three weeks as Miami's starting catcher, Quinones delivered in a big spot.
"It feels great," he said. "I knew getting a two-out hit, from the start, could get us going and get the energy going. I knew we would have the right momentum."
Now that's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, we like it!
tSully... Anyway you can make it to Atlanta Saturday for Miami-GT baseball?

UMike I was scheduled to be there but since I will be having Inguinal Hernia Surgery next month that's now a no go. However there will be a good number of Canes Family at the Game.

86,
In case you havent seen todays batch of practice videos, it seems the our football staff shares your concerns about leadership on offense. Thomas Brown's interview I found quite interesting:
https://youtu.be/UgHAgsVoN6A
Follow that up with this video of DJD:
https://youtu.be/Vcm6GkCoDbI
Its so nice to have a staff that recognizes this. They are making sure that the kids understand the legacy of Miami's player lead teams. The kids are starting to understand.
Soon I hope, probably against LSU, we are going to see that bit of a leadership spark on O. That simple thing could be all it takes to make Miami a force.

Sounds good! I'm definitely "in" for (2) Mid level/Club level seats, (for my wife and myself), when they become available... (200 or 300 Section?)
Can't wait!

IMO, Perry will be the QB-1. Just watching both QBs throw, it’s not really much of a competition. Of course, you never know what you have until the scrimmages, but Perry looks like an elite QB throwing the football, while Rosier, Weldon and Williams look good, but not as good as Perry. If Perry can read defenses and pick up the playbook, he will be QB-1 and this offense will score a lot. It will be an elite college football offense by mid season.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | March 27, 2018 at 11:24 PM
I think Perry will not make it. If he could not help the Canes win last year when Rosier was struggling (but the team was winning) then that is a non-starter. I got Williams then Weldon.

Agreed! Just watching him in pregames last year the ball had zip on it and was accurate! The ball came out different than the other Qb's. His main thing is learning the playbook!

86, I think that once Richards and Herndon went down in the Pitt game, coupled with the earlier loss of Walton...CM Richt and his staff took a realistic look at the roster and realized that they did not have the horsepower to win a NC. If so, why burn the redshirt?
I would rather have had Coker burn a year of Gore's eligibility in 2002 for the NC game...then it would have made a difference.

Only Perry can get it to Richards the way we need it to get there, on a rope. Its up to Perry now, he's got to master at least a section of that play book and become a leader. If not, we will be relying on Rosier to hit 59% and cut the INTs down to less than 10. Either way, it needs to be another solid 10 win season, with another haul in recruiting. Eventually there will be 4* after 4* offensive linemen in the trenches and we can start running teams over.

NFL UNVEILS RADICAL NEW SAFETY RULES
CANTON, OH (UT)
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell unveiled a series of new safety initiatives that have shaken the professional football world to it's core. The most fundamental alteration is that players will now be required to walk, and that any speed above a "brisk pace" would result in a 15 yard penalty and substantial fine. Additionally, uniforms would now be encased with "omni-padding", a new invention from South Florida that contains pockets of air within sheets of plastic. Finally, much as celebrations were deemed unworthy of the game, touchdowns themselves will now be done away with. Field goals will now be the sole means of scoring, and any games that are tied at the end of a game will remain tied. "We have to compete with soccer," said Goodell on the last point. "Fans of that sport thrill to the drama of low scores and even tied scores, and we must step up our game to ensure that we can overtake what I would call 'real football'."
