Happy Birthday Dude!

SOUP

Fast forward to 2018, and we have four and five star players throughout the offense. Yet we cannot manage more than Run, Run, Pass, Punt?

Posted by: TonyCane | October 20, 2018 at 01:41 PM

Tony...now we have been over this before. Miami can't win until we can recruit 4-5 Star players.

Oh, wait, we have those on offense already?

Bronco Mendenhall is in his third season as Virginia’s head football coach after being named the program’s 40th head coach on Dec. 4, 2015.

Beats Miami just three years in, huh?

Unfortunately, beating Miami hasn’t meant much of anything since 2005.

Terrance Sullivan

Happy birthday Raize. Hopefully U can join us for the Canespace Four Play in February hopefully Native can join us as well. Spend a weekend in Miami I. February would be sweet.

TonyCane

But SOUP, those are just four and five star players. We need six, seven, and eight star players. That is clearly the difference.

mi@mic@ne

Our d dominated Virginia....but our offense gave them confidence because we do not make plays period...the canes are constipated and need to loosen up the passing game...we need more fiber lol Vagina thinks that are all world now

mi@mic@ne

Duke has a receiver underneath and over the top...as you can see Virginia d backs staring at the qb...they both covered the short man...Cutliff exposed their d

mi@mic@ne

we need a o coach who knows that he is doing

Yes, it's true, we do have a few 4 and 5 star players on the offense BUT unfortunately our starting O-Line still has Jahir Jones, Ty Gauthier, AND Hayden Mahoney all debatable 3 star players or less, either starting or rotating out. Now we do have several 4 star players that play O-Line BUT apparently Searles can't develop them Or they missed diagnosed how good they actually were coming out of high school. We have way to many 3 star players that we have to depend on who aren't dependable.

Tony...can U do one of your infamous recruiting comparisons between Miami and UVA and how their last 5 classes were ranked in recruiting over the last 5 years?

SOUP

2018 Biggest Surprises:

3. New quarterback impacts. All over the country, teams have found success behind freshmen, transfers and backups under center. Jobs have been saved, postseason hopes salvaged, and fortunes altered by guys we didn't see coming. At Texas Tech, it has been a combination of true freshman Alan Bowman and backup Jett Duffey that appears to have saved Kliff Kingsbury's job. Gardner Minshew almost transferred to Alabama from East Carolina to be a third-string quarterback, but instead chose Washington State where he is leading the nation in passing yards. Washington transfer KJ Carta-Samuels is the only thing keeping Colorado State afloat. USC can't run the football and has had to lean entirely on the arm of true freshman JT Daniels to find any offense. True freshman Adrian Martinez is the only thing keeping Nebraska fans optimistic after an 0-6 start. Joe Burrow's steady hand and fiery attitude have powered LSU into the top five. Trevor Lawrence beat out an established starter on a playoff-caliber team at Clemson. Ian Book came off the bench at Notre Dame to breathe playoff life into the Irish offense. Iowa State true freshman Brock Purdy came off the bench to engineer two consecutive Top 25 upsets. Across the country, it has been a good lesson that it's never too late or too early for a quarterback to come of age.

SOUP

2018 Biggest Disappointments:

2. Instant impact coaching hires. Nebraska hired the most universally praised coach since Tom Osborne when it lured native son Scott Frost back home. He has led the Huskers to their first 0-6 start in school history. Chip Kelly was universally lauded as the right man for the gig at UCLA. He's off to a 1-5 start with losses to Cincinnati and Fresno State. Willie Taggart appeared to be the perfect fit for Florida State, but an ugly 3-3 start includes a game in which the Noles looked overmatched against an FCS team. The worst-case scenario for each didn't look like this, but here we are. The good news is that positive signs are emerging, and teams are getting better not worse as the season progresses.

