Butch, in the past.
Kaaya in the past.
Talking about them or Shannon or Cooker are days gone way by.
Butch ain't coming, so let it rest. That was then, this is now.
This is a nightmare and the bad thing is we have to endure 4 or 5 more games of this crap.
Perry ain't yalls savior. He has a better arm and upside but he's a Jaboney Harris int. Waiting to be thrown.
Weldon is better but a dog house lover he is.
We need a motivator not a guy who looks like he hasn't slept in weeks.
I just want professional people running our program. Is it too much to ask for a OC that is slightly better than okay? A QB coach that will actually have a career? Position coaches hired because of merit, not connections? I guess so. This team has me depressed.
Butch is almost 70 years old. By the time he could theoretically restock Miami to 2000 levels he would be ready to retire. We need someone like Tom Herman.
If Perry or Williams doesn’t start next week, then I will just have to content myself with a 7-5 or 6-6 record for this season, and a lower tier bowl to finish the season. Everyone can see that Rosier is limited as a QB, and the coaches who know a lot more about football than I do must see it.
Our coaches get out-coached every week. It is so evident, and the players must be very angry. Our coaches should be ashamed.

Mark Richt isnt getting fired, so its simply a futile brain exercise discussing who would replace him. I dont think its impossible, or that its a bad idea for Miami to look for his heir though. Also, Miami should take coaching decisions away from him. Clearly Blake James is not capable of doing that. The BoT should shuffle the management of the football team and appoint a Director of Football to help make decisions on staff, someone like Pete Garcia. We have until 2023 with Mark Richt, or unless he retires, we should hire a 40 something year old ace OC and allow him a certain stake in staff decisions going forward. It should be someone schooled in the spread offense, that has worked under proven coaches and has a history off success. Miami should compensate him very well and if he's successful, he could be named HCiW by the 2020 season, and more power could be shifted to him. Miami has to phase Richt out if he's unwilling to but Miami 1st.
I maybe see some angry players on the D side. I don’t see any on the O. Every player ought to be ashamed. These are supposedly Power 5, D1, Miami freakin Hurricanes players. What do I see every week?... we get out-hustled, out-tackled, our 300lb OL couldn’t move an empty cardboard box on wheels. I see soft players and soft coaches. All the hand warmers, bench warmers, helmet warmers, etc. our players needed to deal with the “cold”?!?...in October?!? Soft. It’s a mindset. Players can’t control the (crappy) gameplan. They can control their effort and desire to kick someone’s ass when on the field tho.
CMR gotta find an OC. Gotta find a ST coach. Gotta find an OL. Players gotta find some anger, some fury. Lot of young players on this roster = lot of potential even if it suks now. Young players need leadership tho from someone...
Well put Dude.
Clappy was promoted due to a great team of players...the greatest college team ever...pressuring the school...hard to argue..but never let kids make serious decisions. They liked Clappy, so that was it...they were winners big time. Clappy was fine OC...and average as HC nice but not good HC. Randy was a good DC, asshole as a person, not even close to a HC. AlPa sucked all around....awful choice. Enter Richt; another reach as he was proven to be average at best. Good man average coach.
I think it proves with the hiring of all 4 guys that this school does not have the capability to hire a real football coach. The board is ignorant, don't care who is on it, they do not know a damn thing about football and coaching. The AD is ignorant as well....several of them.
The proper step would have been to get Butch back asap; way too late to have got him when we took CMR, window was closed.
I cannot bear to think I have to watch this bad football for 5 more years. CMr is a good man, but a bad HC. He looks so disinterested I really think he just wanted to come to UM, make some $ and retire leaving it to his boy. I do not think he wants to win big time...he never really has.
I hate bad football, and this is bad football. I will support them by watching, and go to games close to me, but damn its bad football. I coach HS and college and the kids I coach are so fundamentally superior to CMRs approach to the game. I see it so clearly.
I just want to win. Watching the other games...we do not want to play them...FL or GA would beat us...TX or OSU, OK...hell Houston could beat us.....its down to horrible coaching. The D is better, but there are still issues there. The O and ST are horrible coaching jobs....those coaches should give every $ back....robbery. Starts up top at the board....they are ignorant and we feel the pain of stupid choices.
I think Richt thought by bringing in some cheap coaches that would off set what they were paying him. Banda, Rumph, J. Richt, Brown, And Hartley, mostly all Green and u add Patke and we have a bunch of coaches in their 3 or 4th years. Learning on the job, should be in places like FAU or Georgia St. Not at the U!
So true Windy;
you really do not coach in the NFL...I really do not care for those jerks. Hard to watch it...those guys making $ and are sloppy make bad mistakes every play, winning does not really matter, and so many of the teams are so bad. Many of them play bad football.
In sandlot HS college you got to coach these kids embrace them drive them motivate them...I have been so lucky to do it at these levels. CMR seems like it really does not matter to him; that presser was so bad.
There is no excuse for not coaching with passion or loving your kids; I am 60 and the wife says I am a kid! My kids keep me young and I work them hard...but they want to work hard they want to win....we as adults and coaches have to give it our all.
we are not getting that. Yes they are kids and they make errors and mistakes. Yes we must get on them correct them and at times punish them. In the end you got to get out there with them and drive them. It can be done; we are not getting it done and it hurt me to see it.
You got to admire the Red Sox...18 inning loss...then down 4...they never quit they grind and they win. I love how they play as a team, and want to win.
I have said it often..."Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is the ONLY thing!"

