Go Canes!!

Maybe we should wait til Perry has perhaps 4-5 freshman starts before fire anyone.

Maybe he goes for it so much on 4th down because he has total confidence in his defense.

Terrance Sullivan

Knowles should not see the field anymore period. I rather see preferred walk-on's play before him. He is Evan Sherriffs awful.

This once again has NOTHING to do with the point being argued, which is at this time special teams.

Maybe he goes for it on 4th down so much because his play calling is so horrendous that we can't get first downs on the first three plays of the drive like most other teams do?

He's definitely no Gray Crow.

86Cane

Gray Crow’s playing time as a Miami Hurricane quarterback was limited to two games as a redshirt freshman, but his generosity will be broad reaching.

Crow, a former three-star recruit out of Clearwater Countryside when he arrived at UM in January of 2012 to participate in spring football, not only is donating $5,000 toward the Carol Soffer Football Indoor Practice Facility, but he has made a planned gift to UM, which in the future would set up a $500,000 endowment fund in his name to provide football scholarship support.

The commitment was his way of giving back to the Hurricanes, who gave him a scholarship that allowed him to not only play football, but to graduate in December of 2015 as a political science major.

I wanted Shane Beamer... what a fit he would have been.

You’ve been talking about both.

He went for it inside the 10 against FIU.

He went for it at midfield against FSU.

Neither has to do with special teams. He’s being aggressive and trusting his D.

You left out the word 'if' from my post.

Just saying we don't know... maybe he is better than our other receivers. Jeff Thomas doesn't have the size that Haselwood has.

I definitely get what you're saying and I feel the same as you... we really don't need a WR... but pulling a kid of his caliber might make our other targets say you know what, if someone like him wants to go to UM I should jump on board too... and might help us land another QB this cycle.

Go Canes!!

ATTN Big Windy!!!

Have you seen much of *** CB Jarvis Brownlee play much? I cant figure out why the kid isnt a 4*, kid looks like a total stud to me. He plays fast & angry, hes got size, speed and agility.

That top 10 board could go a bad way in a hurry... we have got to start closing these kids.

Neither did Santana Moss
If Pope can get on the field I dont think anyone touches our crew.

I get what you are saying about the recruiting cred.
Lingard influenced some kids decisions I beleive that is true.
A lot can happen between now and signing day.

I agree with the majority of this post except the part where you act as if this staff is too good to make blunders. In case you don't know... this staff isn't great or perfect by any means. We have a LOT of WR's to keep happy, so it wouldn't be unbelievable to think that one or a few of them are upset about playing time.

Yahoo or hoo-ha or what ever they are news

There were hints earlier this week that the Virginia Cavaliers would reveal a new look for Saturday night’s game vs. the Miami Hurricanes.

That proved to be true as the Wahoos are going with a new uniform combination at home for the first time this season.

Virginia will be wearing blue helmets, blue jerseys, and blue pants.

— Virginia Football (@UVAFootball) October 12, 2018
UVA faces Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Game Notes courtesy of VirginiaSports:

UVA Back in Action After Bye Week

• Virginia returns to home for its first ACC Coastal matchup of 2018 as the Miami Hurricanes come to Scott Stadium.

• UVA is 28-31 all-time when coming off a bye week and 1-1 under head coach Bronco Mendenhall, defeating Duke (28-21) in 2017.

• The game will be televised live on ESPN2 and kick is set for 7 p.m.

It is Homecomings in Charlottesville

• Saturday is Homecomings at UVA and the Cavaliers own a 46-45-2 (.505) all-time Homecomings record.

• UVA's last win on Homecomings was in 2015 when the

Cavaliers defeated Syracuse, 44-38, in three overtimes.

Virginia vs. Miami

• This is the 16th meeting between the Coastal Division rivals. With UVA winning four of the last eight

meetings, Miami leads the series by three games, 9-6.

• Miami won the first three games in the series (1996, 2004, 2005), but it's been a 6-6 draw since.

• Since the Hurricanes' arrival in the Atlantic Coast Conference (2004), Miami leads the series narrowly, 8-6.

Five Top Storylines

• Saturday is the earliest date on the schedule that UVA has ever played Miami and is only the third time the game has been contested in the month of October. UVA is 2-0 against Miami in the 10th month of the year, winning in 2010 (Oct. 30) at Scott Stadium, 24-19, and in 2011 (Oct. 27) on a Thursday night at current Hard Rock Stadium, 28-21.

• Since ACC Divisional play began in 2005, this marks the first season UVA has not played an ACC Coastal team in either of its first two conference games. UVA started the ACC slate with games against Louisville and NC State from the Atlantic Division.

