Butch, in the past.
Kaaya in the past.
Talking about them or Shannon or Cooker are days gone way by.
Butch ain't coming, so let it rest. That was then, this is now.
This is a nightmare and the bad thing is we have to endure 4 or 5 more games of this crap.
Perry ain't yalls savior. He has a better arm and upside but he's a Jaboney Harris int. Waiting to be thrown.
Weldon is better but a dog house lover he is.
We need a motivator not a guy who looks like he hasn't slept in weeks.

TonyCane

Nothing lasts forever. This bad time...it too will eventually pass.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I just want professional people running our program. Is it too much to ask for a OC that is slightly better than okay? A QB coach that will actually have a career? Position coaches hired because of merit, not connections? I guess so. This team has me depressed.

solarcane

OSU toe to toe with Texas right now

TonyCane

Butch is almost 70 years old. By the time he could theoretically restock Miami to 2000 levels he would be ready to retire. We need someone like Tom Herman.

BigWindyCane

If Perry or Williams doesn’t start next week, then I will just have to content myself with a 7-5 or 6-6 record for this season, and a lower tier bowl to finish the season. Everyone can see that Rosier is limited as a QB, and the coaches who know a lot more about football than I do must see it.

Our coaches get out-coached every week. It is so evident, and the players must be very angry. Our coaches should be ashamed.

Mark Richt isnt getting fired, so its simply a futile brain exercise discussing who would replace him. I dont think its impossible, or that its a bad idea for Miami to look for his heir though. Also, Miami should take coaching decisions away from him. Clearly Blake James is not capable of doing that. The BoT should shuffle the management of the football team and appoint a Director of Football to help make decisions on staff, someone like Pete Garcia. We have until 2023 with Mark Richt, or unless he retires, we should hire a 40 something year old ace OC and allow him a certain stake in staff decisions going forward. It should be someone schooled in the spread offense, that has worked under proven coaches and has a history off success. Miami should compensate him very well and if he's successful, he could be named HCiW by the 2020 season, and more power could be shifted to him. Miami has to phase Richt out if he's unwilling to but Miami 1st.

solarcane

I wonder how my pal Beeri is doin?

DallasTX Cane

I maybe see some angry players on the D side. I don’t see any on the O. Every player ought to be ashamed. These are supposedly Power 5, D1, Miami freakin Hurricanes players. What do I see every week?... we get out-hustled, out-tackled, our 300lb OL couldn’t move an empty cardboard box on wheels. I see soft players and soft coaches. All the hand warmers, bench warmers, helmet warmers, etc. our players needed to deal with the “cold”?!?...in October?!? Soft. It’s a mindset. Players can’t control the (crappy) gameplan. They can control their effort and desire to kick someone’s ass when on the field tho.

CMR gotta find an OC. Gotta find a ST coach. Gotta find an OL. Players gotta find some anger, some fury. Lot of young players on this roster = lot of potential even if it suks now. Young players need leadership tho from someone...

Dude on a Pale Horse

Lane Kiffin might be just the kind of @sshole willing to take that kind of arrangement.

VA Cane

Well put Dude.
Clappy was promoted due to a great team of players...the greatest college team ever...pressuring the school...hard to argue..but never let kids make serious decisions. They liked Clappy, so that was it...they were winners big time. Clappy was fine OC...and average as HC nice but not good HC. Randy was a good DC, asshole as a person, not even close to a HC. AlPa sucked all around....awful choice. Enter Richt; another reach as he was proven to be average at best. Good man average coach.

