TonyCane

Miami's 13 points per game average in the last three games is the worst that a Canes offense has produced over a three game stretch since the 2007 season, where Randy Shannon's debut squad averaged 11 points per game over their last four games.

raizecane

For those thinking about attending the tech game,......be prepared for another loss. If your local to the area, enjoy the game. If you are traveling a long distance, take the money you are going to spend and donate it to a good cause instead......you will feel much better for it.

HAHA, it came about b/c he always looks and sounds disinterested. We were walking at the concessions at the stadium and saw the empanada stand.

Someone said: "He sounds like he is out of it"

Me: "Maybe he moved here for the Empanadas".

And so it became. Thank you, I will be here all season

Duke's radio broadcast was yelling for the flag during the play and you've got zero credibility because you whine about refs all the time during wins, so it's sad that you kneecapped your credibility when there's still no actual wolves to cry about.

Still not as sad as GD's performance this season though, so it's not all bad news.

This one hurts, but I think you are right - this could be a tough year for recruiting. It will be difficult to close strong. With early signing about 1 1/2 months away, recruits are committing to top programs earlier. The Canes will be lucky to finish in the top 25.

86Cane

I'll use the NBA as an example, as it is the closest in terms of dynastic sports. Since 1983 only ten teams have won an NBA title (Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, Spurs, Heat, Mavericks, Cavaliers, and Warriors). So if you a fan of Atlanta, Toronto, Milwaukee, or Charlotte - what hope do you have?

TonyCane

At this point in the season, players are reducing their effort to NFL Hall of Fame levels. After all, why get hurt for a completely lost cause?

I’d like to see a completely delusional Mark Richt come out at his next presser and announce that:

1) I am running a draw as my sole offensive play in each game for the next three years. It’s up to my team to execute it, and up to our opponents to try and stop it. After all, the solution to bad quarterback play is to simply remove the quarterback from the equation

2) Dare James Blake to try and get him to make a change. After all - he just signed an extension. “I own you Blake! I own Miami!”

86Cane

Neither. I did, however, tweet about CMR moving here for the empanadas

I am officially cutting the cord with the Canes. I will now only follow the Falcons, and English Premier League Soccer. Richt is sorry bro it’s very obvious we are not progressing. Like I said a week ago we will not WIN anymore games this year. 5-7 and NO bowl game. Again, is this enough to get him fired?

mi@mic@ne

it is practice tho for bama and the big schools.

mi@mic@ne

this is the truth .,.you ask anybody or even a ref...in the old days it was damn near impossible to get a call when the play decided the outcome...because there was no ref that wanted to decide who won the game...an old axiom of fairness no longer practice

mi@mic@ne

i will guarantee you if the catch was doogies and we were defending there would be no call...based on my hours of watching us play since we joined the acc ..if we suc we invite the calls but it depends upon the pressure and the teams...we were a dynasty when they decided when they called the interference to give osu the win

mi@mic@ne

I watched football all yesterday and I saw a lot worse push offs that were not called ...its sad..of you watch it with any desire to be fair..he had his hands on the guy and let loose to catch the ball..the push did not cause the d back to fall down

mi@mic@ne

I wished we could have heard all those private conversations after we kicked Nebraska's ass.....and what was said when we joined the ACC

mi@mic@ne

Remember when the money is there the people who go after it are not nice...lol when college football started bringing in big dollars it bought in private businesses....they did not get rich by being nice. its not like the old days..its now a protective corporate system

mi@mic@ne

Its the american way...you have millions on the line and they are gonna try to destroy the little guy...or in politics the other party

mi@mic@ne

They dont want the problems...and now since we are guaranteed money from the acc win or lose they dont care.

mi@mic@ne

The board does not want to deal with the problems that come from bringing in good players who need help with their courses. And the U being a small university who beats up on the big boys will bring in a lot of off field problems. We had the rule changes on celebration...we were accused of rule violations when all our players did was go to the nite clubs...Butch brought in the motha load of first rounders and we did a beat down on big Nebraska....because of our success we were investigated by the NCAA for a longer time than any of the big schools. It was all trumped up. Then we get into the ACC and the refs make calls at critical times in the game so they decide that we lose. The interference call last nite in the rain storm last nite was a judgement call. It basically ended our chances of a tie. The truth is that we are hated because of our 5 to 6 ncs and the egg heads dont want to hire good football coaches like Butch because they do it their way by recruiting good talent .

