MEN'S TENNIS The University of Miami men's tennis team received a bid to the 2018 NCAA Team Championship, as announced on the NCAA selection show Tuesday evening. The Hurricanes (14-12, 4-8 ACC), who will compete at the national stage for the 23rd time in program history, will remain in-state and travel to Gainesville, Fla., to face in-state foe, North Florida, in the opening round Saturday, May 12. Miami is ranked No. 39, while the Ospreys are unranked. |

BASEBALL It took five hours and 28 minutes, but the Hurricanes departed with a win Sunday evening– exactly what head coach Jim Morris and his team were looking for. In a game that featured a near two-hour rain delay, eight pitching changes and 28 combined hits, junior Romy Gonzalez walked it off for the Hurricanes in a 12-11 win to cap a weekend sweep of Bethune-Cookman at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. |

GOLF The Miami women's golf team plays in the NCAA Austin Regional Monday through Wednesday at the par-72, 6,341-yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Making their sixth straight trip to an NCAA Regional under head coach Patti Rizzo, the Canes are attempting to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year and the 26th time in program history. |

I agree, but lets beat LSU and be a pretender for most of the year again! Crootin.

Any chance Bogle commits this weekend?

Baseball moves to within 3 games of 500. Solid outing in win over FGCU, 7 to 1. 7 games left. 3 versus VT and 3 versus BC with a mid week match against stetson in between. they still need close to perfection, but anything is possible.

Big Facts JCane

Terrance, being conservative on that call. The prop I’ll give to the 2005 squad is not the normal one - that outside of that loss at the end of the regular season we are potentially in the NC game. It is that if you look at the defense, outside of the LSU game no Canes team but the 2001 version was as dominant. We gave up a very, very low amount of points per game.
But point taken, Ill go with 2019 being the best team since 2003.
Posted by: TonyCane | May 11, 2018 at 07:59 AM
Sinister, the question about Scott is - does Jen burn the redshirt of Weldon or Perry to replace an injured, ineffective Rozier against Pitt? Im not against it, but that action could have huge consequences for the program.
Stephen Morris would have been our QB in 2014 if not for a decision to burn a redshirt late in the year, and Brad Kayla likely would have been our starter in 2017 as a result.

Excellent post sir.
But to some on here "Doing the same thing he did at Georgia" that's a failure.
They don't get being in the Conference Chamionship game and getting a potential final four spot is the preseason goal of every big time program's goal.
We were actually there last season. Not Ohio State. Not Penn State, Not USC. Not about 100 other tea
Us.
With by far the least talented team of the last 6-8 teams standing.
With by far the least talented QB.
With by far the weakest O-line.
With by far the fewest playmakers left standing.
in Richt's second season after one true recruiting class.
Huh?
I swear the "Yeah but Scott Frost went undefeated playing the 105th rankned schedule in the country so he's the best ever!" crowd make me laugh.
Keep wearing your ignorance as some type of badge of honor.
It's hysterical.

Like some type of parody account?
There's no way the "flapping of the thumbs" comment can possibly be real.
That was some comedic gold.
Thanks whoever that was, you made my morning.

Sup spacers... Trying to catch up. We need better QB play and better play calling. I honestly don't know how we could have the games we played against VT and ND and then finish the last 4 games the way we did. Remember, we had to come back twice to beat UVA before losing to Pitt. Not sure who is to blame, but hard to put it on he D.
If CMR can't do better he will need to bring in a legit OC. Hopefully he has learned.

To your 1st question Scott Frost would have burnt all red-shirts to win but not NoO who wanted to save Perry's 4th year of eligibility????
Frost = play to WIN time now
NoO = building for next year

This is an all time classic from you.
Perry can't beat out Rosier now, after a year in the system. Every indication from all the reports coming out of spring ball is he's falling behind Williams.
But you still come on making it sound like Richt held back some secret weapon that could have delivered us to the promise land.
Come on.

He’s a hell of a coach. Not denying it or saying he’s not.
But he’s had exactly one good season.
One. Against a terrible schedule.
So forgive me for not annoiting him the next Saban.

I complained all the time about Golden. You know that.
Saying otherwise fits your narrative. Not reality.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | May 11, 2018 at 01:20 PM
To be fair Sinister, Frost is absolutely playing to win now. UCF was not his final stop. He had his eyes on a bigtime program. If Frost were coach at Miami with that attitude, we probably would have played Rozier, Evan, Perry, and Weldon during the Pitt game. Frost doesn’t care as much about next year or two years from now. He wont be the coach in the future if he wins now.
Posted by: TonyCane | May 11, 2018 at 01:49 PM
And if Frost is really that good, I expect at minimum that he takes Nebraska to a national title in the 2019 season. After all, the Cornhuskers were not winless in 2017. Frost inherits more talent, and this should be capable of knocking off Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Miami, and Alabama in two years with his new team.
Personally, I think that Tom Herman will ultimately prove to have greater upside than Frost, but we will see.

Posted by: WWIN | May 11, 2018 at 11:48 AM
The Hurricanes were still a relevant team on the national championship level in December for the first time since 2002.
15 years of being irrelevant and eliminated long before the season ended.
Posted by: Gin & Tonic | May 11, 2018 at 02:08 PM
LOL how were irrelevent in 2003 when we were 11-2 and finished #5 in the nation lol.

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 11, 2018 at 02:19 PM
Because back to back loses to V-tech and Tennessee knocked Miami out of the top ten and out of National championship contention.

If we asked every blogger on here they would all say you're lying
Posted by: WWIN | May 11, 2018 at 05:57 PM
The Herb knows this, if the play calling isn't any better and if Rosier doesn't improve then we will be no better than we were last year. Right has had 2 full recruiting v lasses to address our problems on the o-line and we still don't have a legit O-tackle. We still have a few depth issues and still have not reached the 85 ship limit. When's the last time we brought in 25 players or the limit. We are still losing or not getting some of the top talent, in the neighborhood. Consistent winning will alleviate some of these problems but also the growth of some these pup coaches we have.

The visiting U takes game 1 in Blacksburg, scoring 1 in the top of the 12th for a 5-4 victory after allowing a pair for VT in the home half of the 9th. Still, road wins have been tough to come by this season, and all wins are very important while trying to inch toward .500. A 3 game sweep would of VT be what the dr. ordered. Don't trust this team at this point, but I keep hoping for growth and a nice late season win streak.

6 games left, 5 vs. ACC teams. If the U wins 4 out of the 5, assuming a loss to an ACC team, the baseball team would finish the season with a winning record overall and a winning record in conference. Throw this in with a potentially strong season finish and the post season is possible. Still would have to deal with an ACC tournament though. Let's take care of VT this weekend prior to 4 straight in the friendly confines of the Light.

On my way to Dallas Cowboy stadium. The tour is hour and a half long. I heard you can't take pictures, bummer. I still need two tickets for the LSU game and hope to sit with some Canes family.
I will do a follow up and let everyone know if it is worth $27 a person for seniors and $32 for Adults.
