He needs to change his on the field attitude

mi@mic@ne

The relationship between the football program and the administration has always had friction. The administration is like the big guy on the block who is always testing your right to control your own house. If the big guy tells you that you must change the color of your house and you are a person who complies then you will change it. I think Butch was the guy who told the big guy..its my house and Im gonna keep the color that I pick...thats why the recruits like to play for him.

No he's wrong for thinking Butch did us wrong for leaving... UM was trying to give him the short end of the stick!

Butch did Miami dirty or Miami did Butch dirty.
It doesn't matter, they broke up.

While watching my sons football practice last night, they were walking thru plays on offense at half speed to make sure everyone knew where to go and who to block. They ran the same play at least a half dozen times to make sure they executed it perfectly. They proceed to go full speed against the defense. But now the defense knew what the play was, having watched it for 10 minutes and when they ran it live in scrimmage, the defense blew it up every dam time.

It reminded me of Miami and the shotgun draw / molasses hand off.

The play can be a well designed play, executed to perfection, but if the defense knows it is coming, its not going to work. Richt keeps saying he believes in the plays he is calling. The problem is the defense believes in the plays too and knows what he is calling.

BINGO!

I have been a part of these type of boneheaded practice schemes.

They completely destroy an offense psychologically.

Duke has averaged 40,935 fans in attendance over their three road games I can find figures on easily other than their last one. That one had about half that figure at best from what I saw and heard on the broadcast as I watched it Saturday.

UM will put at a minimum around ten thousand more through the stands I bet in mid 70's degree weather unless it's raining and even then the fans are covered from that anyway. Try again . . .

But I'm sick of b*tching about MR and his stupid Awfense. Just beat Duke and put a stop to the embarrassment. I feel like my kid did something stupid at school, after having just done something stupid at school. I'm about to send this team away for the summer. Thats another thing to think about, the offseason is forever long and is approaching soon. This team needs to string together some wins, and win a sh*tty bowl game real bad. Beyond frustrating... beyond...

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: Go Canes!! | October 30, 2018 at 11:35 AM

Most absolutely have. MR couldnt afford to have the year he's having. Duke will have poor attendance, and Rosier and the O will be booed by most of the few fans that are there. No one thinks Rosier ahould be starting over Perry but MR.

Sure they can, they're only about eight points better than Duke at home, Noel. Bring the F game again while Duke plays up for their bowl game trip to start November and it can all go down the drain, even faster, no doubt.

But Duke is substantially out gunned on both sides of the line of scrimmage, so it will be very difficult for them to stay close in the fourth quarter, even if the temperature at night isn't as muggy as it would have been for a noon kickoff. Still just what the doctor ordered to fix what ails UM football however!

80's Canes

Tell you what Matt Campbell from Iowa State is a budding star in the coaching ranks. Forget his overall record at Iowa State which is a very tough place to win and is dragged down by his first season but this guy is the goods. He may even be on Ohio State's radar if Urban Meyer leaves after this season. If the administration at Miami had any courage (ie balls) they would get together and buyout Richt and hire Matt Campbell. The guy is a great offensive mind and a top recruiter. I know its not happening because we don't have an administration with that type of vision and gumption but just a thought.

Every passing day without action makes the situation more toxic.

Have read a few times Allison's dad didn't want him in an offense where the QB running the ball was an option.

Think the transfer was more Allison not wanting to be a dual threat kind of QB

We're just going have here and suck on a raw egg and do the bend over George and let Richt stick his boring brand of football up our ass and ain't a dam thing we can do about it and that's the dam of it all. This sucks to the highest. I'm more worried now how this this display of bordom is and will affect our recruiting class. We need help on both lines. We need tackles, like plural. I'm not talking about no projects either. Apparently we must be loaded with projects on the O-Line because, either they're stupid lazy and weak or the coach just plain sucks at developing players or it's somewhere in between.
I guess it should of been an indication of how things were going to go by how our recruiting class was ranked.
Getting to the top is tough but staying there is tougher and u sure ain't staying there we u are number 8 in recruiting and you are hoveri g around 18 to 20 and the class is loaded with 3 star players to date.

The weird thing is Richt seems to want to perfect something that's outdated and obvious: burlesque, vaudeville, the best hits from Tony Orlando and Dawn. No one cares.
Posted by: Old Skool | October 29, 2018 at 06:59 AM

Listening to Richt... He has NO plans to change anything. It's NOT him, his coaches, or his offensive schemes. It's poor execution by the players.

End of story. He is not changing ANYTHING. NOT HIS FAULT... players not executing...

Gimme a break... We're going NOWHERE fast with THIS guy at the helm. Gonna continue his SH!Tshow calls that EVERYONE in the stadium knows are coming, and continue to blame the players when they don't work.

Granted, the players often DO SUCK and are to blame for many of the plays breaking down. But NO MOTION in our backfield to get our athletes the ball with some momentum and disguise is on HIM.

Not RIcht's fault in Richt's mind... Therefore NO CHANGES will be coming.

