Dude on a Pale Horse

the only thing worse than the rumors are the fan theories about why it hasnt been announced. uh... Manny wants to announce it the day before the Natty, uh the day of the Natty, uh during the Natty, uh the day after the Natty, uh... its an NFL coach... uh he wants to announce the entire staff at once... LMAO.

Herbieibis

If Tee Martin doesn't get the OC job at least get him as a position coach. He's not a spread coach.
Good pick up at WR. Maybe this is the way we need to attack recruiting. Don't waste the year chasing kids around, just let the transfers come to us and we will get the kids that only want to come here. Let the others play their games. What The Herb don't get if these high school could just understand if they stay hear we could win the ship. Think of who we lost in the last 2 years in recruiting and tell me we wouldn't be up their with Bama, Georgia and Clemson, talent wise. They wouldn't have to go anywhere.

Go Canes!!

We would not be up there with Bama and Clemson.

Both of those teams have far, far, far superior play st the offensive and defensive lines from elite kids from across the country in addition to a Top 5 pick and the greatest QB prospect in history under center.

All the Jeudys and Surtains of the world won’t change that imo.

The gap between those two programs and everyone else is as big as the Atlantic.

Unless it's 3ed and 7 after two runs into the left guards nudzack...then I'm pretty sure we will remember.

solarcane

CGNC

LSU guy "So wheres your new OC ?"

Me. "Take it easy, Manny Diaz has this, he's probably chilling at Disney World."

LSU guy " Manny Diaz coaches Disney World "

He said he was glad Clemson beat Bama, just like we would be glad if Bama beat FSU, he would be correct there.

Herbieibis

The Herb says this: Whom ever they hire and I hope he is air raid and can recruit, we got no place to go but up!

Herbieibis

Go,
Look Go Clemson has recruited good but no where near Bama, Georgia or Ohio St.
Where Clemson has really been good at has been the skill position players, especially at QB and Wr. They have 3 five star WR's coming back next year and u add Ladson to that group and of course they have had great QB play. Probably the most important thing is they haven't lost very many coaches over the last 5 years, only Chad Morris.
With the recruits that have spurned us the last 2 years we would be close to their hemisphere, only lacking a QB and that is where we would be an ocean apart from them. Now we didn't get those players, so yes we are still Continent apart from them at present.

If we get a transfer, I hope it's one that has more than one year left because then we will still be left with those 3 foul ups.

Raizecane

If we wait long enough, we should have narrowed the list down to about 78 potential OC's.

solarcane

Herb
I agree about a multi year transfer.
A one year guy is just a band aid.

If Williams needs another season to watch someone else run the offense
he really isn't going to be the guy.

If a transfer comes in he needs to learn the new offense on the fly and be able to run it now and next season while we get the next guy up.

Plenty of Freshmen are able to start now, but a smart transfer with two seasons would be fine with me.

thirstybuzzardcane

I bet we got the grad transfer DT from UCLA! Big get!

Dan Enos is our OC

Now stop crying about not having an OC and start complaining about why you hate this hire and how in your expert opinions it will set us back 3-5 years.

And go

JaxCane

on Enos

Enos boasts more than 20 years of experience coaching skill position players and over 10 years of play-calling experience. He has tutored and developed numerous NFL stars.

Enos was offensive coordinator and QB coach at Arkansas before he took the job at 'Bama from 2015-17. Prior to that he was head coach at Central Michigan from 2010-14.

During his three years at Arkansas, Enos oversaw an offense that produced some of the most impressive seasons in Razorback history. Arkansas was one of two FBS programs with a 3,000-yard passer and 1,300-yard rusher in both 2015 and 2016, featuring a different quarterback and different running back carrying the load in each season. He also had a 3,000-yard passer and 1,000-yard rusher in his final season at Central Michigan in 2014.

Enos tutored both Brandon Allen (2015) and Austin Allen (2016) to 3,000-yard passing seasons, as the brothers became just the third and fourth players in program history to reach that number through the air. Brandon threw for 3,440 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior in 2015, while leading the nation in quarterback efficiency. Austin then led the SEC in 2016 with 3,430 yards and was second in the league in touchdowns with 25. Enos had five offensive players selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, tied for the second-most nationally.

