Like everyone on the Canespace blog I have my moods. I have been the greatest optimist and the most dire pessimist at different times. In fact, over the last 14 years, I have probably had enough angst to last a lifetime.
But today, for some unknown reason, I am feeling generously optimistic.
I believe in this team because, well, because I suddenly want to, and I do.
As you watch the game think of this blog as I am making a BOLD prediction:
- The Miami Hurricanes offense will look like a well oiled, efficient machine versus Duke.
- The running game will get un-tracked racking up over 200 yards.
- The passing game will feature quick hitters and yards after catch and a few BIG plays.
- UM will score 34 points in easy fashion while holding the opposition down to 13 points.
- The "Turnover Chain" will be loud and proud during this game appearing three times.
- Miami will return a kick for a TD as special teams look special.
I believe in Coach Mark Richt and I believe in this team.
So prove me right or prove me wrong.
The optimist in me wants to see what you got!

This.
BC, Virginia, and Duke would trade players with us every day of the week and twice on Saturday!
Y'all keep thinking about talent to beat bama, and we're only talking about beating ACC COASTAL BASKETBALL TEAMS!

LOL, okay then...
VA, BC & Duke are all bringing better quality talent then. Coaching em up has nothing to do with it then. You just have to find all the gems that VA, BC & Duke are finding. You are quickly reaching scroll over opinion status.

If the offense would have been successful in moving the ball and scoring points then the entire team would get to the next level. But failure breeds a loss of desire and now it has spread thru the whole team. Rich needs to make the right choices ..not only bringing a spread guy but a guy who fits in with the coaching staff. We got to have a good qb...its like 70 percent of the success.

Posted by: Go Canes!! | November 06, 2018 at 01:59 PM
So this is where the Swag went
It’s the opposite of 2017’s results, where the Wolverines would play stellar defense, but find a way to lose with an offense that couldn’t sustain drives.
Now that the offense is clicking, players are out there having fun, and it shows. Just like those Miami teams did, there’s a level of trolling, taunting, and overall dismissal of what the opposition does that’s good coming into games like the three the Wolverines just played.

Scroll all you like. Sometimes it's easier than reading comprehension.
Bloggers are claiming that this year's team is more talented than last year's team and I'm simply asking where this additional talent is?

Defensively Willis has been the biggest 1st year impact player we’ve ever had.
Offensively think Jordan is more talented that Herndon but a lot more raw.
Can’t really think of any others. Defensively we’re so stacked it’s impossible for a young kid to get reps. Offensively, this play calling and horrid QB play stifles any breakout talent from shining through.
Posted by: Go Canes!! | November 06, 2018 at 02:31 PM
Dude I agree that these schools...and a lot of others are getting talent, some hidden talent like we used to get... but you still coach guys to be better.
I am talking about our sloppy techniques, apathy, bad stances..our lines suck, poor use of hands, cover technique...Fundamentals most kids do not have or are developed wrong ......on and on...you may have great talent coming from HS, but you also have bad habits that have to be curbed and relearned. Look at Saban and Urban....they get good talent but they have great staffs, agendas, and systems that mold good to great.....its a combination of both of these aspects.

Swap our corching staph with any other team in the Coastal and we would only have 1 loss at the most right now

No offense to all the great TEs that have come through Coral Gables, but in my view, Herndon is the one TE who I would keep a tape of and show every new freshman TE.
When you look at his blocking and route-running, Herndon played the TE position better than almost anyone I have seen play live. Njoku was good, but he couldn't block. Jordan is talented, but he is not a good blocker and I don't think he knows where to be on certain plays. Herndon knew the playbook and he knew his assignments. Herndon also knew other players assignments, and how to make adjustments during the play. Herndon made winning plays, whether catching, or blocking.
Let me put it this way - If I had to go to war with one Canes offensive player over the last ten years, I would want Herndon in that foxhole with me.