I think it proves with the hiring of all 4 guys that this school does not have the capability to hire a real football coach. The board is ignorant, don't care who is on it, they do not know a damn thing about football and coaching. The AD is ignorant as well....several of them.
The proper step would have been to get Butch back asap; way too late to have got him when we took CMR, window was closed.
I cannot bear to think I have to watch this bad football for 5 more years. CMr is a good man, but a bad HC. He looks so disinterested I really think he just wanted to come to UM, make some $ and retire leaving it to his boy. I do not think he wants to win big time...he never really has.
I hate bad football, and this is bad football. I will support them by watching, and go to games close to me, but damn its bad football. I coach HS and college and the kids I coach are so fundamentally superior to CMRs approach to the game. I see it so clearly.
I just want to win. Watching the other games...we do not want to play them...FL or GA would beat us...TX or OSU, OK...hell Houston could beat us.....its down to horrible coaching. The D is better, but there are still issues there. The O and ST are horrible coaching jobs....those coaches should give every $ back....robbery. Starts up top at the board....they are ignorant and we feel the pain of stupid choices.

Herbieibis

I think Richt thought by bringing in some cheap coaches that would off set what they were paying him. Banda, Rumph, J. Richt, Brown, And Hartley, mostly all Green and u add Patke and we have a bunch of coaches in their 3 or 4th years. Learning on the job, should be in places like FAU or Georgia St. Not at the U!

So true Windy;
you really do not coach in the NFL...I really do not care for those jerks. Hard to watch it...those guys making $ and are sloppy make bad mistakes every play, winning does not really matter, and so many of the teams are so bad. Many of them play bad football.
In sandlot HS college you got to coach these kids embrace them drive them motivate them...I have been so lucky to do it at these levels. CMR seems like it really does not matter to him; that presser was so bad.
There is no excuse for not coaching with passion or loving your kids; I am 60 and the wife says I am a kid! My kids keep me young and I work them hard...but they want to work hard they want to win....we as adults and coaches have to give it our all.
we are not getting that. Yes they are kids and they make errors and mistakes. Yes we must get on them correct them and at times punish them. In the end you got to get out there with them and drive them. It can be done; we are not getting it done and it hurt me to see it.
You got to admire the Red Sox...18 inning loss...then down 4...they never quit they grind and they win. I love how they play as a team, and want to win.
I have said it often..."Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is the ONLY thing!"
Lombardi
The Board, CMR and staff need to drink deeply of this; only then can you teach the kids to do the same.
JMO

JCane

The players are extremely angry, and it is clear that this staff has lost at least many members of this team likely irretrievably. Watching the sideline while being at this game the above was obvious.

Go Canes!!

Not writing this to deflect from our issues, which are gigantic. But i just got back from a Halloween party where we were talking football and something interesting came up.

Incredible that the biggest football schools from the three most talent rich states are all pretty much average to downright terrible.

UM
UF
FSU
Texas
Texas A&M
USC
UCLA
Stanford

are a combined 10 games over .500.

Go Canes!!

Again, before anyone says I'm making excuses for us, I'm not. We are downright mediocre and woefully underachieving.

This week 9 of the Top 25 teams in the country lost to teams that were unranked going into Saturday.

Go Canes!!

So basically....everybody suck.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Never thought about that... that has to be unique in time. Bama is ruining every thing.

VA Cane

Nice observations GC....these states that produce so much talent cannot get them to stay and play that much....tells you something about the coaching culture and environment.
We are just an average team right now going nowhere big no time soon. We have to get better.

WWIN

Except uf doesn't suck

AeroCane

Agree with WWIN
UF doesn’t suck and they have a coach who actually gives a damn! Wait til he gets his qb in there. It’s sad but they are going to crush us next year unless we do something dramatic this off season or sooner

Go Canes!!

Gators are ok this year. They have a good win vs LSU

But they were in a dogfight against a crappy Vanderbilt team and won an Canes VS UVA type game against Mississippi State 13-6. in which they only scored one TD the whole game.

They could easily have our same record.

AeroCane

Go
Lol
But they won and don’t have our record; they have a new coach with someone else’s recruited qb and we have a 3rd year coach - no effing comparison
Stop already - we suck and will get worse with richt unless he is forced into releasing the reins to a real OC and gets a real ST coach and either demotes his son or fired him. It’s not going to happen so we are fucked!

Go Canes!!

Posted by: AeroCane | October 28, 2018 at 08:52 AM

What do you think we would do against vandy on the road and Mississippi state?

