We came, we saw, we got massacred Texas Chain Saw style.
That was the story of your Miami Hurricanes visit to AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas on the Sunday before Labor Day.
The stadium was as beautiful as advertised but the LSU Tigers mauled Miami and won convincingly 33-17 in a totally lopsided affair.
The game was basically close until the end of the first quarter but was never in doubt beyond that as Miami simply could not score.
Blood and guts were everywhere and it was not pretty as the Hurricanes got sawed up big time in "The Big D".
The same old UM offense under Mark Richt showed up and stunk up the place in another hapless and pitiful performance. They had no clue what to do or how to do it and looked lost and confused. Every phase of the offense was poor.
The Miami defense also did not hold up their end of the bargain as they got beat physically and mentally over and over again. The vaunted and often feared turnover chain never made it out of its carrying case, and as a result, the momentum never swung for the Hurricanes.
It was a horrible game and a horrible way to waste a couple thousand dollars on supporting what has now appears to be a bad investment.
Based on this performance, here is what we think about the current situation and what should happen now:
- Richt is an average head coach and has not lived up to the hype (his team was completely unprepared).
- Richt is a below average offensive coordinator (his play calling and the offensive execution were awful).
- His son should be fired at QB coach tomorrow. He hasn't done anything for anybody.
- QB Malik Rosier is not good. He is inaccurate and inconsistent at best and has regressed since last year.
- The offensive line is itself offensive and their coach should be fired yesterday. Weakest link on the team.
- The Canes should go for it on fourth down and whatever because their punter and special teams are embarrassing.
- The defense needs to go back to basics and stop telegraphing their blitzes before the snap.
- The fans, cheerleaders and band are the best part of this "team".
This nonsense needs to stop and stop now. Otherwise this season will be lost, and this team will regress once again.
And that is simply too much to take for the Hurricane faithful who spend BIG money to celebrate their team, not to suffer humiliation.

I don't mind the long throws, I just have a problem with the long throws to the wrong people. The 2 long throws He missed to Cager, Cager got absolutely no seperation. And IMHO, consistently running Thomas across the field & on those lil' quick outs is wasting His ability.
Thomas's speed converts Cover-2's into Cover-3's, and opens everything up underneath.

I hope "Smokey and the Bandit" will be playing on TV. for old times sake. Burt Reynolds was the best, in that he was talented, quirky, handsome, and represented all of us back then who prided on being independent, opinionated, free spirits etc.
I think he was a republican, politically, which doesn't matter. It just didn't fit with his character. He was a hell of a man and I will miss him, as a man, an actor, an American, AND AS THE BANDIT!
The most important thing now are the CANES. Same old, same old. I get so hyped when the season begins. and get deflated so soon in the season. Give me some HOPE, all my CANESPACERS.

So does AR82 with a good QB, which in turn could find JT4 with a bunch of space to run underneath. Personally, with the sh*t QB play we have, I think it would be smart to move AR82 closer to the QB, move the big WRs (LC18, DL81, EN83 & BT7) outside so that if the safeties caution to the speedy playmakers, then we get a 1 vs 1 jump ball, and hope our guys come down with it. Idk, I'm just trying to make lemonade out of this Awfense.

When and how many reps the freshmen get going forward will determine my feelings about what’s going on.

Yep!
Most importantly qb.
But I really don’t think it matters until we get a real OC!
I also agree that the OL coach and ST coaches suck and need to be fired!

Caught myself humming that damn song Tuesday morning.
Then I thought, what if the 80's, 90's and early 2000's were the aberration and the Canes were doomed to sink back into the mediocrity of the first 57 years of the program for the next half century.

Why schedule a team Like Savanna St? What a joke.
By the way somebody mentioned some 4 and 5 stars coming to save us hasn't paid to much attention to the verbal for 2019. A bunch of 3's and about 6- 4s.
We need some serious star power at Lb. Do we have one true 4 star on the roster? Quarterman maybe on some sites.
Rosier should be playing for a team like Nichlas ST. Not starting at Miami and if he is what we have to show for the last 5 years of recruiting we are in serious trouble. Playing a team like this will only give u a false sense of security. This would be a good game to let nothing but the freshman and sophomore play and no one else.

What is the line for Saturday's game?? Kind of hesitant to ask. Tell me, we are NOT going to lose this game. What are you experts thinking about the Toledo game, the one that I am going to. Richard has already told me that we are out of there at half time, if we are way ahead. I told him don't worry, we won't be ahead by much at half-time.
Anybody going to the U vs. Toledo game??

Because it a guaranteed win and 6 wins gets you a bowl game. As long as Div 1 teams can count 1 crap team as a victory, they will schedule the games.

KY Cane...no, the abberation is now, where assistant coaches in some cases make more than Al Golden’s salary. Where schools spent hundreds of millions of dollars not on stadiums, but on athletic facilities for the exclusive use of players. Miami chose not to compete when it came to this arms race and fell into mediocrity because of it - and yes there will be the argument that Miami was frugal in its national championship years - but there is a difference between being frugal and being cheap.

Today's debate topic
Tomorrow's game
Preseason stuck in the middle of the season or a scrimmage?
Or perhaps do we need a need a new term. Since there's a "working vacation" why not a "working bye".
Or since since Savannah State is a size AA with little fan support. Why not call it a "training bro"?

