So your Miami Hurricanes, who slept through their last four games like they were on a tryptophan high, went out and ate some serious turkey on Saturday way before the official Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday. But why complain?
In doing so they answered at least one of my Christmas wishes by beating the Virginia Tech Hokies convincingly by the score of 38-14.
Homers like Go Canes and Big Windy Cane were absolutely giddy with the results. RoachCane, KYCane and NativeCane simply could not believe their eyes at the offensive outburst. It was a performance not seen around here recently.
And even traditional "Negative Nancies" like WWIN, AeroCane and Herbibis had no bad words to say about Miami's hot performance on this cold night in Blacksburg, VA. The Grinch was silenced on this night by the boys from the 305.
Head coach Mark Richt finally grew wise enough to have QB Malik Rosier sit in his proper place on the bench while should-have-been-all-along-starter N'Kosi Perry looked better than anyone could have dreamed other than Old Skool and RaizeCane who were cheering for him like little school girls.
Wait for it...hold it...wait, let it marinate...the Hurricanes actually scored like some real points on offense during the game like they may have had a real clue what they were doing with the ball in their hands. Amazing, but true.
I know, it is hard to fathom, but yes, it is actually true. And there was not even a debate, the scoreboard said so. Take that you bunch of Hokies!
So now all we need for Christmas is another win over Pitt this Saturday at The Rock. That is not really too much to ask for Christmas, is it?
And then a nice bowl game win to end the 2018 season on a high note while recovering from our Thanksgiving turkey induced tryptophan high (look it up).
Then as long as SolarCane and I don't drown on the Chattooga River this Summer, we can all take a deep breath, sit back and relax and let recruiting takes its natural course and maybe even go go horizontal for a few months.
That is until Spring football, the Legends of The Fall and the stress of another season, starts all over again. May God help us all!
cam davis has a special burst ...really fast

Dear Coach Les Miles,
Seeing that you have just been appointed new head coach at Kansas, you will be on the hunt for some assistant coaches. Please do NOT come to the University of Miami and poach our coaches! We have the best staff we've ever had, these corches... I mean coaches just so happen to be from SEC schools too... not that it matters tho. Thanks in advance!
P.S. the coach that we value the most is our QB coach, he's the best in the business! Please don't take him!

I just want to hear that the Canes had another "spirited" week of practice. By "spirited" I mean fights.......
something lit a fire under their asses last week and the same should happen this week.

I am glad that I was wrong I thought after we lost Homecoming to Duke 2 weeks ago that we would lose out and miss a bowl game and finish with a 5-7 season. Let's win at least one more game to ensure that we at least finish with a winning record. Oh how I would love for us to win out. That would take our Season from a Texas Sized Turd Season to a Delaware Sized Turd Season Ya Dig!

Advice to Richt... " I treat the good players different from the average players." JJ...You cannot win by playing slow and no so good athletes.
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | November 19, 2018 at 10:23 AM
First you have to have good players

For this reverse psychology to work, Lawrence Kansas has to have something to sell over Miami Florida in the first place, Willie.
Good luck with that . . .

Sully,
Playing for a Delaware size turd season should give them plenty of incentive, next year a Rhode Island steaming pile should be the goal.

Yes Sir Solar!
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | November 19, 2018 at 11:27 AM
we have best athlete in the ACC. Cam, the freshman o line, Perry, our receivers...highlighting Thomas who should have been doing all the ball handling on punts, kickoffs...but Richt would not play them based on talent. He played the slower guys..the olinemen who were average athletes that put on weight and the bad qb and slow backs because they were better familiar with the offense.Thats not what we did back in the day. We put our best athletes on the field even tho they did not fully understand the play book. We lost because the athletes were sitting on the bench. They got to be directed on the field by the older guys.

The line has already shed half a point in favor of the 2018 champion of the coastal, Ducheine must be expected to play if it keeps shrinking in the same direction.
How'd that preseason poll turn out?;
http://www.theacc.com/news/2018/7/23/clemson-leads-acc-football-preseason-poll.aspx
Coastal Division (First place votes)
Miami (122) – 998 [tied for 4th]
Virginia Tech (16) – 838 [tied for 4th]
Georgia Tech (8) – 654 [2nd in clubhouse]
Duke (1) – 607 [tied for 4th]
Pitt – 420 [1st sidtard sports writers!]
North Carolina (1) – 370 [basement 7th]
Virginia – 257 [3rd]

I am very happy that Soup's Christmas wishes are coming true.
LOL, TSully. At least a Delaware-sized turd can be easily flushed, and the toilet will look like new for the next visitor to the toilet. A little air freshener might even make it a more pleasant place for the next visitor.
But a Texas-sized turd may cause a toilet malfunction, overflow, stain the floor and require a call to the local plumber. Texas size may require wholesale changes in (personnel, coaches, etc.) just to fix it properly, while Delaware-size might just require a few recruits, a new playcaller, OL coach and/or OC.

Agree 100%. Aside from a special burst, Davis also has RB vision and feet. I don't know what he is listed at, but I can confirm that Davis is bigger and faster than Homer, and he is a natural RB. With Lingard injured, Davis is the best RB on the roster right now. When Lingard comes back next season, this could be the best RB1-RB2 combination the Canes have had in years. If they continue to put in the work, both could be very good NFL RBs.

Next year we have two of the best running backs in the ACC, a great tight end
wide receivers with blazing speed and below average hands
Watch Richt switch to a 4 wide set next season and waste a 1000 yrd running back thats how he rolls

FSU gets FIVE ACC players of the week in one game....give me a break
Posted by: solarcane | November 19, 2018 at 03:28 PM
Seems that we have some fight left. Let's win at Pitt, come home and prepare for a bowl game. No matter how small of a bowl game, most schools would trade places with the U in a split second.
I still love my CANES no matter what!!!!
Players play and GOOD coaches mold them to be outstanding men of the U.
Basketball is where we go next. I like that Chris Lykes. He reminds me of Shane Larkin. (I call him Sugar Shane).

Kelly Bryant cancelled his official visit to Miami, and will go to Auburn instead. It looks like Perry’s performance on Saturday discouraged Bryant and made him doubt that he could actually win the starting job. CMR also made some positive comments about Perry in the media.

Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 19, 2018 at 02:07 PM
1. Even though all RBs have "feet" (LOL) his vision allows his burst to be purposeful and meaningful. Running full speed in the wrong direction or into the pile does nothing for anybody. Seeing the crease or the lane and accelerating into it towards daylight is what separates the great from the average.
2. Vision, burst, balance and lateral acceleration or the ability to change direction without losing speed are the hallmarks of a great running back.
Watch Devin Hester change direction on a return at FULL SPEED without losing any forward acceleration was a thing of beauty!

Dam The Herb a negative Nellie, say it ain't so!
Should I say, I tell it like it is.
Now the reverse psychology worked this past weekend. Yes I gave in after 4 lousy weeks and I picked us to lose. I should of know better because we are only good for 4 in a row but I saw no light at the end of the tunnel. Now maybe there is a glint.
Now, I'm not going to be tooting no horn just yet. That Va. Tech was a shell of it's former self.
The Herb has always said we have talent and should not be losing to these stiffs.
As long as Richt is calling the plays, as long as continue to neglect our O-Tackle situation, as long as we have the shanked brothers (Beagles & Slicer) punting and now we have none, zero, nada, zilch TE's available against Pitt, these games will be tight.
Have to make off season changes. Glad V.Tech threw us a bone and we are going to a dog bowl. It sucks but it's better than not going at all.
They all need to get their asses out there recruiting some dam stud lineman (Tackles) on both sides of the ball.