VA Cane

You can run some pro set, but the time has come to change the approach....its all about attack now. I still want old school hard mean D, and to run it as well...but you got to get caught up with the times.
You can run pro in small college HS etc....but the game has changed now....as we need to do as well.

VA Cane

Richt was named the Walter Camp National Coach of the Year and the ACC Coach of the Year after leading the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record in 2017. The 10 victories were the most since 2003. He has a 19-7 record in his first two seasons at UM.

Richt is one of the most successful coaches in college football, having come to Miami after 15 seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs. His overall record is 164-58.

All this is nice....very much like Beamer. Lots of numbers, no titles.
In football at any level only one thing really counts; winning titles. Division and conference are nice sound good....and got to get there to be in the big game...but NC is all i want.
Dont care about All Americans, 4.2 40s, High school All Americans, stats or any bowl game when it gets down to it....Must win the big one, bring it home.
We have 5, should have 6, and played for 5 that we were woefully unprepared for...5 bad losses!
Still the NC is all that matters; CMR has nice stats...thats all....no big incredible accomplishments such as NC! Yes All Americans, guys to NFL, 2 SEC titles, 6 SEC East titles, 9 bowl games at GA...Coastal title, bowl game here...nice stats but NC is the goal!

Remember what Stalin said about stats....“If only one man dies of hunger, that is a tragedy. If millions die, that’s only statistics.”
We got lots of stats.
I watched some of the game, and it was messy in the rain...but Duke had to play in it too. It was bad football in bad weather....another tough game with the road ahead cloudy and dark I think...we looked rough even with the rain.
We still got the Techs and Pitt...could be rough!

That's #1 on the list! #2 A innovative OC... anything short of that just start watching Canes on the hardwood and embrace the fact we're a basketball school now!

At least felonious sex-assault university has to continue to act like they play football for a few more weeks, that'll help the sid-tard GD console himself as he wipes his stream of tears from his eye while he hopes they can rally to keep that almost dead bowl streak intact.

Pro style is dead to Miami, you got to be able to recruit elite OLmen for that. We need to embrace the offense that has taken over CF, and is a perfect fit for Miami area talent... the spread. Its been long enough. West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Clemson, etc. Thats the direction we need to go. Demote Jon to an analyst and hire an OC. Give the OC power to make staff changes and let him decide on the OL coach, the RB, TEs and WR coaches.

We need a pro-style QB who can run a pro-style offense.
Yes, a pro-style QB who may in fact be drafted by a pro-team (which makes UM an even more attractive destination for top-ranked QB recruits).
And we need to widen the recruiting net for OL and DL recruits well beyond the so-called State of Miami.

When the CANES basketball team was in the "hunt", a few years back, it was so damn fun watching them on tv and cheering them on. It seemed more fun, more action, lovin' Larranaga, more excitement. Maybe we will be blessed again. No more RICHTtttttt for me. Such a pansy, and I hate to guess what the payout would be to get rid of him. OR, get a new guy, keep paying Richt, make him stay on the sideline like the real deal, even though he would be just an overpaid coach hanging around. Maybe he would leave, quit, whatever, if he got embarrassed enough. Money isn't everything. He would have to stand there, rich but embarrassed.
You get what I am trying to say. What do the ol'timer greats have to say today?

When the playing surface is rainy and wet, the closer to the point where the ball is spotted a player plays the more it negates athletic superiority in favor of fundamental soundness at the point of attack, the perfect recipe for a basketball school's football team.

Once you add in a QB advantage on top of the conditions and special teams continuing to throw points on the field like they're infected with sid-tardation talking points to justify losses and that's enough to do something that hasn't happened in my lifetime. What a shit-show, all around, three phase failure two weeks in a row.

Orgeron's an untreated drunk imo and is the most overrated head coach currently working in college football, keep him far away from Miami as anything other than a positional guy, if at all.

