Moral of the story is that you never hire a coach who values relationship over trophies when the whole purpose of playing the game is to win trophies lol

NEW BLOG IS UP!

Sinistercane1

CIS
Richt isn't who we thought we were getting and he is everything UGa/Nation has said he would be. Which is new team, same underachieving Richt.

When we hired Richt we thanked UGA for being idiots (lmao) for letting him come to us not knowing that we've inherited everything UGA use to be. A talented team who year after year watched SharkF*cker win the East in the SEC with Treon Harris at QB (LMAO).

What they said: They told us that Richt does not handle pressure situations well. Coaches scared and will always go with the safe pick that makes him average instead of the risky pick that could make him great.
What we thought: We thought he would learn from some of his panic moves in the past like benching UGA's starting QB in 2015 after like 2 drives and countless other fiasco.
What we've gotten: Conservative and safe will always be his choice. Safe, safe, safe personnel choice (especially at QB), play calling, doesn't matter. Some pressure situations that come to mind are the onside kicks vs GT and UVa. Benching Rosier against Pitt. Benching Perry against UVa etc.

What they said: They said expect to have talented teams only for disappointment year after year.
What we thought: We thought with Richt now being in a weak ACC conference that he would manage to win more games a year and possibly be a 10-11 win coach since playing VT, Pitt, and FSU was a HUGE step down from playing Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida every year.
What we've gotten: So far, it looks like UGA fans weren't speaking out of their ass. Every time we ran into a team with a pulse we lost. We got clobbered by Clemson, LSU, Wisconsin. We also got clobbered by VT in 2016 when they were really good. We're only beating FSU because they have been the worse FSU teams in 40 years. We did beat ND and VT but those are the only games that stand out and those games had atmospheres we haven't had since the Orange Bowl.

What they said: They said Richt isn't a good play caller compared to Mike Bobo and that he needed to stick to just being a CEO at HC.
What we thought: We thought since Richt produced those high octane offenses at FSU with Florida kids that he would be able to do it again.
What we've gotten: What have we gotten? The most predictable, uninspired, unimaginative failed infusion of a read option offense into a 1989 system one could ever think of. The system is broken and it does not get your best offensive players involved. We do nothing to exploit defenses and I mean NOTHING! If your weakness as a team is defending outside routes we don't run any of it. If your defense sucks at covering crossing routes we won't run 1 crossing route. We run the SAME EXACT THING over and over again with Richt calling plays. It like Richt and Co. don't even prep or game plan for defense.

What they said: They said Richt is a "QB guru."
What we thought: Yea, we thought Richt would be able to get production out of the QB position because of his time at FSU and some of those early years at UGA.
What we've gotten: He doesn't look like it. Rosier did not improve at all. Perry looked lost in the first half vs FSU and UVa. Also the way he is handling the QB situation is like a sh*tshow on amateur hour.

What they said: Richt never cared about special teams as the special team was always a problem while he was at UGA.
What we thought: We didn't think much of it because our special teams was never really bad.
What we've gotten: I've never seen special teams this impact-fully bad before. It losing us games or keeping games close.

What they said: Richt does not make the necessary adjustment as a HC to make the team better. Lacks self/team awareness and the ability to coach or scheme around the team's overall weakness while enhancing the strengths. If you have 9-3 talent Richt can't coach them up to be 10 or 11 win team. Your going 9-3.
What we thought: We overlooked this. We thought if we recruited like we're suppose to we would run through the ACC coastal.
What we've gotten: Again this is true. Richt can't get the most out of his team schematically or out coaching his opponents. He can only luck into a better result or out talent you like in 2017. You would have thought Richt would put in effort to clean up some of the fixable things that led to so many close games in 2017 like recruiting a punter, hiring a OC or a ST coach, etc. Nope! Completely oblivious to small details that could be corrected before we played LSU that would of course come back to bit us. No awareness of his team's weakness (or strength) as a whole especially on offense. Sure he knows we need to an O-line and some WR but did he even pay attention to special teams? Like at all? No? Okay. He needs to stop "hoping" and wishing that player X, Y, and Z will eventually get the job done. To much blind faith going on with Richt and his coaching staff. Either produce or get off the field. Stop this you have 5 games to prove you can play nonsense. Also stop the with seniority over talent no matter how bad the upperclassmen looks.