If Perry isnt mature enough, why did we let Jack Allison bail? Im so sick if the excuses for the one constant fact, MR is a terrible OC (maybe the worst OC in CF), and right now a below marginal HC.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: Gin & Tonic | October 29, 2018 at 06:07 PM

I wanted him over Richt, but that ship has long sailed. Now we need to pony up and bring in excellent assistants to drag MR kicking and screaming into implementing a modern day offense. Problem is that Blake James is not the man for the job, he knows less than anyone on this blog about football, no seriously.

P.S. the other obsession that needs to die is inexperienced former players as coaches.

CoCane

Sorry TonyCane...

5-7 is more possible then you think. My gut tells me 7-5

TonyCane

ML Alumni, I would be stunned if we did not get to six wins. Stunned. That would be a catastrophe of epic proportions. We should beat Duke and Pittsburgh. The defense should contain Georgia Tech. We (very) likely drop to VA Tech in a blowout, but 8 wins is probably our floor.

TonyCane

That’s possible, 1st. Miami did something we never thought was possible when they upped the budget with Richt. I remember the laments that there was no way that Golden would be released, simply because of the cost. Or that Miami was perfectly content with 7-9 win seasons.

A string of 6-8 win seasons won’t cut it. This team - and earlier editi Ne under Golden, albeit with far less depth - has at minimum a third higher quotient of talent than anyone else in the Coastal. And in some cases, it’s closer to 5x greater. We have two four star quarterbacks on the roster. One of them is fully a Richt recruit. It’s time to roll with one of them.

The 1st Horseman

Remember that Miami is spending unprecedented money on Richt and his hand picked staff. That means they want to win. He is going to be held to a different standard than other HC's who were given a shoestring budget. They will not tolerate Golden outcomes while paying him $4m+ a year. His seat will heat up faster than most think. More money means quicker scrutiny.

CaneRock

If Perry was suspended, I don't think it was Richt's call...our compliance dept. is worse than the NCAA.

No wonder the top dawgs don't want to come here...might as well try to steal recruits from the Stanfords, Northwesterns, & Vandys of the world.

Coach will never be successful if he runs an offense that does not magnify the qbs strengths. A few wrong decisions from the coach and it all starts degenerating. When they lose confidence and the coach blames the players then he is on his way out. Recruiting ..organization and knowing how to motivate players is more important than all of the preparation that goes into getting to that high level...thats where we are failing

mi@mic@ne

If you look at the good spread teams they do a lot of motion. The guy who is running the motion gets a pitch or a hand off...he is almost at full speed...we have a lot of speed but we never take advantage of it with that motion play...before clemson got all 5 stars ..most of their running plays involved the guy in motion.

Perry was very immature for posting that photo on IG, but who isn't immature at 19-20 years old. Still, Perry wants to be the QB and leader of UM, not FSU (props to Winston), so he needs to grow up and understand what it takes. Someone needs to mentor him. I remember visiting UM back in the Butch days, and those players were not models of behavior. They were immature and cocky, but for the most part, they stayed out of the news.

It also is upsetting to see Perry celebrate when he still hasn't accomplished anything by Hurricanes standards. Perry has to have the maturity to understand that at UM, you are not successful until you are a Maxwell Award or Heisman finalist and national champion, and the crowd will love you today and get upset with you tomorrow if you don't perform. That is the standard.

That said, I think Perry, Williams or Weldon should be given a chance to lead this team before the end of the season. It is time to start building toward the future.

mi@mic@ne

In my observation of the offense , i am like ..this guy coaches the plays to fail.

mi@mic@ne

I went to a high school football game 20 years ago... the running backs were lined up very close to the qb who was under center. If they ran a sweep the backs would be just outside the tight end...the offense was set up to bust the running back into the hole very quickly or pitch to the back so the he got to the open space quickly...they were very successful...but you look at our team..we run the option and ride the back into the hole ...we are like 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage with a group who cannot even block the dummies. The whole timing of the offense seems to be slow and geared toward big slow offensive lines...richt tried to change the passes to short crosses or bubble screens but the Rosier was not accurate and the receivers did not catch the ball. There was enough space on those short passes for success but the timing was off.

A few excerpts from the above quoted comment:

1. But I have to admit that I am not in that locker room nor am I hearing things like I used to years ago cause I no longer hang out in Miami in certain places like I did a few years back when I was a young and single playa, lol.

2. I know we all feel like we have a right to know everything that’s going on with the team, but guess what? We really don’t. A coach has the right to keep some things to himself, especially if revealing too much too soon would be detrimental to the school and even to the player.

3. The more I think about it the more I am starting to believe that there’s definitely a lot more to all of this than we are seeing.

4. If not Richt is really really dumb and stubborn and a really bad football coach.

**************************************

1. You don't have to be in the lockeroom or on the street to "hear things" about the team. All the gossip and drama is irrelevant. The proof is in the pudding. What you see on the field is what you get. And it ain;t good.

2. I could care less about what we know or don't know about the team, a certain player or what goes on in the coaches room. What we do know is that the product on the field is very poor and we just lost to two un-ranked, out-matched ACC teams that we should have beat.