Hey, at least Fake Lames will gin up some laughable talking points for GD to try and spin as a positive during a forgettable at best November this season in a few hours, that'll be worth the price of a typepad login help ticket for sure Hurricane football fans! Get to spinning GD.

Posted by: mi@mic@ne | November 04, 2018 at 09:46 AM

If college football collapses in the future it will be driven be three things:

1) CTE concerns that become politicized
2) The next recession creates terrible political optics for some states - where students are struggling to put together the loans necessary to pay for still escalating tuition costs, you have coaches making up to $10M per year and an isolated campus elite - the players - have have special buildings and special privileges
3) Alabama's complete domination. It has gotten to the point that I can say with near certainty that the Crimson Tide's next window of opportunity to lose a game is in 2020 - after Tua goes pro. And as good as Clemson is, they will lose by 30 to Alabama when they face them yet again in the playoffs. This level of dominance - where all of the elite talent goes to one school - is bad for the conference and for the sport. It ultimately kills interest, because the outcome is predetermined.

Dabo hired Brent Venables and then had a great defense too. I like him as a head coach - he knew he needed help there and hired it. I think we as fans have been patient - this is year 3 and we are looking at 5-7. Our HC doesn't look like he puts much planning into much, we look unprepared in more aspects than one. He needs to give up the OC gig and get after/spend time with/pay attention to the quarterbacks because they look/are/play LOST.
When they showed the scores at the game for other teams, everyone is scoring points, but us. Ugh.

Golden - now that is funny. First thing he would do is fire Manny and coach the D like he did before. Big fat NO here.

Goodmorning! Yeah the game stunk. Solar, it poured, but it is partially covered so where I was sitting was no problem. Fans booed CMR when they showed him onthe jumbotron LOL. There were people booing but it is directed at starting and staying with #12. Perry was cheered initially because it signaled that maybe, just maybe, CMR acknowledges there is a change that needs to be made. Unfortunately the change is him. Perry is not the answer, clearly.

There was a good turnout for the game. Nice to see Raize and meet Mrs. Raize and also Kenny, KYCane and Mrs. KYCane.

To me it was a very familiar story was the point I was trying to make.
I don't know if cmr will be here next year or for ten years but I am almost certain he won't be calling plays.

Is N'Kosi Perry really a potent "dual threat" QB - with a "high ceiling"? I don't think so.
He isn't a particularly good runner. And he certainly in no Brad Kaaya when it comes to tossing the rock.
And, physically, he is too skinny to be a durable power five QB. Indeed, his weight is closer to 165 than 195.
Give me a tall, strong, QB - who can accurately PASS the ball to speedy wide receivers - and let the running backs RUN with the ball.
THAT is UM football. Not this "dual threat" crap.

It certainly does and last night weather was a factor. But that was unwatchable football.

Both QBs looked completely lost, had zero confidence and the offense looked flat for giant portions of the game.

Justin Fuente, a supposed offensive guru, is hearing it too. But you watch their offense and it looks far better than ours.

No, doesn’t sound familiar at all. We’ve never been competitive in any game against the upper talents of college football. At least they were competitive vs good FSU and an outstanding Auburn team. We can’t even beat Duke.

Terrance Sullivan

We Suck! That is All!

Old Skool

Damn. This season's been a cliff dive.

solarcane

Does this sound familiar?

In 2010, Swinney led Clemson to a 6–6 (4–4 in ACC) regular season. Of the 6 losses in the 2010 season, 5 were by less than 10 points and 4 were by 6 points or less. The season included close losses to Cam Newton and the eventual national champion Auburn Tigers (27–24 on the road in OT), and the eventual division champion Florida State Seminoles (16–13 on a 55-yard, time-expiring field goal on the road). After the conclusion of the regular season, many fans called for the firing of both Swinney and athletic director Terry Don Phillips.[11] Swinney would say years later he expected to be fired after the regular season ended with a loss to South Carolina.[14] Don Phillips instead gave Swiney a vote of confidence and allowed him to return for the 2011 season.[15] Discontent with Swinney grew even more after a bowl loss to South Florida made Clemson's final record 6-7, Clemson's first losing season since 1998. Swinney, who was 19-15, entered the 2011 season widely considered to be a coach on the hot seat.[16] Despite a disappointing 6–7 record, the 2010 team featured one of the nation's top defenses and the Bronko Nagurski and Ted Hendricks award winner, Da'Quan Bowers.

