The Miami Hurricanes moved up one spot in each major poll Sunday, checking in at No. 21 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll.
The Hurricanes, who routed Savannah State 77-0 at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night, were ranked No. 22 by the AP and No. 21 in the coaches' poll last week after losing badly to LSU at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
Sophomore defensive lineman Jon Garvin, who delivered an eight-tackle performance, and freshman tight end Brevin Jordan, who totaled career-best marks in catches (seven), receiving yards (52) and touchdowns (two), were among Miami's top performers against the Tigers.
Miami's position of No. 21 in the AP Top 25 marked the 20th straight appearance in the poll, extending the sixth-longest streak in program history. Miami's 20th consecutive position in the AP poll represent the 10th-longest active streak in the country.
The Miami Hurricanes continue their schedule on Saturday, Sept. 15 with a trip to Toledo, Ohio for a match up against the Rockets (1-0).
Kickoff for the match up, set for broadcast on ESPN2, 560 WQAM and 990 AM ESPN Deportes is set for 12 p.m. ET.
I know The Herb knows wats up.
Remember I was the one that talked Tom into starting this thing, I know how pissed some of the bike rack bs gets him. I guess he just doesn't say it anymore, I dont read it as much as I used too so maybe he just said fkit
Ive met a lot of wonderful folks on here, even had some stay at my place. There is so much good stuff in life, I just never feel the need to call someone names because they dont agree with me,
OK maybe I was a little tough on Kyle Wright but Jesus Christ he could make Mother Teresa want to shoot him in the head. Go Canes!

Why I think Perry should be the starter by midseason.
Look at Rosier's 2 TD throws. 1) a jump ball to Mallory. 2) Thomas runs away from the D, although Rosier finally hit him in stride.
Perry's. 1) A sharp, accurate, almost effortless throw to Cager in the redzone. 2) A throw Malik cannot make to Jordan. Backing up, with great velocity and accuracy, dropped right over the D. 3) Pass over the OL down to Jordan where only he could get it.
Perry makes throws Rosier simply cant. Yes he needs to clean up his mistakes, but I dont think those mistakes will hurt us so bad because of all of the good. Whereas Rosier may have more understanding but is so terrible at times, there is no good to speak of and the team gets lost in his mediocrity.

Only one person destroys this place anymore with psychotic, unhinged attacks.
Aside from that I'm 100% sure even the people who vehemntly disagree here would have eachother's backs if anything truly important really occurred.

Completely agree.
The perfect place to do it imo is UNC at home. Even though we struggled there last season, we will have a loud, rowdy Thursday night crowd here to get the team hyped and they are truly awful.

ere is another trend that I hope continues this season:
2017 | 2018
--------------------------------
3d Down Conv. 28% | 46%
Red Zone TD% 58% | 81%
Its only two games, but two critical areas that needed significant improvement on offense trending in the right direction. If this continues, the Canes can have a great season.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | September 10, 2018 at 03:13 PM
season:
Def. 2017 | 2018
--------------------------------
Opp. 3d Down Conv. 40% | 15%
Opp. Red Zone TD% 54% | 20%
This is another trend that represents a dramatic improvement from last season that I hope continues for the remainder of the season. If this also continues (along with winning the turnover battles), the Canes will be back in the ACC Championship game, and the Canes will have a shot at winning.

I agree. Let's see how CMR handles this QB situation going forward. It was encouraging to see CMR insert Perry in the game against Savannah St. very early. Perry got has many reps as Rosier in that game.
Hopefully, the Canes will play well against Toledo, FIU and UNC. If they are blowouts, Perry may get some more quality reps. Of course, if Rosier plays poorly like he did at Pitt, I would expect to see more of Perry anyway. Its Rosier's job to lose, but CMR should not lose more games because he is worried about his backup QB situation.

Let the kid get his shot. Tell him where to throw the ball and let him sling it.
I still wanna see more of those creative formations and motion.
That easy touchdown Malik scored is who we really are. I expected ALOT of that this season, but no dice.
Hopes and dreams,brother.

If we go out and score 17 on 3 consecutive drives, then Perry has a turnover, we'll still be way better off than with Rosier with maybe 3 points on 3 drives and 3 punts and now with a tired defense.

Per InsidetheU
• The goal for the Miami quarterbacks is to get a 65 percent accuracy grade each week. Accuracy are balls that are thrown on the money and should be completions whether or not they are caught.
• RB Lorenzo Lingard has earned more playing time moving forward after an impressive showing against Savannah State in which he rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. “I had seen that in practice,” offensive coordinator and running backs coach Thomas Brown said. “I just wanted him to continue to improve with the rest of his game. He is going to play more. He has earned more reps. The more he takes to coaching, the more he will play.” Lingard was not wearing a scout team jersey during today’s practice. Brown also noted that the Savannah State performance put a pep in Lingard’s step for Tuesday’s practice.
• RB DeeJay Dallas on the progress he has seen from Lingard since he arrived at Miami in January: “From the beginning he was shaky with not knowing the plays and not knowing what to do. Now he is turning into a true star.”

Man it is in their DNA. Canes royalty:
Navarro: Richt on Al Blades Jr. being a captain on special teams for the Toledo game: "Al’s come in and competed extremely well. He does a super job on every team. Coach Hartley can appreciate it when a true freshman can come in and understand the importance of that side of the game."
Posted by: Go Canes!! | September 11, 2018 at 03:44 PM
More Richt on Al Blades Jr.: "He has the skill set and demeanor to take care of business. We’re not afraid to honor a true freshman during the season. If he keeps it up, he may become a permanent captain by the end of the season."
