Big Facts JCane!

JCane

The best thing about the win tonight was the pitching and d held late tonight, not allowing a run in the 8th after putting on 2 runners with no outside. This is a big change from earlier in the season, albeit vs. B.C. The U has also pulled out a bunch of extra inning or close wins during this streak. I'd think a win tomorrow, closing the season hot and with an 11 game streak, and being coach M's final season might boost the post season odds more than last year, assuming the win tomorrow, no ACC tournament implosion and not too many cellar dwellers winning conference tournaments and taking extra spots away. Good luck to coach M in what I'd assume will be his final game at the Light.

Why does EVERYONE in the NFL talk about wins and losses for QB's? Same for head coaches?

Because those two are the two most important factors!

People keep thinking that quarterbacking as only about passing... smh

WWIN

Posted by: CoCane | May 18, 2018 at 05:14 PM

FALSE!

Did he make some bad throws? HELL YEAH!

But the majority of his TD's was dimes... like the ones he threw to Berrios and Langham vs fsu... plus his running. Is not like he had plenty of time to throw either.

Does CMR get credit for the wins? So why wouldn't Rosier?

Go Canes!!

Agree with Co 100%

Not sure yet. Won't know until the end of summer...

Interesting: Breaking: #OhioState transfer QB Joe Burrow has picked LSU, according to highly-placed #UC source. Had narrowed it to LSU and #Bearcats.

Nosier didn't go 10-3. This isn't Tennis. He isn't play by himself. It's football. A team sport.

THE TEAM WENT 10-3, WON THE COASTAL, BEAT FSU, VT AND ND. THE TEAM EARNED A BIRTH TO THE ORANGE BOWL.

Duly noted LOL

CoCane

Willie,

No one is slighting Rosier. He gets credit for what he did. A few nice throws a game and few timely throws a game. He also gets credit for several throws into the dirt a game. Too often throwing bad balls that if thrown in stride would have been TD's or big yardage. Instead, the WR has to dive, jump or slow down to make the catch and was wide open.

Most of the game changing and winning plays were made inspite of him, not because of him. So, when you say he (Rosier) won games it sounds ridiculous. You're giving him the credit for those wins. The credit should be going to Richards, Herndon, Walton, Homer, Berrios and Thomas. The NFL caliber guys, that made NFL caliber plays, that TRULY won the game. The reason they are in the NFL or on the NFL's radar. Not him.

Nosier doesn't deserve their credit. It's blasphemy.

Dear CGNC... please see above that Go Canes brought Bradley Kaaya up and not yours truly! Also my tone in this upcoming post is calm, even keeled, inside voice.

Now...

1. You do know that Kaaya was HORRIBLE the first half vs WVU in the bowl game... in ALL CAPS... but you keep leaving that part out. We didn't get a 1st down till right before halftime. I didn't make up his grade... that was his actual grade... a F... and they said it was the WR's not him... I didn't say it but my opinion is the same. He had a healthy Walton, AR, Coley, Njoku, and Herndon. Our offense looked bad all season Kaaya's junior year till the last 3 games of the season.

2. I said those 3 picks weren't on Rosier then CMR said the same thing... so who's right you or CMR???

9 in a row for baseball team is awesome, with two more to go, and likely need to win them both to keep their post-season chances alive. Next game 7pm tonight. Unfortunately, having the rainout vs. Stetson midweek hurt, as a win vs. Stetson would have helped the RPI and boosted the postseason odds (assuming a win, of course). Have a good weekend all.

Go Canes!!

Posted by: WWIN | May 17, 2018 at 08:06 PM

Me: Kaaya finished 23 of his final 24 throws with 4 TDs and helped us win our first bowl game in seven years. Awesome effort!

WW: Anyone could have done that. I could have completed as many passes as he did. It was all the receivers getting wide open. He actually got a failing grade. He sucks.

Everyone knows you dont know anything about football!!!

Me: Rosier went 11-26 with three picks, including one that completely changed the momentum of the game against Wisconsin. He had a pretty bad outing.

WW: The offensive lineman fell. The receivers were held. He had to throw into triple coverage, no one could get open. The play calling was terrible. The o-line sucks. Stats are deceiving. He actually had a great game.

Everyone knows you dont know anything about football!!!