The Board, CMR and staff need to drink deeply of this; only then can you teach the kids to do the same.

The players are extremely angry, and it is clear that this staff has lost at least many members of this team likely irretrievably. Watching the sideline while being at this game the above was obvious.
Not writing this to deflect from our issues, which are gigantic. But i just got back from a Halloween party where we were talking football and something interesting came up.
Incredible that the biggest football schools from the three most talent rich states are all pretty much average to downright terrible.
Nice observations GC....these states that produce so much talent cannot get them to stay and play that much....tells you something about the coaching culture and environment.
We are just an average team right now going nowhere big no time soon. We have to get better.
Agree with WWIN
UF doesn’t suck and they have a coach who actually gives a damn! Wait til he gets his qb in there. It’s sad but they are going to crush us next year unless we do something dramatic this off season or sooner
Gators are ok this year. They have a good win vs LSU
But they were in a dogfight against a crappy Vanderbilt team and won an Canes VS UVA type game against Mississippi State 13-6. in which they only scored one TD the whole game.
Go
Lol
But they won and don’t have our record; they have a new coach with someone else’s recruited qb and we have a 3rd year coach - no effing comparison
Stop already - we suck and will get worse with richt unless he is forced into releasing the reins to a real OC and gets a real ST coach and either demotes his son or fired him. It’s not going to happen so we are fucked!

Posted by: Go Canes!! | October 28, 2018 at 08:06 AM
I like how you conveniently left out the fact that we both played lsu lol... we got destroyed by em and they beat em.
What do you think we would do against vandy on the road and Mississippi state?
Who's schedule is harder? Who's suppose to be winning this year and who's not suppose to be winning? They should suck this year they have a whole new coaching staff... what's our excuse???
Posted by: AeroCane | October 27, 2018 at 11:49 AM
Gotcha. Agree!Yes exactly what the boosters/AD should have done in the first place. Add have Butch stay on in some other capacity - man can evaluate talent afterhis successor was groomed. FIU is 6-2 right now. And we're not.
Coaching matters...you look at Texas, Nebraska, Georgia etc...all new coaching with very little time to recruit their players...the new coaches are being successful with the players who did not win with the former coach... Kirby takes over and uses Richts players to get into the top five...Nebraska is progressing and has won the last 2 games, Texas us using players that are coached up...we have good enough talent to be in the top ten but our coaching is terrible.
I was following the Canes game while at the Carol City v Central game from Traz Powell Stadium, with my Canes gear on. This was one of the best high school games this season in terms of talent and execution. Lots of high level talent and prospects playing at Traz that night. Many approached me in shock, saying, “Did you see the UM score?”
The Canes definitely lost some ground with the high level recruits on Friday night. They also lost some ground after that performance in Charlottesville. The Canes will always get their share, but if the Canes want to compete with Clemson, Georgia and Alabama for recruits, this will be a rough year. The Canes need to rely on the relationships and proximity to get high level recruits in South Florida. Because performance on the field has been pathetic
Sad football day yesterday for all Florida teams...except......wait for it......FIU - LOL, had to.
I too may not renew my season tickets for next year changes made. Too much money, time etc. Canes will always be my ride or die team but we need better coaching for the love of pete and a better O-line- they are a mess. They are big in size but not physical. At all.
Solar - how are you?? Getting chilly up there?
Watched Navy play Notre Dame last night - heck their QB and OC is better, they just don't have the talent :-(
Also, my heart goes out for Francois. I had not watched FSU on TV this year and didn't realize how bad his knee is - he looked like RG III hobbling around. Taggart should have taken him out - gone to straight running plays - game was out of hand at the half anyway.
I dont talk about the opponent in how good they deserving respect... as Jimmy says every week when I write or think about our opponents I wanna kick their ass...lol thats our problem .. Richt has played a qb who is not acting in his roll in the most important position on the field. All of the respect must be measured by each person winning the battle at their position. Each person depends upon the person next to them to be successful. We cannot even get the qb on the same page in order for the team to have self respect. Why are the receivers even running patterns if the qb cannot get the ball to them. Why is the lineman blocking if the qb is holding onto the ball more than 5 seconds.. success brings respect ...period.
If you want to show love to the team you teach them how to destroy the will of the opponent as early in the game as possible so they will give up and at that point you wont be playing in those extreme pressurized games where you get injuries.
