Go Canes!!

Posted by: WWIN | November 05, 2018 at 09:22 PM

Good God, another minute another lie.

The only thing I posted that had to do with the Canes there show the team UNDERrachieving, which it is.

How is that making excuses?

It's not. And I wasn't.

The offensive coaching has been horrendous. Richt has to hire a creative offensive mind. The playcalling has been unimaginative, too conservative and isn't putting the players in a position to win.

Does any of that look familiar?

Of course it doesn't because you ignore it when I post those things.

So you can do what you do best, twist and lie.

Go Canes!!

People on Twitter don't know what you're talking about either... but keep being blind!

At least one Florida coach had the guts to can himself as an OC. Taggert handed over play calling duties to Walt Bell. Hate FSU and could careless if they win another game but at least he gets what's best for his team and he admitted it gave him the chance to help in other areas.

VA Cane

Well put DTX...there are none really...but you start looking to places that are creating offense...dynamic pushing the envelop...moving the ball....CMR is not doing that.
He seems lost, just casual....ok with things.
I would say its not just him...its our losing culture from Clap, Onion, and AlPa...we have no clue how to win....and CMR does not either!....its very puzzling and hard to figure it out!

I was going to wait until the end of the year to pull that trigger on Jon-boy out of deference to the miracle working he and the old man were able to summon up last year with Trick-or-treat Malik, but if they choke another game or if Pitt doesn't lose an extra one while Miami suddenly runs the table, I guess we can just get an early start on sniping out the stupidity that always is nepotism wherever we find it in the football coaching box, sure, why not?

From a GT article up here

Miami, on the other hand, is struggling and struggling mightily. The Hurricanes are losers of three straight after starting the season off 5-1. The Hurricanes are a mess offensively especially at quarterback and it seemingly appears to have no end in sight. The Yellow Jackets defense will have to take advantage of the dumpster fire that is Miamis offense

VA - this is the problem if U r the decision maker.... there isnt a college HC resume that says hes the man excepting Saban and Meyer. Who else has won NCs at different schools? Expand the list to include HCs with a single NC (or multiple but at same school).... what names now? Dabo, Jimbo... thats it, for active coaches (excluding NFL). Id take Dabo in a NY second, but must say that the record of success for retread HCs isnt great. Saban & Urban are exceptions to the rule. Saban being in historic company re: # of NCs. And weve thrown the dice now three times - twice on highly regarded assistants and once on the hot up & comer.

Im 100% in on the need for changes. I might even be in for a replacement depending on who that person might be. But saying that, there is never a guarantee and if looking for a NC resume, well U only find those in hindsight. I think (Am I really?) Smart Mark will have one more season to get this train on track... get all these freshmen & sophomores experienced and looking something like D1/MIAMI football players before we take a flier on the next guy. Miami football is one of America's great programs. As such, we started this campaign with high standards, standards which we have not met, and will not meet this season. This is unacceptable for everyone involved, including of course myself, our coaching staff and most importantly our players and fans. We here in the athletic department share your frustration and can assure you, that like you, we are fully committed to winning at The U. I want to make it clear that Miami's administration is already evaluating this seasons failures and are developing various strategies for changes going forward and our coaching staff will be join us at the season's completion. It is critical that Miami starts winning again and that our coaching staff focuses on that process along with recruiting until we reach our evaluation period. Please Miami Hurricane fans and players, stick with us, you are the backbone of this team, lets try our best to stay positive and work together for the remainder of this campaign. Youve done done your part and deserve better results. Miami Hurricanes Football promises that we will strive to meet our expectations. Love you all. #CanesFam

Yes, the talent added to the team is young and they are getting schooled on Saturday.

BigWindyCane1

Not that it matters much when your offense is pathetic, but the Canes defense is at the top among the national leaders:
#1 - Tackles for loss
#1 - Third down defense
#2 - Total defense
#2 - Passing defense

The Canes are also #6 in interceptions, and top 20 in scoring defense and other categories.

This is a legitimate elite defense. I don't recall ever seeing a Canes team with a defense this good losing so many games.

mi@mic@ne

we also lose in the field position battle..bad punting and they get success on a few first downs in a drive

mi@mic@ne

It looks like the d comes out motivated but the o is a flat tire. I do not think we are getting what we should out of our team. The teams in the acc have become familiar with what we do. They know that we can be burned with the trick plays.. They know that since our o is not scoring that it only takes a couple of successful trick plays to get the win. Last year we were complaining that Rosier could not win the game or be consistent in our passing game. Together with having to depend upon us coming back with a big play on the o...and the teams scoring on a few trick plays the odds have turned against us.

TonyCane

What I was thinking about this morning is...what has changed? Did Richt completely fall apart? Has our offensive line really deteriorated that badly? What is it that has made our offense this impotent?

Whats changed since last year? While Rozier is the constant, weve lost Richards at WR. Weve lost Herndon at TE. Running backs are essentially the same, except that we have more depth. We have more youth at OL.

Its baffling to me that we are this bad. I mean, we had the same schemes and same QB last year and started out 10-0. We never were averaging 13 points a game.

CMR will have to make some big changes among offensive coaches and philosophy. It is obvious that offensive line has under-performed all season, but I don't see any offensive position group that is performing well this season.

A coach like Jedd Fisch could help. One of the big issues with these QBs is understanding what the defense is giving you, and also the mechanics are poor or inconsistent. This is basic QB coaching.

Communication is an important factor in coaching. It seems that Jedd Fisch did a great job communicating with his QBs, and teaching them how to execute plays. Jedd's offensive schemes didn't wow me, but he seemed to know how to teach his players how to understand the game and to execute.

