Go Canes!!

Bye Lonnie, we hardly knew ya.

NativeCane

Good luck Lonnie, the great ones never stay long!

NativeCane

Soup, I hope you are recovering well, that Gator skint you up but you showed his ass.
He found out what its like to get his ass wore out with a boat paddle!

Hurricanes- 1
Gators- 0

Roach, good guess on the steak, got stuck in my esophagus. Did you know that Coke (the drinking kind) will break down food stuck in your esophageal area.

Had a great time with a good buddy at my favorite playground....the Redneck Riviera!

Cane On !!!

BigWindyCane1

I wish Lonnie well. Lonnie has a lot of athletic ability and all the tools for NBA success, but like most draftees, he will have a lot to work on when he goes to the NBA. The work he puts in will define his success.

If the Canes can get Brown and Huell to return, the Canes should be a much better team next season.

IMO, Brown was never truly healthy this season. The Canes really didn't have a true point guard last season to distribute the ball. Brown was the swiss army knife, that provided the Canes with someone who was a close to a point guard in terms of distributing the ball. When Brown went out with the injury, the Canes became more of a team that generated their offense through individual offense instead of team offense. The Canes assist-to-turnover ratio was dreadful. The Canes not only missed Brown's assists, but also missed Brown's rebounding.

Watching Loyola-Chicago make the Final Four only made me wonder, "what if" in the NCAA tournament opening round game where the Canes lost by a last-minute three. We will see what adjustments that the Coach L makes next season.

roachcane77

Good info on the "Coke fix" NativeCane. (No pun intended.) Glad everything worked out OK.

CGNC

Looks like a nice place on Lake Kissimmee. Will be attending the Spring Game, who else?

WWIN

This willl serve as my formal request for my friend Epi to return to our blog.

I'd also appreciate it if Canerock and TD would post more often. 9 out of 10 times i appreciate their insight.

WW when not trolling is also very good.

Raoze I feel is becoming a closet UCF fan and may be lost forever. But I hope that's not the case.

Solar.....well that's wishing too much.

And last but not least my good friend Soup.

Donaldson plays guard not tackle.

Feels good to be missed! 😂

WWIN

How's everybody doing... What did I miss???

Old Skool

Thank God you were only fishing for shellcracker, here's a warning about cobia from the Tampa Bay Times

Every month I warn the students in my Underwater Hunter (spearfishing) class to be ultra-careful when spearing cobia. They’re super tough and relentless. They will find the weak link in your spear gear. Sometimes that weak link is you. Bigger cobia have broken my mask, my spear gun, my thumb and my pride. I speared a cobia in 2011 that was more than 85 pounds. My first steel spear fractured its spinal vertebrae. With my second spear, I cracked open its skull cap. Once I finally put my steel stringer through its eyes, it pulled its head back through the metal of the shipwreck and the fish split the remaining bone in its skull for 3 inches. When I handed the still-kicking fish to the guys on the boat (it took two of them to lift it in the boat), one of them fell backwards with the fish on top of him. The fish proceeded to beat him with violent strokes of its tail. Be careful of their power

CoCane

Willie,

all you missed was. Blah, blah, blah...

Hey skool an 85 lb. Shellcracker will whip a 85 lb. Cobia any day....they arent called the Rohan Marley of the shallows for nothing!
Wish U were there buddy, I've got little burn, bet Soup is red as a fire truck!

SOUP reporting...red as a fire truck, major cut on lower left leg from gator claw, scrape and bruise on left arm from falling after gator attack. Otherwise all systems are normal.

Yeah, Native, Soup turns red after walking by the heat lamp at the buffet.

That’s Canespace 101

86Cane

I ain't killed nobody yet, what's the big friggin deal. A few stitches here and there, a near drowning, a couple bumps and bruises, a brush with a bear and a skirmish with a gator. What harm is there in that?

Scrimmage today?