Who's schedule is harder? Who's suppose to be winning this year and who's not suppose to be winning? They should suck this year they have a whole new coaching staff... what's our excuse???

Gotcha. Agree!Yes exactly what the boosters/AD should have done in the first place. Add have Butch stay on in some other capacity - man can evaluate talent afterhis successor was groomed. FIU is 6-2 right now. And we're not.

mi@mic@ne

Coaching matters...you look at Texas, Nebraska, Georgia etc...all new coaching with very little time to recruit their players...the new coaches are being successful with the players who did not win with the former coach... Kirby takes over and uses Richts players to get into the top five...Nebraska is progressing and has won the last 2 games, Texas us using players that are coached up...we have good enough talent to be in the top ten but our coaching is terrible.

Go Canes!!

Posted by: WWIN | October 28, 2018 at 09:31 AM

What we would, did or could against those teams do against those teams is irrelevan because I have never said we are better than the Gators have I?

I said they've struggled to beat some bad teams and could easily have our same record.

So i didn't conveniently leave out anything and this is yet another example of you twisting something then talking down at someone.

We are terrible right now and there are no excuses. But that doesnt make the Turds any better or worse than they are does it?

BigWindyCane

I was following the Canes game while at the Carol City v Central game from Traz Powell Stadium, with my Canes gear on. This was one of the best high school games this season in terms of talent and execution. Lots of high level talent and prospects playing at Traz that night. Many approached me in shock, saying, “Did you see the UM score?”

The Canes definitely lost some ground with the high level recruits on Friday night. They also lost some ground after that performance in Charlottesville. The Canes will always get their share, but if the Canes want to compete with Clemson, Georgia and Alabama for recruits, this will be a rough year. The Canes need to rely on the relationships and proximity to get high level recruits in South Florida. Because performance on the field has been pathetic

CGNC

Sad football day yesterday for all Florida teams...except......wait for it......FIU - LOL, had to.

I too may not renew my season tickets for next year changes made. Too much money, time etc. Canes will always be my ride or die team but we need better coaching for the love of pete and a better O-line- they are a mess. They are big in size but not physical. At all.

Solar - how are you?? Getting chilly up there?

Watched Navy play Notre Dame last night - heck their QB and OC is better, they just don't have the talent :-(

CGNC

Also, my heart goes out for Francois. I had not watched FSU on TV this year and didn't realize how bad his knee is - he looked like RG III hobbling around. Taggart should have taken him out - gone to straight running plays - game was out of hand at the half anyway.

Go Canes!!

He's a gamer.

AeroCane

Big windy

Great and accurate post
Thx

mi@mic@ne

I dont talk about the opponent in how good they deserving respect... as Jimmy says every week when I write or think about our opponents I wanna kick their ass...lol thats our problem .. Richt has played a qb who is not acting in his roll in the most important position on the field. All of the respect must be measured by each person winning the battle at their position. Each person depends upon the person next to them to be successful. We cannot even get the qb on the same page in order for the team to have self respect. Why are the receivers even running patterns if the qb cannot get the ball to them. Why is the lineman blocking if the qb is holding onto the ball more than 5 seconds.. success brings respect ...period.

mi@mic@ne

If you want to show love to the team you teach them how to destroy the will of the opponent as early in the game as possible so they will give up and at that point you wont be playing in those extreme pressurized games where you get injuries.

TonyCane

Never thought about that... that has to be unique in time. Bama is ruining every thing.

Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | October 28, 2018 at 02:10 AM

It all comes down to recruiting - regular and enhanced - and Saban is the absolute best at it. His level of talent is now so far above everyone else that we should realistically be looking at the 2020 or 2021 season before they can conceivably drop a game.

It's also warping and transforming the SEC. Urban could not compete, so he went to the Big 10. The other coaches there when he was hired have all been liquidated because they could not compete. And as Alabama's success has continued it has led to a reconfiguration of the talent pool. The best talent is not scattered amongst the SEC...it's all filtering into Alabama. Making the Crimson Tide's task of winning even easier, and then perpetuating that conditions that lead to that dominance.

