Go Canes!!

This is the primary reason why we won 10 games:

WWIN with the Fake News. Bruh this ridiculous pandering you are doing is beyond embarrassing. That Tennessee Education must be basura!

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 16, 2018 at 08:41 PM

EXACTLY!

86Cane

Damn redneck Wally from lake Kissimmee knows more than Tennessee WWIN! He could take him too?

His Royal Dudeness

How the hell did I get sucked into this conversation anyways?

When in the hell did anyone say Malik was world class? Some of you guys read what you want to read.

Go, to answer your question, a great QB is a good thing to have and can hide some poor OL play, but a great OL gives you 5 yards per rush and keeps the QB clean on 3rd down. Id rather have an elite OL over an elite QB. It doesnt matter because we have neither.

If Malik is the QB in the fall its because Mark Richt trusts him. If Mark Richt trusts him, well then I have to also. So far under Richt, everyone has gotten better, even Brad Kaaya, who was terrible sometimes. I have zero reason to believe that Malik cant get better or that the play calling cant get better, in fact Im very optimistic about featuring the FB next year. My concern rests only on the offensive line which got its ass handed to them over and over again last year. They were confused, bullied and shook in too many games.

86Cane

Richt trusts him? TRUSTS HIM? WTF does that mean?

He sucks but he won't turn it over? If the only thing I like in my QB, who cannot hit the broad side of a barn, is to NOT turn it over then F*** that! He ain't got it, can't you see?

The OL has it's issues, sure we can ALL admit that, but even when not rushed or hurried, he could not even see the rockets red glare or the bombs bursting in air, much less his WIDE OPEN wide receivers. Trust me I was there!

CoCane

To be fair. The OL dominated in 2 of the biggest games of the season against ND and VT.

86Cane

Imagine that? Add FSU?

86Cane

They sucked vs Clemson ans Whisky though so there is that.

CoCane

Team strengths and weaknesses last season:

No opinions, just facts...

Strengths-

Skill players. TE, WR, RB made big runs, catches and explosive plays. Timely scrambles by Rosier helped out also. The only consistent part of the offense was the big play.

Opportunistic defense. Game changing plays helped secure big wins.

Resilience. The team played hard and left it all out on the field, win or lose.

DL. Brought pressure, TFL's and sacks were abundant.

Turnovers. Top 10 in the country in turnover margin. This always makes winning easier.

Play calling. To get the production that they got inspite of erratic OL and QB play deserves kudos. FOR NOW.

Go Canes!!

Clemson has four defensive linemen projected to go in the first round next season and Wisconsin had the #2 overall defense in the country.

A ton of offensive lines looked bad against those two teams.

Co is right. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible.

Go Canes!!

https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22

Clemson was #4 overall and played a hell of a schedule.

Terrance Sullivan

Well said 86, CoCane, and Go Canes.

CoCane

Weaknesses-

3rd down (Offense and defense). Badly timed blitzes and DB not turning around allowed opponents to convert too many 3rd downs that kept the D on the field.

Rosier's inaccuracy. missed a lot of easy completions underneath, intermediate and long that cost too many 1st downs and TD's. This kept games closer then they should have been.

Inconsistent OL. Pushed around too much at the point of attack and in the pocket. Made 3rd and short too much of a struggle.

LB's and DB's taking bad angles or not getting off blocks. Gave up too many chunk plays at times.

Interceptions. (See Rosier's inaccuracy...)

Special teams. Not many big returns. Frosh punter Feagles struggled badly.

If I left some things out, chime in...

So what you are saying is we suck compared to them.

Yes, I agree.

Now about knowing that going INTO the game and NOT game planning around that?

Yeah, that is is on the OC, Uh, Oh wait, I mean the head coach.

WWIN

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 16, 2018 at 08:41 PM

Didn't say that... I said he played 10 games in a row and had a injured throwing shoulder in which we were comparing both QB's... Wisconsin QB didn't play 10 games in a row and wasn't injured.

Alabama public school system strikes again!

That summed it up pretty well imo.

Posted by: 86Cane | May 16, 2018 at 10:15 PM

Hes probably better than the other guys. Another year, maybe he knows where those guys are? To be fair, didnt he find some savvy throws out there also? I seem to remember him finding some TDs, and making some cagey runs for 1st downs.

WWIN

That is obvious to anyone who's objective, at all.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | May 16, 2018 at 08:45 PM

It's obvious to anyone objective that you NEVER criticized Golden.

BigWindyCane1

Great discussion. I agree with much that has been said. QB inaccuracies are a problem, but play calling and offensive line play also have some impact on QB success. I will make a prediction: if our Canes QB (Rosier, WILLIAMS or Perry) completes 62% or more of his passes, with 7 interceptions or less, the Canes will make the College Football Playoffs.

No matter what happens next year, I cant see us beating Clemson.

Total agreement BigWindyCane

You know we are close to the bottom of a conversation when we are comparing ourselves to a BIG Ten school :-)

Go Canes!!

Well we scored 24 points and ran for 175 yards against Wisconsin despite our QB only completing 11-26 for 200 yds and 3 picks.

Pretty sure that took some type of game planning don’t you? To me that’s doing exactly what. Co said.

Try discussing instead of hashtagging something dumb for a change.

How many examples prove you’re full of it?

One?

Two?

Four?