Good defense and getting a turnover is two different things! We talking about the same defense that can't stop a 3rd and 26???

For example... Wisconsin marched straight down the field on us then fumbled AFTER HITTING THE GROUND... that's not good defense that's bad defense then getting bailed out by the ref's!

Go Canes! WWIN definitely has Pure Comedy. Naw WWIN I dont go off of what I hear actually do research something you seem allergic to. Both of these post were great and spot on, Co.

To add to this.

Strengths-

Counter and veer option game. Worked awesome in our biggest games. May have helped when the run game went belly up at the most important times.

DJ M****F****** Dallas. His package helped us when the offense struggled.

Red zone defense was really good, sometimes great. Teams usually only got 3.

Weaknesses-

Defensive pre snap alignment-This is the main reason scrub qbs look like heisman candidates. I was baffled about the not just using base d against the spread, but also matching your worst linebacker against the slot. I wish somebody with more knowledge would explain why we ran our d like that so often. Teams quick passes often to avoid the pass rush. With less blitzing and better pre snap matchups, we would get more picks and deflections.

Underneath pass reaction- even when not terribly aligned our d did not play in space well enough in cover 3 defense. Way too much open space.

Not enough batted passes- did this well in 16 but regressed in 17. Teams were terrified of our pass rush and got the ball out quick. Need to reemphasize those drills.

Offensive play calling- Richt is rusty. His play calling rhythm is a little off from a game planning and sequence stand point. He has good plays but his “feel” is not quite there. He has to have an elite qb to run his system. What he did with Malik was very, very good but could have been better. We knew Malik was inaccurate but the run game was super vanilla. He is an option q.b. We should have had more option plays. Better quick passing design is still needed after two years. It is how you beat a better team. The days of 5 step drop with all day to throw are long gone.

I am more worried about play calling than Malik. If Malik struggles, he WILL be pulled. But Richt had many of the same offensive problems with polar opposite qbs in 16 & 17.

I think everyone, including Richt and Malik, will get better, because Richt has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he can develop players and make them play hard. If he finds his play calling rhythm, gets more versatility in the run game ( just a little option, PLEASE?), and uses the short pass better, Malik could get hot and confident and with our defense, 2018 could be the year for our dark horse title run.

Terrance Sullivan

Lmbao yea okay WWIN. Where is Malik in the Top 10 in any category. Pure Comedy.

WWIN

Posted by: Go Canes!! | May 17, 2018 at 09:52 AM

Please... 3rd and 20 vs our defense might as well be 3rd and a inch! 🤣

If anything the defense and Rosier was the same... INCONSISTENT but made BIG PLAYS when needed!

BigWindyCane1

With Norland and Northwestern set to take on IMG in the Fall, I am sure both schools will get some transfers.

BigWindyCane1

As per Miami Herald:

BRADENTON
Nationally-ranked IMG Academy, a high school football powerhouse in Bradenton released schedules for its two varsity teams.

The Blue team, which plays a national schedule and is loaded with several 5-star and 4-star college football recruits each year, is set to face several top teams again.

Three games, in particular, stand out: Aug. 31 against Norland High, Sept. 21 against defending national champion Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) High and Sept. 29 against Northwestern High.

Go Canes!!

I’m not bashing Malik. I just don’t want to hear nonsense about how he’s somehow better than he is because we won 10 games and made the ACC Championship.

Anyone with two eyes know this team won 10 games with an aggressive, turnover creating defense, an amazing home field advantage, a clutch throw by Malik at FSU and a little luck.

thirstybuzzardcane

No one on here has ever said Rosier was all world. He really didn't have that bad of a season. Of course he needs to work on his accuracy

I'll give him the first 6 games to see if he has improved. If he hasn't, then I'll start bashing him.

Pretty sure that took some type of game planning don’t you? To me that’s doing exactly what. Co said.

BigWindyCane1

Great discussion. I agree with much that has been said. QB inaccuracies are a problem, but play calling and offensive line play also have some impact on QB success. I will make a prediction: if our Canes QB (Rosier, WILLIAMS or Perry) completes 62% or more of his passes, with 7 interceptions or less, the Canes will make the College Football Playoffs.

WWIN

That is obvious to anyone who's objective, at all.

Didn't say that... I said he played 10 games in a row and had a injured throwing shoulder in which we were comparing both QB's... Wisconsin QB didn't play 10 games in a row and wasn't injured.