That game came on at 2:30am where I was and I walked to a bar to watch it. Only to have the bar close early. I watched it on FB partial streams. All I could feel was pity for the people who spent their money to travel to see that. I still love the team but they are becoming the pathetic family member.
Posted by: HillviewCane | September 07, 2018 at 08:16 AM
To use a wrestling equivalent...Savannah State is The Brooklyn Brawler. And Miami would be Brock Lesnar.
Anything less than 77 points is a fAilure.
Posted by: TonyCane | September 07, 2018 at 08:26 AM
Miami needed to play a clean game against LSU, it did not.
They have the tools to succeed this year, but they must figure out how to play away from S. Florida.
Losing @ Pitt last year, this past game against LSU are making the games @BC and @V-tech look like probable L's.
Hooray 9-3?

Posted by: CoCane | September 07, 2018 at 05:50 PM
I was one of the fools that picked Rosier because I believed what Richt said about Rosier improving, guess I won't fall for that line again.
I didn't waste as munch $$'s as most did going to the game because I had to travel their any way.
A group of about fifteen Cane fans that invited Millie and I to set with them at their tailgate party before the game spent about $10k shipping their van loaded with food, drinks, tickets and etc. were lived after the game. I was never so disappointed in a Canes game as I was it this game.
I am sick of Rosier and believe Mark Richt should start the best back up we have no matter who it is while we have a weak schedule for the next few games. That's it period. I believe in "what do we have to gain and what do we have to loose. We may have a lot more to gain then we have to loose. This is the time to just do it.
Oh, one more thing, get a offensive coordinator that knows what he is doing.
I will be 78 years old Sept, 30 and would like to see us win a championship before I go to Heaven.
Posted by: Harry Miller | September 07, 2018 at 06:41 PM
Disappointed in what?
You still don't get it... I been telling you that the you should be mad at CMR about the QB position not Rosier

I hope to run into a few of you all tomorrow at Hard Rock. I'm in the green lot and I'm gonna try to be there in time for the Cane Walk.
I think the two backups should each get to play a quarter tomorrow, but I'm not sure they'll fare much better against better teams if there isn't a seismic change on the o-line. Anywho I need to see the Canes win in person to shake some of the funk off. Talk to you all later!
Go 'canes!

So now that we’ve seen Searels’ body of work so far, should CMR have kept Kehoe?
Posted by: KYcane | September 07, 2018 at 08:54 PM
Ok, one of the reasons I do not write much on this blog is I do not like to argue with people you do.
I am not mad at Rosier. I don't get mad at people I get disappointed in them not mad. How could I be mad at someone who gives all he has in him to win.
Rosier gives his all, he just doesn't have the accuracy that he needs, it's a shame he has everything else, desire, toughness, mental attitude, he does every thing he is asked to do.
He could do better if he was given the right plays to call by someone who knew what they were doing and get the best out of what he has to offer. He would then be much better off. But he doesn't and that's that. I love the guy for how hard he tries.
Now, I am really disappointed CMR for not realizing he is not a good offensive coordinator or play caller. He should give it up.
This is my opinion and yes I do get it. This will be my last comment on this.
Posted by: Harry Miller | September 07, 2018 at 08:55 PM
66-3 Canes.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | September 07, 2018 at 09:13 PM
Harry, we pretty much squandered ANY shot to make Malik servicable.
It’s time to move on.
The reason so many of us are way more pissed with Richt than Malik can be found in this one of many examples.......
Remember when Malik walked into the end zone basically untouched? We were in empty set with Travis in slot. We put Travis in motion. The motion confused the defense and got several defenders moving with Travis. We faked the handoff and Malik scored easy when we have struggled like HELL in short yardage and goal line.
Now imagine that same concept, but instead of empty set put Travis in the backfield and replace him with Dj in the slot. You get the same pressure and uncertainty on the defense but now you have the option for a pitch or handoff to Travis. Then, you can build play action passes off the same play. This is why spread is so deadly. There are too many possibilities to cover and with one mistake, BIG PLAY! This is how you make a bunch of plays look like one play, putting immense pressure of the defense.
That play was creative offense at it’s finest and beautiful to watch. Why we gotta be down 30 points to run it? Now look at the lazy vanilla offense we been running and struggling with. There are many, many more ways too fool the defense and make them uncomfortable while playing to Malik’s strength (or lesser weakness).
But Richt ain’t doing it and it makes him look lazy, complacent, and unaware.
This is why I am so hard on Richt personally. He has the ability to get more from whoever is under center. We know because HE HAS DONE IT. But instead, he force feeds concepts that don’t match the teams skills.
Good offensive coordinators take what the defense give them. Great ones dictate to the defense. We don’t do much of either.

😂😂😂
I still believe our QB problem is in this order...
1. CMR
2. CMRJR
3. Rosier
Rosier was better 3yrs ago!
But at this point he can't afford to miss those passes he missed vs lsu... we have too many options now, too many players need to touch the ball. He'll get another chance tho starting Saturday
Good Luck with that. Rosier is pure sanitation and so it CMR for playing him. Might as well ride with the freshmen if this is what we get with Rosier. DUH