You are right, I deleted those comments.

thirstybuzzardcane

No one on here has ever said Rosier was all world. He really didn't have that bad of a season. Of course he needs to work on his accuracy

I'll give him the first 6 games to see if he has improved. If he hasn't, then I'll start bashing him.

Go Canes!!

I’m not bashing Malik. I just don’t want to hear nonsense about how he’s somehow better than he is because we won 10 games and made the ACC Championship.

Anyone with two eyes know this team won 10 games with an aggressive, turnover creating defense, an amazing home field advantage, a clutch throw by Malik at FSU and a little luck.

Go Canes!!

Vegas has us at 8 1/2 wins. Buying the over. Big.

6 games? Wow, you are a merciful man. I was think 3 games tops.

BigWindyCane1

As per Miami Herald:

BRADENTON
Nationally-ranked IMG Academy, a high school football powerhouse in Bradenton released schedules for its two varsity teams.

The Blue team, which plays a national schedule and is loaded with several 5-star and 4-star college football recruits each year, is set to face several top teams again.

Three games, in particular, stand out: Aug. 31 against Norland High, Sept. 21 against defending national champion Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) High and Sept. 29 against Northwestern High.

BigWindyCane1

With Norland and Northwestern set to take on IMG in the Fall, I am sure both schools will get some transfers.

Please... 3rd and 20 vs our defense might as well be 3rd and a inch! 🤣

If anything the defense and Rosier was the same... INCONSISTENT but made BIG PLAYS when needed!

Terrance Sullivan

Lmbao yea okay WWIN. Where is Malik in the Top 10 in any category. Pure Comedy.

Both of these post were great and spot on, Co.

To add to this.

Strengths-

Counter and veer option game. Worked awesome in our biggest games. May have helped when the run game went belly up at the most important times.

DJ M****F****** Dallas. His package helped us when the offense struggled.

Red zone defense was really good, sometimes great. Teams usually only got 3.

Weaknesses-

Defensive pre snap alignment-This is the main reason scrub qbs look like heisman candidates. I was baffled about the not just using base d against the spread, but also matching your worst linebacker against the slot. I wish somebody with more knowledge would explain why we ran our d like that so often. Teams quick passes often to avoid the pass rush. With less blitzing and better pre snap matchups, we would get more picks and deflections.

Underneath pass reaction- even when not terribly aligned our d did not play in space well enough in cover 3 defense. Way too much open space.

Not enough batted passes- did this well in 16 but regressed in 17. Teams were terrified of our pass rush and got the ball out quick. Need to reemphasize those drills.

Offensive play calling- Richt is rusty. His play calling rhythm is a little off from a game planning and sequence stand point. He has good plays but his “feel” is not quite there. He has to have an elite qb to run his system. What he did with Malik was very, very good but could have been better. We knew Malik was inaccurate but the run game was super vanilla. He is an option q.b. We should have had more option plays. Better quick passing design is still needed after two years. It is how you beat a better team. The days of 5 step drop with all day to throw are long gone.

I am more worried about play calling than Malik. If Malik struggles, he WILL be pulled. But Richt had many of the same offensive problems with polar opposite qbs in 16 & 17.

I think everyone, including Richt and Malik, will get better, because Richt has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he can develop players and make them play hard. If he finds his play calling rhythm, gets more versatility in the run game ( just a little option, PLEASE?), and uses the short pass better, Malik could get hot and confident and with our defense, 2018 could be the year for our dark horse title run.

#1 in the school record book for TD's where's the defense at??? I can tell you just go off of what you hear!

You’ve become a parody account.

Terrance Sullivan

Go Canes! WWIN definitely has Pure Comedy. Naw WWIN I dont go off of what I hear actually do research something you seem allergic to. Soup used to think you were just kicking the ant pile naw unfortunately you have went into the clownish role and just talking and typing outta your arse. Just Pathetic! I usually say Do Better but you have shown countless times a refusal to do so. I have just washed my hands with you because you are a lost cause. So when I say what categories Malik is in the Top 10 Nationwide you couldn't give us any answers lol. Trashing the Defense but Defense is in Top 10 is takaways, sacks, tackles for loss but you want to call them Trash. Just being a 5 Star A**clown!

Terrance Sullivan

Kudos to Malik for setting the school record for TD's that's a cool accomplishment.

CoCane

Not cooler then the plays made by the WR's and Herndon made that gave him the TD passes.

Good analysis, Tru! I would like to see a lot more motion from our RB and WR, especially WR!

You've BEEN a parody account! 🤣🤣🤣

NOBODY here believes you know anything about football!

So setting a school record ain't sh*t right... anybody could do it? 🤣🤣🤣

You go off of what the in-crowd says!

Good defense and getting a turnover is two different things! We talking about the same defense that can't stop a 3rd and 26???

For example... Wisconsin marched straight down the field on us then fumbled AFTER HITTING THE GROUND... that's not good defense that's bad defense then getting bailed out by the ref's!

Sinistercane1

Manny should have never been hired, LBs have regressed under him and 3rd and 30 might as well be 3rd and inches

Terrance Sullivan

Lol

Sinistercane1

Look up the word replacable and you’ll see manny’s face

86Cane

What the hell is going on a round here?

Wow, just stop it!

Terrance Sullivan

Canes win 3-0 now 9 wins in a row 26-25.

86Cane

Hard ballers playing HARD BALL!

Sinistercane1

We quick to say which player is not CANEZ material but nobody dare speaks of all the JAGS on the coaching staff