Alabama public school system strikes again!

86Cane

Clemson has four defensive linemen projected to go in the first round next season and Wisconsin had the #2 overall defense in the country.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | May 16, 2018 at 11:12 PM

So what you are saying is we suck compared to them.

Yes, I agree.

Now about knowing that going INTO the game and NOT game planning around that?

Yeah, that is is on the OC, Uh, Oh wait, I mean the head coach.

CoCane

Weaknesses-

3rd down (Offense and defense). Badly timed blitzes and DB not turning around allowed opponents to convert too many 3rd downs that kept the D on the field.

Rosier's inaccuracy. missed a lot of easy completions underneath, intermediate and long that cost too many 1st downs and TD's. This kept games closer then they should have been.

Inconsistent OL. Pushed around too much at the point of attack and in the pocket. Made 3rd and short too much of a struggle.

LB's and DB's taking bad angles or not getting off blocks. Gave up too many chunk plays at times.

Interceptions. (See Rosier's inaccuracy...)

Special teams. Not many big returns. Frosh punter Feagles struggled badly.

If I left some things out, chime in...

Terrance Sullivan

Well said 86, CoCane, and Go Canes.

Clemson was #4 overall and played a hell of a schedule.

Go Canes!!

Posted by: 86Cane | May 16, 2018 at 11:03 PM

Clemson has four defensive linemen projected to go in the first round next season and Wisconsin had the #2 overall defense in the country.

A ton of offensive lines looked bad against those two teams.

Co is right. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible.

CoCane

Team strengths and weaknesses last season:

No opinions, just facts...

Strengths-

Skill players. TE, WR, RB made big runs, catches and explosive plays. Timely scrambles by Rosier helped out also. The only consistent part of the offense was the big play.

Opportunistic defense. Game changing plays helped secure big wins.

Resilience. The team played hard and left it all out on the field, win or lose.

DL. Brought pressure, TFL's and sacks were abundant.

Turnovers. Top 10 in the country in turnover margin. This always makes winning easier.

Play calling. To get the production that they got inspite of erratic OL and QB play deserves kudos. FOR NOW.

86Cane

They sucked vs Clemson ans Whisky though so there is that.

86Cane

Imagine that? Add FSU?

CoCane

To be fair. The OL dominated in 2 of the biggest games of the season against ND and VT.

86Cane

Richt trusts him? TRUSTS HIM? WTF does that mean?

He sucks but he won't turn it over? If the only thing I like in my QB, who cannot hit the broad side of a barn, is to NOT turn it over then F*** that! He ain't got it, can't you see?

The OL has it's issues, sure we can ALL admit that, but even when not rushed or hurried, he could not even see the rockets red glare or the bombs bursting in air, much less his WIDE OPEN wide receivers. Trust me I was there!

His Royal Dudeness

How the hell did I get sucked into this conversation anyways?

When in the hell did anyone say Malik was world class? Some of you guys read what you want to read.

Go, to answer your question, a great QB is a good thing to have and can hide some poor OL play, but a great OL gives you 5 yards per rush and keeps the QB clean on 3rd down. Id rather have an elite OL over an elite QB. It doesnt matter because we have neither.

If Malik is the QB in the fall its because Mark Richt trusts him. If Mark Richt trusts him, well then I have to also. So far under Richt, everyone has gotten better, even Brad Kaaya, who was terrible sometimes. I have zero reason to believe that Malik cant get better or that the play calling cant get better, in fact Im very optimistic about featuring the FB next year. My concern rests only on the offensive line which got its ass handed to them over and over again last year. They were confused, bullied and shook in too many games.

86Cane

Damn redneck Wally from lake Kissimmee knows more than Tennessee WWIN! He could take him too?

86Cane

WWIN with the Fake News. Bruh this ridiculous pandering you are doing is beyond embarrassing. That Tennessee Education must be basura!

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 16, 2018 at 08:41 PM

EXACTLY!

Go Canes!!

This is the primary reason why we won 10 games:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXL583gZAyg

Go Canes!!

Wisconsin didn't win 13 games because of their QB, Alabama didn't win the NC because of theirs and we didn't win 10 games and go the Championship game because of ours.

That is obvious to anyone who's objective, at all.
