Three Miami Hurricanes football student-athletes were recognized for excellence in the classroom with their selections to the All-ACC Academic Football Team, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Running back Travis Homer, safety Jaquan Johnson and offensive lineman Hayden Mahoney were all honored by the ACC.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Homer, who elected to forego his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL Draft, majored in management during his academic career. Mahoney, who made 10 starts in his final year at The U, also majored in management, while Johnson, who was named to the All-ACC Second Team and recently competed in the Reese's Senior Bowl, majored in human and social development.

Whoop, whoop.
He still is not going to any games next year.
He never bought season tickets (lives too far away).
And none of us (except you and Go Canes) are buying in just yet to the Manny Mania sweeping the 305.

Battling No. 12 Virginia Tech all the way to the end, the University of Miami men's basketball team came up short, 82-70, Wednesday night at the Watsco Center.
The Hurricanes (9-11, 1-7 ACC) were led offensively by sophomore guard Chris Lykes (19 points, four assists) and senior guard Anthony Lawrence II (15 points), while Lawrence finished just shy of a double-double, leading the way on the defensive side of the ball with nine rebounds. The duo were joined by redshirt senior guard Zach Johnson (10 points) in double figures.
Overall, Miami shot just 23-of-56 (41.1 percent) from the field, while the Hokies (17-3, 6-2 ACC) posted a 30-of-51 (58.5 percent) shooting performance. Miami finished the night shooting 12-of-33 (36.4 percent) from long range, while Virginia Tech finished 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) from beyond the arc.

Miami drops to 1-7 ACC, worst conference start in 25 years, but Larranaga optimistic.

"Optimistic" and somewhat delusional.

So Coach Larranaga. You're 1-7 in the ACC and have lost 2 games in 3 days by a total of 24 points.
What do you say?

Question for 86, KY, Raize, Native, and everyone coming to or live in Orlando where do we want to meet up Labor Day Weekend I say we link up Sunday afternoon at either a Ale House or Twin Peaks or Dave and Buster's and all grab a bite to eat and hang out. Sunday Night would work as well. Since I believe most of us are off on Labor Day!

If yall want to that on Friday Night let us all know so we can plan accordingly. Canespace Orlando Night Out!

I am in the process of securing a tailgate location for the Florida game. If we cant get tickets, we can watch game at tailgate.....just need to acquire items for viewing.
There are also a ton of bars in which we could catch the game if need be.

Sounds great Raize.

I like the idea of having a tailgate viewing party at the game. Should be fun.

If Native brings his guitar, we could have our own halftime show as well. Hmm now what to do about cheerleaders

Hope the game's on a broadcast channel. If ESPN winds up with it, it might be tricky to see in a parking lot in unless we have a portable satellite dish.

Hurricanes picked up their first commit of 2037 early this morning. He's built like a tank and doing pushups already. No really, he was doing pushups about 45 minutes after birth. Dad is locked in with the Canes, no more visits... Mom says no to football.

New ranking for players transferring through the portal. Manny and Co. doing a really good job of bringing new guys, most with multiple years of eligibilty remaining.
Also appears we have a legit shot at a couple of big time guys.

This is the easiest home schedule in recent memory. If the Canes aren’t 7-0 at home, then we will see pitchforks and axes before the season is over

I'm an exercise physiologist at a hospital in east Fort Lauderdale. A buddy of mine is an AP at a private Catholic high school down the street. He brought a certain senior DE by to work out today. What a great, polite, humble young man. Said his in-home with Manny went great, loves our IPF and new football dorms. Wants to play "standing up"...maybe OLB..but gave NO indication which way he is leaning. I tried!!
Posted by: jgatsby1112 | January 31, 2019 at 09:48 PM
One area Manny needs to address is LB. Yes we have the 3 amigos but after that we have 2 FR, one who will definitely have to RS. That leaves Wilder, who didn't play last year because of a neck injury I believe, Jennings who RShirted and Steed. Not an over whelming group of talent. Good but not great. Huff should be real good but he is a FR.
We are an injury or 2 away from being real medocre at that position.