What they said: Richt made a lot of bad hires at asst. coach at UGa.
What we thought: We're getting SEC caliber asst. coaches! SEC caliber recruiting!
What we've gotten: A lot of green and journeymen coaches. 3 years in and we STILL don't have a average O-line. They still get their sh*t pushed in by teams that don't even recruit DL well. Brown, Dugans are coaches who undoubtedly can coach and recruit at an SEC level. You can add Manny only as a DC (not as a LB coach) and Kul coaches at Alabama. Simpsons and Banda also have potential. Rumph is meh at best and Searels should be fired. Richt Jr is not a Miami caliber QB coach. Nepotism at it finest. Our QB's haven't gotten better and he isn't recruiting a QBs every year which is dumb and could end up worse with the way we're currently handling the QB position now. It looks like amateur hour out here the way we handle some things.

What they said: Richt team's loses games they have no business losing.
What we thought: There is no way Richt would lose games with talented Miami teams to the likes of Pitt, UNC, or UVa.
What we've gotten: We lost to a 4-8 ND team in '16. We lost to UVa in '18. We lost to Pitt as the #2 team in the land in '17. Not to mention, there were plenty of teams we could of lost to like the 4-8 Cuse, 1-7 UNC, 2 horrible FSU teams, etc.

What they said: Richt team's seem to always come out flat, unmotivated, and takes the personality of Richt's nonchalant attitude.
What we thought: We thought Richt just needed a change of scenery. He'll be fired up to coach at his alum mater.
What we've gotten: Another bingo for UGa fans. How many times have we come out flat? ESPECIALLY the offense. The offense, more then any other unit, is like this. Nonchalant attitude from players getting nonchalant play calling from a nonchalant coach.

What happened to Six, angry, ocala and those cats?

Posted by: solarcane | October 14, 2018 at 08:02 PM

Ahhhhh...the stories I could tell!

Six went AWOL during the "The Great Blog War" and he followed the Jello Shot Queen into oblivion. But then who can blame him?

Angry and Canechic are fine and dandy thank you very much. We are friends on Facebook and he just had a birthday. He is a fine officer and a gentleman in the U.S. Army and she is as beautiful as always. A Charming couple if there ever was one. May God bless them both.

Ocala found religion (seriously) and gave up sports (I think?). He is married with children in Ocala and doing well I guess but we have not spoken in many years.

Everything we are yelling about is hindsight. The real question to me is, How did we get so bad, so fast?? The fish always rots from the head. And, who makes these multi-million dollar decisions?? We know it's the BOARD, the AD, and big money influences. Just look at the drama, and trauma about possibly getting Butch back, when they hired Richt. Frustrating that it is, that is the truth. Notre Dame is the only school that I can think of, that bought all of Faust's football contract years ago. And the ALUMNI paid for it ALL. I know, because my dad contributed. Just like the envelopes and passing the basket in church!!
We shall see. I am so sad too, because we wait every year, to watch our beloved CANES.

No GD, the "good" news is that by next Friday UM might be ranked again thanks to bottom 25 attrition in the home stretch of the regular season.

Fake Lames must be hobbled with the talking points this week too if that's all he sent you out with . . .

"Posted by: CGNC | October 14, 2018 at 02:48 PM"

In a game that featured three bad QB performances, his was the best bad QB performance of them all last night! Plus he accounted for UM's only TD while special teams finally got to give away their second game of the year. Since you're a HOF around here I'll let you in on the secret sid-tards don't want discussed, the redshirt freshman QB can read a coverage but can't diagnose a defense pre-snap right now with any amount of disguise thrown on it by the opposition. Trick or Treat can diagnose a defense pre-snap but once the play is live quickly struggles to read coverage the further down the field the route is run, thus his patented style of QB play. Until the former is fixed, Smart Mark's hands are essentially tied while the offensive line continues to cut the remaining upper class dead weight and finds difference makers to use instead in those match-ups. Those ready to check in next year are excused now with valid reason as a result because I can't blame them.

Theres no good news. You win that game 20-17, then you can talk about some good news. Richt exposed himself, this is 100% bad.

BEERicane

Agreed Herb. Out like month straight at home probably made it more difficult to prepare for a game on the road. In particular after the FSU game. But that’s not an acceptable excuse

herbieibis

I'll say this, we just can't play on the road anymore. It's like a shyt show. We are lost, dazed and confused. It's like a foreign country, that we've never been to and don't know how to act.

mi@mic@ne

You saw what Brevan did when he got that pass in the flat..he got a short pass and ran 30 yards...i said in the first q that is how we beat that defense. It was the proof that we could have gotten a lot of 30 yard runs early.