Mr Williams, you are hereby being summoned to commence Operation Offensive Production

IMHO, the Canes need to find a “Jess Simpson” type coach for the offensive line

A scholarship specialist kicker that can be trusted from 42 yards away consistently on the road is more important than flushing the nepotism out for Art Briles right now.

herbieibis

Apparently our QB guru is now at Georgia, Coley!

Dude on a Pale Horse

I think Jedd Fisch would be my hire if I'm the AD. Cant decide what to do with the OL yet, but that one is gonna change also... just no Kehoe...

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: BigWindyCane | October 20, 2018 at 03:07 PM

Any ideas on who that should be?

herbieibis

Tua has 169 passing in the first QT. and we got little bit over that for last weeks game. It just dam disgust The Herb watching some of these teams, throw the ball all over the place and we make out to be rocket science.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Jedd Fisch: Plans against other teams weaknesses. Plans towards our QBs strengths. Runs the ball enough to make MR happy. Throws to TEs. Worked with McVay, Carroll & Harbaugh. Stints in the NFL. Got promoted once already to the NFL. Makes solid HT adjustments. Im not saying he's the Briles boy, but he'd make us at the very least solid.

Dude on a Pale Horse

We need an OL coach that builds monsters and that can recruit, especially in Florida, Texas & Georgia. Need a guy that knows how to build depth like Wisconsin or Iowa does. Searels should be coaching for his job right now, I just dont see it. Sorry not sorry, you didnt meet the standard Searels.

Go Canes!!

Watching the Clemson game. They have minimal movement in their offense and actually run a ton of plays we do. Difference is their offensive line is dominant and Lawrence is the real deal.

Hats off to Dabo. He knew he’s going have to score 30 or more to beat Bama so he went all in with the true freshman, who’s probably going to be the first pick of the draft.

Go Canes!!

Buddy if we had Tua we’d be undefeated and ranked in the Top 5.

We make walking and chewing gum look hard.

I have said time and time again on here that if you watch an entire Saturday of college football and then watch the Canes play it looks like a completely different sport.

It is not that complicated.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | October 20, 2018 at 04:47 PM

Tua or about 20 other QBs than the ones we have right now. But how does a QB go from being GREAT in HS to horrible at UM when other QBs go from being average in HS to GREAT in college???

BigWindyCane

Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | October 20, 2018 at 04:25 PM

Jedd Fisch was the best QB Coach and OC the Canes have had in the last two decades. He would turn the Canes offense around. The problem is CMR isn’t going to fire his son, but he could bring Fisch in as OC. If he does that, he might lose Dugans or Brown.

BigWindyCane

Tia would be nice, but I would also love to have that Alabama offensive line. The Canes offense will look a lot better with an offensive line that consistently opens large holes for RBs and gives the QB 7-8 seconds to find an open receiver

SOUP

Brown and Junior CMR need to go.

Dugans can stay to recruit.

Bring in Fisch or a guy like him with his own QB coach. Then we win games going away.

BUT REMEMBER...it is NOT our job to coach, or play AD. Our only job is to be a FAN. We cheer, we boo, when we win or lose. That is all.

BigWindyCane

It is not that complicated.

Let me introduce you to Miami's NEXT Head Coach...

Coaching career:

Cristobal's coaching career began at Miami where he served as a graduate assistant under Butch Davis from 1998 to 2000. From 2001 to 2003, Cristobal was the tight ends and offensive line coach at Rutgers University under Greg Schiano. He returned to Miami to serve as tight ends coach and offensive line coach under Larry Coker for three seasons from 2004 to 2006.

Alabama:

After his unexpected dismissal as head coach at FIU, Cristobal was hired by Miami to serve as associate head coach and tight ends coach on January 10, 2013.[10] Six weeks later, he was hired by Nick Saban to become Alabama's assistant head coach, offensive line coach, and recruiting coordinator.[11]

Cristobal was an elite recruiter at Alabama, finishing No. 1 in the national 247Sports composite rankings in each of his four seasons.[12] He was named the National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports in the 2015 cycle and in 2016 he was ranked as the nation’s No. 2 recruiter in the country by 247Sports.

