Serious?? I’d like to have Kingsbury (“Coach Bro”) as OC. I haven’t paid any attention to Memphis. Would this be a good thing? Not just better than current, but actually a good thing?

BTW - it’s all about the QB these days unless U have a superior D AND OL AND RB like Bama in years past. We find “the guy” and we’ll be legit. OR the OL starts playing like it’s got 3 future NFLers and we’ll be legit - the D already being there. Still should’ve won the Coastal this year. No way a top 10 team tho even if we had. Coastal champ is just sacrifice for Clemson warm up scrimmage.... until we get the guy or an OL.

solarcane

Soup,
isn't Memphis getting ready to play National Champion UCF for their conference championship?

DallasTX Cane

They are. Looks like they already dropped one to UCF this season but only by a single point. They started slow losing to Navy & Tulane in first 1/3 of season but finished strong.

It could work but, meh. Kenny Dillingham was a GA in 2016 and the QB/TE coach the year before being promoted to OC this season. Improvement would be hiring Art Briles or a Larry Fedora to delegate the offense to while freeing up Smart Mark to get the special teams correct for the entire year while dallying in the weekly schemes with the coordinators, then you've got something and this staff could use another former head coach.

NativeCane

This Louis Hedley guy from Australia looks like the real deal at punter....
The Bubba Beagles combo has been anything but special....

What about Rich Rodriguez?

SOUP

OGV...I would support Fedora for OC. Plus he knows the conference. Hell, I would support just about anybody as OC, even TSully!

One source says that the Memphis OC will be our next OC. IJS

I hope you are right. Kenny Dillingham is 29 years old, and he alsocoaches QBs. His offense at Memphis is lighting it up. Dillingham seems focused, hard-working and disciplined. Memphis score 43 points a game, and are almost tied with UCF to lead the AAC in total offense. His QB, Brady White, has a 157 QB rating. He sounds like the kind of OC that we need

Great info & good points. I’m leery of a guy with only 1 year OC experience and only 2 years removed from being a GA. But I’d be happy if he were hired if for no other reason than it would mean MR becoming Smart Mark again and admitting his weakness. Regardless of offensive performance, I don’t think it is realistic for a single person to be both an OC and a HC and do both jobs well. Not at a major program. Not in this day & age.

The U needs to work with the computer corporations and develop a robot that is programed with all the information of a team on every situation and tendency of that team. Download the Richt playbook so that the robot can call the plays that have worked for thirty years. We could put an ear phone in every offensive players helmet so the robot can whisper every persons assignment. The robot could also change the play according to how the team is lined up. Umac could be walking the side lines giving high fives to the players coming off the field....Umac would be like the turnover chain...we would get a boat load of talent.

Anybody getting themselves all hot and bothered over hiring Special K's other shitty head football coaching hire that he for once stayed around town long enough to be forced to fire years too late either didn't watch that football team pretend to play under that washout or is so far up Mahomes rear end after he left college they know what he had for breakfast. Fedora has been a head coach at two places for over a decade, got Trubisky to play well enough in college to go two thirds of a pro draft higher in the selection order than Tech's QB did, knows the ACC and the southeastern United States' recruiting trail intimately, oh and was a WR in college so he might be able to help the former QB in college in ironing out some continuing issues at the skill positions that hamstrung this season.

Posted by: DallasTX Cane | November 28, 2018 at 12:05 AM

They couldn't outscore Randy Shannon's relatively equal athletes on the other side of the ball at home in the middle of the year and now get a return game in Orlando while Shannon has to game-plan with a second string starting QB on his team. Shannon kept his safeties high most of the game until they got to his 35 yard line or so in October and probably won't deviate from that this time either and he'll still keep them in a one score margin even though you'll have to say Memphis now has the roster athleticism advantage. So unless Dillingham's a fast learner the anti-clutch ability to choke it away will resurface even with the offensive line advantage in the trenches over the Knights despite having another chance at defeating the scheme after being shutout after halftime in 2018 against it.

With machine learning and AI that's already do-able. IBM's Watson has beat Gary Kasparov in chess and Google's AlphaGo beat the world champion to Go. All you would need to beat Richt is a TRS80.

raizecane

Stephen Morris picked up by Orlando Apollo's and will be playing for the Ole ball coach himself.

TonyCane

I can picture the AI when NKosi tries to call an audible....

“What are you doing, N’Kosi?”

Old Skool

Hmm if they could incorporate a GPS in the software and helmetsets, receivers could get a "Wrong route, dummy" warning in their earpiece. "You're supposed to be ...."

Raize Orlando is my Team because they have 7 Former canes on the Team including SteMo17. I will catch them when they play Atlanta and Birmingham.

TSully (belated Happy Birthday), but Orlando better be you're team! They are the only team with any 'Canes on it... LOL!!! I'll hit up a game next season if Orlando plays at San Diego.

A true "Old School" reference from Old Skool! (And totally true!)

Watching Canes vs. Pitt again on ESPNU right now... I hope we win! (Pitt punter just had a 72 yard punt!) That's 3 Feagles punts laid end-to-end!

People up here in Georgia say GT is going all in for Clemsons OC to be their next head coach, that will be another disaster for us.

Georgia Tech coach search

Wednesday, a source close to Georgia Tech has indicated to FTRS that Tech has already zeroed in on Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott to be his replacement.

Elliott, 39, has been at Clemson since 2011 and has served as its co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach since 2015. He won the Broyles Award in 2017, awarded annually to college football’s top assistant coach. Clemson is averaging 45.5 points per game this season, third-best in FBS.

Elliott graduated from Clemson in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a team-high 3.55 GPA, a profile which certainly fits Georgia Tech’s culture.

Though early in the process, the young offensive mind appears to have become the focus of Georgia Tech’s coaching search.

Go Canes!!

It doesn't matter who they get as coach. Paul Johnson's offense is the equivalent of Georgia Tech having had sanctions in place. The Yellow Jackets have personnel that are suited to run the triple option only. As Phil Steele has said in the past, it takes THREE years to transition away from an option offense. A new offense will need to recruit wide receivers and quarterbacks, and then develop them.

Jeff Monken has Army with a 9-2 record running the triple option.

Canes finally back in front of Rutgers, 37-34, with 12:32 left in the second half

BigWindyCane

I think coach L is trying to teach his players, especially Lykes, to share the ball, and that message is starting to resonate in the second half

thirstybuzzardcane

I don't think we'll make the tournament without Huell! He's a difference maker!

I agree that Dewan Hernandez is the missing ingredient right now. They struggle without him. The Canes compliance department needs to get their act together

I think it's past the Cane compliance department. It's the NCAA that's holding it up

Hoops team won't be going dancing this year. They suck too. It's not a good time to be a fan of the "U"...

thirstybuzzardcane

Terrible game by the Canes tonight! Not one player played good. Izundu played well but didn't play the last nine minutes because of injury. I hope he's alright. It didn't look like anything serious.

If we have Huell we would be undefeated right now. The fucking NCAA is the biggest joke ever!

After extending so many offers to 2020 QBs, I didn’t realize that the Canes were still recruiting Max Johnson. I saw him at a CMR’s camps over the summer. He has size, throws a nice ball. Johnson was definitely one of the better QB prospects at the camp, but Nothing really special at this point in his development

Herbieibis

Going to LSU ain't much better. Their offense sucks 2.