• Virginia has rushed for 959 yards through its first five games of 2018. It's only the third time since 2000 the Cavaliers have rushed for at least 900 yards through their first five games. The only year UVA rushed for more than this year's squad during that spand was the 2004 season (1,375).

• HB Olamide Zaccheaus is the only active player in the nation with at least 2,000 career receiving yards (2,196) and 450 career rushing yards (490). There is no other active player that even has 1,500 career receiving yards and 450 career rushing yards.

• QB Bryce Perkins is one of 10 FBS quarterbacks since 2000 to record 1,100+ passing yards, 340+ rushing yards, 11+ passing touchdowns and 3+ rushing touchdowns through the first five games of the season

solarcane

DJ Dallas has 29 yards rushing more than Virginia's quarterback.

This is worrisome

He's very fast. We must push the pocket into his face and Garvin & Jackson must seal him in. If Mike & Trajan do their job. On the other side the OL has got to do better, they are missing assignments and getting bullied way too often. Searles should coaching for his job right now because his unit has been a disorganized sh*t shoe since the day he arrived, he has more than enough talent there, we shouldnt be that poor. Offense needs to make sure this isnt a game.

you werent s**ting when you said he is fast. check out the hurdle.

I hope Carter pummels him early so he thinks twice about this crap

86Cane

Go Canes....I don't believe this is a scenario where one person has to be right and the other one wrong. I think it is a situation of "all of the above". I think Richt considers all of the factors we are discussing BEFORE going for it on 4th down and being what we call "aggressive".

I believe like you that he feels he can trust his defense but if he felt the same way about his special teams he probably would punt in some of those situations. Clearly based on their performance, he shouldn't, and doesn't.

His Majesty The Dude on High

Posted by: solarcane | October 12, 2018 at 12:32 PM

Yep. Weve got to push the pocket in his face like I said. Thing is, a kid with that much speed is GOING to make some plays. Thats why the O needs to make sure these guys arent hanging around.

Miami 38, UVA 20.

Team overall efficiency

Think our play calling and special teams are wasting one of the best defenses we have had in a decade or so?

http://www.espn.com/college-football/statistics/teamratings/_/tab/efficiency

solarcane

What was there,
2 teams in the entire country with worse special teams?

86Cane

Solar...teams simply can't afford to consistently give up that much field position on special teams coupled with an inconsitent offense to boot. Seems like a recipe for failure sooner or later?

His Majesty The Dude on High

Charles Perry has left the team. Hes taking a redshirt and transferring for his Senior year. Best wishes Charles.

In the last 48 hours I’ve said they dropped the ball by not recruiting a QB, called CMR’s play calling atrocious at times and said our special teams are a disaster.

herbieibis

Richt goes for on 4TH down because one he has no faith in our kickers.
Hasselwood, although the number 1 WR, he is not blazing fast.
The Herb looks for us to Get:
Neal
Bogle
Ingrahm
Zepperer
The rest of those guys I'd say are 50/50 at best.
Weaver is probably Kentucky right now.
Wyndemeyer is a Texas A&M lean.
Stevenson is either us or Georgia
Howell is verballed to FSU but wouldn't be surprised if the Heels didn't get him.
Hasselwood is leaning our way at present.
Look For us to flip Nunn if we don't get Stevenson or maybe we get both.

As The Herb stated earlier Richt will keep the game close, with the play calling. He just don't have the killer instinct. We should be bum rushing the teams but he is old school, run as much as possible, don't turn the ball over, flip the field, and let the defense take the game over. 27-17 A Struggle.

If that is the case, I will not be posting during the game. I don't think this will happen, in fact I believe UM will go up large early, like 24-10 and then win by the score of, wait for it, let it marinate...

UM 34 - UVA 13.

who is gonna to be the first to snap on canspace after the 1st failed 3rd down conversion?

Mark from Atl

Just win baby for the love of God...just win! I’m still hungover from last week!
But I think this is a tough game for our Canes...really hope to see the offense lead the way and let the defense mop them up and close it out.
Would love to see the run game strong and enable single coverage on our WRs and TEs, and of course passes to the RBs.
A broken record- I’m stopping here...
My heart = U 34-20
My aching head and increasing heart rate = U 31-27

The Giants online has been a mess for a while.

Too bad.

I’m not a huge fan, but Barkley is SPECIAL.

They looked clean as hell in the throw backs. Giants on the helmet and all white.

The gray pants and the goofy looking ny is one of the worst uniforms in the league.

U both think our D gives up 20+?? That due to UVA’s QB & that speedster WR? Plus history of under-performance when Canes travel the last 10-15 years?

I’m thinking (hoping) Canes D keeps playing at high level - aggressive & confident.

28-17 CANES