Be thankful that Nick Saban is nearly 70 and not 45. Because if he were the later, there's absolutely no reason why the Crimson Tide wouldn't win 25 out of 30 national championships under his watch. Or even all 30.

He's had incredible success and done an absolutely masterful job, but this level of dominance - when sustained for decades - is bad for the overall sport. Just as much as the Patriots dominance (winning something like 15 out of 17 AFC East titles) has eroded the fanbases of and damaged the organizations of the Dolphins, Bills, and Jets.

NicKane

I do agree with everyone that enough is enough! When we hired Richt I was happy and thought all he needed was a change of pace and will have a renewed sense of urgency to finally win that championship as a coach. Plus as fertile as Georgia is for recruiting it simply can’t compare to Florida especially south Florida which would be Richts backyard. Then last year gave me belief that we finally turned the corner with the 10-0 start, number two ranking, locking down early signing period with what would become the number 6 class per rivals. But it was all a mirage and I’m back to feeling like I did in 2014 with fatso! Smh now I’ve accepted the fact that Richt won’t get fired but I do hope we cont our Miami tradition and fly the banner for the duke game but let’s please get the message right on it because Fire Richt would be a waste of money. We need to put pressure on the people responsible to force the changes. So let’s target Blake James, the BOT, fire Jon Richt, Fire Stacy Searles and bringing in a REAL OC. Fly the banner and put pressure on these bums to force changes! After all that’s us fans only way to really put it in there face and hopefully force some changes. Plus it’s our tradition and everyone be knows CFB is a tradition type of game. Lol

mi@mic@ne

Even tho Clemson won the NC with an illegal pick on the dback in the endzone Dabo used a lot of miss direction, the spread with short passing to get to the next level. Now the he is recruiting 5 star olinemen you will see that the qb is just handing the ball off like a traditional offense. He used his imagination to get to the top 2 in the country and now he has 5 star recruits knocking on the door...we did the same thing when we were dominating...

CGNC wasn’t trying to say we were better or worse than the Gators. Just posted something’s about a conversation I had with some buddies last night about the sad state of affairs overall with all the big schools in the most talent rich states.

Turds had a good win against LSU but they beat Miss St scoring only one offensive TD or they’d be 5-3 as well. Instead they’re the leader among a ton of average to awful traditional power teams in Florida, Texas and Cali.

Your mental thought pendulum swings higher and further in both directions than anyone I have ever seen. You need to just relax dude, we all know the truth (we suck) and we understand where you are coming from (we hate it).

I know I need to write a new blog but I seem to have lost all motivation to do so. Wonder why?

herbieibis

I know this aside from us, FSU & UNC, nobody else seems to be having problems putting points on the board. Pitt puts 54 up on Duke who scored 45. The Cuse put up 51 on NC ST who scored 41. Wake beat the brakes off Da Ville. There are OC'S out there who can call a game, everywhere but here. U put all those teams together and they might have as much talent as we supposedly do!
Putting Perry in will be an upgrade in talent but we still can't run the ball effectively and then there is the play calling, so either way we go, it ain't going to be much better.

gc wants to eviscerate the Heck Center of all of the trophies and pictures that bring back the old days. He is so prejudiced against older coaches and if it was his decision he would have an age limit at 50 for college coaches...that would eliminate half of the coaches in the NCA. And yet facts are made by people who have gone before us. What kind of logic is it for a guy to say forget about the real events in the past and focus on the new ideas. The truth is that the new guys are standing on the shoulders of the old guard. There are no new ways of playing football. They are only tweaking the old ways. The facts are that football is a war of the wills. We have real history to prove that the U did indeed break the wills of their opponents. Instead of pointing people away from the facts why not use the history as a lesson for the young players....

mi@mic@ne

we used about 15 plays on the offense and practiced them until we were perfect. We ran the pro style...if you look the Alabamas , Georgias, and clemsons dont run much of the spread offense...they just line up and beat you...just like the 2002 canes.