I don't think Manny Diaz will leave for a Head Coaching job this season. Although his position group has performed well, the program is not winning and that hurts his chances, unless he is willing to take a small college job or a lateral DC position, which would not be a good thing for the Canes program.

mi@mic@ne

the coaches probably dont even write up the schemes they use in the booth and on the side lines..lol ..its the quality control team..lol

The time has come for Miami freshman QB Jarren Williams to play. When will it happen?

BY SUSAN MILLER DEGNAN
sdegnan@miamiherald.com

ovember 04, 2018 01:03 PM
Bring in Jarren Williams but when?

Among all the other facts you can muster about two-thirds of the University of Miami football team (not including the defense) being a colossal disappointment, heres one that will surely be addressed by the coaching staff this week: allocation of playing time for true freshman quarterback Williams.

The new NCAA redshirt rule allows true freshmen to play in all or parts of four games and still maintain their four remaining seasons of eligibility. Williams, whom fans cant see soon enough, has already played sparingly in one game, thus leaving him only three more to burn in order for him to have four more full seasons, beginning in 2019, in which to compete.

The Canes (5-4, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), who fell to Duke 20-12 at home Saturday in another sad performance, play at 7 p.m. Saturday against Georgia Tech (5-4, 3-3); at Virginia Tech (4-4, 3-2) on Nov. 17; and at home against Pitt (5-4, 4-1) in the Nov. 24 regular-season finale.

They need a victory against one of those three opponents to earn a bowl game.

Should Williams play on Saturday at Georgia Tech? Or should coach Mark Richt wait a week and play him in the final two regular-season games and then, if the Canes qualify, in the bowl game?

And, if Williams plays Saturday and does well, which game, then, would coaches choose to sit him? Surely not in the only home game left, when the fans would be giving him plenty of support against Pittsburgh in that regular-season finale.

Williams obviously wouldnt start, but just get enough playing time to acclimate him to college football, get him more prepared for next season and hopefully give him some confidence.

Williams, a strong-armed 6-2, 210-pound former consensus four-star prospect considered one of the best and brightest new signal callers to enter college football this season, is from Lawrenceville (Georgia) Central Gwinnett High.

An Army All-American his senior year in high school, Williams completed 62 percent of his passes last year and threw for more than 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

His lone appearance this season came in the home opener on Sept. 8 against Savannah State, when he threw three times and completed one pass for 17 yards. He also ran twice, once for a 2-yard touchdown.

Malik Rosier, UMs senior starter for six of his seven games this season, has completed 77 of 144 passes (53.5-percent accuracy) for 1,007 yards and six touchdowns, with five interceptions. He also has a team-high six rushing touchdowns.

I dont believe in grad transfers. I think you have to grab the cream every year, along with a about 6 kids that dont mind a redshirt. For example Nunn is an elite athlete, but only a 3*. He could develop into a very nice S, and would essentially be an elite freshman prospect next year. A perfect S class would look like Stevenson or Battle, Smith & Nunn. Of course that wont be happening, in fact recruiting will likely head the other direction now while we "wait to see how this all plays out." I dont mind 3* kids, if theyre clearly talented and are willing to redshirt, Jaquan, Ford (should have redshirted but Miami didnt get two 4*s), Young (should have been a redshirt guy), Nunn this year, Brownlee this year, Burns. All are quality projects.

We better hope these LB'S their bringing in can play. Soloman needs to add some weight before he can contribute. Other than our 3 Jr. backers there isn't a whole lot of talent and Macloud hasn't done much this year. We can't recruit certain positions every other year or wait until we are woefully thin at certain positions to go full bore and bring 3 or 4 guys. We need to hit every position every year and stock pile talent, not reaches or under the radar types, that's what grad transfers are for. Thank goodness we have a jucco punter coming in because we are good awful.

Well when u play like a shyt show and u call Pop Warner plays, I guess is the end result.
As The Herb stated a while back that the writing on the wall was there before our very eyes, when our 2019 verbs were ranked anywhere from 18 to 20. U don't bring in a number 8 class in 2018 and follow it up with a 20. Plus it is loaded with 3 star jewels.
We have to find a QB. Perry ain't it. Don't know about Weldon or Williams. Weldon can't get out of his own way.
We have talent but not depth of it at alot of positions.
Jordan is a manchild. U can't rely on freshmen no matter how talented because of the growing pain factors plus getting use to the intricacies of college football. Most are not physically ready to contribute right away on a semi full time basis. With our depth of talent issues Ayers better suited to redshirt are playing but not a lot but enough to blow a year.
Our oLine talent has not been developed or they we're just plain over rated or we took what we could get. We have to many space takers not contributing or Searles just plain can't coach but it's probably both.
We have a ton of WR's but other than Thomas, who is a go to guy?
We only have 2 upper class guys, Cager and Langham.

DJ and Homer are above average backs but are not great to elite but who could be with that O-Line plus the ay calling.
No way, any of these teams in the Coastal should be on the field with us, period. But safe plays and little to know imagination in those calls has us looking like sitting ducks to every Dee coordinator we play against. They have to be licking there chops.
This has been nothing but a shameful exhibition of how to blow a season on almost every level, except thank God for our defense or we truly would be atrocious!

Go Canes!!

Think everyone on that thread makes vaild points. It's not one thing or another, it's all of it.

We have a well below average, far too conservative coordinator trying to run and offense through a QB that's a week in week out net negative, being blocked for by an inexperienced and/or medicore offensive line.

The whole thing is an unmitigated disaster than will only be fixed if we address all parts of it. Richt HAS to hire a new cooridnater who can overachieve when we're just ok then dominate when we're good and we must get better players at QB and on the OL.

GO Canes...If U read that thread it simply states what we all have said and already know. It just confirms what we all know to be true and it sucks. And I agree with every word of the fans response to a completely ridiculous even ludicrous position by the sports writer.