BEERicane

Though Rosier held players available for poor execution, he seemed to question the coaching in a postgame interview with WQAM on Saturday when he said: “We’ve got to learn to change when other people change, not give people the same look.”

Daaaaaamn - though be sucks as a player, Rosier with a sick burn there. Love it!!

Just saw this morning that a Division 3 punter named Austin Baker from Heidelburg University hit a punt 95 yards,60 yards in the air. He is an All American but its D-3 folks. Our punters can barely punt it 30 yards in the air and those are their good kicks. Sad state of affairs regarding this program right now.

AeroCane

1last thing:
Some of you on here have tried to compare richt to Dabo: there’s NO comparison; sure it took Dabo a number of years to get Clemson to where they are now BUT Dabo was in his first HC gig at Clemson; we hired an experienced HC and paid him well to come in and win and compete; he’s doing neither

On that note and I’m very torn: my daughter is being ‘recruited’ very hard to university of Alabama law; they are flying us up today thru Tuesday, taking care of rental car, hotel etc; not yet serious but we will see; I’m very proud of her as she got full scholarships to both UF and FSU law and REJETED both;

AeroCane

PS I have no doubts that if we played FSU, uf, Ucf, we lose to all;
A team that digresses is a team that needs to fire their coach! Nebraska would crush us and they are like 2-6

AeroCane

I think only WW agreed with me weeks ago: it’s clear this guy doesn’t have ‘it’; we are losing recruits, we can’t get elite recruits (except far and in between); guys will start transferring;
Like in business: cut your losses, take a step or 2 back to move leaps and bounds forward;
Fire this Georgia reject and let’s move on;
I say make manny the interim HC and bring on a HC who: will hire aggressive and in the 21st century with their schemes coordinators; wont call his own plays; and won’t hire family;
JUST DO IT!
Canespace friends: we’ve lost to pitt, va, BC and duke within the last 12 games; FIRE mark ‘loser’ richt!

Lane Kiffin OC & HCiW at 2.0 Million a year. He's a splash hire, fixes recruiting right away, and we'll win on the field too. Have to keep Manny also, fire/force retire Richt after a couple of seasons.

TonyCane

Realistically, would Miami buy him out? The trend lines are absolutely horrid. Once a program loses hope, they lose recruits and you get a death spiral. Or are we stuck with Richt until 2023, or until we get a year where the Hurricanes score a seasonal total of under 100 points.

In retospect, Brad Kayaa made the right call in leaving. Richt would not tailor his offense enough to fit his skill set, and Brad went from a potential first rounder to a late round pick based on his performance. Had he stayed another year, he would have gone undrafted.

IraqiCane

I don’t see how money can be the issue with the amount that they get from the ACC and ESPN.

Herbieibis

Tony, I'll tell u what's at the bottom of the barrel, it's this football team. We have officially hit rock bottom, as have FSU and The Crocs aren't far behind. Not a dam QB worth a shot at all 3 schools or one offensive coordinator.

I just pray that the influential boosters and members of the administration get together and put up the money to not only buyout Richt but also hire a top coach AND top staff. Its not my money to spend so I can only hope that the folks with the money and power in this program
take action and fix this mess. Richt may have been a very good coach in the past but his time has passed. The passion, desire, and drive to succeed are not there along with a stubborn refusal to make the necessary changes to move the program forward. Just a very depressing time right now being a fan and alum.

His Majesty The Dude on High

Make Lane Kiffin highest paid OC in CF, give him complete say over coaches on O, make him HCiW. Retain Diaz & staff. Officially time to strip Richt of all power and force him out.

Just when you think you've reached the bottom of the barrel, you lift it up and find that there's a whole new level of vermin and yuck beneath it.
