I realize that College football offenses and rules have changed, and Perry has a very small sample size, but Perry currently has a highest passer rating through his 4 games than any Canes QB over the last decade, perhaps even before then.

BigWindyCane

Canes lead the ACC in scoring and is second in points allowed.

Canes lead the ACC in total defense, points scored on defense, tackles for loss, third down conversion defense, and the Canes are also leading the nation or among the national leaders in these categories.

The Canes are among the ACC and national leaders in most defensive categories

Old Skool

For those of you on the West Coast of Florida, Publix is running a promotion on its Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sub. When you order it, ask if they can make it a Jameis Winston special and add crab legs.

BigWindyCane

Looking at the Canes and their upward movements in so many vital statistical categories, I see this Canes team has the potential to be a very special team, much better than they were last season when the Canes had their greatest season since 2002.

^^^
Agree but i still contend that it depends on richt letting the guys play
Offense - open it up (and I hope he does as he gets more comfortable with Perry);
Let’s see how we do with the noles of trailerhassee- we need to dominate and get Any bubble recruits!

Games to watch...

#12 WVU vs #25TTech (If tech wins, do they jump Miami?)
Pitt vs #13 UCF
#7 Stanford vs #8 Irish (Could one drop below Miami?)
#4 OSU vs #9 SanduskyU (Hopefully OSU beats them so bad they drop football.)
#20 BYU vs #11 UW

I see all of the higher ranked teams (favorites?) listed above as winners today. ND and PSU could win but I ain't rooting for either one. Now way, no how.

Posted by: 86Cane | September 29, 2018 at 11:40 AM

All higher ranked teams won except Stanford got beat by ND. Penn State coulda/shoulda won but you know how that goes. UCF dominated Pitt.

I just checked Dorsey’s QB ratings. I admit a different era for QBs, but Perry is currently 173, while Dorsey, Kaaya, Harris, Berlin, Rosier and MORRIS has QB ratings that were never really higher than the 150s, sometimes as low as the 130s.

This is worth monitoring to see if Perry’s QB ratings remain consistently high. If so, Perry could have a very special season.

The higher we climb, the less likely it is that teams lose for us. I feel like we should be confident in any game up to about Clemson.

perry post game..very intelligent kid

mi@mic@ne

the way perry throws hard in tight coverage might show that the game is slower to him than the majority of college qbs...a Marino awareness.

mi@mic@ne

lsu is showing that they are a very good team...if perry plays in that game it would have been a canes victory

That TD throw to Langham took A+ anticipation. He started his windup a couple of steps before he was open & the ball arrived just as Langham gained a half step.

mi@mic@me.

The pass to number 3 who was surrounded by 3 defenders hit him right in the hands. Our receivers have got to be ready. Perry is not Noseir. I hope it's because they used to getting Perry's darts.

After a dominant performance on national TV on Thursday night, it Looks like the Canes slipped one spot in the polls to #17.

It doesn’t matter. Hopefully, the lack of respect inspires these Canes to come out, stay humble and dominate their remaining ACC schedule. CMR and PERRY get more comfortable in the offense, it will be interesting to see if the Canes can continue to score 40 plus per game. I am confident that if the Canes stay healthy, they will dramatically improve on both sides of the ball. This team can be special.

The Canes’ destiny is still in their control. The Canes Just need to keep winning and everything will take care of itself. An 11-1 record, and a win in the ACC championship game will put them in the CFPlayoff.

BigWindyCane

For the first time in about two decades, I expect the Canes to open as a double digit favorite against their arch rival FSU.

MLAlumni1970

Can't wait for Saturday. If I wear all my Canes Apparel and doo-dads, I won't be able to sit or stand. But, a victory against FSU is worth everything! 10 lbs. of apparel and doo-dads, here we come.

raizecane

Why are FSU's helmets so butt ugly?

Posted by: toledocane | September 29, 2018 at 03:48 PM

Because we need something to complain about other than the Canes? Works for me!

They do have the best turnover celebration in college football....

I get criticism and nit picking. Just have it make sense.