Cristobal’s Alabama offensive line was awarded as the nations best in 2015, winning the inaugural Joe Moore Award given to the toughest, most physical line in the nation.[13] His offensive line ranked in the top 25 nationally in sacks allowed in each of his first two seasons. Alabama’s offensive lines produced standout players and NFL draft picks under Cristobal, including first-team All-American and 2015 first-round draft pick Ryan Kelly and 2014 freshman All-American Cam Robinson, who went on to win the Outland Trophy in Cristobal’s final year with Alabama.[14]

Oregon:

In January 2017, Cristobal joined Willie Taggart's staff at Oregon as offensive line coach, with additional duties as co-offensive coordinator (shared with quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo) and run game coordinator (along with running backs coach Donte Pimpleton).[15] On December 5, 2017, he was given the title of interim head coach upon Willie Taggart's departure to Florida State; then, three days later, on Friday, December 8, 2017, Cristobal was officially announced as permanent head coach of the Ducks.[16]

BigWindyCane

Coach L picked up four star forward Anthony Walker III, the 76th ranked player in the country, according to Rivals. Izundu and Lawrence are seniors, and Hernandez (formerly Huell) might leave early.

BigWindyCane

With the departures in the Canes frontcout after this season, Walker could come in and play Immediately next season.

herbieibis

No, Tua would be average, with this offensive line and probably both his knees aching.
Brow
Brown stays to coach RB'S only.
The son goes to keeping stats.
Richt fires himself and gets an offensive coordinator.
Searles is history.
Hire A qb COACH.

Come on Herb aren’t you being a little dramatic and contradicting?

You don’t think CMR is dumbing down this offense, even a little bit because he doesn’t trust his QBs?

And If Tua would be here with aching knees because this oline is so awful, then why do we need to change OCs and QB coaches?

Blanket statements like Tua wouldn’t be good here because CMR would slow him down are crazy. That kid came in elite and was going to be elite wherever he played.

AeroCane

Go - I’ll disagree! As almost everyone has said in here: richts offense is antiquated and simple. He needs to move into this freaking century. If we had tua and he was sucking it here, you’d be saying if we had Perry or ‘name the guy’ he’d be doing great.
This offense sucks - period! Richt sucks as an OC- period! And the qb coach has no clue and sucks - period!
Until that changes we will be who we are and Georgia was with him - good but not good enough with a boring ass offense and a head coach who is ‘too nice’ and plays too often to ‘not to lose’ than to win big!!

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: Go Canes!! | October 20, 2018 at 06:17 PM

Maybe if Mark Richt had put The U first, and not his unqualified son, then perhaps Miami would be in a position where the plays didnt have to be dumbed down? The guy has 4 scholarship players under his management and none of them are able to function in this offense? If this playbook is being dumbed down, then it falls on MR's nepotism.

TonyCane

Brad Kayaa - Could not run the offense, went pro early

Jack Allison - Four star recruit, transferred after likely told "I can't see you as quarterback"

Malik Rozier - Three star recruit who stayed after being told "I can't see you as quarterback"

Evan Sherrifs - Two star recruit that only Miami and Georgia's Mark Richt went after. Transferred too.

N'Kosi Perry - Four star, highly rated dual threat quarterback who can't run the offense after over a year at school

Cade Weldon - Unknown

Jarren Williams - Too new to "run the offense"

Tony...can U do one of your infamous recruiting comparisons between Miami and UVA and how their last 5 classes were ranked in recruiting over the last 5 years?

Posted by: SOUP | October 20, 2018 at 02:48 PM

Virginia had:

2014 Class: 2 5 Stars, 2 4 stars
2015 Class: 2 4 Stars
2016 Class: All three stars or below
2017 Class: All three stars or below
2018 Class: All three stars or below

That's what beat us, on paper.
