The University of Miami football program has hired Taylor Stubblefield as wide receivers coach and Stephen Field as tight ends coach, head coach Manny Diaz announced Friday.
"We're excited to welcome these coaches to the Miami family," Diaz said. "Taylor was a Biletnikoff Award finalist as a college receiver and he boasts a terrific track record coaching that position. He has strong ties to offensive coordinator, Dan Enos, which is significant as we begin to build and shape our offense.
"Stephen is an outstanding coach who has had great success at the college and high school levels. He is a proven recruiter on a national scale, and has strong ties to UM and to South Florida. They will be excellent additions to our staff."
Stubblefield, a record-setting wide receiver during his playing days at Purdue, comes to UM after two seasons as wide receivers coach at the Air Force Academy. Field, a veteran coach from the college and high school ranks, comes to UM from Louisville, where he was hired as Director of Recruiting earlier this month. This is his second tour of duty at Miami, having served as a defensive graduate assistant and special teams coach for the Hurricanes from 2007-08.
Stubblefield had college coaching stops at Utah (2014-15), Wake Forest (2013), New Mexico (2012), Central Michigan (2011), Illinois State (2009-10), Eastern Michigan (2008) and Central Washington (2007).
Stubblefield coached under Hurricanes offensive coordinator Dan Enos at CMU, where he coached three third-team all-Mid-American Conference receivers in Titus Davis, Courtney Williams and Cody Wilson. In his two years at Illinois State, Stubblefield coached three all-Missouri Valley Football Conference players, including first-team wide receiver Eyad Salem, who set a school record for receptions in a season with 92.
As a wide receiver at Purdue, Stubblefield was a consensus All-America selection and a 2004 finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation's outstanding receiver. He finished his career (2001-04) with a then-NCAA record 316 receptions, ranking second in Big Ten history with 3,629 receiving yards. His 16 receiving touchdowns in 2004 are a Boilermakers single-season record.
Field spent last season as the Director of Recruiting at Oregon, where he helped the Ducks land the top-ranked class in school history. Oregon's 2019 class was ranked first in the Pacific-12 Conference and ninth nationally by 247 Sports.
In 2017, Field served as Louisville's Director of High School Relations and NFL Liaison, helping the Cardinals sign 19 student-athletes during the initial early signing period, eight of which enrolled in January. The 2018 signing class featured a school-best 11 four-star recruits and a pair of Under Armour All-Americans.
Field was named the 2015 Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Coach of the Year, guiding North Marion to the regional quarterfinals, after his squad led the county in passing, rushing and scoring. Field was also selected as the offensive coordinator in the 2015 Offense-Defense All-American game in Orlando, Fla., and produced six players selected to play in the All-American game, a Marion County record.
Prior to his stint at North Marion, Field served as head coach and offensive coordinator at Miami Northwestern High (2012-14), where he restored the perennial prep power to prominence, guiding them to a regional appearance in his first season. During his tenure at Northwestern, 46 players earned scholarships, including future Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Artie Burns.
Before his stint at Hampton, Field coached two years at UM (2007-08) on the defensive side of the ball, working with future NFL draft picks like Kenny Phillips, Tavares Gooden, Sean Spence, Darryl Sharpton, Brandon Harris and Allen Bailey.
In 2005-06, Field was the offensive run game coordinator, running backs coach and academic coach at Glades Central High in Belle Glade, Fla.While at Glades Central, he coached back-to-back 1,000 yard rushers in Aston Samuels and Damien Berry. In 2006, Glades Central won the Class 3A championship.
Field also spent a season at Deerfield Beach High, where he coached 1,000-yard rusher Roderick Ferguson, and four years at Miami Central High, where he coached the top two statistical ranking wide receivers in Dade County in 2002.
Field was a two-time all-state selection at Palm Beach Lakes High, helping them to the only undefeated season in school history. He played tight end for two seasons at Tuskegee University. Field later earned a bachelor's degree in business management from University of Phoenix, and a master's degree in liberal studies from UM.

Harry, you be 77 in 5 years? What a coincidence, that was Brady’s QBR last night. Had the pick stood, qbr been less than your age. That was all against a terrible defense. IJS.... not a goat game yet everyone piling on the praise.