I have no idea whether he'll be good or not. I'm just waiting to hear Diaz spin it. "He was our first choice all along." "The rest of the names that arose were just a smokescreen to hide our primary target." "He's a diamond in the fairway because he never lands in the rough." "He's the stable genius of college football."

Here's a vid from his days at Arkansas while he was the OC. They run this new concept called play-action.

One of the articles mentions his ability to be unpredictable. To mix it up. That’d be a nice change...

Raizecane

The fact we "snagged" a coach from Alabama is good enough for me. IMO (and you know GO Canes loves my opinions) This is a better hire then any of the previous names that have cropped up.

Go Canes!!

James Coley just got named OC at UGA.

From the outside it looks like they were trying to get Enos and Manny stole him so they had to settle.

Makes me like the hire twice as much now.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Enos had some nice offenses at Arkansas too. Lots of rushing yards. The OL hire will be just as important.

raizecane

Who called it ?

“Dan was my primary target for our offensive coordinator position from the outset and I’m thrilled that he’s now a Miami Hurricane,” Diaz said. “Dan is one of the most innovative play-callers in college football and he not only has a remarkable track record of coaching quarterbacks, but also developing players for the NFL at numerous positions. His experience as a head coach will also provide invaluable insight to our entire program.

While Lawrence is a fine young QB....the greatest prospect in history is a little much. VG QB....but has played 12 13 games.....give the kid a chance to grow and become a fine player....don't put that millstone around his neck....not fair to the young man.People already saying 2 Heismans 3 NCs....again be fair to the kid and let him grow learn....and have some fun...not a ton of pressure.

Hope the OC will be good....sounds like he has done well....he will find a challenge here but I like what I see and here. I have grown weary of the failed pro set stuff, damn bubble screens, dink and dunk crap from QBs who were not QBs....open it up!!!
I grew up in pro set stuff...and 4/3 Ds....but long ago I learned shotgun spread O, and many different Os and Ds....a lot of stuff I use and try not being stuck in 1 system...lot of looks...it takes more coaching and learning by all...but it works!!
I look forward to something new...should be interesting.

Regarding Hurts.....great attitude tough kid smart....but he was a very average passer with great OL, backs and WRs.....we cannot offer him that.He may be better than anything at CG at QB...Rosier is gone so you got John Holmes porn star, Vince Neil pot head, Williams who has had no PT and some dude I never knew was on the team as a QB....maybe Hurts can fill a void....but its gonna take a couple years to fly on O.....D will be relied on again....and please get a ST coach....we were the worst in CFB had to be....

BigWindyCane1

Enos > Coley

I like the OC hire. I agree that Enos is probably the hire that UGA and a few other top programs would want, but he chose the U. I doubt that the Canes could pay Enos more than UGA or Alabama. That is a very good sign that Enos thinks this situation with the Canes gives him potential for success.

Enos will also attract QB recruits and transfers, including Jalen Hurts. I expect one QB transfer, probably Hurts, and one QB commit for 2019 class. The Canes have gotten a lot better in the last 48 hours, and there appears to be a lot of positive momentum. Diaz is making the right moves.

BigWindyCane1

Hurts was the reason that Alabama beat UGA in the SEC championship. Tua, a future NFL prospect, simply could not get it done against UGA. Hurts also had a 21-2 record as a starter, and although Hurts was at Alabama, not many college QBs can boast of a W-L record that impressive.

Moreover, I watched the second half of that SEC championship game, and Hurts has definitely improved as a passer. Hurts reads defenses better, Hurts was more accurate and he also demonstrated that he is a better runner than any QB on the Canes roster or Alabama's roster, for that matter.

Hurts is simply better than any QB on the Canes current roster, and he would be a dramatic upgrade if he transfers here. I will go as far as to say that Hurts is the best transfer QB on the market, by a landslide.

BigWindyCane1

if Hurts transfers to Coral Gables, he can also work with his Canes teammates to help them understand the new offense that Enos will install. To have your QB understand the offense and explain it to others will help with the transition to a new OC and system.

I also think this situation with Alabama and Tua has humbled Hurts a little. I can't imagine another QB who handled a situation like that. In spite of pressure, he remained with the program and stayed positive. Hurts even helped Alabama win the SEC championship when he had been benched.

I hope Hurts transfers to the U. It might also finally create some positive national buzz for the Canes offense.

