pro football is becoming like pro wrestling... the qbs are the stars who can only be wrestled to the ground in a theatrical way determined by the nfl...all the tackling is scripted now..lmao corporations protecting their interest..Mariano would have played until he was 45

mi@mic@ne

the old beat down culture is gone..we used to punish the other teams by vicious head shots....they would be worthless for the rest of the game..now when the 4th q comes no one is hurting from the jarring hit...football now is all about spreading the field like Canada and creating lanes...the receivers dont fear the defenses...

Old Skool

Love it!

Appearing on New York's WFAN, former offensive lineman David Diehl said Raiders coaches used to give Russell blank tapes to determine if he was studying film.

Diehl noted Russell would come into the Raiders' facilities the day after receiving the tapes saying that he watched the blitz packages.

Old Skool

BTW They're referring to Jamarcus Russell

Florida, some of the most overachieving high school teams, and underachieving college teams.
With the exception of National Champion UCF of course.

mi@mic@ne

florida high school players are used being coached hard...rich being laid back and expecting them to motivate themselves is not a good fit

The current state of affairs for the Big 3 is something I never thought I’d see.

The most incredible part is all three have been ranked in the Top 10 at some point of the last three seasons.

mi@mic@ne

we tripled our blue chips and we are playing worse than when we had 5 ...tell you something?

TonyCane

What I was thinking about this morning is...what has changed? Did Richt completely fall apart? Has our offensive line really deteriorated that badly? What is it that has made our offense this impotent?

What’s changed since last year? While Rozier is the constant, we’ve lost Richards at WR. We’ve lost Herndon at TE. Running backs are essentially the same, except that we have more depth. We have more youth at OL.

It’s baffling to me that we are this bad. I mean, we had the same schemes and same QB last year and started out 10-0. We never were averaging 13 points a game.

mi@mic@ne

It looks like the d comes out motivated but the o is a flat tire. I do not think we are getting what we should out of our team. The teams in the acc have become familiar with what we do. They know that we can be burned with the trick plays.. They know that since our o is not scoring that it only takes a couple of successful trick plays to get the win. Last year we were complaining that Rosier could not win the game or be consistent in our passing game. Together with having to depend upon us coming back with a big play on the o...and the teams scoring on a few trick plays the odds have turned against us.

mi@mic@ne

we also lose in the field position battle..bad punting and they get success on a few first downs in a drive

BigWindyCane1

Not that it matters much when your offense is pathetic, but the Canes defense is at the top among the national leaders:
#1 - Tackles for loss
#1 - Third down defense
#2 - Total defense
#2 - Passing defense

The Canes are also #6 in interceptions, and top 20 in scoring defense and other categories.

This is a legitimate elite defense. I don't recall ever seeing a Canes team with a defense this good losing so many games.

Think that, along with the poor play calling, are major contributors to this disaster.

We’re giving significant reps to as many as half a dozen freshmen on any given play.

His Majesty The Dude on High

F*ck,

Waiting to see how this thing plays out has got kids real shaky.

Brownlee & Nunn are looking...

Fail by Miami, again. Miami has very, very poor leadership and has for years. They have no idea what to do right now, deer in headlights again. Miami must announce something with the staff ASAP. This is a several years setback right now.

Miami lets these things spiral out of control. Crisis management is the worst. And then theyll tell their fans, the ones that are still here, "dont be a fan later." LMMFAO.

I dont mean to be a reactionary here, but right now we are watching Miami Football's death rattle. Admin must be replaced because theyve proven time and time again that they dont know what they are doing. Bama, FU, UGA are going to sink their teeth into the '19 kids.

Bama and UGA are already practically full and UF just benched their starting QB while getting spanked by 20 at home by a .500 Missouri team. Defensively they’ve looked mediocre for three straight weeks.

Things are terrible brother, but I think the death rattle may be a little premature.

If I'm AD:

Miami football is one of America's great programs. As such, we started this campaign with high standards, standards which we have not met, and will not meet this season. This is unacceptable for everyone involved, including of course myself, our coaching staff and most importantly our players and fans. We here in the athletic department share your frustration and can assure you, that like you, we are fully committed to winning at The U. I want to make it clear that Miami's administration is already evaluating this seasons failures and are developing various strategies for changes going forward and our coaching staff will be join us at the season's completion. It is critical that Miami starts winning again and that our coaching staff focuses on that process along with recruiting until we reach our evaluation period. Please Miami Hurricane fans and players, stick with us, you are the backbone of this team, lets try our best to stay positive and work together for the remainder of this campaign. Youve done done your part and deserve better results. Miami Hurricanes Football promises that we will strive to meet our expectations. Love you all. #CanesFam

That death rattle’s been shaking for a decade+ unless 7-5 or 8-4 is your idea of success. News flash... this job has been a full ressurect job since Randy’s Boys from NW failed. Gotta hope for some changes as, historically, middle to bottom of the pack better describes our beloved Canes and the dynasty years continue to become more of an abberration than a standard...

Sure....We do not have a dynamic forward thinking motivating coaching staff.
the young excuse is just that...an excuse...we should be getting better especially if our coaches are coaching young guys out of old bad habits and errors and developing execution and aggression....we are getting worse not better.

What current coach has the following record from 2010 - current? -

8 5
8 5
12 1
9 4
8 5

Guess the point I am trying to make is firing CMR may not be the answer but philosophy has to change. This includes hiring a new QB coach and play caller....

VA - this is the problem if U r the decision maker.... there isn’t a college HC resume that “says he’s the man” excepting Saban and Meyer. Who else has won NC’s at different schools? Expand the list to include HC’s with a single NC (or multiple but at same school).... what names now? Dabo, Jimbo... that’s it, for active coaches (excluding NFL). I’d take Dabo in a NY second, but must say that the record of success for retread HC’s isn’t great. Saban & Urban are exceptions to the rule. Saban being in historic company re: # of NC’s. And we’ve thrown the dice now three times - twice on highly regarded assistants and once on the “hot up & comer”.

I’m 100% in on the need for changes. I might even be in for a replacement depending on who that person might be. But saying that, there is never a guarantee and if looking for a NC resume, well U only find those in hindsight. I think (Am I really?) Smart Mark will have one more season to get this train on track... get all these freshmen & sophomores experienced and looking something like D1/MIAMI football players before we take a flier on the next guy. Just an opinion

From a GT article up here

Miami, on the other hand, is struggling and struggling mightily. The Hurricanes are losers of three straight after starting the season off 5-1. The Hurricanes are a mess offensively especially at quarterback and it seemingly appears to have no end in sight. The Yellow Jackets defense will have to take advantage of the dumpster fire that is Miami’s offense

DallasTX Cane

LOL Solar. I don’t think the GT defense will have to do much other than avoid stepping on their own shoes. Our O will take care the rest for them.

That's easy:

1. The QB coach sucks.
2. The OC sucks.
3. The OL coach sucks.
