Well put Harry....while i was not always enamored with the mild attack and schemes, not a bad word can be said about CMR. Honest, caring and a fine man. I cannot imagine many people doing what he did. He is a very fine man; we know his faith is true...lot of false prophets out there today.
He cares about the kids the program the school....and it shows.

Go Canes!!

CMR did what one of a thousand coaches would have done.

He is the classiest of class acts.

think we'll see Alabama go into a slump. Their slump though is a 2 loss season.

Sad but true thirsty

Posted by: solarcane | February 08, 2019 at 08:40 PM

Their slump might be a period where they lose a conference game to Georgia. That and perhaps the Jimbo Fischer-led A&M are their biggest threats. The Bulldogs and now the Aggies are starting to accumulate talent that will put them much closer to Alabama.

Clemson may have mistakenly provided performance-enhancing drugs to players, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney acknowledged to The Post and Courier on Saturday.

Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, offensive lineman Zach Giella and tight end Braden Galloway failed an NCAA drug test ahead of the College Football Playoff Semifinal against Notre Dame in December and did not play in the postseason after testing positive for ostarine.

“Oh yeah, I mean, there’s a chance that it could come from anything,” Swinney said when asked if it’s possible the players ingested ostarine in a Clemson-issued supplement. “They’re going to test everything and look at everything. And that’s the problem. As you really look at this stuff, it could be a contaminant that came from anything, that was something that was cleared and not a problem, and all of a sudden, it becomes there was something.”

I think Coach L retires after this year.

I am proud of the way the Canes men basketball team competed against #8 UNC. That’s a good sign. With Dewan Hernandez lost for the season, the Canes men basketball team just don’t have the depth and talent this season, but they are still making things interesting and maximizing the talent they do have. ACC is a tough conference, but at least the Canes aren’t embarrassing themselves

EVERY quarterback on the roster played the worst football of their life under Mark Richt’s offense.

They turned Brad Kaaya from a potential first/second round pick to nearly undrafted.

He turned Malik from a clutch freshman with ice water in his veins to a guy who couldn’t complete a five yard pass.

Perry looked like he was not developed AT ALL. I am not going to act like the second half of Florida State game didn’t happen when he is the only guy on the roster who has started and won a college game.

Yeah, his antics are disappointing. But this is Miami. Players have done worse. The light may never come on. He and Cade are probably portal fodder. But I am glad that Diaz hasn’t given up on them without the chance to grow up in a structure that facilitates success.

Perry (or even Cade) could be dismissed or end up all conference. Neither scenario would surprise me and I am patient (as is Diaz) to see how it plays out.

Terrance Sullivan

BigWindyCane

TruCane81,
I agree with you in that whoever starts with Enos’s offense will perform remarkably better than under CMR’s/JR’s “clunker” offense. I think Enos came here for a reason. Enos saw the potential that we cannot. I am not sure whether the NCAA will grant Martell’s transfer waiver, and I do believe a good QB coach and OC will lead to instant improvement.

I trust that Enos will make the right decisions (at least until he proves me wrong), Enos will prepare his QBs as he did in Alabama, and he will have the Canes QBs to perform their best.

Terrance Sullivan

Malik was and is a 52 percentage completion passer. That's who he is throughout his career. That's who he is. I deal in facts not platitudes.

CR hell Hill can play. I am not familiar with Bolden so I can't speak on that but Perry and Weldon suck the end. And I hold QB'S to a higher standard than a DE hell I thought anybody does that. Because of the crazy rhythm Brad got into when Richt stopped forcing the five step drop.

He was awful early in the year.

Now imagine if Richt knew what he had and let Kaaya play to his strengths the entire season. He could have thrown for 35 tds or more and completed 65%. But that’s all hindsight.

I don’t like bashing Richt because he did us a serious solid, but his missteps were big.

VA Cane

CR I do not know about either guy; if they are problems I would pass on them regardless of their ability. I would have passed on Willie Williams he was way over rated and his past problems as a kid never changed he lived up to his character; people rarely change their deep rooted character flaws.

"A scorpion on the edge of a pond asked a frog for a ride to the other side. The frog said you will sting me halfway across and I will die. Scorpion said thats not logical I cannot swim I will drown. Frog says hop on...halfway across scorpion stings him...as they float to their death at the bottom, the frog says this isn't logical because now you will die too. Scorpion says friend, it has nothing to do with logic; I am a scorpion, its my character."
Moral: You cannot change your true character.

Basketball, Baseball, Hockey..you play both ways you can change it on both ends.Football is the ultimate team sport; it takes all guys doing their job...you rely on those other guys 110%. Bayless,Cowherd,Wright,Kellerman tell you TB12 has won 6 SBs....BS!! He HELPED win 6 SBs....it was never 1 vs 11...never will be!!
My point is it takes everybody to win...no I in TEAM!
You got to cut guys loose that cannot abide by rules....don't know about new guys...but for me...as a coach...The Porn and Pot Rock and Roll Review are about themselves...not UM football...don't need cannot win with them....JMO

We got a guy who moved the ball and scored 30 on the best team with an elite defense that COMPLETELY dominated the line of scrimmage.

