MEN'S TENNIS The University of Miami men's tennis team received a bid to the 2018 NCAA Team Championship, as announced on the NCAA selection show Tuesday evening. The Hurricanes (14-12, 4-8 ACC), who will compete at the national stage for the 23rd time in program history, will remain in-state and travel to Gainesville, Fla., to face in-state foe, North Florida, in the opening round Saturday, May 12. Miami is ranked No. 39, while the Ospreys are unranked. |

BASEBALL It took five hours and 28 minutes, but the Hurricanes departed with a win Sunday evening– exactly what head coach Jim Morris and his team were looking for. In a game that featured a near two-hour rain delay, eight pitching changes and 28 combined hits, junior Romy Gonzalez walked it off for the Hurricanes in a 12-11 win to cap a weekend sweep of Bethune-Cookman at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. |

GOLF The Miami women's golf team plays in the NCAA Austin Regional Monday through Wednesday at the par-72, 6,341-yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Making their sixth straight trip to an NCAA Regional under head coach Patti Rizzo, the Canes are attempting to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year and the 26th time in program history. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we a couple games over .500 in baseball last year and still missed the playoffs?
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | May 12, 2018 at 05:49 PM
I'm expecting the FSU game to have the same atmosphere!!! Can't wait!

VT and ND games was crazy last year. FSU game was crazy in 2016 but the ND game was loudest.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 12, 2018 at 06:13 PM
What made those two games huge was both games had teams ranked and rivals and something on the line. VT Game was for the Coastal. ND game battle of Top 10 teams. Rival. If both Miami and FSU are in Top 10 when they play yes it could probably match it but that's no guarantee at all.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | May 12, 2018 at 06:16 PM
Lol FSU was 7-6 last year but some on here want to act like they were 10-3 or 13-1 or something lol.

Of course we have to take care of our End of the deal and not flop this year. We need to be in the Top 10 by October 6th. Both Us and Them have huge opening Games. We play LSU in Arlington on Sunday September 2nd and They host VT(Wished both teams could lose I despise both of them) on Monday September 3rd.

Can we stop letting mediocre QB's have career days against us
Posted by: SinisterCane | May 12, 2018 at 10:36 PM
Tbc:
The baseball Team was one of the last ones out last year. They came on strong at the end, but we're still just on the outside of the bubble. Obviously, having a well above 500 season would guarantee post season play. Nevertheless, coming on strong at the end and finishing with a winning record gives them a fighting chance. Hopefully they will finish strong is at least make it a thought for the ncaa.

Back from the Cowboy stadium tour. Well worth the time and money. I am not a Jerry Jones fan but I have to give to give him credit for building a
unbelievable stadium. Take the tour and make sure you do the guided tour. The information you get is amazing.
The plying field is 59 feet below the entry floor level. The Statue of liberty could sit on the field and not be near the top of the roof. The
TV screen is over 40 yards wide. There is not a bad seat in the place. All seats are assume. The place is amazing.
More info later.

I'm sure Scott Frost would have.
I mean he held Austin Peay to 33, SMU and U Conn to 24, USF to 42, Memphis to 55 and Auburn to 27.

Thanks Harry, that confirms what my friend who went out there last year told me. I am definitely going to try to schedule a tour during our time there for the LSU game. (Possibly with our group of Soup, Terrance, and families if they're up for it.)
Can I ask how long the guided tour lasted, and what times they run them? Thanks.
Hope to see you out there!
And Happy Mother's Day to all of the Cane Mothers out there!

Happy Mother day to all Mom's.
Tour, they say 1 1/2 hours, but you will be their longer. The guided tour takes you to more places then the self guided tour. Like Jerry Jones personal sweet where only he and his son watches the game from. What the guide tells you is really cool about what he dose during game. The view from his sweet is amazing. You go to all locker rooms.
including the Cowboys cheerleaders. The special dinning areas and much more.
You hear all the details of the construction like taking one year to remove x amount of yards of
soil for the for the under ground level of the stadium. The largest sliding doors in the would.
The information you hear is endless. At the end you go on the field for as long as you like. I took it in for 55 yards. iF YOU TAKE KIDS THEY WILL LOVE PLAYING ON THE FIELD
DO NOT MISS THIS GUIDED TOUR.
They have a tour every half hour starting at 10:00 am

Again, if Frost is the real deal - if he is the supreme coaching machine - then he should do exactly what he did at UCF now that he is in Nebraska. An undefeated season and a national championship in 2019. And that will mean wins over the Big Ten powers, Alabama, and probably Miami.

Hmmm... I think I just had a post get eaten... Oh well... try, try again...
Thanks again for the info Harry. I'm DEFINITELY going to work on scheduling a "guided" stadium tour when we're out there.
Nice hearing about Lingard burning it up at the ACC Track & Field Championships... Dude looks ripped!
Also, always good to hear about new recruits signing on, (the Safety Smith flipping from UK.) Just wish we'd hear a LOT MORE about BIG DOG LINEMEN!!!

Maybe we can do the tour Friday afternoon. We are doing Six Flags Saturday morning.

Safety Smith, flips from Kentucky. Ranked 220 and 12 best safety prospect. Need some beef, now on dem lines.
Posted by: Herbieibis | May 13, 2018 at 02:46 PM
Keontra Smith moves the Canes 2019 class ahead of FSU, into 4th place nationally and first in the ACC. First DB in this class.
