It is over.
Yes, it is finally and officially over.
The 2018 college football season is over for your Miami Hurricanes.
The fat lady has sung and all that is left is the crying among UM fans.
With yet another embarrassing loss to an ACC opponent on the road, Mark Richt and company have sunken once again to new lows when an opportunity to right the ship presented itself in the game against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
This ship has been taking on water for a while, but is now run aground and has sunken to the bottom of the abyss. The salvage crews will be out in the morning to recover what is left of the wreckage of the churning hunk of burning junk.
Richt is not right; he is simply wrong.
His once hopeful song has faded away like so many others over his first three years of trying to write a ballad worthy of the Miami Hurricanes glorious past.
There is no more hope or joy or vision for the future other than more of the same old misery we have endured over the last three regimes.
The sooner it ends the less painful the breakup will be. Trust me.
End it now or carry the burning torch of pain with you for the next three years like the last guy did. The misery and malfeasance now carry on like a contagion into our DNA from our once lofty perch among college football greats.
It seems like the pain will never end for the Miami Hurricanes football team.
Well we can check MacIntosh off our wish list, he verbed to Georgia. Where do go from here. We once we're sitting in a pretty comfortable position for some good players, now one by one they are disappearing from our radar. Our pool of talented players were looking to close this class with has shrunk.

So let's see, we wanted to bring In 2 RB'S, why I don't know and we have exactly zero.
We wanted to bring in 2 TE'S and we have, well I guess we are supposed to call Hodges a TE at 6'1.5 and according to how u want to list him, we either need one or we have none.
We wanted to bring in one QB, uh we have none.
I believe 4 linemen and before the early period gets here we could have 2 or none.
We needed to bring in at least One WR but since Richards is done, now it's 2, we have one.
DB's at least 4 and we have 2.
After the early signing period it's pretty much who u can flip or which rock u can flip over and find a hidden gem.

As much as I respect Manny as a DC, I cant go along with what others are saying that he should be the HC after Richt. Why? Crooting.
In year 3, with one of the nations best Defenses.
Couldnt land the top SoFL DT (Ingraham) has missed consistently.
Couldnt land the top SoFL DE (Bogle) and has not been able to stack players there.
Could not land top CBs in any year ever, is struggling to hang on the 3* kids now, Good gone, Brownlee next. Didnt even offer some top guys.
Couldnt land top Safeties enough. Even 3*s like Nunn are bailing on him.
Got to be able to be able to croot SoFL to win here. Got to close the deal. I thought we'd be getting that in Richt, oh well.

Me to. If losing is acceptable to you, you deserve the wrath of fans that want you fired ASAP.
Everyone realizes you aren't going to win every game, but you go into every game with the mindset you will win that game.
The only thing I ever heard Lou Holtz
say that stayed with me was
"You don't have to be the best team in the country today, you only have to be the best team in the stadium."
We are playing like it's OK to lose because that has become the accepted norm around here. Spurrier would have a stroke with our offense playing for him.

Interesting note....for all of the end of the program gloom and doom here, when you compare Miami to the other Florida school that actually has some momentum....
2019 Recruiting:
Miami: 8 four star players, 7 three star players
Florida:8 four star players,7 three star players
Meanwhile Florida State has been an absolute disaster, and they're doing the best!
1 five star player and 13 four star players

1. We are not even the best team in Dade County.
2. The corpse is rotting from the head down.

Tony,
FSU has always done better than us and has done less with more. They absolutely stink worse than we do. They're crewts must be dumb to be sticking with them and ours must be smart for dumping us. Can't figure that one out.
The Herb knows this the offense recruiting better pick up quick, where the hell do we turn. Oh more 3 stars. One kid is verbed to App.St and we are going to the back burner plan. Can't tell u how pissed The Herb is at this point. Never thought the worm would turn this quick. It's like one of those Life Lock Commercials where the Senior states: I have fallen and can't get up. That's us.

True Herbie. What can each coach sell?
FSU - Jimbo left us with scraps. Come play here and you'll get instant playing time. In fact, I guarantee you the starting position!
Florida - We're on the right track - 7-3 in the mighty SEC and trending up for Year 2
Miami - ?

No surprises that the Canes lost its top 2019 recruits due to the current four straight losses in year three under CMR. Only a few wins to close out the season could stop the bleeding. It all starts this weekend. A win with RS Frosh Perry at VT and a win to close out the season at home against ACC Coastal Division Champion Pitt will go a long way towards helping the Canes keep most of its current recruits and pick up a few more recruits.

Plus no more hiring within!

100. Need an outside look, someone with pedigree, someone that understands you have to get the best assistants, and you have to croot. As AD, I'd be willing to pay Manny a bunch, but no way as HC, he needs too much help crooting.
Posted by: His Majesty The Dude on High | November 14, 2018 at 11:42 PM
My move as AD would be to pay Manny, and strip Richt of a bunch of power. Hire Yost & Popovich at a minimum. Move Banda to full time ST, helping Rumph at DB.
Posted by: His Majesty The Dude on High | November 14, 2018 at 11:44 PM
Richtless Bulldogs are averaging
37 points per game while giving up 15.
They have beaten three ranked teams in a row in the last three weeks by at least 14 points
Excuse the vomit in my mouth.

