Toledo is a great MAC team, but there are a few ACC teams on the Canes schedule that Toledo could probably beat.

Posted by: BigWindyCane | September 16, 2018 at 12:03 PM

I think Miami was their only loss last year?

Go Canes!!

Posted by: CaneRock | September 16, 2018 at 12:54 PM

Agree with you that we should beat our remaining schedule, with the exception of VT, no matter who’s under center.

But I also think Toledo would probably be 3-0 against Notre Dane’s schedule.

BigWindyCane

Looks like Miami didn’t move up in any of the polls. Looking at the teams ahead of the Canes, and i am not impressed with many of them.

I also see that the Canes have lots of room to move up over the next few weeks. If the Canes take care of business as they should, they will be back in or near the top ten by the time they get into the BC game.

Frank Gore is now #4 on all time NFL rushing list

Gore, Edge and Portis are all HoFers for me.

HawaiiCane

Are you kidding me?!?!?! No movement in the AP poll??? Not even Top 20... that is straight disrespect! This team needs to know that.

Point blank, this team has enough talent to overcome Rosier's shortcomings.

Now we don't have the cocoon that Alabama, Clemson, or UGA has, YET!, but we had enough talent not to let QB play be the deciding factor in the LSU game.

Brandon Wimbush's stats are worse than Rosier's, and ND's 3-0 & ranked #8!!!

Posted by: CaneRock | September 16, 2018 at 12:54 PM

CaneRock
Stats for the QB of the #8 team in the Country:

42-76/55.3/7.8 YPC/1 TD/4 INTs.

1 TD...let that sink in.

And we have more talent than ND...no excuses.

Now I already told you about all that making sense stuff.

Don’t hardly nobody give a damn bout making sense, especially if they paid to coach Miami Hurricanes football.

She told me it’s Washington State.

Silly me thinking a woman could keep her story straight!

So you don't want to get the backup QB ready? Ok... so stop complaining about Rosier then... deal

Hey Tom,
Next year I will be living in Satellite Beach. Maybe I can fly from Melbourne to a game. Fort Lauderdale or Miami airport? Or I can take a bus to the hotel. Just thinking ahead.
So funny, when I was going through my Canes stuff, I came across 6 intertwines Canes necklaces, with a large IBIS hanging from the bottom.
I GUESS I WAS THE ORIGINATOR OF THE TURNOVER CHAIN!! always AHEAD OF THE TIMES!!

Cool wrinkle, Solar. UCLA was in their "What the Hell??? Defense.

Hope Gorilla Monsoon didn't pay a visit to your neighborhood. Drove up 75 on Saturday past Calhoun and Dahlonega. Didn't see a lick of rain.

solarcane

Skool,
we only got a little rain today very fortunate compared to the Carolinas
We were down in Lawrenceville tonight, just a drizzle.

If Rosey is the ACC offensive player of the week what is the response on here?

1. Take the bus to the hotel and we will take you from the hotel to the game. Talk to Terrance. He is the MASTER of the cheap bus ticket!

I will accept it AND appreciate it.

Nobody here (I don't think?) hates the poor guy, we just want (need?) to see him play better, that's all.

As we like to say around here: "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while."

Bc and duke too soup

Me too. Their coaching staff usually produces a rock solid D, year in and year out.

BC, VT, and LSU were and will be our 3 toughest Games this Season. Well the LSU Game is behind us. We got to win the BC and VT Games especially VT Game or we won't get back to Charlotte this year for ACC Championship Game. Go Canes!

raizecane

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought our Canes had lost based on reading the blog :-.

Missed the game on Saturday. Was at New Smyrna beach and watching waves I have not seen in a very long time. Compliments of Florence

Terrance Sullivan

LOL if we would have lost we would of had 3 times the amount of comments. Instead of 333 comments it would have been 1000 comments.

solarcane

Terrence great to blog with you again. I think we will be sky high for VT and play well, we have older guys that know VTs dna

Jones from Duke is hitting 74 percent of his passes at 10 yds a pop.The way our d backs forget guys I can see us going in and sleep walk until we have to raise hell the second half

BC is going to be in kill mode against us, we will have to play our best game against them I think

Terrance Sullivan

Its great to blog again with U again Solar as well. It should be a interesting season.