BigWindyCane1

It was a closed scrimmage. According to reports, Canes had a competitive scrimmage today. Rosier is still ahead of Perry. Perry is #2 and he has improved. Weldon was out with conjunctivitis and Williams looked good against the third string.

At RB, it was reported that Homer and Dallas played well, and so did Lingard, although his reported stats weren’t that good.

At WR, reports are that Jeff Thomas had a great day, and Harley also played well.

On defense, Rousseau padded the stats box with tackles, sacks and TFLs. CMR said the May have gotten a real good DE in Rousseau.

Interesting - as per ESPN, the Canes are favored in every game on their schedule this upcoming season

Go Canes!!

So far Perry is not looking like the answer.

Uh oh.

BEERicane

Perry may not be the answer, but he is the solution.

Terrance Sullivan

Lol 86 and Myself has been saying Perry is overrated. Perry is Jack Allison and Kevin Olsen overrated 4 stars who won't touch the field and ultimately transfer. Sad but oh well.

BigWindyCane1

IMO, it’s premature to say Perry is not the answer this year or next. Perry’s stats this spring compared to last fall signal he has made progress since last season. Perry became QB#2 during the course of the last regular season, and is pushing Rosier to get better.

I haven’t seen them scrimmage, so I cannot give an opinion on whether he has surpassed rosier. It takes more than athletic ability or arm talent to be QB, but IMO, Perry definitely has more talent than Rosier. Just watching them throw and move around, I think it’s obvious. But experience and the knowledge of the playbook will determine who starts against LSU, and even if Rosier starts the first game, there is no guarantee that he will start the whole season.

The QB is the key to this offense. Whoever starts at QB, as long as the Canes playmakers (Richards, Homer, Dallas, Lingard, Thomas, etc.,.) stay healthy, I am confident that this RPO and pro-style offense should put up big monster numbers. If not, it’s all on the QB, and this upcoming season, CMR is in a position to make a change if his QB plays as poorly as Rosier did to close out the season

Terrance Sullivan

Lol okay BWC whatever. Ha U the same person that said Ed Reed was just some dude on the 2001 National Championship Team lol. I was like yeah sure.

86Cane

So far Perry is not looking like the answer.

Uh oh.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | April 08, 2018 at 09:32 AM

Uh huh.

86Cane

BWC...It may be premature to say Perry is not the answer at QB for Miami in 2018 but I would feel (and sleep) a LOT better knowing the he was head and shoulders above Rosier at this point in time.

If Perry can't beat out Rosier this year (and he still might do so) then he likely will get passed eventually by Williams and Weldon and transfer out as TSully said.

Time will tell.

Now back to the "Kings of Spring"...

roachcane77

Barring injuries, I feel a LOT better about ANY of the backup QBs than last year.

I REALLY was pulling for Perry, but he may not be the EVERY DOWN QB we need him to be just yet. Perhaps they'll develop some "packages" for N'Kosi that will allow him "regular" playing time where he follows a scripted set of plays, (or series'), he has MASTERED, and can expand his repertoire from there. (I do NOT want to see him just come "in" for "wildcat" formations.)

They said he took the most sacks in the scrimmage, but that could partially be because he's being "coached" to NOT take off and scramble like he did in high school. (Sounds like our O-line struggled a bit in the scrimmage... NOT GOOD.)

WWIN

Every just needs to calm down...

I remember last year when Rosier was named the starter and fans said we would loss 4 regular season games... well we damn near came close to going undefeated. So now I'm hearing the same... SMH! Where's the faith at? Sure Rosier was not great last year... but he wasn't as bad as people make him out to be... the man broke a record for TD's his FIRST year and fans hate him? He OVERACHIEVED! LMAO

In reality... he blew the Pitt game... him AND the defense. He played horrible the Clemson game as well as the DEFENSE... but we were not ready for Clemson anyways... everybody knows damn well we wasn't going to beat Clemson so that game doesn't even count in my opinion. Wisconsin game wasn't his fault DEFENSE played bad again. So really he only cost us ONE game.