UMike

Raize... Manny did mention in an interview something along the lines of teams still playing or something... This would indicate he may have known and was waiting till after playoffs.

JaxCane

Soup, sounds like we have a coach other big time schools wanted.

WE BACK!!

BigWindyCane1

My prediction: If Hurts transfers to Coral Gables, the Canes will close strong with a few more transfers and 2019 commits before NSD, and the Canes will begin the 2019 season ranked in the Top 25. Vault that!

Harry Miller

Glad every one was so patient while Manny was doing his search. He didn't panic and take the quick way out and hire the first half ass OC that came along.

Now you can focus on how long it will take to get the rest of of his coaches. Maybe now you will give him a chance. I am sure some of you will not be able to help yourselves. It's just who you are.

Man new rumours every couple hours
Now the Alabama qb coach might be coming here???

Posted by: solarcane | January 10, 2019 at 11:07 PM

Raizecane

FYI -

Enos originally received a three-year deal with Alabama. He received $200,000 for the 2018 season. That number was supposed to increase to $250,000 in 2019 and $875,000 in 2020.

He was in line to be Alabama's OC so he would have gotten a nice pay increase. UM shelling out the Benjamin's.

solarcane

Sounds good, he definitely gets qbs to play

A fresh offense will be a lot of fun.

I'm thinking maybe Nick should refrain from yelling in his coaches faces on national tv every time 11 kids don't pull off a play like They are doing brain surgery.

Dan Enos is a great OC hire from an X+O standpoint, DC is a solid hire. We'll see if they fix the recruiting problems and how quickly. You found the real leak from Fake Lame's house with this one though!

Herbieibis

Ok, so we get Bama Disciple.
The Herb is 50/50 on the hire.
Not really the air raid guy, like a few of the other OC's were but I guess he is a multiple set OC.
The dude will definitely be a tremendous up grade and has been coaching under Saban but the big question is can he recruit? We have 3 big question Marks for QB's. Bringing in or getting Hurts still doesn't help in the long term. Who ever qb's, we still have to find some consistent blockers on the OLine.
Can't wait for these 7 months to click off to see the results.
The other question The Herb has, is how long will he be here, having been a head coach.
I like what Manny is doing and he could very well turn out to be our Dabo. Dabo was a WR's coach, at Clemson and then was an interim, before being named the head. Hell, was selling insurance for a couple of years before going back, I believe to Clemson.
Manny knows the offense sucked and he knows the same about our QB'S. He will at least do something about it unlike Richt.
Go Manu. I ain't loving u yet but I'm getting close!

I don’t think Hurtts would scare him off.

Dealing with Richt and Son had to be disheartening.

Offense played as a whole like nobody knew what was going on. To not be given ANY significant snaps after the way Malik and N’Kosi played was CRIMINAL. I don’t think he is as much a head case as is being speculated. Remember, he decided to stay even before the shocking developments of the last 15 days.

I think the kid wants to be here. I think he will be patient as long as he has someone ahead of him that truly is better. That was not the case in 2018.

He was our most accurate quarterback by all accounts and got completions even if didn’t go through Richt’s seemingly rigid progression.

People talk noise about him not beating out the 1 and 2, but after what we witnessed, can we trust the last regime’s judgement about anything regarding quarterbacks at all? I don’t.

He will compete and probably lose for 2019. Will still get no. 2 snaps and I think we will have some blowout wins in conference.

But if Enos really is the goods, don’t be surprised if we see the guy who looked better than Lawrence at the all star games.

With real development, the qb race could look more like Clemson’s situation last summer than people realize.

DON’T COUNT JARREN OUT!

TruCane81

Not .playing last year may be the best thing to happen to Jarren.

He won’t have the stink of failing on the big stage in last season’s shyt show and didn’t have his confidence destroyed in a silly game of musical chairs or Playing matador for unblocked defenders.

Wow really bad hire by the Dolphins. No surprise though. Until Ross is gone nothing will change there. As they say s**t rolls downhill from Ross who is an incompetent owner to Chris Grier who should have been fired years ago and was instead ridiculously promoted to Brian Flores who doesn't even call the defensive plays and is just a run of the mill guy on Belichek's staff. Oh well this is a Canes blog and we are focusing on the positive moves by the Canes. No sense bringing the Dolphins into it but it still sucks for Dolphins fans.