So. Maybe here’s a way to distract from the infantile back-n-forth of who said what and who’s a better fan, yada yada, plus the endless regurgitation that we wanted Butch and the AWfense suks as do the coaches.... got the message! LOL.
BigWindyCane1 says Herndon in the foxhole.
I say I want Lamar The Truth in my foxhole. Grit. Determination. Team.
Which Cane player from the LAST TEN YEARS ONLY - from the Offense - Do U want in YOUR foxhole??

The "U" football program is DEAD.
Richt is the final dagger. Like the young boy that stabbed Jon Snow last...
This ain't tv. There's no majic to resurrect the "U"
It's hoops season. We're a basketball school now. I'm ready to watch Coach L and Dewan do their thing. How about yall???

Let me see:
I've said CMR needs to give up play calling and hire a new OC and his son needs to be replaced.
I've said Malik is the worst QB we may have ever had here and from the outside Perry looks like a total knucklehead.
I've said the O line play is terrible. It's short on talent and very poorly coached.
How does that differ from anyone else here?
Maybe you and some others should take a look in a mirror.
If you haven't noticed I've seen Solar post a ton of thought provoking stuff about us, the big 3 and college football in general.
At this point I usually avoid responding because anything said is turned by a select few into "Blaming the players", " You secretly love Richt" or the classic "Breaking out the excuse machine"
Go back to a blog form 7-8 years ago. There was a ton of great interaction about all different topics by dozens of posters.
Now it's your resident psycopathic obsessive compulsive and the chronic liar turning everything into a conversation killing personal attack.
Have fun with that.

We still have a lot more talent than those teams... so that's on the coaches!

Defensive liability midget, Lawrence, Waardenburg, Izundu, and not Huell, I'll concede my beloved man to man scheme on defense to hide the midget at the top of the zone. Go get it as this is the last year you're playing with 2013 ACC title house money without some success to convince me you're still worth it.

No, it's on the players they inherited that are still playing like trash four and five years into their football failures on campus. The game is still predominantly what did you recruit five, four and three recruiting classes ago and how are they deployed? Smart Mark isn't holding the bag for two thirds of that, yet . . .

VA
I would take Rohan over any Cane ever for heart. I thought we had to pick guys from the last 10 years
My favorite two guys to watch,
Rohan
Morgan
Neither ever took a play off no matter how bad they were hurting.
Morgan was going to go back in the game and play barefoot one time.
Who does that now?
Posted by: solarcane | November 06, 2018 at 07:52 PM
Don't look now but we just shanked another punt.
Posted by: raizecane | November 06, 2018 at 07:52 PM
Kirby Freeman was the absolute worst QB. We've ever had. Hell he makes Rosey look like an all American.
Cameron Underwood for SBNation, really hammers home all the points we have made here on the blog.
Saying Richt needs to go find a spread QB.
Get a. O-Line coach.
Say so long to his son.
Blake James needs to help him make his mind up.
This needs to be done quick before the sun sets on our ass and this 2019 class, which sits at 22 drops to even lower depths and if this happens will be seeing the one thing I hate worse (under the radar)! We don't need no dam under the radar crewts.
It's obvious these linemen or should I say most are not pro style blockers, these QB's are not pro style QB's. To run a spread, we don't have anyone on staff who coaches it. We also don't have a college able punter.
It will be an absolute grind for us to win any of our remaining games, no matter how good our defense is.
We got Tech next and don't care how good we are on defense Tech will probably get at least 200 yds on the ground and that's a bad day for them.
We have no QB this cycle.
We have no RB this cycle.
One WR.
One TE, that is midget sized at 6'1.5.
2 O-Line, one of which will probably flip to Auburn.
What momentum we had and the excitement have all but faded. Unless some miracle happens we are in big trouble on the offensive side with this recruiting class and the worst of it is we still don't have but 2 players that are maybe true tackles and one of them Tarquin ain't here yet.

I respect your opinion, but Shockey was different. He blocked to clear the entire side, and was such a threat, not to mention his attitude personified those Canes teams.