Why isn't anyone talking about how bad the defense played to end the season? Why isn't anyone talking about the QB coach... isn't it his job to get the QB's ready? If y'all haven't noticed... EVERY QB under this regime has been bad... Kaaya, Allison, Rosier, Sheriffs, and Perry... FIVE QB's but yet everybody keeps pointing the finger at the players? LMAO

Terrance Sullivan

WWIN Rosier was 12-27 for 145 yards 1 TD and 3 INT's but it wasn't his fault lmbao man stop the bullcrap.

roachcane77

I agree... we don't seem to be developing QBs like we SHOULD.

A new QB coach AND a new OC would be nice... oh wait, they're BOTH named Richt.

Guess that won't be happening anytime soon. LOL.

Terrance Sullivan

BK was a B, MR was a B minus. Sherriffs a D. Allison a F. Perry, Williams, and Weldon are incomplete.

WWIN

NONE of those INT's was his fault! Even CMR said it... but I guess he's wrong too? 🤣🤣🤣

Brad was a B-, Rosier was a C-, the others are honorable mention as of this date. I had a 3.82 at UM and graduated Cum Laude. Maybe I should try out?

This will be Richt's best impression of D'No.

Trust me.

86Cane

If Richt fails (and he will if he keeps his son as QB coach) then that is his D'No equivalent. He will not fire him and he will sink or swim with the results. If he thinks that he has 7 years to get this right then the only people riding with him will be the UM AD, not the fans.

Dorsey is probably the same coach imo, but you are correct that he only gets so long with the fans. The honeymoon will be over in a hurry, Miami has fans that wont put up with mediocrity for long. As a head coach, not making the necessary changes in coaches, will cause your head to roll. Miami doesnt care, make no mistake about it, but the fans WILL make it unbearable for them. Eventually Coastal championships wont be enough.

I will say Richt gets it more than any of the last 3 weve had here, this train is starting to roll. Not winning the Coastal will be seen as failure.

Terrance Sullivan

86 I think U should. I will be the Left or Right Guard.

I agree. The Canes will be favored in every game next season. Coastal Division championship is a minimum. ACC championship is doable. If the Canes win every regular season game, they will be in the CFP conversation. A New Years Day bowl win, and/or CFP is also achieveable.

His Royal Dudeness

Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | April 08, 2018 at 11:03 PM

I dont expect to win every game next year, but I do think its fair to ask to win the Coastal every year. Lets be real, GT, VT and UNC are not in our class, Shannon and Golden were absolute abominations for never having won the Coastal. I want to be in good position for a 2019 ACC run. It starts with winning the Coastal and ends with another elite local recruiting class. So far Richt has hit every realistic marker for a "program builder." Im not worried about QB. So long as we are stacking elite talent at every position, eventually it will pay off with a talented roster that even a scrub 4* will be able to QB it. We hired Mark Richt and now we have to wait on the return.

His Royal Dudeness

Also, Miami twitter teaches me so much about black people. 🤣

WWIN

I still say the QB position is better than it's been in years depth wise... if Rosier can't get it done Perry will get a shot... if Perry can't get it done Weldon will get a shot... and if all else fails Williams will get a shot. But let's not act like bama has had great QB play during their run. We should have went undefeated with Rosier last year... no reason we can't this year.

And again I say... DB's don't turn their head's around to play the ball... everybody blames Coach Rumph... but when QB's make a mistake it's the players.

WWIN

Me too! 🤣🤣🤣

Old Skool

Weldon appears to be the guy people are forgetting about. Last year, articles gave the indication he was a very smart quarterback who knew the playbook incredibly well. Can he read defenses, I would hope, but I don't know. I would imagine he's also had some pretty intensive coaching from his dad. We have what should be some amazing play makers on the offense. At this point, I would be comfortable with a QB who makes good decisions and delivers the ball with accuracy on regular basis, even if it's mostly the short stuff. He doesn't have to be an amazing athlete, we have that every where else, except tight end.