mi@mic@ne

Richt cannot change his scheme to fit the qbs strengths. He pulled Perry after two pics because he has wants a qb who can run his offense by reading the coverage. But Vagina mixed the coverage's in order to confuse our qb. They also played the goldilox 3 4 with the d backs lining up 10 yards deep. We know how that defense can be attacked because we got exposed on the bubble screens in the goldilox 3 4. I said that Perry was not prepared to be successful because Richt was calling mid range passes in the teeth of that soft defense. If Richt called the plays that he called on our scoring drive then Perry would have had 4 td passes. Its Richts fault that he did not attack their weakness until we lost the momentum and gave them a reason to believe they could win.

herbieibis

WR'S catch 6 passes the entire game and 3 of them by Cager, is a gross miss use of speed and talent. Now Richt said when he first got here we didn't have enough speed and had to upgrade that at the WR position, well what is the excuse now?
It just blows The Herb's mind, that u can't formulate a dam game plan to fit your personel, whom ever the QB is. There is a certain thing called packages for each QB, that fits their talents.

The great coaches know how to delegate. Period. Frankly that's their Fing job.

herbieibis

Tell me how u have 14 to 15 offensive linemen and u have maybe one kid on the roster who can play tackle and he is a true freshman?
He talked about our lack of speed at WR and now we have speed but he can't figure out how to get the ball to these guys, except by running fly patterns.
He has brought in 8 freshmen the last 2 recruiting cycles, plus a grad transfer and yet we have no tackles.
We have 2 broke down punters, who we can't flip the field with.
Neither QB is great, with accuracy and they use Rosier, who has the weaker arm, throwing the fly patterns.
Third and one, I have no problem using the FB on one of those plays but twice but even that being said, we aught to be able to grind out one flipping yard in 2 tries.
The on side kick to The Herb was stupid. Pooch kick it to the 25 to 30 and make them try and go 70 yds. We needed field position, plus when have our special teams done any thing worthy, except put us in a worse situation.
Then there's Tito a pick up from Illinois, who had we been recruiting DT's real hard, we would have no use for this cast off.
The play calling sucks!
The offensive coordinator sucks!
The QB coach sucks!
The special team coach sucks!
The O-Line coach definetly sucks!
We have weapons on offense to score a ton of pts. but as long as Richt is calling the shots, we'll but lucky to average 20Pts. a game.Get ready because the rest of the games are going to be a dog fight only because Richt will keep these teams in the game by this Vanilla fudge he's offering our opponents.

Dude on a Pale Horse

If Im the AD, Richt has a deadline of the start of the last game to submit his ideas on coaching changes on Awfense. If not, Im forcing an OC of my choosing on him, probably Jedd Fisch because weve worked together before and his resume is pretty good. If Richt wont play ball, I will phase him out delivering more and more power to Fisch and Diaz, essentially making Richt a figure head. Im sorry/not sorry but you dont get to ruin this brand for some sense of self satisfaction you get by calling plays and implementing your awfense. Jon Richt is the coach thats out.

TonyCane

He’s responsible for putting all the pieces in place for us to have the #1 defense in the country.

You can’t rip him for one side of the ball and give no credit for the good things we have.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | October 14, 2018 at 12:04 PM

He gets credit for the improving infrastructure, national profile, recruiting, and hiring good defensive coaches. His negatives at the moment are on the offensive side of the ball.

We have a loaded wide receiver corp. Every player except Langham is a four (or in the case of Pope 5 star) player. We have a deep running back corp. Yet right now our offense looks as hapless as the abyssal depths that we sank to in 2006 when punters and cornerbacks had to play WR because we didn't recruit any for a few years. To say that we are underperforming is an understatement, and if it continues the recruits will dry up and all the good that he has done will be squandered.

It is my opinion that OC has now become a forced issue. Miami should explain to him that the new hire will be made BEFORE the bowl game so these kids know whats happening next year, and hopefully it will create a buzz. He Should have until Miami's last game to submit 3 names, and James should have 10 names by next week. As an organization, you can not let poor management ruin your team. There shouldnt be any such thing as enough rope to hang yourself with.

Go Canes!!

CMR has done way more good than bad since arriving here.

But his legacy hangs on his ability to recognize what needs to be done with this offense.

He can continue to recruiit top players, hoping he ends up with so much o line and QB talent that his offense works. Or he finds coaching help that makes an average offense good, a good offense great and a great offense unstoppable.

It’s up to him at this point.

86Cane

All you need to do is watch one entire Saturday of college football and then watch Miami play and you can see the total difference between competence and incompetence on offense.

It doesn't take detailed statistical analysis, extensive knowledge of schemes, technical football jargon, or a complex understanding of the game. It is all right there before your eyes to see, just as plain as day.

