My really good friend (and huge Miami Hurricanes fan) Wally Porter and I recently spent some quality time on Lake Kissimmee.
We rented a cabin, went sightseeing, drank beer and went fishing before doing some serious BBQ along the banks of the pristine lake.
Needless to say a good time was had by all. The scenery was simply amazing and several people and animals were injured on this trip.
We took a high-speed airboat tour of the entire lake and slowed down to see numerous forms of wildlife as we wandered our course.
On our 3 hour tour we saw too many alligators to count along with bison, wild turkey, deer, fish, bald eagles and hawks.
The cabin we rented was fully equipped and very nice and clean with a great view. Everything anyone could ask for.
I know a really good guy named Wally Porter. He is a sincerely kind and generous soul who loves the outdoors. And I saved his life.
That is because he, and I, almost died on our little excursion. Forgo the details. But we will save that for future blogs.
Whaaa? 2 in a row? No way!

Bison? A near death experience? Were you attacked by bison?
Posted by: roachcane77 | April 04, 2018 at 06:55 AM
Very damn cool

We're all very curious now! Please tell!

No, the bison are slow and fairly peaceful. We were attacked by an 7 ft alligator and a steak. It's complicated. I will explain in due time.

If you're going to make carpaccio, it's always a good idea to kill the cow first.

If beef carpaccio wasn't on the menu, I hope you weren't experimenting with the old redneck recipe of steak M80

Outstanding! I love it! Canespace Family 4 Life!

So which attacked first the alligator or the steak?
Alligators can move fast when they have to, but a bad steak can run right through you.
Hmm maybe you were eliminating the bad steak when the alligator attacked. Now there's a good story.

Late night on the shores of Lake Kissimmee after the fire has died down, the pile of empties has reached three feet high, and the remains of three pounds of steak sit congealing in the plates.
Tom's staring out at the lake
"What do you think that is out there?"
"Gator"
Tom stares harder and thinks.
"Hey Wally. Ya think an alligator will drink a beer?"
"Yeah, but only if it's served with steak."
"Really"
"Yepp"
"Hey. Watch this."
Posted by: Old Skool | April 04, 2018 at 11:28 AM
Something like that. The steak struck first, the gator was later (pun intended).

OK, I think I have it... The Heimlich Maneuver was called for, and the gator was a qualified EMT.
Getting warmer?
(I really had my money on the bison though... )

No wait... the steak got sucked into the airboat propeller blades and the chum created attracted a swarm of gators!
Easy peasy...
(Can you tell I'm on Spring Break?)

Smd— Four-star LB Anthony Solomon from St. Thomas Aquinas has committed to the Hurricanes Class of 2019. Saw it on Inside the U.

You are batting 50/50.
The Heimlich maneuver was involved.
The gator was NOT an EMT, although he WAS a very unwelcome guest in our airboat.

YEEOUCH! Sounds like quite the trip!
("What a long, strange trip it's been... ")

I've heard of road gators, but boat gators is a first.

That's what happens when you fish for Shellcrackers in the middle of a huge clump of Lilly pads and a gator tries to snatch your fish from you while you are hoisting hoisting it into the airboat that rides low in the water.
Old Skool will appreciate this...It gave me a whole new perspective of bass fishing from a sit on top kayak with gators lurking nearby.

Definitely. Hope the steak you ate was gator.

In pads he has the look of Jon Vilma, but Vilma was a truly violent player.