3. Save the drama for your momma.

4. Maybe, not sure yet, but let's hope not.

mi@mic@ne

The advantage of being part of making decisions about the direction to take in challenging your kids is that in the co op you can pick the courses that best fit you kids gifts. We were successful in motivating he kids in our relating to them in order to tap into their interest. We joined a community theater in order to help some of the kids learn social skills. I had so much fun.

Thanks raizecane....

We lived in Clermont when we had the group of kids. It was a small town just south of MD. I was so upset when my kids got too old and we had to give up the leadership to the parents with young kids. But the co op is still going strong since we left 10 years ago...my wife along with the other wives developed a core group of like minded parents. The unity of our group was special. Those memories give me pleasure this day.

I have described to some of the guys on the space my views of raising my children. I believe most of the problems in this world are developed in young impressionable children who pick the wrong crowd to hang out with. But at the same time they need the social interaction with other kids in order to develop their social skills. So I raised my two children in a home school co op. My wife was the president of a group of women who planned events, graduations, and volunteering for work days in our community. I look at 100 kids who were part of our group and am very proud of the work we accomplished. We provided the security and structure that gave the kids the tools to succeed in this very dangerous world.

Here is a better concept run 5 plays and give the reigns over to Jarren Williams master those 5 plays and throw in the wildcat with Deejay and sparingly play Malik like 2 series a game. The 3rd series of each half. Other than that Have Jarren Williams be the guy and see what you got because Malik or N'Kosi are not the guys and we need to find out what Jarren can do.

If I had to wager, I'd say the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

CMR has overreacted to his lack of trust in his QBs by being way, way, way too conservative. Can understand it to a certain extent cause every time Perry drops back I hold my breath and expect something bad to happen. But he's gone so far overboard we have no chance of winning unless Perry and the o-line completely overachieve for 60 minutes, which they can't.

So he's basically setting his offense up for failure every single time they take the field.

On the flipside, Perry has probably given him a ton of headaches by being very immature and won't, hasn't, can't or will never grasp the seriousness of his job.

Either way we're screwed unless we find someone who can get the most out his team when he doesn't have the exact tools he needs to succeed.

Right now he's getting a gigantic F for that part of his job.

As a father of 21 and 25 year old girls, who is currently helping raise a 13 year old girl and 8 year old boy who loves video games, I give you a standing ovation for pulling off the no TV-Cell phone at dinner feat.

Someone else's thoughts -

Maybe he’s not playing Perry because of the off the field crap with the video of Perry sitting in a car with wads of cash on his lap. Maybe he’s not announcing it because he’s trying to save The U more bad publicity, especially if the investigation winds up clearing the school. And maybe his vanilla play calling is the type of play calling that gives Rosier the best chance of not screwing up. Ok, I admit that’s a whole lot of Maybes. But at this point one thing is for sure and that’s that Richt ain’t going nowhere for now. So Maybe all of us, MYSELF INCLUDED, should put away the torches and pitchforks and give him the benefit of the doubt, at least until we see how all this plays out. Look, we were all very happy when Richt came here and until this year we were for the most part pleased with the team’s direction. Do we really want to go through ANOTHER coaching search and rebuilding process right now? I damn sure don’t. I have been as critical of Richt as anyone here; things have sucked pretty much from the LSU game on. But I have to admit that I am not in that locker room nor am I hearing things like I used to years ago cause I no longer hang out in Miami in certain places like I did a few years back when I was a young and single playa, lol. Until today I didn’t even hear about that Nkosi video; was it talked about much over here? If it was I missed it. But it’s obvious that Richt has soured on Perry for some reason, and if it’s because of off the field nonsense I can see why he didn’t broadcast it. I know we all feel like we have a right to know everything that’s going on with the team, but guess what? We really don’t. A coach has the right to keep some things to himself, especially if revealing too much too soon would be detrimental to the school and even to the player. The more I think about it the more I am starting to believe that there’s definitely a lot more to all of this than we are seeing. If not Richt is really really dumb and stubborn and a really bad football coach. The evidence might look like that is the case, but until this year nobody here felt that was true.

Funny thing.....even when both my kids were home until a few years ago, I made sure we all ate together and no TV was allowed....

the best hits from Tony Orlando and Dawn. No one cares.

When I was a wee lad on Sundays we would always have family dinner together and after dinner my Mom (God rest her soul) would always put on the Lawrence Welk show. You want to talk about classic old skool, there it is right there. I'd rather be forced to watch old reruns of that show than the Canes football games in 2018. That's all you need to know.

Thank God I bought new construction where they just planted the small oak trees and the limbs can't even think about holding me. Plus I prefer Home Depot. I like the orange color sign there.

OK, WE GET IT! YOU'RE THE KING AND WE ARE MEASLY PEASANTS... SHOW US THE WAY!!

Old Skool

Rosier equals mediocrity. Why watch it? At this point, I'm more interested in next year. The weird thing is Richt seems to want to perfect something that's outdated and obvious: burlesque, vaudeville, the best hits from Tony Orlando and Dawn. No one cares.