WWIN

I honestly ask what's the difference between the Folden Years and the Richt Error???

One could argue that Richt Error is worse

Is THAT what you are saying? Because if so that coach may need to be fired because I was always told "Coaches know everything, Fans don't know ANYTHING!"

Today feels worse than last night.

Cause no matter what happens this week our o-line is trash, CMR’s play calling is trash and our QB position is trash.

And everyone on here can spend the whole week arguing one is mainly responsible for the other two...and everyone be right...

Maybe the worst part of all is we’re going to waste this National Championship caliber defense. A defense I’d love to go to war with in a huge game and see what they can do with an offense that doesn’t put them in multiple shitty positions literally every single game.

Agreed! The thing I don't get is where re all those plays in the end of the 4th during the regular game that would settle down his QB? get the ball to your playmakers in space.

The shame of all this is Butch was there waiting for the U call when
Georgia dumped Richt

Hi Solar. I wanted Butch so bad and he interviewed and wanted the job. BUT there were some that could not over him leaving and whatnot. The scandal at UNC with academics far pre-dated his hire there. BUT every time we had a coaching opening and tested the waters to see if Richt wanted it, he always said no. Then he was fired and we scooped him up like found money. Schiano interviewed for the job too I think.

That banner place will be up and running sooner rather than later LOL

I don’t even have an issue with him calling plays.

My issue is the design of the plays he’s calling. Our offense needs a bright, aggressive younger mind to modernize and maximize our offensive potential

He absolutely has to make that change after this season.

Lol. This is the most inconsistent thing I have read in a long while.

So you have no issue with him calling plays which you fully admit he has no clue how to do.

No problem calling plays = need a new OC 💯
I got it now...

The funny thing is that post essentially reveals the inner conflict we all feel for our canes and the inexplicable flops we see on the field.

Go Canes!!

I’m not turning on CMR. I don’t have an issue with his extension. I don’t even have an issue with him calling plays.

My issue is the design of the plays he’s calling. Our offense needs a bright, aggressive younger mind to modernize and maximize our offensive potential.

I also understand he’s coaching to an extent with both hand tied behind his back. That O-line simply isn’t talented. They physically cannot impose their will on anyone. And watching Malik last night was like reliving a bad dream. He also is just a mediocre at best talent under center.

At the end of the day, pulling Perry was a huge mistake and one I hoped he learned from. And again our qb and O-line play is awful. But a good offensive mind with a better, more innovative offense would have found a way to score enough to win last night.

He absolutely has to make that change after this season.

We hired a reject and a reject is what we got!
Should have hired butch which most of us wanted with a ‘coach in waiting’ or one of the young up and coming guys
Heck Fisch or cristobil would have been better more fun and exciting than the reject we have.
Canes football is no fun with richt! It’s not only about winning, but enjoying the game - it is our entertainment dollar!
Remember. He almost lost to a terrible and poorly coached Seminole team!
And, he should of pulled Perry for 1 series at most! Malik sucks and that won’t change. If he didn’t put Perry in he should of put williams in - play Williams, lingard, nesta, Pope, etc and let’s either win or lose with fun and young

Remember that time when I said giving CMR an extension was premature???

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I bet Haselwood can't wait to play in a awfense like this!

Posted by: WWIN | October 13, 2018 at 11:49 PM

Haselwood isn’t coming to this crap

WWIN

Why not give Williams a chance if you won't put Perry back in? He has 3 more games to play in without burning his redshirt.

WWIN

This was very Golden-esque!!!

He really took my post about Rosier to the heart

BEERicane

And Go Canes is turning against the regieme. This is a harbinger of badness.

HillviewCane

What bothers me so much is his actions appear to be hypocritical.

He is not doing what's best for the team. Richt loves something and wants to do it so he's doing it.

He ask players to get in where they fit in. Pull Rosier for the good of the team. Pull Pery for the good of the team. Gray you are a FB now.

Maybe it will get better but right now it feels like it's all bout him. This can't be what's best for the team. It starts there. It can't be good for anyone on the O when we are so predictable. It's not what's best for the team.

He needs to hire the best he can for those responsibilities and hold them accountable if they are not producing results. Starting with the man in the mirror.

HillviewCane

I have never been a college coach but I can imagine it must be a very dificult time consuming job. There are a lot of other things that I like about Richt. He has done good things in certain areas of the team. However we never seem to take advantage of the weaknesses of our individual opponents or advantage of our strengths on offense. Richt doesn't have the bandwith to give the O the attention it deserves. I don't care if he loves it. The team deserves better.