Go Canes!!

Interesting stat from Gould:

Toledo ran 9 plays in the 4th quarter and they averaged -2.5 yards per play and the longest gain was 1 yard and all those numbers are kinda insane to me.

Agreed. I also agree with Solar that the Canes will be ready for VT. VT's formula for winning is typically turnovers and special teams. Without big plays in both those areas, VT tends to struggle against the Canes. If the Canes can minimize turnovers and penalties, IMHO, VT will have a very hard time beating the Canes.

Duke's QBs put up some impressive numbers. I like Cutcliff and I hope Duke is undefeated when they come to visit the Hard Rock. The Canes should take care of business at home.

Amazing adjustments. I thought the Canes really missed Jaquan when he went down with the injury, but that fourth quarter by the Canes defense was an amazing clinic in defense. Manny Diaz and the players made the adjustments, and with the deficit, Toledo became one-dimensional. I hope that the Toledo fourth quarter becomes a Canes defensive trend, rather than the exception.

raizecane

I cant believe we are actually concerned about BC.....

BigWindyCane1

Speaking of defense, IMO, the creation of the "striker" position has been a great concept. Finley played well. I was curious to see that Zach McCloud didn't play at all against Toledo? Or at least he didn't record any tackles.

Again, Willis is playing himself into a very high NFL draft pick. Glad to see that CMR and this staff was patient with him, and did not give up on him. Willis has worked hard and rewarded their trust. Through the first three games of the season, Willis has played better than any Canes DT in this decade.

Bethel is playing decent (zero tackles against Toledo), but I wonder if Ford and Silvera will get more playing time soon.

BC is not so tough on the road (except, of course, on the Friday after Thanksgiving).

However, BC is always tough to beat at home.

Funny, Im way more worried about FSU than BC. Besides that, losing the BC would terrible, but losing to this FSU would be catastrophic. FSU always plays us tough, any year, never a gimme.

Big Windy
I didnt know Carter didnt dress for the game when Jaquan went down. I worried for J but was looking forward to Carter getting a couple licks in. I started to get queasy for a second when neither one of them was out there

BigWindyCane1

Yes, Solar. I read that Carter was at a funeral. I have to respect the coaches for allowing him to do that.

Jaquan's injury was huge, especially with Carter out. Knowles is obviously not the same player at this point. Jaquan is a key leader to the defense. Not only does he lead the team in tackles, he is someone who gets the defense aligned properly. The defense was real shaky in the second quarter when he went out, and continued in the third quarter.

But the defense did make some adjustments in the fourth quarter. My favorite player on defense, Bandy, made a great interception, and Pinkney decided to come a play in the fourth quarter, and he made some big tackles for loss and sack. I hope it is something that carries over to the rest of the season for the Canes defense.

His Majesty The Dude on High

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | September 17, 2018 at 02:52 PM

I'm 100% serious. Winning 10 games again is goal number 1. Beating FSU comes directly after it. I know they are a dumpster fire, which all the more reason to beat them, I think they will come ready to play, but we will see, their fans have already forfeited the season, so maybe the football team has also. I mean, they were bad last year and we still needed some luck to beat them.

TruCane81

Underestimating a wounded FSU team could be a fatal mistake.

I know Georgia tech’s defense isn’t very good, but if they pass early and our qb struggles, that one could get dicey too.

With our poor fundamentals and inconsistent play, we can’t pencil an automatic win against ANYONE.

TruCane81

The reason so many are complaining even with the win is because it has been a long time since we have put together four quarters of consistent, fundamental football in all three phases and it WILL lead to more embarrassing losses if we don’t get it together.