Enos’ play action game is superb and he uses it ALOT. It is just what we need with our backs. Run game will be versatile and hard to predict.

The offense is in good hands.

We may not score 50 a game, but the hostile takeover of the coastal has begun. We have everything in place to play Clemson as well as SYRACUSE has.

We might lose 2 or 3 hiccup games, but there will not be anymore four game skids with sub little league level offensive production.

Yes, in retrospect I totally support Brad Kayaa's decision to turn pro. I didn't at the time - I thought he needed another year to rebuild his draft stock. In retrospect, I'm not certain how much it would have helped.

That said, prior to the 2016 season I recall walterfootball.com had Brad Kayaa as the number two pick in the draft. Not the number two quarterback. The SECOND SELECTION IN THE FIRST ROUND. One year in the new offense, and his stock had plummeted.

The one challenge is that the rest of the quarterbacks that we brought in had huge questions beyond Richt's scheme, or are complete question marks.

Malik - Limited upside. He was at a Case McCoy level (if any of you follow Texas football). I'm uncertain how good he would have done even if Lincoln Riley was the OC.

Perry - He didn't know how to read defenses! He reportedly did not know the entire offense until the 2018 season. The coaching staff certainly worked with him on the former, but he came in ill-equipped for CFB at this level, despite his physical gifts.

Weldon - He never saw the field because he kept getting suspended. We have no idea what impact Richt had on him.

Williams - Again, virtually no playing time. So we have no idea if Richt made him better or worse. At best, we can say he was rendered demoralized and willing to transfer.

Terrance Sullivan

VA Cane I totally can roll with it.

Terrance Sullivan

I don't remember if Soup, KY, Kenny etc remember our conversation on BK a few years ago. I said BK was really a Very Late 2nd Round Early 3rd round pick somewhere between Pick 60-70 in the draft. I never thought he should be a first round (Albeit some GM could reach at pick 31 or 32 and stash him away for 3 years otherwise he was within Picks 60-70) now in my opinion he was underdrafted in 6th round. And obviously go back and look at that draft some dudes were drafted earlier than in the 3rd round that should have been drafted where Brad was and those dudes were drafted but that's besides the point. Here's the Facts on BK UM career 26 TD'S 12 INT's 58.5 percentage completion as true freshman in 2014, 16 TD's 5 INT's 61 percentage completion in 2015, 27 TD's 7 INT's 62 percentage completion in 2016. Seems pretty consistent to me. Those are just the facts. Now ask yourself do you see Porn Guy going from 50.8 percentage completion to 60.8 percentage completion this year or not because I don't.

TruCane81

I understand your position, VA, but 2018 showed UM football as a whole to be an “out of control process”.

Diaz is in full beast mode to rectify that process.

Kosi and Cade have been given clean slates, but make no mistake: Diaz WILL NOT allow their antics to derail the team. Their leashes will be short and tight.

Terrance Sullivan

TruCane81 you are absolutely correct 2018 was a train wreck.

DallasTX Cane

Brad wore concrete cleats & collapsed when the wind blew. I think that was his biggest drawback - slow & nowhere near quick. Great arm. But needed perfect OL play and didn’t have any instinct for movement in the pocket.

Enos:

“After the spring was over, we went through with each player [returning Canes QBs] a throwing motion analysis and a drop analysis and we were able to really pin point some areas of improvement that could take place between spring practice and the start of fall camp. It is my job as a coach to give them the drills to make improvements in those areas, but they are the ones that have to go do the work and change it. We saw some good improvements at Alabama and I think we can see the same things here, but ultimately it is up to those guys to put in the work. If they want to be a great player, they have to put the time in on their own.”

BigWindyCane

I saw how horrible Jalen Hurts played against UGA in the college football playoffs last year, and after a year of being a backup, I saw how well Hurts played in the SEC championship this season. Hurts improved tremendously, and I feel pretty confident in saying that Enos had something to do with that improvement.

I am willing to give Perry, Weldon, Martell and Williams a chance as long as Enos is the Canes QB coach and OC.

VA Cane

I want Williams to compete with Martel for the starting position.....I just do not want troublemakers and we had enough trouble ON the field and these guys have had numerous chances to get it right....it is obvious they do not want to get it right and are not for the team winning...they just want to say i was at the U with that U on my hat.....neither wants to do what is right....except for what is right for them....cut their dumb azzes loose...

Sure BK had concrete feet, at least he had enough QB smarts to throw the damn ball outta bounds and live for another play. Let's see Malik and Perry were getting sacked as much as BK were despite being better athletes but that's most likely because they were athletes playing QB and don't know how to read defensive schemes. The OL has great for years.oh and turnovers from the QB position. BK threw 24 picks total in 38 games from 2014-2016. Malik and N'Kosi have thrown 26 picks in 26 Games in 2017-2018. My general point is give me a QB that is going to get us a 3 TD'S to 1 INT's Ratio and 60 completion percentage for 2019 with our Defense and get special teams fix and let's Ride.