I am definitely a Canes fan, and hope is all I got right now. The Canes are not going to the ACC Championship or a major bowl this year; with two regular season games left, that has already been decided.
There still is not just hope - but a very realistic chance - that the Canes can finish the season on a three-game winning streak and capture some momentum going into the off-season and the recruiting trail.
I realize that many highly-sought-after local recruits are down on the program because the program has regressed in year 3 under CMR. I have some theories about why this happened (such as naming Rosier the starter early in Fall camp, poor offensive game-planning for each opponent adequately, favoritism among coaches/players, poor offensive line play/coaching, poor special teams play/coaching, etc.), but having freshman QB (Perry) who will hopefully show that he can win against Virginia Tech and Pittsburg (two Coastal Division foes) will help stem the tide and stop the bleeding on the recruiting trail.
Although it is possible that the Canes could lose the next two games, I think it is more likely that they win the remaining two games. They are actually favored by -5 1/2 to win in Blacksburg this weekend.
If the Canes win at Blacksburg, they should also be favored at home to close out the regular season. Then, a win in the bowl game against another 7-5 team will help.
There is a solid chance that Homer, Shaq and Pinkney and the other juniors will return for their senior seasons to improve their draft stock. Joe Jackson, projected as a first round pick, is probably gone, but Garvin and Rousseau are all coming back. Jeff Thomas is coming back.
A new offensive line coach is probably getting hired; hopefully, a new OC too. Cam Davis and Lingard should be given more carries, and younger WRs need to be developed.
There is hope coming back next season, especially if the Canes can put together a nice little streak to close out the season. Moreover, I am hopeful that CMR will make some coaching changes on offense and special teams.

Windy,
The Herb has been hoping for a long time and every comes and goes and it's the same old song and dance.
The solution is one of two things: either Richt fires some of his offensive staff and he doesn't want to, then somebody needs to spell it out for him in the either or. Either u make changes or we will have to let u go. That coversation should have already taken place.
What major University has had 3 four game losing streak in three years? Yes there are scum buckets teams that constantly lose but a team that has flirted with the top 25 all three years!
Posted by: Herbieibis | November 15, 2018 at 12:23 PM
Obviously, James won't publicly say he's going to force a change. Doesn't look good to the coach if he did.

I think I remember the same thing happening under the former coach...the excuse was "the players are not buying in"...hopefully Richt will hire an o coordinator to avoid the same result as goldilox .

Newsflash:
We lose both games left on our mediocre schedule. Richt SHOULD be fired immediately. Let me put it in perspective to those in the real world. I am a teacher and let’s say one year a majority of my students fail their end of grade tests. They would NOT renew my contract for the next year.
Posted by: Elliott | November 15, 2018 at 10:41 PM
Blake James' interview with Ivins just shows how pathetic he is as a leader. Football decisions at Miami need to be outside of the AD's hands and in the hands of a Butch Davis type or even an NFL GM.

Think we struggle in Bburg.
Guys are down, CMR seems to accept the fate of this season, the line is a mess as are STs.....wont matter who QBs.
Our hope will be the D; VT struggles on O.
Weather will be an issue as it will be mid 40s to start dropping into 30s at dark.
Hope for best all.

Canes are now a -6 point favorite at Blacksburg for the first time in many, many years. Hokies started the season ranked in the top 15, were embarrassed by Pitt last week, and are struggling in all three phases.
The Canes don't look good but I saw some signs of progress last week. I don't think the Canes players have given up on the season. First, Perry started which is a positive step. Second, the Canes overall played better against GT on the road at night, than they did the previous week at home against Duke. Third, Cam Davis showed me that he can play like a real RB at this level, especially if Homer is hurt and Deejay hasn't overcome his fumble problems (I always wondered why he and Lingard didn't get more reps this year because they are the two RBs on the Canes roster with more upside and an NFL future).
My prediction: Canes 34, VT 13

So how about something positive-Let’s start by beating the VT chickens.

well garbage in garbage out this is the Garbage Bowl. It could be 80 and sunny up there and we would feel cold.Put both teams in all white and you could not guess who was who regarding apathy and incompetency...
I am at home visiting my mom who is very very ill had a serious stroke. Normally I would be at the game as i know so many people here...and i would watch from heated box hell I am not crazy about the cold anymore either if i do not have to be in it good!
I am going to watch at home as it is not like seeing the great teams we have had....My guys finished regular season last night 8-0 again...and our game is far more sound regarding execution and fundamentals than the effort this year from all....hell my guys really want to win do not see that from CMR and Co...seems they forgot how to...or is it that the mental breakdown and bong hits have filtered down to all?
We will see what happens
Would like a win but who knows? Lets hope so....

That 95 yard drive against GT last week showed me some things. Players are saying Perry is getting “comfortable “ in playing QB. We will see tomorrow, but I have a good feeling about the Canes turning the corner a little. This could be the game where the Canes might inspire optimism for the future

By the way, Miami Central “flipped the script” on Carol City, and beat them in the playoffs. Lots a talent in the game. Canes need to win and close out the season on a positive note to help them with some of these recruits.