Any recruiting updates anyone?
Posted by: nemo2002 | January 21, 2019 at 09:48 AM
From Stefan Adams at CIS:**The Canes just had a big recruiting weekend in terms of official visits, as two transfer targets (S Bubba Bolden and DT Chigozie Nnoruka) and three 2019 targets (OT Darius Washington, DE Ja’Darien Boykin, and CB Christian Williams) all were in Coral Gables this weekend for their OV's. Aside from Bolden, who is already a solid commit, it was an encouraging weekend as it seems the Canes made moves with every other prospect on campus. Here’s what I heard coming out of the weekend.
**On Bolden: the USC transfer is firmly committed to Miami and this visit only further solidified that.
**On Nnoruka: As I said last week, Miami had already felt like the leader with Nnoruka, and nothing changed that this weekend. I’m under the impression that a big factor here is the city life that Nnoruka became accustomed to at UCLA is helping UM in that he is already comfortable in the type of environment he will be surrounded by at Miami. UM is still expecting him to be a Cane in the end, but Florida is the program to look out for that could potentially still make a move.
**On Boykin: Miami has positioned themselves well with Boykin and there’s not a lot of other competition here, so UM will likely be able to easily add him if they decide to take him into the class. Louisville is the main contender here.
**On Williams: In terms of where they were heading into the weekend, I think Miami made the biggest move with Williams. Although the 4-star corner has been committed to Alabama since April, he did not sign early and is now taking a look around at schools like Miami and Oregon to be sure of his decision with so much turnover on the Crimson Tide coaching staff. I’m told UM likes their chances to win out here, although stealing a recruit from Bama will obviously be no walk in the park if Bama decides he is still a take for them.
**On Washington: Miami was able to get Washington back on campus for a second official visit (NCAA rules allow for that after a head coaching change) this weekend. Academics have been the main factor keeping UM in the game here all along, and they will continue to push for a flip with the Mississippi State commit. I’ve always said this would be a 50-50 recruitment for UM contingent on getting Washington back on campus, so you have to like seeing Washington in Coral Gables yet again. Miami feels good about their chances to ultimately make the flip.
**UM is putting on the full court press to flip DE Khris Bogle from Alabama, and I’m told from a good source that Bogle is still open to that idea. Like with Williams, all of the coaching turnover at Bama is giving Bogle pause, so there is definitely more legs to this than simply internet rumors. However, I’m told that a big hurdle is going to be getting mom on board, as she seems set with Alabama at this time. Tennessee was right there with UM and Bama at the end and they could still be a legitimate option as well.
**I’m told Miami feels they are trending down with RB target Mark-Antony Richards. The 4-star athlete from Wellington has been very quiet the past few months and has seemed to put more distance between himself and Miami; I’m told that’s not a coincidence. UM getting rid of primary recruiter and longtime family friend Thomas Brown from the staff has hurt UM’s chances too. I don’t think it’s over, but Miami at the very least has work to do these last few weeks to land the legacy recruit.
**In terms of the linebacker board, UM is still heavily pursuing both Eugene Asante and OC Brothers for the last spot in the class. Of the two, I’m told the main priority is actually Asante, as UM absolutely fell in love with his film, but that Miami feels more confident at this time with Brothers due to his proximity to UM. Brothers is currently planning on taking an OV to Miami next weekend, while Miami is still trying to get Asante to set a trip to Coral Gables.

I would agree solar I am not fond of overpaid athletes....but this is my game...all the way...I love coaching so much, I have to watch the game....i love college much more...more fun guys playing to win with heart... not for money commercials fame hero worship....
What I hate even more is talking heads like Nick Wright Max Kellerman Skip Dumbass Colin Cowherd who have no athletic skills and are way overpaid.....and do not know a damn thing about sports.....and they run that yap like a babbling brook...please give me a tatumizer on each of them....to shut them up....LOL

UCLA transfer DL nnoruka is set to announce soon as well. Loves the big city and Miami but the gayturds are coming on strong - but how does he sign with them if he truly loves a real city - Gainesville sucks.
Posted by: AeroCane | January 21, 2019 at 02:16 PM
Gainesville is no even a city.....it's more like a truck stop.
Posted by: raizecane | January 21, 2019 at 02:24 PM
I agree Herbie....like I said....I got a blindside across the middle Tatumizer waiting on them.
I am felling pretty good with MD.....he is dioing things different with a lot of energy and options. I like the fact that the is willing to throw caution to the wind......I understood Clappy promotion....it was a tough time and looked like it might work....but I knew when you let the players decide the coach it may not work....it did not.
I never was with the Shannon and Golden hires.....just not thought out. CMR was kind of perplexing....again it looked good but it did not work out. So we load up again. This one was sudden.....but MD seems as if he is on it no BS lets go!!
I think we will see a very different approach to UM football....much different than the last 15 years we have gotten from the Fatal Four Horsemen.....now I do not think we are 12-0 beat Clemson for ACC and beat Bama or whoever for the NC but I think it willl be new different exciting....with a realistic fundamental approach to all 3 phases...thats all I expect....it loos positive!!!!

I agree! It will be fun to watch and you know we are going to put our best foot forward - unlike richt!
To me:
Larry was lazy and took what butch gave him and ran with it until the fraud was uncovered;
Randy was too stubborn and just isn’t Head coach material;
Golden was not cut out for the speed and aggressive Miami athletes and fans!
And richt - anyone who reads this blog knows my feelings on him! Lol

Posted by: solarcane | January 21, 2019 at 05:02 PM
At least Cooker did something with what was left to his safe keeping. His problem, he quit hammering so. Flo. In recruiting. Wanted to be a national plays.
Shannon and Richt both just got lazy.
Golden didn't know what to do with talent and he didn't have the nads to fire anybody.
Those dudes are past history.
Now Manny is like a gunslinger, he has just come out guns blazing.
Now it's one thing to get these transfers, let's see if he is a closer come Feb. 6th. To The Herb, that is going to be his first real test. Our recruiting on the Feb. Signing date has not been outstanding for quite some time. Plenty of big fish still floating around, the problem is most are verballed to someone else, except maybe 3 or 4. If he is able to finish strong, we will be on our way. No reason we can't get to 10 wins next year. Aside from getting the QB's to complete passes consistently, we got to stop losing these games to teams that have no business being on the field with us and that includes the Wisconsin's of the world. Got to learn to win on the road like we used to. Make the road our house!

Don't know how he'll be on the field but I like what Tate is doing. He makes a decision and goes all in. I don't live on Twitter or social media so I don't know if this is true, but, to an outsider, he seems to becoming the one of the most prominent players on the Canes and he hasn't played a down. He and Brevin seem to be one of the few players actively recruiting and talking up the Canes. I'm not reading of similar tweets or posts by N'Kosi, Jarren, Shaq, Trajan, Cam, Gregory, Lorenzo or Jeff.
