This is the story of the once infamous, yet soon to be famous, Canespace blogger TruCane81. You see this wise and creative man came up with the name for the University of Miami Defense. He called it: "The Pillage".
We added "The Plunder". But for a real and true definition let us be clear:
'Plunder' refers to the roving of soldiers through recently conquered territory in search of money and goods. 'Pillage' describes the act of stripping a conquered city or people of valuables. As pirates are not soldiers, they would now pillage, but as they are soldier-like they could also plunder.
The Miami Hurricanes defense under the highly competent direction of Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz has been nothing short of spectacular this season. They have pillaged and plundered early and often.
We like that. Yes, we like that a lot.
As in the pirate days when the rogue warriors would simply pillage and plunder whatever they wanted from whoever they wanted whenever they wanted with no questions asked. This is exactly what the UM defense did this year.
With an offense struggling to even have a pulse, the defense has carried this team to where it is today. Not the lofty perch we all once wished for but the current favorable two-game win streak that not only made Miami bowl eligible but even praise worthy.
And all this is spite of a horrid offense coached by an incompetent coordinator with a useless offensive line coordinator and a QB coach as his son. Yeah, I said it and I don't in the least bit regret it. That waste of needless and wasted offensive energy needs to move on and much sooner rather than later.
Tonight or even tomorrow would be just fine for most 'Canes fans.
If not for "The Pillage" (and The Plunder) Miami could easily be 3-9. Instead, thanks to the defense we salvaged a 7-5 season in a weak ACC division.
Simply put, in 2018 we got lucky. But lucky ain't going to cut it going forward.
Scoring points is what we need and what Mark Richt is not good at.
The time for change is near. In fact, on offense, it is here right now.
it takes THREE years to transition away from an option offense. A new offense will need to recruit wide receivers....
Not
If Clemsons OC goes to GT he has a boatload of SC and Georgia high school kids on radar.
With his offense GT will have to learn to pass block, and that shouldn't take three-years unless you have e a big U on your helmet
Tech gets another Calvin Johnson they will flourish.

Or if your OL coach at GT doesn't completely suck like the one at UM does? Just maybe?
Posted by: SOUP | November 28, 2018 at 10:57 PM
Atlanta is FULL of talent. They just have all been leaving because of the triple option at GT and three yards and a cloud of dust. Just wait until they have a competent head coach, OC and major recruiter. Wish we had some of those?

Good thing such players come along once or twice a generation. There’s only 1 current team in all the Land doesn’t need a Calvin Johnson...

You are 100 percent correct.
There are a ton of good high school quarterbacks and in Georgia, very few want to run the option.

Good morning
It’s clear we are being passed up with ancient and no passion Mark Richt!
It’s also clear his son can’t coach nor recruit! Wow, we are screwed! Why don’t we fire MR and hire the OC from Clemson!

Looks like the Women's Tennis Team and Men's Tennis Team will be at home on the weekend of February 22-24. along with Men's and Women's Basketball. I might have to be back in Miami on back 2 back weeks lol.

Elliot would be a good fit at GT, and I think it would only take a season to really turn them around. All he really needs is a QB and his OL to stay healthy. There's plenty of quality talent up there, and much of Clemson's & GT's concepts will mesh okay. Quality hire for GT, they got to get him coaches though.

U want to know how u stay on top: 20 four stars and 1 five star, so far and that's Bama's verbals to date. Dam I grew up a Bama fan, that is until Bear Bryant was gone.

Klingsbury to USC as OC

Butch recruits won with Clappy. Basically the coached themselves. Miami is a perfect fit. The 305 players love playing for Butch.Richt would do better at UNC. Terrible fit in Miami.
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 04:31 PM
Butch is not gonna get 4 star recruits at FIU That's just a silly comparison.
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 04:35 PM
Yawn he still got 1 10 win season in 12 years. Excuses are for losers.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | November 29, 2018 at 04:37 PM
If 305 had a choice between butch and saban they would pick miami
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 04:38 PM
LOL Lane Kiffin Got 2 10 win seasons in his 6 and a half year College Coaching Career to Butch 1 in his 12 College Coaching Seasons but keep on bloviating lmbao.

The 305 only travel because the grape vine has more to do with their decision than you think. We've had coaches who are not liked. Mostly because they are not successful.
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 04:46 PM
As I recall all you all agreed with me when they hired Richt. Fair whether fans. Lmao

If we have 17 first rounders it would not matter what we ran on offense.
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 04:57 PM
Both Satan and Dabo running offense is very simple
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 04:59 PM
Richt philosophy is among with players who have 2 years experience. That may work in Georgia but it will get you fired in Miami. You got to find the guy even if he is a freshman to avoid losing. People are not patient in the 305.
Posted by: mi@mic@me. | November 29, 2018 at 05:06 PM
A. Butch’s recruits that won with Clappy as the HC... that was an experienced, top heavy team. It wasn’t a bunch of freshmen & sophomores coaching themselves. How’d the remaining guys do the next year? Lost a NC game they should’ve won in a blowout and had a few other close-calls to mediocre teams. This whole “they coach themselves” line of reasoning is ridiculous.
B. How’s that famous lack of patience working out? Giving Butch time to learn how to be a good HC and get over sanctions worked pretty well. But it did take some patience. Wasn’t that famous banner all about impatience? And wasn’t that guy wrong about Butch? Richt had a terrible year and I agree that changes should be made. But fans make the huge mistake all the time of seeing a guy perform in a late season game then assuming he could have played like that from the beginning. That there isn’t/wasn’t progress and development from July to Nov. There’s maybe 1 guy in the League now out of 1,000 that was ready and could’ve played straight out of HS. But all 1,000 are there now. The other 999 needed 2-4 years of growth, learning, development, experience - both games & practices - before being ready. Same applies in the college game. Some will be “the guy” from day 1. Others won’t be at first but will become the guy over time.
Richt’s problem isn’t playing more experienced guys. It’s trying to be the OC & HC at the same time. This team needs more attention paid to ST by it’s HC and more time-attention paid to the offense by its OC. He failed this season trying to do both.