The two players you specifically called out were among our highest rated guys last night:

According to Pro Football Focus, Joe Jackson had the highest grade of any defensive player in the country last week. Jackson really helped his NFL draft stock. If Jackson keeps playing like this, he will be a first round pick after this season.

By the way, my LOF Coach Simpson seems to be doing a great job so far. Any remaining concerns about Coach Kul leaving have been put to rest.

NOW THATS THE SPIRIT!!

AeroCane

BWC - joe is awesome but if you read the pff report it’s not very high on him. That’s great news for us as maybe he comes back for his Sr year. I really wish Rosseou didn’t get hurt - he was really coming along and added great depth

Agree 100% and wow, after that victory to move down a spot is just total disrespect and crazy.

BigWindyCane

The Canes opened as a 12 point favorite against FSU on BetOnline, and 13.5 point favorites on VegasInsider.

His Majesty The Dude on High

I got Miami 31, FSU 20.

PapaCane

see that shyt. we get no respect for a dominant performance. them pollsters moved us down a spot. see what they think of us for losing to LSU. just keep winning baby. thats the only way we will get our due respect. GO CANES

Herbieibis

We will be in the top 10 by game 7. Beating a happless UNC team won't help us move much. Osu and Clemson should have gotten beat along with Michigan but no killer instinct and in Penn. St. Case a really dumb play call.
We just got to beat these stiffs on our schedule and don't play down to the comp on the road, where we tend to take siestas.

solarcane

The ACC is so weak beating conference teams isn't going to move us up.
The voters aren't really disrespecting us,just no teams ahead of us played really poor.
We beat FSU and stay healthy we are OK
Some teams will get upset in the coming weeks I think we are 89% chance of winning against FSU acording to ESPN
We need LSU to get to 2

Go Canes!!

Don’t care about rankings right now, we’re in exactly the same place we’d were last year.

Win out against a schedule where we’ll be favored in every game and we’ll be in Charlotte with a chance to be in the final four.

AeroCane

51-24
Good guys

nemo2002

We got fat on cupcakes,
But now FSU is coming to town.
And FSU is hungry!
If we win, we may move up a notch in the rankings.
If we lose, we may drop out of the rankings.
This is a MUST WIN game for the Noles - and a MUST WIN game for the Canes too (especially because our next three games on on the road).
Forget the point spread - ignore the win-lost records - this is MIAMI and FSU. And for both teams, a lot is riding on the outcome of this game.
Go Canes!

Herbieibis

Yeah Nemo, it ain't like FSU hasn't got any talent. They've out recruited us over the years and are doing so this year BUT that being said they are a member of doing the least with the most club.

It's time for Shaq and Pickney to step up and a be a wrecking crew at LB. 3 year starters shouldn't be some timers. They should be moppi g up everything. If they ever get to that point, this DEE will be awesome.

WWIN

When will Canes fans learn...

Some of our juniors will go to the nfl regardless of if they have a good season or not! So just because player x isn't have a good year or gets advised to stay in school don't expect it

86Cane

a Marino awareness.

I agree, but a year of learning, gaining strength and conditioning and a redshirt will not hurt.

Those escalator rides have made him too happy lately! I'm beginning to worry.

thirstybuzzardcane

The only thing that worries me about FSU is their DE against our OTs. I don't think we have the foot speed to handle them.

I tried, but I fell off the wagon and am back on the Robitussin extra strength, extended relief. A little Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide ain't that bad, is it? If you mix it with Red Bull it actually tastes pretty good! LOL

His Majesty The Dude on High

Thats a good pick 86. I will that one after ours. I want VT to win that one bad. Miami 31, FSU 20.

thirstybuzzardcane

There is no way FSU score more than 10 points. This will be the hardest defense they'll face all year!

thirstybuzzardcane

I'm expecting Richards and Johnson will be back?

Cam Akers Feb 2018

Akers simply told him, "No. 1, a championship. No. 2, rush for 2,000 yards."

Must be planning on quite a second half of the season

Terrance Sullivan

34 Miami 20 FSU.
